Which in your opinion is the best ASOP GB Rom - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know not every rom/kernel will play the same on everyone's phone, but I am just trying to get an idea. So what do you guys think is the best ASOP Gb rom, and what kernel for it. I should mention that I am worried more about battery life then anything, so please keep that in mind.

Stable or nightlys ?

I've found nightlies to be as stable as the "stable" builds but I'd check out 7.0.2.1 if you're new to CM.

Does that build have the mms issue ?

I have never had MMS issues with any CM build. The stable ones should be all good to go anyway.

CM7 w/ Tiamat Kernel using smartass governor and if you wanna go even further grab viperboy's undervolting scripts

I've never had an issue with MMS. Pretty smooth sailing overall.

i thought the sysfs interface for vdd_levels was setup, but it doesn't look like it is. This means that the under/overvolt scripts from -viperboy- will not work on 4.0.0.

When updating to newer cm7 nighties, do I have to do a full wipe? Or can I just wipe cache and dalvik cache.

just wipe cache and dalvik cache

I wiped cache and dalvik cache and then flashed the zip, and it still showed I was on 66. I was trying to flash 67.

I'm running salvage mod for about a week now with incredikernel and its been great. I prefer it to cm7 personally

[Q] CM6 Nightly Is messing up my home and search also

So I was having problems with CM6 rc2 screwing up my home and search buttons and they wouldnt work.
So from reccomendation I flashed to the latest nightly. Well now I'm on the latest nightly I rebooted my phone to fix a sms problem and now the buttons aren't working again.
What do I do?
Is there a better rom then cm6? or is there a more stable nightly that's better then RC-2?
Rc 2 is the most stable. U have to wipe cache and the drive.. Nightlies are not for users who need a stable rom

See and everyone told me the issue I'm having is standard with the RC-2 so that's why I flashed it.
Does anyone know what could be causing this problem I'm having?
Did you file a bug report on the issue tracker? Might want to start there. Or hop on #CyanogenMod on Freenode.

[Q] Can I Flash a Kernel without Erasing everything?

I would like to install Incredikernel without erasing all my data, is that possible? Also would incredikernel 2.6.38.8 and the newest Pure Speed Rom work well?
Flashing kernels does not erase data. So you are safe in that department.
As for the performance of the suggested kernel I do not know

Nope. Pure Speed is Sense, the newest incredikernel is AOSP.
AFAIK there are no 2.3 sense kernals? Correct me someone if im wrong.

[Q] Best aosp kernel?

What kernel is best for cm7? I'm currently on stock cm7 kernel, I just want a fast and stable kernel for everyday use.

For aosp roms I would personally recommend EViollets latest ManU test kernel 2.0.2
Don't let the fact it is a test kernel put you off, it's very stable, very quick, and good battery life.
Find it here...

(bottom of the second post).
Hope it helps.
How about tiamat and vork?
I prefer Tiamat's. I don't know, it just works better for me compared to ManU. To each his own.
ManU works great. Best for battery for me.
Kudos on using the saying correctly btw. It is "to each his own" not "each to his own" which really annoys me for some reason
How to flash the zip? Wipe dalvik and flash?

Kernels are packaged in flashable zip. So yeah flash it. Do nandbackup as usual. You don't need to wipe unless someone more knowledgeable here says otherwise.

you can use kernel cleanup script, you can fine it in the xda form "ultimate_kernel_cleaning_script_v2_by_lippol94.zip",
flash this first then flash the new kernel zip.
Reboot into recovery.
Wipe dalvik cache.
Flash new kernel.
Reboot.
Done
ManU has always been a great kernel for me, Tiamat constantly rebooted my phone.

Personally, ManU would be the kernel of choice.
Have yet to be disappointed

I've always liked the thalamus kernel and a mod 8 version I'm currently using. It works great with Redux 2 and oxygen

Indeed. Won't work with redux 1.2, cm, gingervillain, Miui or dgb though. Different camera drivers you see. So depends on the Rom
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
I tried several kernels (including stock, tiamat, thalamus etc) but I will have to concur - ManU-HAVS kernel has been great so far and I've been using it for a couple of months now. It's very stable and very battery efficient.

[Q] Kernel question.

I'm going to replace my T989's stock ROM with Jugg 5.0.
How do I go about replacing the stock Kernel with Mr. X's Synergy. Only reason I want that Kernel is to have the flashing capacitive buttons for notification purposes...
Do you recommend these two together? Is that possible (since the Kernel is based off Jugg)?
I know how to install the ROM...just not the Kernel.
Also, what is the purpose of replacing the "stock modem?"
Thank you!
my two cent
Edit::: yes you can have Synergy kernel and Juggernaut 's
Rushing said:
Juggernaut 5.0 install directions state that you shouldn't flash something over Jugg 5.0 unless it is states that you can but it doesn't say that you can flash anything over it so no. The rom is fine without a different kernel. Thanks to Team Kang for Juggernaut. You wont need to replace the modem just flash the rom you probably already have so dont fu*k it up here is what I read
"Wanna flash something over this rom? Does it say it will work with this rom? No? and you flashed it anyways??? *sigh* WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!" Correect me if I'm wrong thanks

which rom green lenses?

Hello everyone, I would like to ask you some advice.
Which rom recommended defy with green lenses?
I tried the white rabbit, but the battery drains quickly.
I hope for your advice.
I'm on this: http://fitsnugly.euroskank.com/?rom=cm7&device=jordan its a good stable rom. Others you can try are cm9 froyo version by epsylon, maniacs cm7 builds and wiui, these are all smooth and stable, except some games don't work on cm9, however Spiderman does where it didn't on cm7
