I need an H3G branded rom for the DESIRE HD. I have found a post in the forums
but the file seems to be corrupted. Does anyone have this ?
Are you sure that h3g has branded roms?
I bought mine with a h3g contract and the phones in austria seem to have unbranded stock roms.

Yeah my phone came with a branded rom originally. Not sure where i can find it...

Thank you for your answer regarding the easy ace removal tool. what i would like to know is do i have to go install a new RUU from htcdev.com? because i download the one for h3g but the feedback i got was that it wasnt the right download for the right model. and can i continue with the rest of the process on htcdev without installing a new RUU?

Depends. What did the tool say when you tried to run it? If you need a RUU and can't find a compatible one, make a goldcard and flash any RUU that supports hboot unlock.

Wait, if you're S-Off, just flash a recovery and flash a ROM from there.

Wait, how did you try to flash it? That link is for the boot splash, not the recovery. Download a recovery img, flash it from fastboot with "fastboot flash recovery *img filename*" and flash a ROM from the recovery.

i tried flashing it with this fastboot flash "fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-touch-5.8.0.0-ace.img" from the tutorial at http://theunlockr.com/2012/10/02/how-to-install-clockworkmod-recovery-on-the-htc-desire-hd/ and got that "writing 'recovery' ... FAILED (remote: not allowed)" error. i tried the link in my previous promised to set my fon to ENG S-OFF which would in turn solve the "(remote: not allowed)"error and enable me to use fastboot.
Um...is your phone in fastboot mode? Like, did you select fastboot from the hboot menu?
yes i did. and now this is what it says "FAILED (status read failed (too many links))". for some reason im unable to add the screenshot to the post else i would have. what does it mean "too many links"?
still not working
@bananagranola no further tips for me?
Nope. Never seen than error before. Maybe someone else has.
I recently attempted to root my desire with unrevoked. It seemed to go well and i attempted to flash a custom rom. I made a nandroid back up too. However, now the device is stuck in boot loop and i can't flash another rom or restore from nandroid backup. I've tried pushing roms from fastboot, running the telstra RUU and nothi g has worked. The closest i have got to it working is on the bootloader, it automatically detects that i have Pb99DIAG.zip and tries to install that but says it cannot verify signature.
I have a pvt4 desire with hboot version 0.93.0001 if that is any help
I apologise if this has been posted before but i have been tring to get this fixed for ages Any help will be appreciated.
Why can't you flash another rom?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I've tried heaps of roms and none of them seem to install. They all say the rom cannot be found or something.
What recovery do you use?
Also does the sd card mount if you try that in recovery? What does it say when you try to connect it to usb?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
Did u integrate amonra-recovery in unrevoked before starting to root with it? Imo the standardrecovery in unrevoked, clockworkmod, does not work with pvt4- desires.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I used amonra. When i try to mount the ext sdit just comes up with an error saying i cant....
Toggle signatur verify (amonra-recovery>other>toggle signatur vetify) and then try to flash again.

So you S-OFFed and then ran Telstra RUU ?
That is supposed to bring your phone to stock. Now you are S-ON or OFF ?
My phone is s-on. When i rooted it with unrevoked it didn't turn s-off. I tried that signature verify thing and it still won't work :S

Rooting and S-OFF-ing are two completely different things. You got confused.
You have to do them both in order to install certain ROMs.
Please check this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084
Which ROM do you wish to install ?
i want tog back to the telstra 2.2 rom. I have rooted my phone, but i can't do the s-off thing aith alpharev cause it won't turn on properly

I recently bought a Desire (A8183) and it came with HBOOT 0.75.0000 and I am trying to get S-OFF on it. I tried using AlphaRev and it came up with an error in step 3. How do I overcome this?
The phone still works fine.

1st: Wrong topic, you should post it in Q&A.
2nd: Have you flashed any custom ROM??? If so, thats why you cannot S-OFF it, try any near-to-stock, froyo rooted rom and then try again, this will do the trick
Cheers

Oops, wrong subforum, didn't realise.
Yes I'm running a custom ROM I'll try a Froyo-based ROM and see if that helps.
It's a shame that Revolutionary doesn't support this version of HBOOT, is there any way of 'tricking' Revolutionary to S-OFF the 0.75 HBOOT?

Moving to Q&A
You can always update bootloader... if you have a goldcard then put the attached file in the root of your sd-card, and then boot into bootloader and wait for it do do it's thing.. when it prompts you select yes. This will update your bootloader to version 0.93.1002
You shouldn't lose any data, but do make a backup of the ROM in recovery in case you get a bootloop.
Then run Revolutionary.

I downloaded the file and put it on the root sdcard... Bootloader seemed to just skip over the file though.
Do I need to change the text file in the zip to my CID or anything else? It doesn't like it
you need a goldcard, so it ignores the CID.. or actually.. what network are you on?
EDIT: Just noticed lol
Wait I'm downloading a Telstra RUU and I'll give you a new PB99IMG
try this. If not, then you can always use the RUU to do a full update, and then S-OFF and flash a custom ROM.
Thanks I'll give it a try.
I have four microSD cards at home and I've tried gold carding all of them... I don't know how successful I was cos I couldn't do what I wanted on the Desire HD

try the goldcard tutorial I posted.
Okay, well I'm gonna get to sleep now but I'll give you some advice before you go.
If you can't update the bootloader with that, I'd suggest backing up your ROM (if you havent done so already), flashing the RUU to bring it up to the latest bootloader version, and then using revolutionary.
Once you've S-OFF'd with revo. Use android flasher to flash recovery (Note: your backup will not work if you do not flash the same version of recovery) and then do a full wipe and flash a ROM of your choice.
Would you happen to know where I can get the original Telstra RUU from? I think that might be my best bet.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks - this looks like it worked now HBOOT 0.93.0001, running revolutionary now.
Is there any benefit in upgrading HBOOT at all? What does 1.02.0001 offer?
Hboot 1.xxxx is the stock hboot for gingerbread. So it offers you nothing. By flashing a hboot like cm7 (most roms fit in this hboot), you get much more space for installing apps, because its /data partition is much bigger.

I flashed BlackRose Hboot in my HTC Desire and then run latest RUU, It appear HTC logo and 4 triangles at each corner after flashing. Someone tell me BlackRose Hboot is just for NexusOne and then I flashed bravo_alphasp1.img but failed.
Can you help me?
did RUU process finish?
can you boot to fastboot?

try to flash alpharev downgrade via fastboot and reboot again to fastboot
then run ruu and pray...
This has happened before in the sandvold irc. It lasted a while before I left. I'm not sure if it got fixed in the end. We tried everything we could think of. I certainly had decided it was bricked. Last I knew, _thalamus had started asking qquestions so if anyone knows whether it was recovered, it will be him...

Not much help at this point but I had a desire in the same state a few weeks ago and it lives and breathes again. For the life of me I cant remember how I finally fixed it.
I believe I had to create a goldcard and flash an RUU.
IIRC you have a Locked bootloader. There is a section on the HTC website that might help.
what happens when you try to flash an alpharev hboot?

That's just great. Apparently Black Rose employs a similiar protection like Alpharev. Better contact the dev team of BR, and get them to help unlock it.

Unlock it, then flash Alpharev followed by Boot, Recovery and Radio for the Desire (NOT Nexus One!).
Once you get the correct radio and recovery on it, you can install a custom rom.

Wow...
Did you flashed blackrose on your desire?
First, disable flashing protect by using blackrose installer.
(Advanced section, ignore device list)
Then, fastboot flash hboot (alpharev image file name)

Morning,
Please recently i have flashed a new Custom ROM in my HTC Desire A8181 that i found in ClockWorkMod web site!!! I flashed it in my phone with Rom Manager Premium v4 because more recent ROM Manager didn't install in my HTC Desire with Android 2.1 update 1. The Recovery that i used is one which installed by unrevoked3! The Problem is after installation of new ROM my phone doesn't boot well! It show the first white screen with HTC writed on it after it's showing black screen with ANDROID writed on it and stop there! No more action!!! I don't understand!!!
My radio is 4.05.00.11
HBOOT 0.75.0000
S-ON
I can't pass in S-OFF because revolutionnary doesn't work with my model HBOOT! How can i do! I wonder if it's possible to reinstall a new ROM in Recovery mode!!!
use bortak's troubleshooting guide stickied to the top of Q&A
you'll need to RUU, recommend the 2.3.3 GB one. then use revolutionary to s-off. afterwards flash 4ext recovery (see my sig), it's better and can partition your sd card properly. then full wipe and flash a new rom.
uninstall rom manager, do not use it on this phone, it is bad for desire. it may be the reason you're having these problems in the first place.
Problem with fastboot or bootloader!
Please, i can't use fastboot in my PC well! When i try some instruction like flash my hboot to a newer in fastboot SDK because my hboot is too old to be S-OFF by revolutionnary I got an error! It say it can verify the signature of my bootloader! That's what writen in my command!
c:\fastboot>fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphasspl.img
sending 'hboot' (512KB)...
OKAY [ 0.095s]
writing 'hboot'...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote:signature verify fail)
finished. total time: 0.169s
It does same thing i try to erase system, boot or userdata! Please help!
slow down, have you even followed the guide?
- have you installed the fastboot drivers in order to be able to use it.
- you can't flash an hboot unless you are s-off
- run the 2.3.3 RUU like i said, then s-off using revolutionary
try the guide again..
Okay! Thanks i think that Download RUU Froyo like it says in the tread is the most way for me to resolve my problem!!!
