I am on the 2.3.4 everolv gb rom with the stock kernel, and every time I under clock it using setcpu, and hit set at boot, it keeps going back to the max speed. Why does it keep going back up to the highest clock speed?
the phone uses resources only when needed. it will go back down to the min when the phone is not doing anything..

Hello everyone,
I just rooted my MT3GS last weekend its been running very smoothly with TeamFenix 1.7. However I have a quick question when it comes to setCPU.
Now I am not running the OC kernal right now I'm still taking advantage of the stock clock of 600MHz.
I remember that it was asking for a .txt file for configuration but does anyone have this file can point me exactly what to do. Right now I have it set onto "on demand" and enabling profiles.
EX
100-50% battery 600MHz MAX 600MHz MIN.
49-40% battery 480MHz MAX 245MHz MIN.
39-0% battery 480MHz MAX 122MHz MIN.
I want this thing to be fast as can be for a majority of the time. Any help would be nice.
its best to set it to auto detect and put it on max and just setup a profile for "screen off" and have it set to lowest without crashing
Set screen off to 245/245 this will help with battery life. I'm using the 768 oc kernal and the only profile I use is screen off.

ok so im running the STOCK GB but im rooted and have been running gingertiny 9/29 ran into rebooting issues.. phone constently reboots after 20 mins of use. usually when this happened before like on stock kernels the battery temp would rise up to 104 but i kept eyes on the temp and it never goes over 78.4 F
not overclocking cpu im actually running at about 625 mhz but issue still occurs
SO with that being said i need help finding either a better kernal or trying to find solutions with this one.
i went back to complete stock and rooted to see if i still have this issue
any help will do thanks!
These questions belong in the Q/A section. This has zero relevance to development.
Now:
1) pull the battery then place it back into your phone.
2) Charge it awhile to make sure you haven't dropped a considerable charge during the bootloops.
3) Turn your phone on and move your clock speed towards 998400 (stock clock speed) via setcpu or however you underclocked.
This bootloop is likely due to you being underclocked so low. If you want, flash Tiny's latest kernel from 9/29/2011 to bring yourself up to date.
Was your min clock speed underclocked below the stock 245000? I had random reboot issues when I underclocked my min to 128000.
Having your max_freq set at 628 or whatever it was shouldn't cause reboot issues. You're phone should be rock-solid stable at a speed like that. I'd suggest taking a look at your voltages.
I've never run that kernel so I'm not familiar with what the voltage table looks like, but it might very well be that your voltage is too low. If your max_freq were higher, the transition through that clock freq would probably be too brief to cause an issue. I don't know if that kernel has sysfs enabled, but if it does, upping the voltage at that step .25 volts should cure it.
Min speed was at 628 even switching back to stock kernel still having issues I'm not sure what can be the issue I only last few mins playing any games or watching anything all speeds are stock

Sounds like it's time to start wiping stuff.
I have looked around and completed a few searches but cannot find any direct answers to this.
I have CPU Spy installed and have been checking it off and on since I got the phone. I have noticed that my phone does not run at any speed other than the absolute max. The phone does go into Deep Sleep without issue, but the only CPU speed it uses is 1728. I have tried a few ROMS without any change.
Currently running Juggernaut 5.0 with Darky's Kernal.
I have tried different Governers. I have tried Antutu's CPU Master, SetCPU and No-Frills. I just cannot get this phone to run anything other than MAX speed. Since I am constantly having things run in the background like music, this is effecting my battery life.
Anyone have any input, ideas or suggestions? Other than running stock.
Turn down your minimum CPU settings in set CPU and check set on boot?

You've done just about everything possible. Only option left it to Odin back to stock, root it and check cpu Spy to see if it is acting normal. If it is back to normal flash back to your favorite distro!
Perhaps something got messed up along the way of flashing all those roms? Shouldn't, but you never know.

I was really hoping it would not come to this :'(
*update....
I re-flashed Darky's Kernal and removed all OC apps and now I am showing full utilization of the different seed steps.
Quite glad it did not result in me having to start over again.
My CPU Speed automatically goes down to 810Mhz on all overclocked kernels.
Even in CM10 kernels,
It happens in between while I play a game or so.
Even if I install Kernel with only GPU overclock, it still happens.
But never happens on stock kernels. I have to manually increase the CPU speed by setCPU.
Any Solutions for it Guys?

Try to use Kernel tuner, and normally the device uses 810 mhz too cool down...

Used kernel tuner but still the same result, it goes to 810mhz even if the phone is not hot (just homescreen) and when i increase it, it remains at max even if i play games and make it hot. but after some time (say 15 or 20 minutes) even if I am in standby mode the cpu goes down to 810Mhz. previously at some point it was 1134Mhz.
Guys, anyone with some help. It has even started to occur in Complete stock ROM. (flashed the ftf on locked bootloader, still the max cpu spped drops from 1.5 Ghz to 810 Mhz, some times both cores)

I had the same problem but i discoverd that the Battery saver pro causes that problem for me. If you use the seme app untick control CPU frequency.
It is actually a built in security feature of our phones which gets activated when temperature of phone goes high . At least that's what I know .

Here's solution!!!

Send from my stupid lt26i
As the title says, I have this problem where the big cluster frequency stays at 2361MHz and doesn't drop down to its idle frequency. It occasionally goes down to about 2000MHz, but rises back to its max frequency within a second.
I tried clean flashing OOS 5.0.3 (zip from OP website), I'm not rooted, no custom kernel (all stock basically). It seems to happen after a few hours and not as soon as the device is turned on.
I'm wondering if it's a kernel problem/bug or something else (play services for example). I'd really like to know if anyone else experienced it and if anyone got it fixed.
are you using a custom kernel or root?
if so download elementalx or any kernel editing tool and change the cluster back to 300mhz
i find i have to do this for the cluster to scale back down
You can try New Kernel by @jgcaap.
It's probably the best kernel for this phone with amazing performance/smoothness/battery.
In the latest build the idle freqs are back to normal after OnePlus mess/faulty optimisation in OB2.

If your CPU doesn't idle it can also be an app running in background and hogging cpu time.
