[Q] i beg a themer to work on dell streak lol - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

hi
i had galaxy s and now on dell streak and its a nice phone but lacks comunity and lacks roms and themes. infact there is no themes on there, can any theme hobbiest whip up a theme for the streak. i duno like port a theme of your own to the dell streak? it would def open up a door for extra donations cause there is nothing else on there to compete

i mean its only the framework which needs theming, most stock apps on dell streak seem to be third party. i mean for a price. if someone is interested give me a price and if its reasonable i will pay it for the themes here to be ported on the dell streak

na its on 2.2.2
sad thing is there is only one dev for the phone who makes roms. who is also working on cm6, cm7 and 3.0 port, all on his own. it lacks community and devs. the phone has so much potential but just lacks the people behind it to push it forward

how hard would it be to port a theme. i mean is it a case of just copying over all the png png.9 and xml over to the dell streak framework and wolla lol

Then why don't you get a domain name and create a site?
he was just asking if there was a website...
because i dont feel like redownloading and cracking fireworks and dreamweaver
but in the future i might just do that and use it as turn it in as project for my web design class
btw im in the 11th grade
=]
ahh.. gives me ideass to make a theme webiste.. lol.. if you make one i'll help contribute some themes to it .. just have to wait until putting themes on your phone becomes easier for the end user that doesn't know about XDA .. and flashing .. and what the heck a Root is
It is kind of humorous.
I was in the market for a new phone and was looking at the Iphone since it came out. Three or four guys at work showed me their phones and I was hooked, damned be the Iphone's good looks.
After having my phone for two weeks I noticed that the stuff coming out on the Android Market was usefull, but since I like things like Overclocking, you know... bigger...better...faster, I stumbled onto this website about a 2 weeks before the root RC30>RC29 breakthrough. I am trying to keep up because I think this android thing is gonna be really big and I am trying to keep up.
Its been along time since I have done any difficult computer stuff, and these forums has caused me to start considering learning something about Linux.
Themes and Wallpapers will probably get alot easier in the future, but I will be able to look back and say, I remember when we used to have to do things the hard way.
Yes indeed .. the Android in a lil shy of 3 months has already made so much progress
the android system will be come soo universal that the iphone will pale in comparison unless apple changes how they go about things , hardware wise
i think the iphone's hardware is a masterpeice but, the OS is like a trainwreck
ooooo imagine an iphone with android that would be pretty badass
but anyways
the free-ness and the ubiquidocity that will become of the android system
will lead too greatness

Went from a newborn on 22 October to it's current state as a cute lil' toddler with it's own personality already in just 3 months.
Now there's root for all thanks to JesusFreke; Koush has the screenshot and autorotate browser, we've got a good collection of themes started, 190 apps on Market and 140 games.
Our lil' Android is growing up. Ahh, they grow up so fast, don't they?
you are damn right they do
well the android system anyways its like a baby on steroids and growth hormone
Hi guys...I am thinking about creating a website that will host G1 themes, backgrounds, icon sets...etc. Kinda like a one site for all G1 stuff. If I were to create this website, would I have support from the G1 XDA crew, like providing with themes and what not?
Also, I will need some people to help me run the website and stuff so if you have experience, let me know
Cheers
Sounds like a pretty sweet idea, because I have a feeling this whole thing is gonna skyrocket once the Android usage hits critical mass later this year. I'd try to contribute on such a site, no doubt.

Reasons I'd consider waiting are as follows:
1, When CupCake is released, what kind of impact will this have on the theming community.
2, Maybe wait until all themes are cross platform compatible (i.e. we don't need separate RC8, RC30, and ADP1 versions)
3, Maybe wait until the first theming program is release, so people not aware don't try to randomly flash and jack up their phone.
4, Do we really need a dedicated website already? Have we even hit the 10 theme mark yet? (Also, aren't they all in here right now anyway?)
These are just my thoughts. Others' will probably differ.
Sounds like a great idea i am down check your p.m box.
I have the recources for this web site, but i can not develope it. If someone can make the website, i can host it. P.M me for more information.
I 100% agree with Mi|enko.
Wait it out man.... the operating system is changing so fast that you don't want to waste the money. There are rumors of Google releasing a theme creator which will be available "online". (You will create your theme from Gmail.com and it will sync with your phone).
That would mean your website goes down the hole REAL quick...

I have the Honeycomb extracted system.img from the sdk uploaded to mediafire, (mediafire is a lot faster IMO) if anybody wants to take a crack at it, have at it. If you count Android version as one OS, it should be many more ;].
Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb.
And not Android OSes: Windows Mobile 6.5, Windows Phone 7, Ubuntu, MeeGo. Does Windows 95/98 are counted too? If yes, it makes 10 in total, and 8 usable . Of course if we count like we should Android as one OS, it would make 5 systems. Even then it's damn sky high as majority of smartphones run just one dedicated OS.
Isn't Honeycomb strictly a tablet OS? I tried to use the normal HD2 res on it and 240 display density and got only force closes when trying to boot it on my PC.
I have just got used to Gingerbread and now we could get Homenycomb??? Maaan, this would be awesome I only want the devs to take their time to improve Gingerbread as much as possible.
Why would you want a tablet based os on such a little screen like the hd2. Makes no sense to me. I do believe this is one ill stay away from..

Yea ok, i bet if its ported and runs nice u will flash! lol
Just caught eye of this new story. It appears Honeycomb won't be limited to tablets. There's mention of a phone version to be released later this year.
Honeycomb love. Outstanding! Because the preview version impressed me. A lot different from the usual Android. I would love having this on my HD2.

[Q] I rooted my G2. . . now what?

Well, it's officially been two months since I got my G2. What else is there left for me to do?
- I've already got SIM Unlock, superCID, and radio S-OFF.
- I've already got CM7 Nightly 92 w/ Pershoot's latest Gingerbread kernel.
- I've already got backups of Virtuous, Virtuous G-Lite, and CM7.
- I've already installed Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) and set up lxde.
- I've already overclocked and underclocked my CPU.
What else is there left for me to do? Can I dual-boot between different mobile operating system platforms (i.e. Symbian^3/Maemo 5, Windows Mobile, HP webOS/Palm OS, etc.)? Can I do ANYTHING else other than flash a ROM/Kernel and overclock? Or is this it?
You have done pretty much everything there is to. The next step is start cooking up your own stuff. I'm guessing you all ready have adb working. You can download apk manager http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=695701 and start doing some themeing of your own or port some themes for your favourite roms.
And if your feeling really adventurous have a go at building your own roms, there is a really easy to use rom kitchen here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
If your computer is up to it you could try building cm from source have a look at the cm wiki http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Building_from_source
I don't think there is anyway to use any of the other OS's you metioned. But some one is working on a project to dual boot android roms, the concept is awesome it would be cool to dual boot between sense and CM, have a look here for more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=847423 this is a WIP though

You gotta be kidding me. So you're telling me there's no way I can get Maemo/Symbian^3/webOS on my phone as a dual-boot? Is there at least a ROM of Touchwiz or even MOTOBLUR? I'm sick and tired of HTC Sense.
On the xda app so can't see your Sig. Siulmagic did do a droid x port http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1051229 so you can give motoblur a try.

Windows Phone 7 is a closed platform, so its pretty close to impossible to port it to other platforms, in my understanding. I believe the only reason HD2 can run it, is because MS actually developed a WP7 version for HD2. As far as the old Windows Mobile versions, its obsolete and a pile, and the only reason to run it, is if you need to run some legacy software. Similarly, Symbian is all but dead at this point, as Nokia moves to WP7.

Not too familiar with the Blackstone, but probably just a matter of developer interest. The Blackstone seems to have pretty similar specs to my old Touch Pro 2 (in terms of CPU and memory), and the TP2 does run Android. Although the TP2 Android project was pretty slow and laggy when I last played with it in December or so (but it looks like a lot more work has been done on the project).

Even if you could load other OSes onto it, so what? Would that radically change your smartphone experience, and what you do with you phone day to day? Not really.

Well for starters you could settle down and control your compulsiveness to jack with your phone. Android is probably the best OS out there, no reason to port to an inferior one. You are the first I have heard that has wanted a port to all these other variances. Most others are happy with the Android OS and like the custom ROMs and ways we can customize our devices already.
My advice to you... find a well paying job, squander all your money with buying yourself a brand new phone every month or two without contract. Maybe port all this other crap yourself. You seem to complain a lot, so intead of doing that, make your own ports and ROMs. That oughta make you happy
you could download eclips and the android sdk start making your own apps

I don't really know what you are expecting, its a phone. how much more could you want it do to? compare it a iPhone, then you would be limited. If your desperate for a Touchwiz or Motoblur Rom, port it your self. The reason why these ROM's haven't been done is because there not rated very highly particularly Motoblur.

dude, what else do you want to do? I guess that's a good question to ask. There are literary tons of stuff to do with your phone. There are numerous ports with this phone you can try. You wanna play dual core games like samuarai vengeance 2 eventhough you don't have dual core? Go right ahead with chainfire3d. You can theme your phone how ever you want with icons, colors, ANYTHING. What other operating system allows you to do this? How would you be better off with ANY other OS? You can easily flash themes and such to make it looks like touchwiz, or motoblur. you can even make it look like honeycomb for goodness sake. Fool around with the UOT kitchen and cook up some fancy looking themes are icons.
I suggest you do a little searching around on xda, OTHER than the G2 thread because there are tons of stuff that apply to alot of phones that aren't just found in that device's forum. Its dumb for you to judge the one OS that actually ALLOWS you to do whatever you want to it.
The end.

You seem fixated on just loaded different OSes, and just don't want to accept the answers people are giving you. People have already gave tons of suggestions. But you aren't interested in listening.
MotoBlur and TouchWiz are trash, anyway. Not much more than cosmetic changes to the launcher, and other general theming. You can easily mess around with those things yourself, as several others have already suggested.

DARKEDGE THEME for SG2

So far the Darkedge Theme is the best dark/black theme...if some "good themers" could port it to our Galaxy S2...that would be just fantastic...i think we would not need other black themes ! Darkedge in my opinion is the best we could find in the android world, notice that the system is inverted, all writing is white on black background in all apps, notice also that all details have been "retouched", that why it looks like the perfect theme! this is for sure a hard work..but if "some" themers could work on it, it is for sure worth it ! by the way we would need also the authorization for the original maker, i could ask him to start !
more pics from Darkedge theme
Looks good, any developer going to port it??
really cool ..... I like it!
i have been in contact with the dev about the theme which is originally made for the droid, he told me that the theme will be re-arranged for android 2.3...the problem is that i dont know if it will compatible with our sg2...and another fact, is that he said it will be this year...but when exactly ?? so , a port now would be nice...
Afaik, Darkedge is a Droid exclusive. Dont think ive ever seen a full port to another device :/

I ported parts of this to another device but the problem is that the theme has some heavy XML modifications which is not easy to do unless you got some mad skills.
Just port some graphics over shouldnt present much of a problem but you wont get the full 100% experience then
I'm aware that the XML are the most difficult part of it...we need help of a Dev maybe and not a themer ...porting a this theme is definitely worth it.
I can port it over but id need a dev on board to do the xml files..
It can be done though

Finally, if all this wasn’t enough for the Android community, Xeudoxus has been working overtime to port the DarkEdge theme to Koush’s CyanogenMod. DarkEdge for CM will also being made available publicly for the first time today. Do note, however, that CM’s version is still in an alpha stage, and not everything may look perfect, or work as smoothly as the ESE-81 version of DarkEdge.

KDDI Infobar UI

I dont know how to port ROMs but wouldnt it be cool if we could get something like this on the Hero: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103398&page=2
Its probably a bit heavy for the Hero but I'd settle for a stripped version ...
I'm sure this will be near impossible but I also thought having Sense 2.1 would be impossible. What do the more expert devs think?
Dude, it's awesome , but where is it from? Is it a launcher from somewhere or a rom? Is there any sources about this thing, but the video? It should be possible to port, but it would be an huge advantage if we had something to port it from

yes it is awesome! there are no official sources but if you look on the 2nd page someone has kindly got a dump of /system. I dont know if this is enough. its a full ROM not just a launcher. Where would you even start when porting something like this??

I can't port anything And then it has to be resized as the phone has qHD resoloution (like the Sensation and EVO 3D, so probably easier to port to those phones. And someone said it had framework depencies, so it's probably as hard to port as the Sense Launcher and widgets, but a bit harder, because you have to resize everything as well (I just guess it is not open source)...
i see this interface liter than sense UI... but not so lite as AOSP... I like to try it, it seems to be a more useful UI that Sense... Maybe the devs on the hero forum want to have a look

yes I guess its kinda like porting MIUI to the Hero. That hasnt been achieved so I dont have high hopes for this. But I thought I'd bring it to attention anyway just in case someone fancied a challenge
It is a fair challenge, framework is probably only compatible with armv7 processors and the different screen res issues would also need looked at, so not only would everything need resized, all the xml's would need to be edited correctly as well.
The libs will be different as well and I don't think it will be a simple job of just swapping over some of ours. It is basically as hard as porting MIUI, if not harder.
ok so i'll rephrase...
I thought I'd bring it to attention anyway just in case someone fancied a MEGA challenge
it's not about a challenge...but sometimes it's not worth it... It seems that salsa sense still has the bug with the speakerphone...and i think i know why...another problems is that it sometimes it kills SETCPU and damn i need that app...
I got 2 phones...a HTC hero and a Nokia E5...and was looking today @ engadget and see that a new WP7 smartphone is coming out and it look like my e5 on the edges...and i sometimes wonder...will we ever go back to buy a nokia smarthpone even if it runs WP7...?
A problem is that phones appear like mushrooms after the rain and i wonder why buy a phone when you can get for the same price a tablet that has a larger screen, it's powerful and much more...
I personally like the HTC SENSATION...but it costs more that a tablet
I know i'm off topic with 80% of the post but tell me you guys...is it worth the challenge of killing lots and lots of time of porting another ROM from another phone that a new generation?
beatifull launcher... porting this launcher is very hard work. supported only 1Ghz snapdragon devices.
Seems that yesterday some files was uploaded for our developers to give a try

Now this is a nice interface and user friendly
