Ok I've been searching and can't find a zip for the stock galaxy s animation. I am getting the android animation (blue text) and I even tried to copy the three boot files from a stock roms system/media folder to fix it. No luck.
Any help is appreciated.

It doesn't exist (not in bootanimation.zip format), pick an alternate boot animation. There are many.
Would this work??

Negatory. You're on a custom kernel which uses bootanimation.zip boot animations - custom boot animations, that is. Those, there, are the .qmg, or stock, boot animations. They can't be used with a custom kernel.
Yea I'm on the stock EC05 custom kernal but need the stock boot animation. What are my options then?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Do you think the kernal maker since using the stock kernal as a base could've kept the stock animation?

Yes, but nobody has any interest in that right now.
Wish there was a thread strickly for boot animation links.

Browse the forum, there's a bunch of animations posted.
I've been searching by "boot animation" "boot animations" "boot screen" and "boot", but there are surprisingly few relevant results. It really would be nice if a sticky were made for people to post all their animations in.
I agree I'm trying to do this from my phone as well. Very difficult.

Will animations for the Fascinate work?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1053250
This thread has the stock ROM in a flashable zip.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1027904
So toy can go into system/media folder and find the bootani.qmg, bootsamsung.qmg or bootsamsungloop.qmg
maybe with the stock kernel you're running it will use those??
Perhaps someone with more knowledge of these files can chime in as well.

I don't really know, but I'm about to find out by loading Liquid Havoc onto my phone.
Im using a rooted stock EC05 kernal on the stoc EC05 rom which is why it took away my Galaxy S boot.
I'd like to have my animation start and end with the fancy "S"...that is remove the Sprint part and only the Sprint part. Does anyone know how that would be accomplished, if it's even possible?
I'm on stock and plan to stay that way, but so far I'm only getting all or nothing; it's either no bootup display at all, or everything as shipped.

Hello, can you tell me where I can find the files for my custom boot up? I installed one using MIUI's Theme Manager, so I'm not sure where I would find it
For AOSP it is in system\media, for sense it is here, system\customize\resource.
And what if I wanted to change the boot animation on the stock rom (rooted)

Rename the old file VZW_bootanimation.zip to .zip.bak
Use android commander to push the file back in - disregard any memory errors. Rename bootanimation to VZW_bootanimation.zip

It would be awesome if people started posting custom boot animations we could flash from recovery.
Wish I had the time and know-how to do it.

Could be a number of things
1) wrong script for cwm(believe everyone above 3 needs editify script
2) not the correct location for the rom your running
3) the one your try to flash may not be flashable
4) could be made for a different phone(if you followed links to get that is)
5) not named correctly for your rom inside the zip
So after all that lets try this
1) what rom are you using
2)what bootanimation are you trying to flash
Give us those and i'm sure someone on here can help you get the one you want on the rom your running.
Tapa away from a galaxy far away
I use root explorer to move bootanimation.zip to system/media, but depends on the rom
Not running any Rom I am rooted and clockwork installed...I can't find any good roms that work perfect like 100% and I like my HTC sense.

Can someone tell me where the bootanimation.zip is located on stock Android 4.0.4 ff18
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
System/media
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Pretty sure the stock boot animation isnt in bootanimation.zip either its like a qmg file or something.
Yeah in the system media folder right ?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
So should I remove the qmg file and push bootanimation.zip via root explorer or is there another way? Just want the glowing S from Calks rom as my bootanimation. Instead of sprint to bright and loud at night
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Are you on a stock kernel? You need a custom kernel that supports boot animation zips.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I'm on stock rom its rooted with agat

Hmm no answer yet so bumping this question
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Tapatalk 2
Sorry been really busy. You have agats kernel you can push the boot animation into system media. U may need to rename it to sanim.zip

If you got this working with your stock/agat, please let me know as I want to change the boot anim on my GF's phone as well..
Thanks
Boot animation support is built into the kernel. So it doesn't matter what rom your on. You can use rom toolbox to change your boot animation and then go into system/media and see what it's named. Either bootanimation.zip or sanim.zip . Then after that you can push any boot animation into the system/media.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
If you have a kernel that supports it like Agat or any other supportive kernel it will work all you gots to do is flash one of these bootanimation zip from the link provided in the bottom. Flash the bootanimation zip from recovery and after booting up replace it with the one you want to use go to system/media folder and replace reboot enjoy.. Here's the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1767421

Everyone says the kernel must support init.d for the boot animations to work, but I cannot find any information on what do I have to place in the init.d to force the kernel to load bootanimation or sanim instead of the fugly sprint animation.
rooted FF18 + .4.2 agat's kernel, I like my current setup just want to get rid of the sprint animation.
If anybody can lead me to the information it'll be much appreciated.
The new boot animation is placed in the system/media folder. Rename it to bootanimation.zip and reboot. So just download one you like and force it in to the media folder or use ROM tool box and it will put it in the system/media folder for you.

Are the permissions set right? Look at g_ding84's screen shot.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Yeah, wow that slipped my mind. Sorry about that. Match the permissions to your ROMs permissions.
Yes the permissions are set as in the picture, also, ROM Toolbox will download the file and supposedly install it but nothing happens, sprint animation still showing.
Make sure you set the install location to system/media. It may want to install data/local.
ohhh
Edit: Changed install location, still nada.
Maybe its because I only have stock FF18 and the only custom thing is I'm using agat's .4.2 ?
Let me know how it turns out
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA
Changed the install location, and the animation plays when I select "preview current" but when I reboot its back to sprint.
Hmm...your running agats kernel right?

Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Yes I am rooted (sfhubs FF18 rooted) and yes I'm running .4.2 agat's kernel, the only things missing from the rom are most of the Sprint crap (widgets and such) and that's it, rooted stock.

Here are some links that might help ya out some... ?
Links: One Two Three
It's pretty simple and you can find the instructions in the links provided, as far as building your own ZIP well that might require a bit more research but from what I have seen it's a bunch of static images with a short script file.
GL!
Search for boot animation factory. It will zip the animations for you and create the text file.
