Funny how they wait till Otterbox releases the Defender to finally release their rugged add on. Can't get me to believe that they just finished design & production, the phone has been our since June.

the only problem is having to take everything off to charge the extended batt. from what i have seen here, the evo wont charge these extended batt compleatly. so you have to charge them externaly.

anyone receive this yet have any comments about the case? im deciding whether or not to purchase this, or sacrifice my extended battery for the otterbox defender
! I HATE THIS PREDICAMENT! :/

yes please!!!! im going back to my stock battery trying to see if the battery life is "doable" for me right now.... otterbox defender case looks SO MUCH MORE SEXIER than the seidio rugged.. even though seidio has it for the extended battery. i jsut dont want it to breakdown like the original seidio rugged cases... -_-
if i go otterbox then that means i have 2 seidio plus wall charger on sale soon! XD

Mine gets delivered today. Since I won't risk using my EVO without it once it's here, it will be hard to be completely impartial, but I'll give my thoughts once I have it.

I have mine and I'm on the fence about it cause it is a little bigger then just the extended I have . I like the extended i was using but did not like the fact it would scratch the sides of phone when taking on and off .not having top and bottom protection was not a big deal but It did make me feel less secure about using the phone .
Now the extended rugged is nice not sure how I feel about it yet but it looks a lot more beefy and the fact I can use it as a weapon to hit somebody or throw it at some poor soul knock him out then pick it up and use it is cool ..but I'll put it on and see how well it fits in pocket and feels in hand ..
One of my favorites is still the otterbox commuter with sedio 1750 love the looks love the feel it's just nice ..
Now I have never done reviews but if you guys like I can take some pics or side by sides just let me know and I'd be happy to help you make your choice if you are still on fence

I just got my Extended Rugged combo today this morning. I will post pics after I work. It feels really sturdy. Definitely a brick now. I'm sure it would survive a drop easily. Sadly the kickstand is gone tho.

It takes awhile to put it on and take it off considering its bad to charge the battery in the phone. The rubber attracts dust. The headphone and the charge port are covered with the rubber case as a flap. It feels really sturdy, And once on the device it feels like a tank. It isn't as thick as it looks in the pictures feels nice in the hand and in my pockets ( I wear carpenter jeans a lot ). I don't have to worry about breaking the phone any more. Everything is well packaged and for 50 bucks you even get a holster with it. Everything fits together nicely and the buttons are still really easy to push. I never have had problems with the buttons once even tho in the pictures it looks like they aren't there. It is worth the 50 bucks tho, or 30 if you already have the innocase extended. This is the short review though, It will definitely hold up.

Looks very nice tracking says I'll get mine tomorrow now I'll finally have my phone protected at work and a holster I'm excited been waiting on this for awhile figured of wait for combo instead of just the extended

I love this case comes with extended holster for just using extended case and rugged holster with rugged case rugged case is very sturdy and feels very nice in hand I'm not concerned about dropping my evo anymore
the only complaint I might have is when u try to type far keys next to edge you hit case but on rare occasions
Overall definitely worth the wait plus integration with my seidio car dock using ext case is pure icing on the cake
The only reason I won't upgrade this phone is cause the sheer amount of accessories I bought to get it perfect and I'll wait till it dies

This looks like a major problem to me. Does anyone that hasthis case use one of the "slide style" keyboards? I use one and i'm worried I wont be able to "slide" over and hit the P or the Q. Can someone please let me know if this is true or not.
Also I have another question. Does that big beefy belt clip hold securely on a dress/casual type of belt or does it flop around? A friend of mine had the regular rugged case and he hated the holster because it wouldn't grab onto his regular sized belt it would flop around.

No, I was planning on possibly posting pics of the Ballistic Case to convince everyone that this is an awesome case. My wife and I are using the Cyclops right now, and it rocks. But I would like something more rugged for when I go to work.

I think I may stick with my Trident Cyclops until I can get a decent discount.

I have been waiting for this case for a while now!! I have been in constant contact with Ballistic about the release date and so forth through phone and email. After they posted the new pics of the redesigned back, and delayed the release even further...I went out and bought the Seidio Innocase Rugged with Holster and LOVE it!! Was considering the Otterbox Defender as I love the Impact and Commuter but the Defender got horrible reviews....
SO, with 40%, I will probably jump back on board. At $50....I'll stick with my RUGGED and like it!! The Seidio Rugged seriously is an AWESOME case, and having the Innocase too is nice. I bought it just for work, the evenings and weekends I let the Evo run around naked. Though I have found myself taking off the exoskeleton and silicone case and leaving on the Innocase in the evenings...its pretty nice!

I have to disagree on the Seidio case. I thought it was great when I first got it, but after just a couple weeks the port covers were tearing back into the case and I had to cut them off to stop the tearing. Then one day when I went to take the skeleton off, a piece of it just snapped off in my hand. The camera cover wouldn't stay pinned back anymore, so I had to cut that off too. Finally, the holster is a really poor design. The lock gets unlocked too easily and then the phone can just fall out. It should be made so you push down to lock it and pull up to unlock.

That sucks!! Hope that doesnt happen to mine. Mine is actually the Best Buy Platinum brand version. Which appears to be slightly different than the ones branded Seidio. I think they took the flaws from the Seidio branded cases and fixed it on the Platinum branded cases, or so I heard (really looks that way too). For those who dont know, the Platinum brand that Best Buys sells is just Seidio product with a different brand name stamped on it (it even says Seidio on the bottom of all of the packages :-D )

I bought my Seidio Rugged from Amazon..not a port cover has torn or a piece of the skeleton broke off in my hand.
I read this in all the reviews..and all I could do was facepalm and make the purchase KNOWING that these behemoths' were just trying to rip the case off rather than "REMOVE" it. A little finesse goes a long way.
I won't replace my Rugged, just like I never replaced my Seidio case for my G1 way back. I will cheat on my rugged for 40% off that sexy looking ballistic though..even though at full price it's ugly.

Mine lasted since the release date until I broke the skeleton a couple weeks ago. No problems with anything else. The rubber on the replacement they sent is quite a bit heavier and the exoskeleton a slightly different design. I told them it would be nice if just the skeletons were available to buy separately in the Seido store and they said they'd pass that on to sales. If you guys have any problems tell them the same. Oh yeah and colors would be nice too.

Colors would be nice too!! I like the Pearl White ActiveCase Limited Edition that they have on Amazon. White and black is just a sexy combo on the Evo...

Actually, I wasnt "ripping" it off. I just used my fingernail to pull back the corner and release it and it just fell off in my hand. However, I still use it every day and it still does a good job of protecting my EVO. I would just expect more from a case that costs $50 and claims to be "rugged". I preordered mine, so it was one of the first batch. Maybe the newer ones really are better.
Discount or not, I do plan on getting the red Ballistic case when they are available.

Yeah, I don't understand why he's talking about finesse with a "Rugged" case. Anyhow, my wife and I are both careful with our phones and don't rip the case off. And it chipped off on both of our phones.

Seidio Innocase Surface Combo short review

So I just got my Seidio Innocase Surface combo (50 bucks from the Seidio site). I have owned Seidio cases or holsters for just about every smartphone I have owned. I normally wait for them to show up at other outlets because they are usually cheaper, but this time I couldn't wait.
Starting with the case. For me it is a mixed bag. My last Seidio case was for my iPhone 3GS, and I loved it. I am not so sure about this case. The two halves fit the phone well, and the cut outs are seem accurate, but the connection seems a bit flimsy. I had to make several attempts to get all the "connections" to click together. This design for connecting the two halves together doesn't feel as secure as my iPhone case. This case connects front to back. The iPhone design joined a top to a bottom. The iPhone was inserted into the top and was very secure. The MT4G case just does not inspire confidence in me.
Barring the two halves separting the case feels great. It is nice and tight on the phone. Update: No, it is not tight! More info in another post below. The Innocase Surface has a rubberized finish which gives it a good no-slip grip. The case doesn't add any real bulk to the phone. It still slips into the pocket with no problems. I ordered the sapphire blue which is really dark. In medium to low light it almost looks black. I really like that.
The holster is just as awesome as any Seidio holster I have owned. It feels solid, and I love that it is felt lined, and the phone faces in. No issues there except one, and that goes back to the case. When the phone comes out of the case the clip rubs across the case where the two halves join together, and I have to pull on the phone in such a way that I wonder if I will end up pulling off the case. It hasn't happened and it might not. Again, going back to my recent iPhone case, there was no danger of the case separating when being pulled out of the holster because the force is mostly front to back (remember the phone face inward).
Bottom line: mixed feelings. Holster: awesome. Case: jury is still out. I will trial this and see how it goes. I am already eyeballing some TPU cases. I am not sure if they will work with the holster, but they are cheap.
I am not advising against buy this combo, but I would wait for these Seidio cases to show up at other locations and save a few bucks.

Well I never used it before but like you also order the combo as I am not buying BodyGlove Clear shell any more. But far as the Innocell 1600mAh goes I want you to completely discharge it and then recharge it then discharge it do this 3 times and fully charge it.
Then check and post the full mAh, V_MBat voltage for stock and then Innocell so we can see the difference. Also do a though test and tell us the usage difference between stock and Innocell in detail with total uptime. I can't say I have ever heard of Innocell but ill wait for Mugen power to release MT4G stock size battery.

Not to hijack my own thread, but my understanding of Li-Ion batteries is that they do not need to be discharged/charged. I can't post links yet, but there is great website called "batteryuniversity" with loads of good battery info on it.
I see you have a Seidio case, what do you think of it so far?

Well I am aware of that as many is also that claiming fully discharging LiIo will damage the memory cell and shortens the life. But it always worked better for us and this is not just me it been tested by so many folks. For optical performance in my own test I found after 2-3 discharge completely and fully charging it over the course of 1week I saw the difference in same battery compared to when I got it.

I have been cycling most of my Li ion batts over the years and I have noticed a better performance out of them. I never did it 3 times.
Out of the box I kill the phone. The go to full charge. Kill it again and charge fully. After that I play normally.

So I am recanting my statement that the case is tight on the phone. That is only a "half" truth. Actually, the back half of the case is okay, but the front half of the case is not tight...at all. When I hold it I can actually hear the front part of the case moving against the phone (as well as see it). This is the exact opposite of my Seidio slide on iPhone 3GS case which perfect. Very disappointed in this case.

Just got the Seidio case today
It seems to fit very tightly be much sturdier than the in-store case. Love the combo of a strong, hard case and a little bit of soft grip. I have no idea if it'll take a 'punch' like a gel case, but it seems resistant.
Wish there were more options between this $30 case and the .99 ones on amazon. This may be the best case available for the mt4g right now, but I don't know if it's worth $30.
Only real complaint is that it smells weird--can only hope that fades with time.

here is what I was thinking...
If you could cut out a hole in the Innocase 2 Surface, then another hole for the Rugged " skin... would the Rugged "Skeleton? fit?

On the first one you'll have to cut off the locking mechanism to the case. You wont be able to securely snap it on. Assuming the locking mec is in the middle of the two pieces. The second one will require you to cut off everything above the kickstand so the bottom half will not have be attached to the two top corner. I'll just fall off.

I do not see why you would have to cut the sides at all, the beck extends out, not the sides.

I considered doing this with my Incredible but never pulled the trigger. I thought it might be possible. I didn't have the extended battery to try it out.

No doubt seidio will come along with their case that fits their 3500mAh battery. Honestly I don't want an even larger battery adding bulk, the 2750mAh is fine.
I did contact HTCPeida shop and they replied back that they are working on a case for the ThunderBolt with extended battery. Of course they did say "it will take some time, but check back often". In the word of offshore manufacturing and low costs in china how hard can it be to get a TPU case with an opening in the back. Not that hard or so it seems it is.

I bought the seido case that comes with all the piecesi linked (three total). It fits decently without the first layer, the camera flap has tobe removed or flipped under the rubber layer, and the kick stand is a bit difficult to use.

I emailed Seidio about their 3500mAh battery and of cases that would fit it. All I got was the typical reply, we do plan on offering it, but we do not have an eta at this time.

I would not buy the Seidio Battery. They get very bad reviews and I have sent two back.
You are better off with the original HTC Extended battery.

No. Look at the design of the extended cover, theirs is full and not just a little bump

So, Ive been buggin the crap out of Seido with requests for them to make an extended case. Ive emailed them, dropped in on their thread here, and posted on their facebook. Today they responded to my FB post with this.
"Seidio commented on their Wall post.

Well, supposedly theres another one also coming out, and if they dont theres always doing the Frankencase.
Im thinking that the first batch of those covers sucked. Ive heard a lot about that but mine fits PERFECT even after I dropped my phone. My screen however cracked and pushes the need for one of these cases.

I was planning to buy the ballistic MAXX or case mate phantom for my SGS3 9300, since i wanted something to protect my device fully for the next 3 years (contract). then i encountered this thread about batteries, & I'm really tempted to buy the anker 4400mAh+a good case for it from that thread's list. but no matter which case i choose, non of them is as massive as the ballistic or phantom.
I do have an access for power line most of my time outside the house, but the thought i no longer need to think about it at all until bed time sounds very good to me. is there any case as massive as the ones i mentioned for the device which fits the anker battery?

Depends on how clumsy you think you are. If you drop it at least once a day, go with the case. If you're near a power source most of the time anyway, don't sweat it.

I have had ALL the hardcore cases and not one stacks up against the Phantom.

if you're a student and have a backpack with you most of the time..this may be an option. i know it's not a case + extended batt but it's another option you can consider. can also use it to charge your tablet or laptop with the right tips.

for me personally i drop my phone a lot, so i need a rugged case and i don't mind carrying an extra standard size battery in my pocket.
you can buy 2 standard size anker batt with charger for 15 bucks on amazon.

I worked recommend the otterbox defender, or the new sedio obex. Both are to your spec the obex is waterproof. I pack charged batteries instead of extended as I get the best protection. I am not in the military but aside my phone drinking, hiking, rock climbing, camping, and hunting. My otterbox had taken allot but didn't look it. The obex I will have within a week but expect better protection.

Thanks for everyone who replied here, but i decided full protection will be the best, so will order the case mate phantom. (Ballistic shipment to my country is 39$, defender just become to loose with the rubbrr thats why im going for the phanton)

when i was in ibiza my phone went flying probably a good 5 meters in the air and dropped onto cement, not a scratch anywhere, not even my kraken case.
the case did come apart but ppl said it's meant to do that to disperse the impact.

I have an otterbox defender and it is great at protecting the phone. The only problem is that if you remove it a couple of times the silicon outer layer stretches and never fits right again. Does anybody have any recommendations that include a built in screen saver?

that's the reason I'm not going for the defender, it seems like a known defect in this series!
same category cases are the case mate phantom & ballistic SG maxx.
also, the Trident Kraken, but i watched a drop test video of it in youtube, and although they say the case is suppose to come apart when falling, I'm not taking any chances!

UPDATE: changed my mind about the phantom case! according to many reviews, there is an issue with the proximity sensor & some are having an issue with sound quality during phone calls.
DEFENDER is out as well, since most of buyers report the silicon to get loose after a month or two!
BALLISTIC SG MAXX seems ok, but eventually it's to bulky like the above.
i thought about it, and while the phone is expensive, it's just a damn phone! I'm not gonna use a pricey smartphone for the next 3 years, but with great discomfort of a bulky case that can't even fit my jeans pockets right!
currently thinking about the UAG Urban Armor Gear, just need to find the huge 74 pages post about it here on the forum, to read the users reviews. should protect the phone nicely, not like the above but i will have to watch out for it and be careful, & it looks pretty good as well.

Stop! U can mod easily trident kraken and fit a 4400 Anker in it. I did this and I have everything in one shot!
About drop test the hard layer is taking apart but I've dropped mine on concrete from 1.5 mt and I'm impressed with results

watching the trident kraken's youtube drop test, its a bit scary! the case just fall apart, leaving the phone with extra 1-2 bounces all alone with the silicon! so I'm not sure about it much.
but out of curiosity, what is this mod? you have an instruction video or something?
