Yeah just got off the phone with my friend who owns a HTC Hero GSM from sprint, and he said he just got the 2.3 ota update this morning. Idk, maybe he don't know what he's talking about, but the steps he explained sound legit. So, maybe 2.3 is officially here. Yay gingerbread for Christmas.

Tell him to go to Software Version and read off Android version to ya.
Then you'd be sure if it is in fact 2.3

I called him back, and he could find nothing about android version on phone info. But software version was 2.32.something, so i guess its a fluke. Oh well, thought it might've been something.
By the way, I meant to say cdma but haste got the better of me. Afterall I have a DInc, I don't know too much about sprint. So don't get your panties in a wad.

Maybe think before making another thread like this...
There won't be a Gingerbread Sense UI rom before a vanilla OTA for a phone like the nexus. HTC needs to merge all their code in first, and would probably "showcase" the new Sense on a new phone. Common sense.

I'm not trying to be a jerk or one of those people who *****es and moans about stupid ****. I'm just wondering why we don't have an aosp kernel yet and why it just seems like development for this phone is lacking. I had an evo and it was so nice having so many options as far as roms and kernels and themes go. I just wonder if its ever going to happen? For this phone. And yes, I will be patient.

So development is lacking because we haven't released what you want? Try making one yourself.. I have been trying to address current problems before moving on.. building an also kernel that continues to LoS is pretty pointless no? Maybe my development is lacking, but I have still released more actual improvements than most, and I don't even have the device..
By the way, EVO was a far more popular phone, and still took quite a while to get also running....

I currently have the Nexus-S 4G, running Oxygen ROM 2.3.2 and LOVE this ROM. but want a bigger screen phone, so looking at the Epic Touch 4G. I tried the ICS ROM for my Nexus-S that just released this weekend, and I liked it alot, so it got me wondering, before I get the Epic 4G, will wait for a god ICS ROM.
How long until a stable version is out roughly ? I don't mean 100% rock solid perfect like the official Galaxy-Nexus, but something good enough to be used as a daily. December or so ?
It's anybodys guess.. We are all wondering the same thing but obviously no one knows.. Even the developers that are working on a port don't know. There is no use asking.. people are working on this as a hobby and Samsung doesn't even have a firm date on an ETA. Your best bet is to keep tabs on ICS progress in our development section..
One thing.if phone has good hardware,it will run ics.even htc hero,wich is a low-end device runs it already.so for your phone,its just a matter of time.and one more thing,dont ever ask devs for ETA's.they are not full time developers,this is mor like a hobby for them
forget asking when an ICS rom will be available, I'm more concerned with finding out when the MR from Sprint is coming.

The source that Google releases is always for the current dev phone, in this case the galaxy nexus. Our phone has completely different hardware. Porting ics to the epic touch from scratch is a full time job that carries a salary of 50,000-100,000, I wouldn't hold your breath for someone to do it for free. So in other words, whenever Sprint/Samsung releases/leaks something for the epic touch

Dear Devs,
I love the work you guys do. You spend your own free time to make our phones better, and dont ask for much in return. So thanks for that. But i think we have too many sense 3.5 roms. we need some variety. So if you guys feel like working on some really good AOSP roms or something, im sure the dinc 2 community would eat them alive.
PS- im not trying to sound like im complaining too much or anything. I just wanted to voice my opinion on the matter. Im sure you devs love to hear some consumer feedback on your products.
Why don't you try making one? Not sarcastic, a serious suggestion. I'm only here for another month sadly.

Works well, but there are issues to fix... Ie, phone reboots when the screen is off... I've been out of active development for a while, but I'm willing to toss something out there...

Galaxy Nexus, yes. There's no better phone out. I'm getting it in May, so if the GS3 hits, then that's my phone, if not, GNEXUS!

Ok, I'll upload a test Rom tomorrow and post it. Everything seems to work fine, just no backlights, camera and reboots on screen off. Other than that, its functional. Calls work (as long as you don't shut the screen off), sms/mms and WiFi... I'm setting up aroma installer for it now and working on the framework decompile to fix the backlights. The reboots I'm stumped on, though...

I'll hit you up when I have it uploaded. I'm uploading what I'm using now, so it won't be any official release till tomorrow afternoon (when I get off work). I'll list all the bugs and such in the OP when I get it up.
I haven't really had any motivation to keep active on here lately, just a lot of home to deal with and I don't like having to break out for months at a time leaving everyone hanging... Don't know how much I can put into this, but what the heck, I'll try anyway. The Inc2 will probably be official ICS 3.6 by the time all the bugs are worked out, though... lol.

@knipp21- you lucky ducky, and thanks for serving our country. my dads in the military so i know what deployment does to a family.
@Linch89- The inc 4g is crap, barley an upgrade and the "metal" coating on the one x and one s is peeling off on phones. HTC is having to recall them and give the customers ones that are fixed. Thats why as of right now the rezound is a pretty good upgrade. PLus since its been out so long its got a pretty good dev community from what ive heard, never took a look for myself.
@macrodroid- haha i JUST saw that post for your rom. ill try it as soon as it at least goes beta since its still alpha.

It's nice to have you aboard. I am loving the tablet base Roms, they are truly awesome. The only thing that sucks is the battery life.
