I'm trying to partition my sd to get the ext system on it. I have the latest clockwork recovery as well as rom manager. I try to partition sd from both and it does wipe everything thats for sure. But when i check in titanium backup there is no sd /ext. Is it just me or is the clockwork not working. Would reflashing help? Or is there another program out there. I know Amon Ra hasn't made a recovery for the g2 yet.
What class is your sd card? If you are trying to make an ext4 partition I believe you need at least a class 4.

I have a class 2 8gb. Just checked it. That's odd. I was able to do it via amon ra when I was still using my mytouch 3g. Ext2 then to 3 then to 4. If only I could find that damn phone. Is there any other way to get it
edit: Just read that the class of the sd doesnt matter in regards to partitioning. I think it has something to do with clockwork mod. I prefer to have amon ra work on one for the g2

Hello,
I've been searching for an answer but haven't found anything clear yet. I'm trying to partition my SD card so I can put my apps on it. I want the app data stored as well so when I switch ROMs I don't lose anything. An example would be Angry Birds I read that the partition SD card option in ROM manager doesn't work on the DINC and you can't partition it through CWM recovery. How can I do this other than using the Amon_RA recovery? I am having problems flashing that recovery on my DINC for some reason...

Thanks! Worked like a charm! My last question would be what do I need to do from here to get the apps on my sd-ext? Is there a guide for this?
I used ROM manager to flash to Amon Ra Recovery v1.8.0. I'm using the Premium version of ROM manager by the way. I booted into recovery but when I click on install zip from SD card it won't search or come up with anything.
I don't know if it's just me but when I try to flash CWM recovery I get an error in ROM manager. I'm trying to use RA to wipe dalvik but now I'm stuck. I'll do a search for flashable recoveries so I can just do it that way but does anyone know why I can't browse SD card.
:: Just a side note::
I'm using my second SD card which I formatted 2 days ago. It basically has like 5 things on it and I've had this problem since the beginning but never bothered to investigate since I was able to download and flash CWM recovery.
The zip file has to be on the root of your sd card. It is probably in the download folder if you dont see it. Use astro file manager to move the zip to the root.

Ok I will try that.

Have you tried flashing thru terminal app? That was the easiest method for me.

Yah you can't browse your sd card in the install section. I dont believe you ever could. Astro like dude said is the easiest way to move a file without a computer.
There's only two problems with Amon_ra recovery vs. Clockwork Mod recovery:
1. You can't browse all your files on the root of your SD card in Amon_RA. It only lets you see what will fit on the screen of your. Where as in clockwork you can scroll.
2. Amon_RA doesn't have advanced restore options. In clockwork you can choose to restore only data such as apps, texts, and other settings.
I can't flash clockwork. There's always an issue with ROM manager.

In his new release you can. Its just not ported to the evo yet.
When did clockwork get the second features? Those ate cool. Done flaws with clockwork:
1. Doesn't backup radios.
2. Has wiping bugs.
Other than those its cool.

I am using energy 3.5 sense rom with an anthrax kernel. I just got my new 32gb sd card and have been looking into partitioning it. I tried once and couldnt seem to find the ext2 folder. I put my 8gb card back in. I have done some looking into it some and am wondering what is the best way to partition with clockworkmod? after i do get my sd card partitioned do i have to reflash the rom and kernel? I read it in a tutorial but was wondering if it was essential. Also, if i go to AmonRa 2.3 where can i find it? i can never seem to find where to download it.
Thanks guys im still trying to learn.
Here's the Amon-RA recovery which you can still flash CWM recoveries if you choose to http://www.mediafire.com/?6eo9jo7fdazp2 you may also want to read this thread on partitioning your SD card http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386911

Yep, Moreno is dead on the money. I partitioned mine with Amon-Ra and had zero problems. Of course, then I accidently wiped my SD Card while doing a flash and had to start over. Make sure you use Dark Tremors Apps2SD after installing your ROM to take full advantage of your partition (but you probably already knew that!).

is it true that after partitioning your sdcard that older nandroids you have from where the sdcard was not partitioned cant be used without causing some issues?
It shouldn't be a problem... I believe I have seen that question before and the dev kinda of covered that with this recovery, he actually did a fantastic job so to be honest you won't have any issues as far as that, it still should do the trick.
Ok thanks. Was also wondering if it's necessary to do a fresh download/install of all apps from the market?

Basically the problem I am seeing is when I try wiping sd ext in recovery (using ra-3.0.7gnm, a modified amon ra which has never given me problems since install months ago) I was getting an error that it could not be wiped and would be skipped. My next step was to repartition the sd card in recovery (8gb class 10 pny). That seemed to work but when I attempted to upgrade ext 2 to ext 3 it gave an error and would not let me. Currently I am using my computer to create the ext 3 partition but what could be causing the recovery to fail upgrading the partition? Any advice or recommendation or should I switch recovery? Tia.

As the title says I can't restore from backups I just made. I get an oops.....something went wrong. Please check recovery.log, but when I try to move rrecovery.log to sd it gets an error too.
It's not renamed anything with spaces or weird characters.
I flashed cwm and uses that to restore the nandroid I made, but it didn't restore properly and half the apps didn't restore. This has been an issue for a very long time. Accross 2 ssd cards.
Any help is appreciated.

When you backed up and restored did you check the sd ext option. If your rom is utilizing a2sd that's where your apps would be if you are partitioned.

No, I didn't check that. I'm not running a2sd right now and don't have a partition for it currently

If you aren't using sd-ext, are having this problem with two different SD cards and can't copy the recover.log to your SD card, three things come to mind that could be the problem:
1) Your amon-ra recovery is corrupt somehow and you need to reflash Amon-ra
2) The SD you used when you made the backups was bad or somehow when you made the backups they got corrupted for some reason.
3) The flash memory on your phone (the internal storage) is somehow going/gone and can no longer be read/written correctly. (This wouldn't explain why you can't copy the log file, though).
The first would be relatively easy to check, but if you made the nandroids with a corrupt version of Amon-ra they still might not restore right even if you reflash Amon-ra.
For checking number 2 you could go into your Nandroid directory and try manually extracting the files to see if they are corrupt or not.
If it is the third problem, I guess you would need to RMA/exchange your phone-- not sure how you would actually check for this problem but I guess if you can flash a clean/new ROM and it works fine it probably isn't this.
Good luck!
You can also try flashing the Amon RA Style recovery from this thread:

As long as there isn't a problem with the actual nandroid, this recovery restores both CWM and Amon RA.

So is this an issue with the Rezound or the Evo?
If it's with the Rezound then there may be some people with that phone that know more than we know, and therefore may be able to help. If it's with the Evo, then I am not quite sure why this information is relevant.
