so, just got my phone looking and feeling pretty much how I wanted it using go launcher but I am noticed that either i have a problem with screen sensitivity or there is a problem with go. I am finding that i have to click some icons several times to launch them, seem worse in drawer.
Anyone else finding that the get the audible click but nothing happens?
EDIT: switched back to ADW and everything is back to normal, gotta be an issue with GO..
No. The only problems I've had with Go Loauncher EX is that there was a lag between the start of a horizontal swipe and the homescreens starting to swipe - resolved once I stopped the wallpaper from scrolling too, and in the app drawer sometimes a long press doesn't launch "edit mode".
Other than that it's all gravy...
odd, my problems disappeared when moving back to ADW. Cheers anyway though.
+1 haha i thought it was just me that was having this issue.when you select something on launcher it indicates the touch with the glow but nothing happens?press couple times and it will open.that is what i was having.was making think i was having lag.went back to touchwiz not a issue.
+2 Hot damn, I thought I was going crazy.
Edit: I emailed them about it but it definitely goes away with a different launcher
cool hopefully they will have a fix in no time.those guys work hard.its hard to go back to touchwiz after go.i also use there go pro messenger.built in backup etc like the laucnher.
Having the same "lag" problem.
So, we're all NOT crazy
Cant say I have had this issue and I have been using GO Launcher for quite some time now.
Yes, I noticed this bug also.
I'm using go launcher ex for some time and this came out since 2-3 weeks.
I hope they will fix it soon.

I am having the same issue here. Gestures are disabled but that didn't help (even after restarting phone). Used to have Launcher Pro Plus which didn't have this kind of behavior.
Sent dev an email though.
Same observations. Especially bad for icons in the dock. I have always disabled gestures.
+1 I also have this problem from time to time. First I tought it was me missing the right spot on the screen, but it must be a bug.

Anyone experiencing lag when going out of the launcher to the home screen. All my apps/folders/widgets and not there for a good couple of seconds all I see is the launcher button. Then after a couple of seconds they all load up ive been experiencing this more and move since ive had the phone.
Anyone else get this lagginess when coming back to the home screen ?

I'm guessing it's a normal function in the os . It probably does it to clear up more memory so your apps run smoothly.

I'm having lag in the app drawer. it's fine scrolling forward in the drawer, but when I scroll backwards, there is some stuttering... anyone else having this issue?
i have this problem too any solution ?
it's a known issue
you can switch to faster launchers, like ADW or Go Launcher EX, or others alike which lets you optimize more to reduce lag

+1 on the adw ex. i've been running adw ex. = f'ing awesome.
I noticed that the first couple days, then it went away by itself and worked great for a few days. Then I installed and uninstalled a ton of apps and now it kinda lags a bit again at times... but it's not bad at all...
It's kind of annoying actually that everytime I am typing a message, a part of my palm touches the menu button and the menu window pops up and while typing fast it gets in the way and I push all sorts of stuff. Sometimes the back button also does the same thing too. For the longest time I couldnt figure out what kept popping up. I have on numerous occasions been in the middle of an important long text or email and the whole message was accidentally deleted. Has anyone else experienced this annoying issue? Any fix?
Oh and is there any way to remove the little white dots that are on your home screen....you know the ones that tell you which one of your home screens you are in? They take up a lot of space and you can fit 4 more apps in its place.
Fix the button presses with a case.
Fix the homescreen indicators by getting a new launcher.

How do I get a new launcher. Right now Im running Denomination 4.1.1.Can I add a new launcher to that or do I need a new Rom? I still like how it slides to a new screen going left and right, just want to get rid of the white dots.
Yep. Just get one from the play store. I'm partial to Nova.

Not sure what weather widget that is because I haven't used TouchWiz in months. I personally use WeatherBug.
Nova is great. So many options. Free, too.
Ill give that one a try. The one that comes stock with the big clock numbers.....idk whatever. Thanks a lot for the help.

Apex launcher is worth trying.
|When Emotion Goes Up, Logic Goes Down|
Apex and Nova are about the same, but I like Apex better because of the infinite app drawer scrolling.
I can't figure out how you're holding your phone to be able to touch those buttons while typing - do you have either very large or very small hands ? If there's no software solution (I would wonder how that would implement since you need to be able to use the "back" key at any time while typing if you need to get rid of the keyboard when you're done - and there's no way for it to know if you're "done" unless perhaps there was a special on-screen key, but that seems like it would have to be built into the keyboard software itself), a case or using portrait view when typing might be a good idea.
Lol, I have normal sized hands. Its more the menu button then anything else. While texting, I hold the phone in the landscape position with both hands with my index fingers curled around the top corners. Sometimes the skin on my palm right below the index finger creeps over and barely touches the menu button. Its really annoying actually after typing a long message and losing the whole thing.

The same thing happened to me. Having a case on the phone acts as a buffer, you can't accidentally hit the buttons anymore. People still carry $600 phones around without a case?
No, I have a case, but its the one that slides into another case with the clip, I forgot what its called. Got it from tmobile when I bought this phone. I guess a different case woukd solve the problem, but I like my case, too bad.

Anyone else having issues on a stock Verizon One getting Nova Launcher to stick? Damn thing keeps defaulting to Sense for some reason. Is there a fix for this? Thanks in advance.
Nova runs fine for me but when I hold the home key to open menu on my homescreen nothing happens. Every once in a while it will work.
Go to HTC Sense in the app settings and clear defaults. Do the same for Nova. Clear defaults for both and see if that solves the problem

Thanks for the suggestion. I've given it a shot. Sense said there were no defaults applied, while Nova said it was a default for certain something... the legend was cut off. I cleared them both and we'll see how it goes.
I'm stock currently, also using Nova. I have not had any issues with it. When you first start using the launcher, and you get the popup asking which UI to use, select "always" (rather than "just once") before selecting Nova, as opposed to Sense. Mine sticks.

I've had this as well, even with Nova selected as default. Sense would pop up randomly when going back to the home screen. What I did is go into app manager and force stop HTC Sense. The problem is when setting another launcher as default, your suppose to clear the others out of memory by using the recent apps, but stock Sense does not allow this apparently...

There is an issue where if you drag up any of your icons on the dock row in your lock screen it will go into Sense. There is nothing you can do about that. Once you have selected Nova as your default launcher, all you have to do is click the home screen and it will take you back.
OP here checking in. Since I applied josh995's suggestion about clearing defaults for both HTC Sense and Nova, it's been pretty well behaved. FYI, peteschlabar, I definitely checked "always" when I had the choice between launchers. Oh well, it seems to have sorted itself out now. Thanks, all!

Hey everyone. I just got a M8, like today, and I'm loving it. I've been happily getting all my apps and everything sorted, but I've hit a bit of a problem with Nova Launcher. It's installed, set as default, I've ported across the settings from my old phone (HTC One X, Sense 5, 4.2.2) and everything looks good, except..... For some reason, when I hit the home button I get no animations. Just a little bit of lag and then the screen just switches to default. The Sense 6 launcher, however, does the nice scrolling thing back to my home page, which I want, but Nova doesn't.
I've hit google, found nothing. Tried all the settings I can think of and nothing jumps out at me (the App Animation setting seemed the obvious, but that didn't seem to help). So, has anybody else had this problem? Am I missing something incredibly obvious? Or is this just the way it is with the M8 and the current version of Nova? It's not enough to really annoy me, but the lack of animation is a bit jarring.
Thanks!

It really is weird, especially when I can't find ~anybody~ having the same problem on this device. It's almost like Nova freezes up slightly when it would normally be running the animation, as if it's conflicting with Sense 6 or some way the home button is rigged up.
Bizarre.
Right now, my options are either live with it (it isn't that annoying after all, it just bugs me) or go back to Sense (which runs lovely, but i can't get on with the vertically scrolling app drawer).

Are you on Sense or GPE or another ROM?
I use Nova and leave the app animation on system default. The animation works just fine (not to say that you don't have an issue but just to let you know that it should work). Do you have animations on your stock launcher (sense/google now launcher)? If not, then perhaps there is an issue with your device that may require a reset and reinstall?

I'm on Sense, completely stock. Nova was one of the first things to go on when I got the phone too. To be honest, I've just been using the Sense launcher in the last week and I'm getting used to it. Not as nice as nova, but pretty smooth and simple. Now, there are other things about KitKat that are annoying me even more. Really starting to consider rooting, althoughI've never done it before and I'm a little nervous. Maybe I should practice on my One X?

Hey guys,
while I'm extremely happy with the phone (awesome screen, perfect fingerprint location IMO, general form factor), I've come across three little problems:
1.) The biggest "flaw": Using another launcher / wallpaper than the stock one causes the face-unlock to be slower. And if you set another launcher / wallpaper, there will be a noticeable delay when you turn on the screen: The wallpaper will take longer to appear on the screen than everything else.
2.) The time between hitting the power button on the right / using the double-tap-to-wake feature and the screen actually turning on is almost a second. Coming from the 3T btw, where it almost felt instant.
3.) I'm not sure whether it's a flaw but it's just something that looks strange: The greyish navbar when using a dark-themed app. (I wouldn't really call this a problem, it's just a consistency flaw you notice, while operating the phone.
So first of all: Do you have the same impressions? It might very well just be my phone and you don't encounter these problems. But in another thread I already read about the face-unlock time taking longer, when using another launcher / wallpaper.
Thanks in advance for any replies and experiences!

Thanks Lum_UK, but I already tried that one. I find it to be a bit slow in overlaying the "correct" color, i.e. the overlay isn't always there from the beginning when opening an app.
And I'm not interested in rooting anymore.
You can force it to just black in that app, which may be preferable to the grey, and avoids the delay issue.
Otherwise, probably not much you can do unless a future OOS adds new options.

#2 is because of face unlock. Disable it and it will be instant.
Personally i use ambient display + lift up display so when i pick the phone i can see the clock and if needed, the double tap to wake in that screen is instant too

You can turn off the animation in Navbar Apps as well. That way the correct color will load much faster.
I don't use Face Unlock, but everything turns on instantly for me.
However, the nav bar color oscuro the worst and I can't wait to get back to a good AOSP firmware. OxygenOS is great and all but missing very important features I just can't live (comfortably) without.

Now could you still say something about "problem" #1? Do you observe the same or is it different? So if you use another launcher / wallpaper, will the wallpaper take longer to load then everything else?
1. agreed, same exact issue here.
2. i dont have that issue. both FP and FU are pretty much instant. sounds strange. maybe factory reset is really the way to go.
3. yea i agree, not optimal.

1. Force stop the OnePlus launcher.
2. Uninstall any updates to it.
3. Use the launcher you like. (Tested with lawnchairs and Nova)
At least for me, the wallpaper lag is gone!

For me this doesn't solve the problem. If the wallpaper is set through another launcher (Nova in my case) and if I use Nova, when using face unlock, i first see the lock screen for some split seconds and then it unlocks. If the lockscreen wallpaper is set through the OnePlus launcher itself, it skips the split seconds on the lockscreen completely and goes directly onto the homescreen which feels much more instantaneous. Also if I'm using a live wallpaper, like the nice new Pixel wallpapers which I wanted to use, the problem occurs even when setting the wallpaper through the OnePlus launcher and when using OnePlus launcher itself.
I've uninstalled the OnePlus launcher updates and tried to force stop it (although this wasn't possible as it seemingly wasn't even started to begin with), but nothing changed.
And yes, the wallpaper will often times take longer to appear on the screen than everything else, exactly like Dimitry from Hardware Canucks demoed in his review:
https://youtu.be/Kf93Nz_bgFs?t=7m48s
This looks very glitchy in my opinion but is of course rather nitpicky.
And as Sangraphim said, the time between hitting the power button on the right / using the double-tap-to-wake feature and the screen actually turning on is definetly prolonged when using face unlock - but that's probably by design I guess, because it starts the front camera first and waits a bit to detect a face before actually turning on the screen.
