Sounds like you might just have to odin EC05 stock.
There is a thread for that in the development area :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027904
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=32dOsaIrdEc
This might help.
You can also try flashing the stock recovery found here:

Did you get this to work? If u need more help just ask.

Ok so I used 1 click root when I had di18 now I'm on ec05 and can't use the unroot because the 1 click unroot for cwm2 has the di18 kernel and modem can I run 1 click root with cwm3 and then use the 1 click root under cwm3 to unroot or will trying to run the cwm3 root exploit while I have the cwm2 root already screw up my phone?

Go back to the thread you made YESTERDAY and continue this question you've already asked there.
Hey guys hope someone can help me out here. I have been flashing different roms to try them out and am currently running cm7. I have always kept a nandroid backup of my stock sense rom in case anything went wrong or if I had to take the phone back to sprint. However I have somehow managed to erase my back up and want to know where to go to download a stock evo rom. Apologies if this is a stupid question but I'm still in the process of learning.

if you mean stock as in right out of the box from sprint then check out this:

Thx for that, what about a method where I wont loose root access? Is that possible?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
idk. i used that and then rooted again to start over. it says it wipes ur sd card but it doesn't wipe like wallpapers n zips u put on it.
Check out the sprint lovers rom in the dev section. Im mobile so I can't link it.

Right on for this hint. Do you know if I will be able to receive ota updates from sprint with this rom, like when gingerbread is updated to evo.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You will not get OTA updates, but can reasonably expect rooted 2.3 Sense ROMs here on XDA within a couple hours of the official release. If you do get an OTA update notification in Sprint Lovers it will get rid off root if you upgrade. The phone will still be S-off so it should be easy to go back.
This is as close to stock as you can get while maintaining root privileges. This is a rooted stock rom that has NOT been deodexed.

I'm attempting to root my phone and I run EL30, Where can I either get 2.2 or a different firmware downgrade for my epic 4g (non touch to clarify) so I can actually root it and get on with putting CWM and then CM7 on it.

Rofl gingerbreak doesn't work bud you need to odin in the gb3.tar kernel and then odin in the recovery its not difficult its easier then going back to stock.

uhh, and where do I get that?. I have odin. but the gb3.tar kernel.
Additionally my USB debugging isnt working. I have installed driver packs but. still not working
1. Odin in the gb3.tar kernel.
2. Odin in your choice of recovery cwm5.0.2.7 is a wise choice.
3. Enjoy your rooted EL30.

I know it's possible to root *some* phones without a computer. Does anyone know if it's possible with the Hercules?
No! You need a computer
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Wow...... well I guess that answers that one.
lol
Thanks
I think you can not root without a computer (because of all the ODIN stuff), but I guess ROMs can be installed using ROM manager. But using clockworkmod recovery seems easier.
You can't root without PC. Odin is the only way, my adhd girl can do this!

trolling?? or... just plain... nevermind
Rooting without a computer is the DUMBEST idea in the entire world. IF you screw up your phone, like most n00bs these days do, you will have NO WAY to recover your device without sending it in... not to mention no way to read XDA to discover what went wrong.

Rooting is not the part you need a computer for..
You need a computer in order to install cwm so you can flash the superuser zip

No need to install CWM from PC.
For this method you have to download 2 files (CWM.zip & SU-Busybox-Installer.zip) to you phone and you are ready to go.
Check method 1 on this thread -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1746794

This is to give root access, but to gain the abilty to flash SU to gain root access, you need ODIN and a PC. On the T989, it the only way to flash CWM. To summarize, SU is the saddle, but whats really important is the horse, CWM

Yeah thats right, even you can get a horse without PC. There is app called mobile odin which makes this possible. You can flash firmware with cwm using that, mobile odin requires rooted phone, which we did using prev posts.
I have su access with cwm installed on my phone without imcrease in flash counter and yellow exclaimation at boot.
I am planning to install good rom on this. Once I do it successfully I will try to put small tut on it.

Isn't half the point of the ROM Manager app to install a custom recovery? If you have root access, you can flash CWM through it. It's literally the first action listed when you open it.

Have some quick questions.
I rooted my phone using this method:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LlVCjtRUrgs&feature=youtube_gdata_player
After I root, I try to open Supersu but it says the binarys cannot be installed and it closes, also the "root access allow" prompt does not appear on any root applications.
They just get stuck at "searching for root rights."
Is there a preferred root method to use on this S4?
Which one works best?
Well anyway, I flashed wicked rom (because the phone IS rooted) and whenever I try to flash anything or merely even just a reboot, my phone soft bricks and I have to boot TWRP, wipe and install the rom again.
I only have this problem AFTER I have installed a custom rom.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

This is one of the reasons I went back to stock after trying out cm10.1 and 4.3 leak. I am kinda liking the features TW adds to Android. Just disable the apps you don't use or root stock and use TB to uninstall what you don't need.

okay 1 of all go to Stock rom flash that
Also try CF-Root it worked for me maybe will help u too
then recovery change to clockworkmod recovery TW is having problems list for me.

Thank you sir for the reply.
I indeed found the problem.
It was the root method I was using.
I did the CF-AUTOROOT method and it canceled out all previous problems.

Thanks for the late reply.
I used the cable that came with the phone.
I've also used other cables for various other Odin flashes and all works as it should.
Pretty sure that's not a factor, and far from a problem.
