Better Bluetooth Headset? - EVO 4G Accessories

Been using a discovery 975 from plantronics for a year now and been completely satisfied with the sound quality but looking for something with AD2P, and possibly better noise cancellation and battery life.
Tried the top- of- the- line blue ant had last year and before that the jawbone2. Both had excellent noise cancellation but callers could tell I was using a headset and even commented it sounded robotic. Voice quality is #1 priority, noise cancellation 2nd, features 3rd.
Suggestions?

Thanks for the reply. I was considering a jabra headset. Do you know if the voice quality much improved from the jawbone2?

This is the first Jawbone that I've owned. I really like it. You get about 5 hours of talk time with it and it plays all media which is really nice. I've listened to podcasts through google listen, music through sense, and baseball games through the MLB app all using the Jawbone. It also fits really nice and secure. It's a little pricey but def nice.

All of that and people on the other end never complain they can't hear me and always seem to understand me (replies go with what I said, w/o them saying "what?")...fits secure....may take some time with all the earbud configurations given to find just that right 1 but you will eventually. I can wear it all day w/o pain if inserted correctly.
The tap tap to answer/end can be flaky but still has button on the back you can use for that

I would try the Sound Id 510, I took a risk and bought one off ebay for a hell of a deal, worked so well I got one for the wife. Very clear, the noise reduction is amazing, very comfortable and they have and android app that lets you tweak the settings.
http://www.soundid.com/sid510/overview.html

Never looked into sound id.
Headsets w/ noise cancellation my voice sounded artificial even after spending $100+ w/ jabra or blueant. I tried a friend's plantronics he spent half the $ it didn't do as well with lots of bg noise but people recognized my voice and didn't say I sounded strange.
I don't mind spending up to $200 if I can get the best of both worlds.
After wearing every day for a year the paint is worn and there's ear boogers in it. Figured technology must have come up with something better. I just hate returns.

I can honestly say that the noise cancellation with the Sound Id is amazing and your voice is not changed at all. That was actually the first question I asked my wife when I bought the piece and she said everything sounded natural and that was the deciding factor in buying her earpiece.

Well the original Jawbone was $120 or $130 when first released. Can't complain if it really works. The Jawbone was and still is the best bluetooth released to date IMO. Well worth every penny. I purchased 3 of them. Only downside was the design wasn't the best fitting but the sound was perfect.

Jawbone not necessarily the best anymore either...
agreed; that honor now goes to plantronics voyage pro plus...simply 5 ****
in every area, except style...
best sound, best comfort, best multipoint/a2dp, "stereo" sound through a single earpiece, longest battery life, and everything else.
I think after owning at least 25 bt headsets, I can say with confidence that this is the winner!
and, if you look carefully, you can grab it for 69 bucks or so!
Voyager pro plus, nice headset but hurts my ear and royally sucks with glasses.... I hear they are releasing the same thing in a bud style. M1100 or something.

I was talking about the first Jawbone. I didn't care for the Jawbone 2. I do own & like the Icon but the first model is still tops in my book. Still have 2 of those laying around, just got tired of ordering ear loops for them. They break too easily plus they get very uncomfortable. The design wasn't all that great but it gave me the best sound of any Bluetooth I've used to date.

yeah, I could see that some glass frames would be a bit of a problem..
I saw the earbud model as well; I think its on CNET or somewhere like that...
does it hurt your ear because of your glasses, or for some other reason?
I can wear this thing for 8 hours with no discomfort what so ever, and I hate things in my ears..

The glasses, yes, caused too many issues plus, I guess I have odd ears because the rubber loop and bulk behind my ear caused too much pressure and annoyance. (and pulled my ear out like dumbo)
I have to have custom ear molds done for headsets and can only use my right ear.
Side note....
If you've never done a custom ear mold, you haven't really experienced perfection! Even with your pro plus. My audiologist does mine usually but I've ordered from http://www.averysound.com before too.
yeah, I have heard that the custom ear molds are the way to go..expensive, but great if you need them..
I have the bose, it's my 2nd favorite. 1st place goes to the new Motorola oasis. Still looking for the perfect BT. Both the bose and Oasis sound good to people on the other end. THe bose sounds better than the motorola oasis on my end. The Oasis is just so comfortable, the best feeling BT yet. I've tried 30+ different models and those 2 are the best. I'll try that plantronics pro next. A friend of mine who has used BT for years as well, says the Sound ID is his favorite. Anybody else tried them? The bose should have a2dp for $150 but it doesnt, that sucks.
sound ID is overpriced and worthless; no mac support, and only firmware up dateable on 32 bit windows machines..plus, only average sound quality, just overpriced, and targeted to iphone users...

My biggest complaint with bluetooth headsets is the sound. None of them are loud enough. Someone needs to make a weather proof, loud headset for construction workers.

I have a few BT's as far as sound quality goes the Bose works the best IMHO, it is comfortable for me, now is it worth 150 ... Thats up to you. I concure the lack of a2dp is a huge bummer. Try it out for 14 days, Best Buy will let you return it, at least they always let me.
I have the Bose Bluetooth. It works well with my Samsung Captivate (Android 2.2), but it will not play music via Music Player. Can't seem to get it to pair to the music player.
And I've discovered why, on the Bose site itself:Can I listen to music on my mobile phone with the Bose Bluetooth headset?
No. The Bose Bluetooth headset was designed as a communications device. It was not designed to receive stereo music from a phone or PC.

Best in ear BT headset for the ET4G - single ear for making calls?

I figure people in this group probably only want the best phone equipment. I've been using the plantronics voyager 975 for years and it is extremely comfortable, light and sounds pretty good. I was curious if people had compared it to say the Jawbone ERA or other in hear headsets. I'm not fond of over the ear ones as I want it to be very compact to fit in my pocket but I need to be as clear to my clients as possible. I'm just looking for a single ear headset for making calls.
Anyone who has had the 975 and can compare it to a better headset would be ideal.

I use the stereo Plantronics, can't remember the model, it's about a year old. Has worked great with every phone and laptop I've thrown at it.
Mainly use it at the gym, so I can keep my phone in my pocket and not have to deal with cords. In the car, I use the BT in my stereo for music and calls (best invention ever IMO)

Does the Noise Cancellation prevent you from hearing sirens of emergency vehicles or the horns of cars around you? It is illegal in California to wear headphones of any kind while driving.

Actually there is a difference in that in most Factory car stereos and the average after market head unit, the volumes are not loud enough to completely drown out outside noise. Either way it is technically illegal in California to have the radio at a level where you cannot hear car horns or the sirens of emergency vehicles. Regardless of how good of a driver you think you are, not being able to hear horns and sirens makes you a danger to everyone around you. Having relatives who are emergency response and firemen, I cannot tell you how many true stories I have heard about people being oblivious to the sirens and even the flashing lights and air horns.

I have had mine since it literally came out. No issues. Use it with my phone and with my PS3. I had the original one also which suffered from issues of the piece that goes in the ear braking off. Not with this one. I actually took my old one(black) and popped the black off and put it on my V1. I like the black more than that silver look. No issues....
I have had several of them. I love my Moto Finiti Bluetooth. You can say "answer" or "ignore" on incoming calls as well as,other voice commands. It also has 2 microphones and great noise reduction and it stays charged for a long time. There is also a Motospeak app on the Market that adds more options

Which Stereo BlueTooth headset has the best sound and best funtionality

Hi guys,
so my $80 skull candy ear buds have been lost or stolen, and i was thinking of getting a nice Stereo BT headset for when im working and shredding the slopes. I was looking at the LG HBS-700, but i know there is a lot more out there. Which one has the best sound (good highs, mids and really nice lows) and is the most functional. Would be nice to also be able to make and receive calls and prefer ear buds, but i am open to whatever really

how is the bass on all of the suggested headsets?
I have the LG HBS-700 and they are great. They do not give much bass but I mostly use them for audio books and some Pandora and calls when driving. The thing I like most is the way they fit, unlike most others BT Head sets they are comfortable and for $50 they are a deal. If your looking for major bass then these are not for you. In addition they give great call quality.
For double the price my father in law has a jaybird headset and swears by them. The only thing is because of the design they are easy to loose becuase you forget you have them on when not in your ears. He learned that the hard way, they fell in the fire when we went camping and didn't know till the next morning when we saw charred pieces in the fire pit. At that point he only had them for a week.
Bass send good to me on the jaybird but I should tell you that I I'm 46 and have some hearing loss from the time I spent in the military...
If you have a best buy near you which has a set in stock you could buy them, try them and return them if you don't like them.
...I have a set of less expensive skull candy wired headphones and I think they produce a bit more bass...

I personally do not like Bluetooth headsets for music Idk just really don't like them. But if you are looking for some really great headphones that are wired try Radio Shack and look for PointMobile headphones personally, there better then the Skullcandy Fmj and 50/50 combined and for only 30 its a steal.

Have been using the Motorola S305 for the gym for a good 3+ years now. Fit really well, light, excellent battery life and solid BT range. Only concern is they're not as compact as the below headsets, so I only use them at the gym.
Jaybird Freedom's I use on my public transit commute to work. Don't stay on particularly well, even with their new rubber seals, but since I'm just sitting there with minimal motion they're fine. Poor battery life, maybe 3-4 hours per full charge and the range is short (<5 feet). I like the useful playback controls and volume buttons, however.
Outdoor Technology Tags are, in most areas, an improvement on the Jaybirds, but the cord is so darned long and the bright red is too flashy for my tastes. They fit remarkably well, seeing how similar they are designed compared to the Jaybirds. Battery life is also a bit longer than the Jaybirds.
I use the motorola S9-HD, I tried the nwer S10-HD - I wasn't impress with the bass,

Budget Bluetooth headset with noise cancellation

Does anyone have any recommendations for a Bluetooth headset which features noise cancellation? I'm not looking spend $200 on one, but it's got to be comfortable and the noise cancellation must work well.
I've owned a blueant z9 in the past and liked that, but the Jawbone products seem to be popular.
Anyone have personal experience with a good headset?

Best one I've used was a BlueAnt Q2. They're $99 new at Best Buy... but you can find them refurbished online for $30.
Best Noice Cancellation and Spoken Name Announce, plus an "HD Speaker" for A2DP which does sound MUCH better then other bluetooth's (Jawbone) I've used. Noice Cancellation was also better on the Blueant vs Jawbone.

I had an original Jawbone that worked well for noise cancellation. I was able to have a clear conversation in a convertible at 80mph.. can't comment on any others though.
Thanks for the replies. I did some research and concluded that the Jawbone Icon was the one that will satisfy my needs. Hopefully, it will work well with the Galaxy Nexus

I owned a Jawbone Icon and I completely dislike it using the Nexus. The BlueAnt Q2 is super awesome compared to it.
The Q2 is completely hands free. Answer calls by SAYING "Answer". The Jawbone requires you physically hitting the button.
Q2 has Name announce and actually downloads your whole phonebook. The Jawbone only says "Call from 444-555-1234". Annoying.
The Q2 is much faster at relaying system tones through A2DP. The Jawbone had a wicked delay. Horrible for dialing numbers. You would be half way through a phone number before you would start hearing the tones... and the tones would continue even after your done (because of the delay).
Q2 has a much better noice cancellation technology. The Jawbone taughts military grade noice cancellation but sounded like crap. My dad was a Voice guy and I use him to compare my headsets too. He said the Q2 sounded much better then the Jawbone.
Sorry to rant but I literally JUST went through this with the Jawbone Icon and it was a horrible experience, hence why I bought a BlueAnt Q2 3 days after getting a Jawbone.

How well does noiseassasin work for you? With it on, it certainly sounds better than with it off, but it doesn't eliminate noise. Even my wife talking across the room is easily picked up and not filtered out. Of course, on a test call with Jawbone's tech support, they say they can't hear any noise in the background, even when I played a very loud drummer from YouTube in the background. I just don't believe them.

Best bluetooth wireless headset?

For the last 3 years I have been using a Motorola s805 dj style headset. I used it for movies, music, and for talking. I has worked great but it recently broke, I would like to get something similar. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Sent from my SCH-I535
Suprisingly I have the dell stereo bluetooth headset (which is discontinued) and it's fantastic. the quality and life of those are great, but too bad i can't find them anywhere..
i'm currently using the plantronics backbeats 903+ and do do quite well. i like the "environment" feature (when you pause music it puts the mic to work to pick up sounds of what's around you so you can hear better when the music is off)
Go Groove Airband is pretty decent.
I checked both of those headsets out but it's not really what I'm looking for. Here is a picture of the Motorola s805 that I use to use. I would like something comparable.
I'm using a Samsung HM1100 which is probably the best one I've had since a Plantronics Voyager 510 and GN Netcom GN6210... all three were various priced but the HM1100 was the cheapest at $15 but seems to works least worst. However it doesn't support music and still not "loud" enough for my liking.
My all time fav was my Jabra BT8010. Great sound, a bit heavy, very comfortable, functional AVRCP, name callerid and dialing form the OLED screen, and best of all, instant immersive stereo just by attaching a second, smaller earpiece.
I'm currently playing with a Moto H17txt that I picked up refurbished for $15 and am very happy with it so far. Extremely small and light while still maintaining good sound and volume. I also just bought my mom a BlueAnt Q2 ($29 new, bulk) that is impressive, though larger and heavier. Reviews say it should work well in my convertible, I'll have to give it a try next spring.
My biggest gripe so far is trying to get a decent hands free voice dial working on the S3. Best solution I've found is Vlingo, but it requires that I run without a lockscreen. I even bought a Samsung HM3600 to try and get AVX working decently, but removing A2DP didn't smooth that app out near as much as I'd hoped.
I just ordered the Samsung HS3000. I used it for a few days as a headset, then got the idea to use it in my car to add bluetooth capabilities and handsfree driving. I clipped it to a point in my headliner and tried it out as a handsfree phone while driving at speed (around 80mph). The person on the other end said they could hear a little bit of road noise, but it sounded great. So it has been mounted in my car since then! Of course, it streams audio as well.
The take-away here is that these new BYOH (bring your own headphone) BT units can be more flexible than you think. I may order a second one to actually use as a headset!
I've been happy with the LG Tone headphones I got a while ago. http://www.amazon.com/LG-Wireless-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B0052YFYFK

I'm still rocking a BT8010 and I love it. I hate that the general idea of that kind of convertible monaural-binaural headset was abandoned by OEMs. I'm building my own headset that improves on the design since it's nearly impossible to find the BT8010 anymore and nothing else comes close.
I used to have the bt8010 as well, it's super nice but has 2 minor drawbacks
1) the earhook can come loose over time. I remedy this with a layer of electrical tape at the tip.
2) the wires that connect around back will get stiff and in a specific shape over time. not much can be done with that one....
but apart from that, it's a rocking awesoms bt headset. i still have a spare stereo part at home which is completely unused...

do you prefer it to be discreet? or do you not care about the size. if you want discreet, try the the backbeats I mentioned or the jabra bt8010. if you want middle sized, try the dell bh200. it sounds surprisingly good and is pretty loud if you max it out.
I don't know about the big ones though...
another one i heard about is the jabra dog tag ones... that just hangs off your neck like a necklace.

Size doesn't matter, I just need them to be over the ear, comfortable, and they need to be noise isolating because I will also use them at work and I am required to use hearing protection. I have a budget of up to $200

Samsung HS3000 + your favourite set of in-ear or over-the-ear headphones. Will cost you less, will be more flexible and will make you happy, because HS3000 uses APT-X codec, which does the job well. If you get tired, if you break the earphones just plug in another set. I'm using it with a pair of Sehnheiser's IE7 IEMs, very little difference between this and the 3.5mm plug in the phone.

bummer, then I have no clue what would fit within your criteria.. I don't know of any bt headset that has noise cancellation. maybe try the dog tags with a decent headphone that has a built in noise cancellation doohickey on it.

these earphones to me are the best because, able to call, listen to music, hear clearly, battery life isn't that bad, simple to use. pricey by about 120 when i bought them but trust me for me to have them a a mountain bike cyclist it works xD!!!

I checked both of those headsets out but it's not really what I'm looking for. Here is a picture of the Motorola s805 that I use to use. I would like something comparable.

I still have mine. They are awesome. I got them with my snowboard helmet nine.nine. they still work good. But now I only use then for boarding and ps3.
