[Q] How much memory is accessible? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've just purchased a used Verizon HTC Driod Incredible & started noticing something unusual about its memory capacity.
It was preloaded with Redemptive rEvolution 2.2 ROM & no matter what I did, I could not see nor access the Internal Phone Storage.
And the available Phone Memory is only 149Mb.
Is this normal? Please take a look at the screenshot I made using screencast.
I'm not convinced it is as the specs and what I see do not match.
From the Wiki:Memory:Flash 8GB + 1GB(748mb free)/RAM 512MBI've since reverted to the stock Android 2.2 ROM & it is still behaving the same way.
Does anyone know how I can restore access to the Internal Phone Storage?
Removing the 4Gb microSD card & restarting the phone does nothing to restore access to the Internal Phone Storage.
Please advise me.
Thanks!
Konker

That's weird that it isn't showing it, does it come up on your computer if you plug it in?

I would try a different Rom maybe? I show the correct amount on mine (running a stockish Rom-peanut).

I agree that it's weird...all I see when I connect it to my computer are two removable drives & one CD drive that was added.
All are empty & without any storage capacity.
This was with the SD card already ejected.

EMMC support?

I'm currently running the stock Verizon 3.26.605.1 ROM on it so I'm not sure which other stock ROM to load up.
Someone in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12810529&postcount=2 alluded to the fact that some ROM do not support emmc.
Any idea whether the stock roms support emmc?
It would be very strange if the stock roms do not or else they would never show the 8Gb internal storage in a stock phone.
How much internal phone storage & phone memory does your phone display?

[Q] CM7 Build which allows phone to connect to PC?

The build of CM7 I'm using is in my signature. It will not allow me to read the SD through the phone when connected to my PC. It isn't really a problem since I can use Dropbox to transfer files or just take the SD card out entirely, but I was wondering if there is a stable version which doesn't have this issue?

lol, yeah, almost any cm7 since the one youre using, man. Youre a tad bit behind.
It was just the most stable release at the time, so that's what I've stuck with. Any particular version more stable than another? Anything else I need to update other than juts reflashing the ROM? Thanks for the help!
Use 7.0.3. Works like a charm.
Will do. That's the one I just installed, so now I'm just putting back in all my widgets and installing all my apps from my AppMonster backup. So far so good!
this should be in Q&A, just saying...

PM31IMG anyone have a good one?

Downloaded from dougpiston twice and I think link is bad. Got a corrupt file both times
Thanks

You didn't say what file you needed. Btw, your sig is a Droid X2 so are you in the proper forum?
PB31IMG file. Its the stock image for incredible. Yeah I'm on x² now but going back to my incredible

That's pretty much the go-to resource. If you're getting a corrupt download, its likely something on your end. Tons of people have used those files successfully so its doubtful that they're bad.

I've used it before too. Only thing else I can think is try to reformat sd. But it shows as corrupt on computer too

How are you checking, comparing md5 sums? Maybe someone has a copy of the stock 2.2 image, I'd UL it for you if I had a known working copy but I've (thankfully) never had a need for it.
SD card it was. Never formatted FAT32, I assumed since it was the stock 2gb SD, never used, that it would already be in FAT32. I even know what assuming does
That'll do it

That will get you every time. I'm glad you got it sorted out.

Problem with the Internal Memory failing. Any Ideas?

A friend of mine had some problems and asked if I could look into it for him. I've never owned an Incredible so I don't really know much about it. I figured I'd post here and see if you guys can help.
Here's what he sent me:
"So I've got an Incredible and recently its been prompting me to do updates when I'm pretty sure my phone is up to date. So I click update and it says its going to reboot and then never does. So this morning I wake up and its like internal SD card cannot be read or something to that extent. But what's weird is that all my music still works but all my custom ringtones are broke. It's like the 8GB SD card is working, but the internal memory is failing. What do? "
Any ideas?

I assume its rooted, thats why the update wont go thru. As for the memory, does a reboot fix it?
Does this user also understand the concept of safely ejecting his phone before removing it from the computer (most importantly after moving, editing, or pasting files)?
Chances are, his sd card and internal memory could use a good 'disc checking' from a windows computer.. Lol

My cousin called me yesterday complaining of the same thing. He stated that he has been recieving OTA updates for the phone on a daily basis lately and since the first update has been getting an internal memory low popup on his Incredible.
His phone is NOT rooted and completely stock with the original SD card. Would like help from anyone else having this issue and knows what the deal is with the multiple OTA's coming in and killing memory.
Okay, here is what needs to happen if you are to get rid of that error..
Go to cyanogenmod and follow the wiki to root and ROM your phone...
Or, do the update...
Now, i would strongly recommend the first choice, as oppose to the second..
The stock software is disgusting.
Rooted cm7 will not only run a lot better for you, but you will be more up to date than the ota update.
You're phone most likely is running out of internal memory, because it is downloading the update and storing it in preparation.
Just do a google search for cyanogenmod, go to their site, click your device, then click the related wiki page..
Follow the instructions and check back here on xda if you have any questions.
Good luck

For the update to succeed, the phone has to be plugged into the wall charger.

Note 3 booting issues

everytime I poweroff my phone it takes about a good 10 min to finally turn on , itll keep going from lockscreen to Tmobile 4g lte screen, is there something Im doing wrong
Not sure what kind of response you are expecting.
You have provided no info about your device, what status it is in, if you rooted, changed roms, did some modification etc...
How can anyone comment on your issue without any info other than to say that is not normal behavior.
Sorry, well it's a Tmobile Note 3, rooted and no roms, I have some apps transfered to my SD card, and that's about it really

So... did you try moving the apps back and see if that fixed the problem? There could be issues with that plus the phone does have a lot of internal storage.

10 minutes? How many apps do you have installed? I use Go Task Manager and remove as many boot apps from start-up as possible. Speeds things up.
Try removing your sd card. If that fixes it I recommend backing up the card, reformat it on the phone then restore your data

This worked, I moved all my things to the device and reformatted the SD card and now it doesn't take long to boot at all. Thanks!

Memory card

Has anyone ever soft or hard bricked your phone.(LG G3) Then realize your memory card isn't recognized by your phone..even after trying a different card.
Update: flashed Paranoid android 6.0.1 and my external card was recognized. Don't ask me how or why..but it works. Just glad it wasn't a hardware issue.

Yes - This is currently the only issue I am having with my newly acquired LS990.
I have had to go through various custom ROMS before settling with FULMICS stable, awesome ROM.
In the FULMICS TWEAKS app there is even an option under 'advanced' to 'fix internal/external sd card' but still my phone does not read the external sd.
I have tried slow reformatting the card in a pc with various different formats and even tried another card - still no luck here.
I am wondering if it could be something to do with the internal partitions or folder structures of the phone...?
I acquired this phone 'newly boxed' and soon found out that it must have 'fallen off a truck' somewhere as it had a patched official ROM to make it work globally, and then it bricked shortly after that.
I've spent hours on xda tweaking my phone and finally getting it to work quite well.
If anyone has any info on this SD CARD issue, please do tell!
Cheers and thanks xda!
