Reflex vs insertcoin vam rcmix - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone tried all three?
Any thoughts to share?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Well, tried all three, I think Insertcoin is the fastest but Reflex looks nicest

i am using reflex atm... haven't tried insercoin or rcmix so can't comment but reflex is pretty stable, no major issues so far apart from outgoing call, cannot hear the other person... but the fix is to set network to gsm only

I've tried insertcoin and rcmix (still on it) as well, and the 2nd one "seems" a little faster for me.

rcmix is a little more faster than insertcoin IMHO!!
if you don't care about sense try oxygen

Sense is something I need because of the widgets HTC provides with it. I tried CM7 with some substitute widgets, but they are not that good as Sense...
Aside from that I have huge problems with CM in calls.
The only thing I hate about Sense is that you cannot customize it, or use its native widgets on custom launchers. Everything else is perfect.

htc sense is better than any other launchers imo... there's no real equivalent for its widgets!

i think it depends on the widgets you use. i'm very happy with the agenda/facebook widgets launcher pro plus provides. for the contact widget i use desktop visualizer.
someone said reflex looks nicer. how come? i thought all these roms have sense 2.1 with parts from 3.0

I'm using InsertCoin CM7 v20, totally recommend this one. I haven't used the others, but I am so satisfied with this one I don't really need to

i am using reflex
insertcoin and rcmix also used
reflex and rcmix a problem with Chinese Input Method
But will insertcoin the HTC_IME.apk applied reflex or rcmix Rom can be resolved

Reflection and RCMix, the default CPU adjustment range is different, adjust the strategy is different
RCMix, without overclocking, the adjustment range is relatively small, but it feels more smooth

[Q] Pros and Cons? Non-sense vs. sense roms

Hi all!
Basically....iv used mainly sense roms...tried a few and im with leedroid at the moment...seems very stable and quick and i like the htc goodies....mainly the htc phone, messaging, music and gallery.
Iv also tried CyanogenMod but i didnt get on with it without the sense goodies.
Is there good alternatives for the htc stuff? or did i not give non-sense android a chance? I'm thinking of doing a full wipe and going to opendesire.
What are the advantages in your opinions between sense and non-sense roms???
Advice much appreciated!

Guess you got your Desire because of Sense, or you could buy a N1
I like HTC stuff, though a UI revamp is likely planned for Gingerbread, so you still shouldn't drop stock Android off yet.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
For me the biggest disadvantage to non-sense roms is the lack of a decent T9 dialler (where you press the number buttons to substitute for letters and it filters your contacts). There is the Dialler One app available but it's nowhere near as good as the Sense one.
If the Sense dialler could be put into a vanilla rom then I would probably be happy.
Using Defrost at the moment.

Though CM6 with Fancy Widget- OnOff widgets and ³ player worked fine for me. I still missed the dialer, though. If you only want some stock-ish feeling, go install ADW.Launcher

With LeeDrOid sense rom i never used the htc clock and used switchwidget pro with launcher pro...so homescreen wise im not bothered by....its just the dialer, gallery and music mainly.
Also any facebook contact sync apps that are good for contact pictures?

Facebook contact sync is built in to FroYo... I think, if it isn't then it is when you download the Facebook official app.
I havnt tried the facebook app since some updates, but before it didnt work too well
Sense rom = More widgets(htc widgets) , pinchout to select home screens , good dialer.
Non sense rom = More free ram , no htc widgets , no htc sync.
But both of them good with Desire, because Desire is superb

Both are good with battery life. But for my option non sense is a little better.
Like Mshaw03 HTC dialer and selecting text Copy-past on browser. It's really great on sense. But I prefer the froyo lockscreen, the gray status bar other way I prefer the froyo look and feel.
I'm on OpenDesire 4.0.4
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Graphics performance is better with non-Sense ROMs because of newer kernel...
just..try it) play Asphalt 5 on Sense ROM then on Non-Sense ROM like OpenDesire...
WITHOUT OC and smth
I love sense too much for it's keyboard, clock and alarm
And HTC sync
Sense roms have better UI, useful apps, widgets and implements but they work slower (according to Quadrant scores)
Non-sense roms work faster(again, according to Quadrant scores), have a little extended battery life. But they have some important lacks. Gallery 3D works slow imo and there is no alternative. They have very basic UI(Google have to do something about that). There is no copy/paste like HTC's. bla bla..
I love both of them but non-sen roms need some time imo.
I just tried opendesire then defrost....defrost has the cm options which i prefer over opendesire. And it feels so much quicker than sense roms.
Does anyone know if n1 cm themes would work with cm rom for desire...hense then work for defrost since it is cm basically???
I use t-mod, an Australian variant of Leedroid. I really dig it, buy I would get rid of Sense in an instant as it does little but slow down Froyo. The only advantages for me are the Data on/off widget, and the fact that it doesn't have the oj and headphone jack death bug. I love the horizontal caller id slider - the Sense up/down one kept answering or declining in my pocket until I got widget locker, which is a great workaround but you have to slide open widget locket before you get to the caller id screen. As soon as the oj death issue is fixed I will change over, no typing app is accurate enough to do without it imho, and none even have forward delete to make it even slightly tolerable.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Oh, to elaborate, I tried Opendesire, but as I understand it, all non- sense roms have the oj death bug.

What is the best Gingerbread 2.3 ROM with Sense 3.0

Hi, as above I would like to find out which is the best 2.3 Gingerbread ROM with Sense 3.0.
I have updated like probably most to the 2.3 Gingerbread OTA update but Sense 3.0 is missing and probably won't come from HTC seeing as they have stated 3.0 needs the hardware which the DHD isn't in their opinion. But as we know that's bull crap as the DHD can run Sense 3.0.
Just would like to get opinions from frequent ROM users and possibly devs as what's the best one to be looking at as I'm completely new to custom ROM's.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
go with i00's true sense 3.0
very smooth sense 3.0 expierience
Can't believe senior members asks questions like this that may discriminate among the devs..(I have seen moderators discouraging members who asks the same sort of questions!!)
Any way there are only two sense 3.0 roms over xda... i00 and RCmix.... Shoot them one by one and you may find the best one for you.
well if you insist then... After using RCmix for a while, I flashed an i00, and is working as my daily driver.... no operational bugs so far...
Im stuck at the crossroad too.
What is the difference between i00 5.3 and rcmix Kingdom 0.2?

Tried both.. i00 boots up much faster runs smoother updates weather but doesnt recognize chinese korean japanese chracters..
kingdom boots a bit slower, meaning sticky on the scrolling in program but smoother on the sense
Hi thanks all, I appreciate the input as I'm new to ROM's I may have been here a while but have just stuck with stock.
Can anyone confirm do both the Kingdom and i00 ROM's have root access already? They both look excellent so I wasn't sure. I'm now looking at ROM's as the 2.3 update all us stock users had really is missing Sense 3.0 so these ROM's actually are better by the looks than what HTC themselves give us

Leedroid GB with latest kernel is extremely fast GB rom, and apply kingdom lockscreen for the extra 3.0 sense elements!
well i want to take part of this thread...

really for me... lee bailey´s roms are totally awesome
EDIT:i used kingdom´s sense 3.0 (weather, mms, etc...)
lockscreen goes by default with kalagas theme

Can either the Kingdom or i00 rom be used for daily use yet?
Just I noticed some functionality like srs isn't working from the bug list. Just wondering which is the closest to perfection?
I have tried both, and the latest Kingdom release beats i00 hands down.
Kingdom's 'Android' widget ratios are just about spot on, so none-Sense widgets display correctly. This is a major issue on i00's, and the deal winner for me.
Very stable (no random reboots or f/c's), good battery life and fine for every day use. The autoinstall is an absolute must.
I tried Kingdom - gallery widget is out of line to the left, Twitter widget not working, other widgets far to small as its for a larger screen, video camera and sound is awful and not sure how that latter part can have optimization for DHD as certainly can't record 1080p on a DHD as it already struggles with 720p in stock.

i thought there were several sence 3 roms
I've tried i00, but switched back to MDJ's ViVO sense which is lightning fast and has almost all Sense 3.0 features.

Sense ROMs

I never really been that much into sense but I do like the widgets and customization it provides. Anyone got some good recommendations for the best sense based ROMs (in their opinion). Screenshots or links would be nice too

I'd recommend CoreDroid
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117841
coredroid for speed... but if you want maximum coolness you need Virtuous Unity http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115333
I'd recommend InsertCoin. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1080999) It is Sense 2.1 for speed, but has some Sense 3.0 features such as the lock screen, widgets, wallpapers, etc. I tried Virtuous Unity and found it very sluggish.
Virtuous Unity for Sense 3.0 and Gingerbread
Virtuous 1.0.2 for Sense 2.1 and Froyo
I have not tried Unity yet as I am in love with Virtuous G-Lite at the moment, but I did like Virtuous 1.0.2 when I had that. There are some small bugs with Unity, according to the thread in the dev section, but generally great reviews on it.

Senses blows... battery killer... but if u really want it. I would try virtuos unity
i also do recommend "CoreDroid Vision GB 2.3.3", any roms by siulmagic are better.but if you want fastest sense based rom then 1st shot should be "Desire_Gingerbread_sense 1.0" Unity is good but its bit slower
I'm curently using Unity Sense 3.0 and I haven't found any problems yet, which is good if you want a full Sense 3 (which is really heavy lol) but I find it runs smooth.
I had InsertCoin and have some stuff to help it movefasters, and amazing thems and the extended quick settings which are a plus.
So IncertCoin would be nice if you consider speed and like the themes.
Haven't test CoreDroid yet, but it does looks awesome.

I've used a variety of Sense and Sense-less ROMs, and never noticed a significant difference in battery life, much less anything that would make Sense a "battery killer". Things like radio and screen brightness have much more effect than Sense or no-Sense.
What blows is the stock Android camera app.

[Q] Cyanogen 7 vs. Android Revolution?

Hey guys, as the title really!
I've been a long term user of Android Revolution (flashed the day I got my Desire HD!) but I've recently switched to Cyanogen 7 to check it out, and I'm pretty impressed.
Mike1986 has just released 5.1.10 which looks awesome, I'm just wondering if anyone has any comparisons between the two ROMS in term of speed/battery life?
Thanks!
I have tried a few sense roms(including AR) and cyanogenmod pretty much beats them in every aspect(speed, battery life, general usability)...
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
If you want the stock HTC Sense look and feel then go with Android Revolution. However if you want Android as Google intended then use Cyanogenmod.
Personally i liked both ROM's but i just couldn't give up Sense in the end.
I'm guessing they're both similar in terms of optimisation and performance tweaks? ARHD boasts a massive amount of tweaks in their thread but I can't seem to find much regarding C7.
AR is fast and the life span of the battery is quit good but the gps signal was very poor compare to CM7 is really good on detecting gps signal. So far was not much comment except the gps problem from the sense rom.
I really like CyanogenMod more even though I love some of the functions on Sense like the clock and usb connection features eg: internet passthrough.
I tried out Android Revolution HD but in the end I went back to CyanogenMod. ARHD is just not as fast because of Sense and it takes a lot longer to boot up too.
I am using ARHD and i am very impressed, by now i dont have any intention to change it

If you wanted to read over the tweaks list for CM7 you'd have to invest a couple of hours of your time! While ARHD has plenty of tweaks, these are essential modifications of the stock ROM. CM7 is built from the ground up and has low level code modifications from some very bright minds indeed. From kernel and driver tweaks to the ARM optimisations, CM7 is always a step ahead in this respect.
Regards.
I don't use rosie (or any of the sense widgets therefore) but do like some of the sense apps - people, dialer, calendar etc are all better than stock. Does cyanogen keep these?
I used ARHD no sense for a while (tested CM 6 and a few others) but since CM7 was released I will stick to it. Simply the best and fastest rom in my opinion.
Latest CM7 Nightly + LordMod UE UUV + 26.09.04.11 Radio seems to be the best combination for my DHD
In my opinion Android Revolution is better, because it looks better for me.

no, it does not, but you can still use ARHD with the no-sense mod which keeps those "sense" apps
the only thing i like about sense rom is the frienstream and the camera.
Thanks for the replies guys!
I've changed back to CM7 with a custom kernel (LorDModUE V4.0 BFSv404), I can't see me changing this for a while!
I really like ARHD no-Sense. So, if Cyanogen will be released and be cool than ARHD - maybe will be migrated..

You can't use the Sense camera app, you generally get the stock Android one instead. Some people prefer HTC's version, I don't use either so I can't really comment.

To be honest, ARHD and CM7 both are good ROM, but CM7 have one big issue that can't solve until now.. the wired headset not working...
Speed wise, both not much different.
ARHD look much better...

WHAT!?!?!?! LOL!!! Dude, headset is working perfectly! I'm using it almost every day. The thing is that you have to configure your phone properly. It can easily be messed up by music apps.
Shinobee and Dod6 - you can configure CM7 to make it look the way you want. If you put a little work into it, the UI may look waaay better that Sense and won't require that much from the phone.
Just flashed arhd the other day and thought it was very nice, I've moved onto virtuous unity 2.39 now and I must say that I find it much smoother and more responsive. I'm probably gonna stick with this for a while but I've decided that my next ROM must be non sense so add to broaden my horizons, likely to be cyanogen 7 as a first choice.

[Q] InsertCoin vs LeeDroid vs AceSMod

Hello all,
Which one of these Gingerbread Sense ROMs do you recommend based on the following criteria?
- Overall speed and stability
- Space left after installing A2SD version
- Battery life
- Inclusion of Sense 3 stuff
- Any other comment
Thanks in advance.
PS: I am a regular reader of the forum. Seen many of the "which one is the best.." threads, but haven't seen one with an in depth comparison..
I use AceSMod007 from v07, it is very fast and stable ROM with good battery life. There is many free space for apps
Sense 3 works great, no lags and no FCs.
ROM is just great, nothing to add more
I use AcesMod007 too. I love the Sense3.0 integration. I've used LeeDrOiD HD port and AcesMod007 and can tell you that while LeeDrOiD is a bit faster, AcesMod007 is better if you want Sense3.0. It's stable fast and in general just really good.
+1 to acesmod. Very fast and stable.
InsertCoin CM7 HBOOT/STOCK 1.1.0 seems a good one.

+1 for insertcoin 1.1.1 cm7r2 hboot
fastest rom for desire!
I am running InsertCoin 1.1.1 CM7r2 hboot too, no issues at all concerning speed or lags. Sense also runs smooth without FC and enough space for apps. Nevertheless have to admit that I did not yet try LeeDroid or Ace, but I guess I also will not try as InsertCoin runs perfect for me.
Just installed Ace. Good rom, smooth and bug-free (until now) but 3D acceleration is not good.
In 3D with Quadrant I have about 20fps less than with Starburst and flash streaming is laggy.
Is this a problem of all the Gingerbread roms?
