Livewallpaper Not Many Working. - Defy General

Why does it seem that the Defy can't run many live wallpapers? I used to use the Galaxy S ones but they force close on Defy. Working on Desire and ZTE Blade though.
You may say its a resolution problem but do we not have same res as xperia arc? Arc live wallpapers worked on zte blade but just load forever on defy.
Any ideas?

Nobody?

I tried only a few live wallpapers but no force close in my case with stock rom. One does force close in CM7 port though.
Maybe you can name a few which have problem so others can try and see.

may be your version is 2.51 update to 2.59 from official site.. i downloaded many live wallpapers all were working..

HTC Desire T-mobile Black with Live wallpapers and sense - any dumps ? port ?

Hi Guys apologies if people know about this found this elsewhere but below is a link to a video of HTC desire (black T-mobile) running sense and live wallpapers i know that in terms of specs its far superior to the hero, but has anyone got thier hands on a leak of this rom ? is there one available ? and what would be the chances of porting this to hero with live wallpapers or using the base perhaps to build an AOSP 2.1 rom for hero with live wallpapers ?
hxxp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lj-mUxxJIEM&feature=player_embedded
EDIT:Ok so yes there is an alph 7 release that has been ported to nexus one over at modaco and the guys there have a release candidate rom over there that there also working on porting so could we get this on our Hero's ?
The desire has a different resolution so it's probably not worth the hassle to port it over.
The Desire ROM isn't really portable to a Hero or Legend. Just use the Legend ROM for that.
The hardware platform is different, the resolution and all the graphics in Sense are (probably) different.
You can use any of the AOSP 2.1 ROMS (like Kagudroid 1.2 or 1.3) and try Live Wallpapers on there. What is working works, what doesn't is because of hardware restraints.
CKDroid (or something) managed to get some more working by playing with the OpenGL drivers, but anything more than that is simply impossible on the hero hardware.

Livewallpaper rom ?

Hello,
I want a rom like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUJqohm4QDU
or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtdW6qwX7Mk
or
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnLcw2RMsAk
with what rom I can have 3D effects like on youtube?
Thank you
Most non HTC sense 2.1 roms have live wallpapers however please note these are a terrible drain on the hero's resources, mess up other 3d things like 3d gallery and games and also they don't all work.
They simply are not designed for this phone, and may never be.

no luck ...
there are a couple of roms that have live wallpapers the one in the video is an eclair rom from CKDroid which is currently at 1.6b and dev work has stopped on it (not sure why) theres also aHero still been worked on but i have tried every rom with live wallpapers and none of them work the 2 i mentioned in particular i have had the earth rotation wallppaer for example which will work initially but when you lock/unlock it defaults back to the stock wallpaper ?
iam also looking for a rom with live wallpapers but to be honnest i dont think this will happen untill the official 2.1 update is released as devs can cook an AOSP 2.1 rom from this hopefully with working live wallpapers most likley a port from the upcoming open eclair 2.0 for G1/magic which is due to be released shortly which supposedley has fully working 3d acceleration 3d gallery and fully functioning live wallpapers and the ability to change settings on them also !
so i think you will have to wait but if you find a rom that works for ya let me know as i particularly would like live wallpapers on my hero and i dont see any reason why we shouldnt be able to have them ?
This phone can't handle open gl 2.0 unless I am mistaken

[Q] Xperia ROM, anyone?

Hi all,
On Oxygen 2.1.2, I tried to make my Desire into an Xperia Arc, by pushing the files, framework etc. to the respective places. I have got Arc Launcher and Timescape widgets to work on it. Nonetheless, the Timescape apps seems to be a bit buggy (not refreshing on its own and sluggish) and updating my FB status with it shows "via SEMC App Development 2" instead of "via Sony Xperia".
Well, I know not everyone is a fan of Sony. Nonetheless, I really hope if someone with good knowledge on Android can work on a workable flashable zips that can have all the Arc stuff over an AOSP ROM, be it Oxygen or CM7.
Here's the resources for Arc.

Thanks a lot in advance!

[Q] MIUI ROM Port

Hi Devs,
Can Anyone work on porting MIUI rom In wildfire as I saw one of my friends using MIUI rom in his Defy and m very much excited to use it in wildfire.
i want it to but its not possible due to hardware limitations on the wildfire ;[
Not going to happen for several reasons. Its closed source, and, it needs pretty powerful hardware (Which is why even no MDPI Phone has it yet)
humm. i agree with 3xeno. the only possible way i think is to make an miui theme for theme chooser.containig almost all the graphics of miui. but it will also be a hard task, obtaining miui original icons, resizing, theam building etc.

I've been hoping for this for ages, it'd be great but the phone wont run it

Ya i agree with all but i have seen that in galaxy 3 the MIUI rom was ported sucessfully which is also an LDPI and ARM v6 phone.
Is that a full fledged proper MIUI Port? I somehow doubt it. Anyway, you can see the level of activity at the Wildfire Forums yourself to know that even if porting of MIUI was possible, there would be few who would actually do it.
Besides, Galaxy 3 has a GPU, unlike the Wildfire. (Although I must admit I am surprised to see it working on a non HDPI device, I'll have to dig a bit more on it)
I hv seen it thats y i m saying dat . obviously it is not so easy but if devs can give it a try.
Or else one can develop a MIUI theme for theme chooser.
MIUI Themes for Theme Chooser are available. You can refer them here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189723
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102755
Dont forget though, they are 'just' themes.
What 3xeno said.
You could also try the translated tenscent launcher in the android themes section for the full miui feel, or qq launcher which has an app drawer.
But I don't like them cause they don't have many features and are useless lol, not to mention the laaaag, which is why I'm sticking with real miui for now.

they dont support LDPI, do they?
Explicitly, No. But they work just like all the other Non-LDPI ones do.

u guessed it right, its not a full port. That guy who's a friend of mine (an IITian) has ported the launcher and 9 lockscreen mode only and that too from SGS. Its called MIUIwiz. He edited the following files (framework.jar, services.jar, android.policy.jar, framework-res.apk and twframework-res.apk).
If anybody [maybe kevin, man i loved ur gingerblur theme on cm7 ] from ur forum is interested to port the launcher only (which itself is awsum), i can ask akash to give u the source code. but i doubt it will look gud on 125 pixel density.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133407
@3xeno: galaxy3 has FIMG gpu which is samsung's own gpu and they refused us to give the source of FIMG gpu source saying that its their own property. But it has a better pixel density than wildfire.
And Shiv seen the MIUI rom on my defy which is HDPI.

I tried the Jboogie LiquidArc rom and i can assure its very stable , fast , smooth , and most important to me = very easy steps to install : http://modmymobile.com/forums/640-m...e3-liquidarc-gingerbread-v2-0-09-08-11-a.html
and i think if you have a red lens defy then u should try MS2Ginger 2.1 u will have 720p video record : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839
Hope I helped
CM7. Period x)
Sent from my 1Ghz CM7 + CM9 Defy
I use MS2Ginger 2.0 (Defy with red lens), works great for me, especially if you want 720p recording/playback.
MS2Ginger if you like blur , or CM7 smooth and fast without any Force close problems i almost tried every rom out there 2.2.2 froyo is also fast and works fine .
PS: dont ever flash 2.3.4
i used to have cm7 until recently. cm7 is getting boring and miui has caught up with cm7 as far as bug fixes are concerned, but it's much more eye pleasing
try wajkiui, without the ics add-on first, and see if you like it.

cm7 boring? boring as rock-stable?
I would try again if wifi is fixed and battery drain...
jboogie is based off cm7 by quarax. pretty decent.
barebones is the ultimate cm mod with the "bare essentials"
cm7 is fast, and as far as customising it there are LOADS of themes, personally i like the way this one looks
miui is nice, recently it has got much more smoother and there are many variants. wajk,d something :S and so on
(personally i like the galnet miui but waiting for the next update before jumping up and down and trying to convert people.)
ms2 ginger and moto ginger are based off the stock gb from moto and there are soo many nandroids of the same(stock gb from moto for the defy plus)in the dev thread. only plus point of ms2ginger over the rest is the 720p recording and its awesome (but only to view on the phone, on the computer its a totally different story)
cm9 is still kicking in the alpha stage but at the moment looks the most promising.
at the end of it, which ever rom you like should be the one you pick. oh and be careful, trying not wrecking your phone! lol
no one here can be held responsible if anything happens to your phone but if there is an issue, there are many awesome people who are waiting to help!!
any way happy modding!
well said... but the stock froyo of India 3.4.3-36-1.7 is the most stable for me...
MS2GINGER for me ... 720p recording and playback and most importantly the battery backup ... this is the rom with the best battery life for me :]

lol....i might have to eat my own words actually
after testing a few variances of miui based roms, ie, wajkiui, dsj ics miui and galnet miui, i still went back to cm7 because those roms are still not as stable and smooth as cm7.
then i found that many of those eye candies i found on miui based roms are there in cm7 anyway. i just wasn't into tweaking my phone before until i got into miui roms.
anyway i'm currently testing ms2ginger 2.1 for green lens and mtotoginger 2 i found the best thing about these roms are the battery life. most roms i tested so far consume about 0.4-0.6 % per hr when the phone is in deep sleep. the motoginger 2 rom (preferred over the ms2ginger) uses about 0.3% per hr when deep sleep and on maximum battery saver mode!
I really have to agree with CM7. I've been running it for weeks, without any random reboots and lots of usage.
It is just the safest bet out there.
Also consider try WajkIUI ICS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161110
I bet you will like its smooth faster than ever and the thing is stability
Im my point of view Wajk is one of the best devs 4 defy
I've used Cm7 for about 3 months, and I have to say, it's really stable. But I couldn't figure out why the built-in ADW Launcher was so laggy, but the ADW from market wasn't. But in fact, I didn't really cared about ADW, because I've used LP. There's no other Launcher on Earth which is that smooth, stable and far away from annoying gimmicks like those freaky transition effects from Go Launcher. After 3 months cm7 got very boring for me. So I decided to test some of the other ROM's postet here. Ms2Ginger was kind of overloaded and I don't like the color of the settings menue. Wajkiui was a variety of a MIUI Rom but without the MIUI Launcher. The last one I tried, was the MIUI Pikachu Edition. And It feels like much smoother then other MIUI Rom's, more stable and settings to play around So, I use MIUI Pikachu for about 2 months and I don't think I'll change the ROM until there's a final Version of CM9-Jordan.

arr.. yes, the pikachu edition. i've heard of it but it's in german which i don't speak
Yea, its a german Rom, but it suports english, too. Im just comparing it with stock MIUI and Galnet-MIUI. I cant see any great differences except of the theme and Bootanimations
The main difference of the Pikachu edit. is the app called "Flag-configer". With this app, you can change installation parameters and app contents BEFORE you flash the ROM. MIUI Pikachu is the only ROM which is supported by the Flag-configer, actually I'm not sure if it's the only supported ROM. For now, the GALNET and WAJIKU can't be configured by this app.

edit: is there a site in english? how am i going to install it if everything is in german until i get a chance to change the language?
i tried cm7 and currently on Wiui... have to say they r fast n solid! but as i am always outside w/o wifi... thus my data always on... the battery eats 15%/hr even when i am doing nothing with it n always in my pocket!!!
therefore i can say i really enjoy my defy when i m at home(wif wifi)... but once outside... i have to ration its use in case battery is flat when i have urgent call to make!!!
any rom out there to fix this problem?
