Hil All ..
I need A method to display a subtitle on Videos im My DHD ..
And Is there Any Video Program can improve Quality of .mkv Videos in DHD .. ??
You can either hardcore the subs (writing them as part of the video) or use an alternate player. Rockplayer and MoboPlayer both support subtitles.

Can this phone playback AVI videos? Or just MP4? What software should I use to convert videos from AVI to MP4?
Thanks!
Yes it can, if you want to play a divx avi though, I suggest coreplayer, it works great with my touch pro 2 (although you have have to do some playing with orientation.)
There are lots of settings (easy to use settings) so you can get the most of your screen size.
I've tried many video players from the market. Some of them can't read XVID/DVIX/AVI formats , others can't run 720p in good FPS ( there`re LAGS )
So could anyone suggest me video player which supports these things:
- XVID/dvix/AVI formats , cause as we know DHD doesn't support them without usage of video player which supports them :S
- Good FPS ; NO lagging/freezing
- Good Quality ( 480p ; 720p )
- Be able to load Subtitles .
Thanks ..
You can try vplayer. For dvix 480p it's ok for me

Guys,i'm really hoping some1 knows this..
I'm trying to convert and play some vids on my phone that have subs in them...
How do i convert some vids (mkv and some are in mp4) ,so that the subs are still in them and playable on my Desire???
I've tried Xvid4Psp,BadaBoom,MediaCoder...nothing worked >_>
Moboplayer?

Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate works fine with ass subtitles.
Hi,
As you guys might know, playing 720p HD videos on the DHD is impossible. the video will be in Slow Mo!
Anyone has a fix or a workaround for that?
Thanks =)
p.s. i think is 1080 x 720 resolution for the video!
If you can play it with system player it should be possible because it uses hardware decoding (gpu renders the video). MoboPlayer or RockPlayer are 3rd party players with hardware decoding
If you use a player like vplayer that only supports software decoding (cpu renders the video) it's possible that it's laggy and out of sync.

resolution is 1280x720 and when I record them they play back perfecty in the stock player
actually rock player doesn't work. i download you tube videos via tubemate in 1080x720 format. it lags even on rock player
Rubbish! Desire HD extremely smooth playback HD stuff with stock player.
Stock player
.mp4 720p great
.avi 720p great
.wmv 480p great (i didin't try 720p)
.flv not at all ->SGS can great
.mkv not at all ->pity because SGS can great
RockPlayer ARMv7 depending on decoding mode
.mp4 720p great
.avi 720p good but big file has some lags
.wmv 480p great (i didin't try 720p)
.flv great but i've only checked 480p
.mkv poor fps, a lot of lags
It's pity that default player can't open .mkv files. A lot of HD movies has this extension... I don't know why HTC hasn't implemented this codec to the player when Samsung could. It's proof, it's possible.
If U want to download HD stuff from YouTube, try JDownloader ->it's great
DHD and even SGS won't playback full HD 1080p video clips. Probably it's software limitation.

I have heard WildfireS can play Xvid and Divx movies (.avi files)
Is this true ?
Yes it can but only software decoding mode (I watch them with moboplayer which install a codec pack for this).

Hello, I find moboplayer leggy and sound and video out of sync. Can you share your experience.
Is there a way to play video on this phone without problems?
Hi,
what are the properties of the file you are trying to play? what is the codec (divx, xvid, H264...) and the container/file format (avi, wmv, mkv, mp4....)? And also te resolution of the video file.
Real fact:
1. one StarTrek TNG episode (350MB file size); container: avi; resolution: 512x384, codec DIV3 (DivX 3) it plays very smooth with mobo player in hardware decode mode
2. one The Big Bang episode (175MB size); container avi; resolution: 624x352, codec Xvid does not play in hardware decode mode but if you long press on any file you can chose software decoding mode from the meniu and it plays very smooth
3. video in mp4 format (container) with resolution 480x270, codec avc1 (H264/MPEG4 AVC) play very smooth in hardware decoding mode with both moboplayer and system player.
You can find details about video files using a free software (Gspot). Just google for it. Btw is for PC this software.
Cheers
Hello,
So facts:
MPEG4 files are correctly handled by system video player.
I tried moboplayer with 340MB video file in avi container, xvid codec, 720x576.
System player will not start this file, and moboplayer playes it but in slowmotion (video and audio continuously more and more out of sync).
I did not know of this long press mode for software decoding and will try it later.
Thanks.

I have MoboPlayer Codec for ARM V6VFP installed (moboplayer installed it by itself at first run)

If still out of sync maybe is the limitations of our wildfire s cpu. I'll try to find some video close to your specs and try. I'll let you know
My personal favourite is Rockplayer, it plays all the files I've tried. Have you tried using a video recoder on your pc to scale down the frame rates and resolution?
This greatly reduces
a) the lag
b) the space require to store them
c) the drain on the battery whilst playing them
Yes, I'm using a video converter on PC (my favorite is splash pro ex) to reduce resolution and bit rate (not frame rate); our cpu can't handle resolution too high (720x*) and high data stream. But let's be serious... the display is too small to watch a movie; maybe the only situation when I consider watching a movie is traveling by train or plane. On the other hand, is gut to know we can play videos
