I just wanted to confirm that the Logitech diNovo Edge Bluetooth Keyboard and Touch pad work with the Xoom. Before the 3.1 update, the KB worked fine but not the touch pad. After the update, the touch pad for mouse works too. The Volume slider also works. Very nice keyboard!

That's a nice keyboard! Little on the pricey side though!

It is. I didn't get it for my Xoom but to control my PC hooked to my HDTV from my couch but it works great with the Xoom as well. Pretty happy with it. I got it much cheaper used on eBay.
These are great, I posted a video in another thread with some hands on usage.
Cool, I have a different logitech bluetooth kb and the trackpad didn't work before the 3.1 update, but it does now!

Which one are you using? I have the Logitech keyboard w/trackpad that was made for the PS3. I never tried it before, but I figured since I updated to 3.1 I should go ahead and see how it works. The menu keys don't really do anything, but the trackpad and mouse buttons work great. The Esc key functions as the back key in android, and with this keyboard you have the additional mouse keys on the left side too between the ctrl and alt keys. One other thing I've noticed is that the scroll function is pretty sensitive and goes through the screens pretty well. I like it for home use, but I think I'll still want to get the keyboard case when that comes out.
Cool. I have that for my HTPC as well. Will have to give it a shot with the Xoom.

I've see much vids of Desire but none of them reveal the capabilities of the new joystick. What are its functions, is it more close to joystick or a trackpad?
its like the trackball of the other android devices, just optical -> u can slide over it....and if u hold your finger on the optic sensor u can klick with it, somebody said in a video that u'll get hardware feedback when using the optical joy

Yeah I saw that vid. Simple swiping and clicking can be done with touch screen either. A demonstration of more precise operations is needed.

A real joystick or a real trackpad allows much more than swiping and clicking.
For example, you can hold a joystick direction to trigger autorepeat or make really fast movements without taking finger off.
it's an optical trackball, for want of a better term.
In the same way that you get optical mice as opposed to a mouse with a ball in the bottom. The optical trackpad is simply an optical version of the scroll ball... in other words, same functions as the regular scroll ball without the moving parts.

You don't really need to do that in android, I don't think I ever have on the G1

This is what I want too.
Dont want my big thumbs messing up the whole screen.
I look forward to the optical tracking system. I suppose it may be because I don't play action style games. I'm more of a puzzle/cards kind of guy. There are very few times I play phone games any how.
Actually i can't see the optical version making more sense, than the mechanical.
I personally almost never use it.
I believe its main uses would be as a hardware camera-button (that is, for taking the photo), and to scroll in text when typing.
Yep....Useless....I use my trackball about once every couple of days. Touch here and touch there is much faster... Oh wait I use it whenever I install a new ROM.. Just checking the threads trying to find something.

That's why desire is good, no trackball sticking out! Nice and small button with optical tracking ;-)
Can it be used like the N1 trackball for missed calls and sms??
Blinking lights I mean
Just to answer a couple of questions:
1) There is no notification light on the optical trackpad.
2) I've tried this with the Nesoid emulator and while it works, it's pretty terrible to use for directional control, but maybe OK for any games that require 'swiping' motions.

Hi There,
It does support Multitouch, but it is pretty fiddly, I think because the image of the onscreen d-pad and buttons to not line up exactly on the Desire with Nesoid. I have had more luck with the multitouch using Snesoid, which feels very good! (i.e, in Super Mario All-Stars I can run and jump at the same time)
Has anyone gotten it working with the Galaxy Tab 10.1 Google IO LE with 3.1? I've gotten it to connect but can't use anything with it (not even the Android OS). If you have gotten it to work please share with us how you did it. Thanks in advance!
+1
Same here. It paird and recognized as a mouse. But doesn't do anything.
I have read that it works with Xoom running 3.1 so in theory it should work with Galaxy. Did you guys try with different mouse? (non apple mouse)
i just received my Apple bluetooth keyboard and magic trackpad that i got off ebay for my mac, but i got curious and paired both of them with my IO tab, and they are working great, im actually typing this from the keyboard and the trackpad works except for the 2 finger scroll, but hey i cant complain.
and i have updated to 3.1, not rooted.

I just tried my Apple Magic Mouse on my Samsung GalTab 10.1 with 3.1 and I can confirm that it does not work.
However, the Apple Magic Trackpad does work. (The gestures don't work, but the 2 basic features of moving the cursor and clicking do work.)

Everything is the same here, except mine is rooted. Same results here.
BTW, when you are using the Apple bluetooth keyboard, does the onscreen keyboard pop up too? I can close it and keep using the Apple bluetooth keyboard, but every time I move into a text field, the onscreen keyboard pops up again. It's a bit annoying.
It's not just 2 finger scroll that doesn't work -- none of the trackpad gestures work. The gestures are what make the Magic Trackpad "magical." But I didn't really expect them all to work completely, although I was hoping for the basic features.
It would be a dream if we could get something like BetterTouchTool for android:

To clarify my own response, this is exactly what I saw with the Magic Mouse. It pairs and connects. But it doesn't do anything.
When I doubled clicked a few times I did get the same message that I got when connecting the BT keyboard. So I guess Android thinks the Magic Mouse is a keyboard.
Also, as I already said, the Apple Magic Trackpad does work. But it lacks gesture support. So I guess that even if the Magic Mouse would work, it would not have the magical gestures.
+1 I'm trying to get this to work wit the magic mouse and id love better touch tool for honeycomb.

None of the gestures on mine work either, I just mentioned the two finger scroll cuz that's the only gesture I was really hoping worked. The keyboard displays on mine aswell when I get to a text field.

the suport is def. in my custom kernel for this device.
i rolled in a bunch of patches specifically for it.
what exactly is not working?

the support is for magic 'trackpad'.
Yeah this is the magic mouse. It has gestures on it, but is also a mouse. The problem is that the GT 10.1 seems to detect it as a keyboard once it connects. When the mouse is connected it doesn't do anything for the tablet.
Anyone try the Magic Trackpad with the Retail 10.1 (US WiFi for me) with Pershoots kernel?
I may break this post out since the title is off topic from [OP]

The cursor is quite small and I would like to use a larger one - does anyone know where the cursors are stored on the A100?

How about bluetooth mouse? an actual mouse that runs on bluetooth it should cost around 10-11$?
If you didn't sideload settings.apk all you do is sideload it and pair with via bluetooth menu.
Hmm. That might work. I use the stick mostly for when I travel. Do you have a recommendation for a cheap non-bulky mouse?

If you are looking to buy a BT mouse, why not just get the KB & Mouse combo. I have this and works good with the stick.

As the title says, does anyone use PIE/LMT instead of the onscreen buttons, how does it interfere with the fp reader if its activatable form the bottom?
thanks
"Instead of onscreen buttons"??? This device doesn't need onscreen buttons at all because it has hardware buttons!
Pie/LMT is anyway much inferior to using GMD Gesture Control which works much faster and more ergonomically. (Works just fine on the OP3.)

It's really one of THE best Android apps, and I used it on ALL my devices since my first Android phone in 2011. Works perfectly, feels like an inbuilt Android feature.

yes, it has. case closed. period.
You can still use LMT. I use it on just about every phone I get...especially larger ones. I don't so much need it for home and back but it's super nice to have for a menu button...especially in chrome versus having to reach all the way to the top right (I hold my phone in my left hand usually). Anyway when mine arrives I plan on still using LMT on the sides.
