im running Inc Rom 1.6 and if i do believe i still had a problem with the ziggy kernals but i will try again due to my google account getting messed up from the playstation hacking that occured. since then all my emails went haywire.

i meant to say i factory reset my phone so i didnt save the ziggy kernal but i think it still had graphical glitch bars when i tried it.

Actually it wasnt overclockable thats why i didnt keep it its the same as all sence kernals. This is a bummer because i like sence roms for the camera and they have no overclocking kernals that i found yet

Then your doing something wrong. I have ziggys 3/12 bfs wo havs, and it goes to 1.22. Its stable at 1.113 for me. Are you allowing superuser for setcpu?

Chad's December Incredikernal for Sense is overclockable and works great.

If my phone seems alright to me, is it worth flashing a new kernel?

I dont have any complaints with my phone. Im running htc kernel #17 and myn's warm2.2
The phone is great to me as it sits, so is there any other features that should sway me to flashing a new kernel?
also whats the difference between HAVs and non-HAVs? Whats sbc? Dont tell me to search because I did and well didnt get much, only on BFS and CFS
Imo, if you like your kernel don't change it. When I find a good kernel I stick with it . Just my 2 cents

Thats kinda what I was thinking.. but I dont know whats out there ya know? Is there really something better out there for battery and speed versus the HTC #17? I seen alot of myn's running the stock kernel. So that could be they are happy with it, or maybe they haven't flashed anything over it yet.
Surely with all the knowledge out here, there has to be a kernel that still utilizes great battery with more speed.
Heat does effect these phones right? Like life span of the CPU, battery etc.

How do I overclock my epic 4g?

I've seen people with my phone overclocked up to 1.3 ghz I would like to do the same. I am rooted running viper rom. Any help would be awesome thanks

You need a over clock kernel. There imply available on 2.1 roms right now
Haterz gonna hate. Just keep hatin. I brush them haterz off. It ain't my fault my epic's e-penis is bigger then the evo's e-penis.
Lol. Evo epenis needs viagra. Nerds over at ppcgeeks banned me for proving evo suxs steve jobs nutsak.

It's not possible to overclock with a DK-28 Modem, you have to be on 2.1 Eclair to overclock.
Can you explain to me how (and where) to find a kernel and install it. I know how to use Odin to get back to 2.1 and I can reroot it, no biggie. But I have no experience with installing new kernels. I'm kinda learning as I go... thanks for the help: )

Here's a OC kernel. Odin back to 2.1 (DI18), root and install the kernel in the provided thread.

This is the kernel I was using prior to 2.2 flash. Worked great! Very fast and stable.
You can also try SyndicateRom with the Xtreme kernel. I enjoyed that before the froyo leaks started.
Yeah those days feel so long ago,I wish we had source for 2.2.1 alreay... Anyway I found Phoenix kernel to be the best, alot less bugs. That with any DI18 ROM was awesome.

Regardless about how anyone around here feels about this gentleman, I would say for a 2.1 Rom your best bet would probably be Baked Snack (1.6). I won't post a link but all you have to do is google Baked Snack Epic4g and youll find it.
I went back and fourth to Froyo leaks a few different times as new ones were released, and I still always end up reverting back to this Rom, it just seems to be the snappiest 2.1 (or 2.2 for that matter) Rom available, It has a well working apps2sd, kernel options for best battery life, (IMHO) and you can overclock to either 1.2 or 1.3 ghz on it. Just my 2 cents. For me the only quasi-important feature I'm missing out on by not running Froyo is Flash, but TBH thats not that important to me. I'm never too far from a computer if I need it that bad.
is 2.1 with overclock kernel that much faster than 2.2.1 without overclock. I like my rooted 2.2.1. not really wanting to go backwards.
a slower chip running a newer OS or a faster chip running and older OS....ya 2.1 OC'ed will be fast.
I hate how everyone listed a different ROM, it's just so daunting now! It makes me afraid to switch from stock!
check this out, list of roms kernels etc/

[Q] Semi-Constant force closing when I overclock

Hi there.
I'm running Warm Z 2.2 w/ Chad's 12/23 cfs +v25 kernel. Everything runs smooth until I overclock it even a notch up. Some times the phone freezes as a whole, reboots, and yeah.
Is there any way I keep these force closes from happening and still keep the same ROM and kernel?
-Pocketing HTC Incredible-
simple answer is yes, by not overclocking. I personally havent ran Warm Z but I do know different phones have different problems that could be caused by (small)difference in hardware. Such as not every phone having the same overclocking ability. The problem could be your just doesnt support overclocking and not be related to your kernel or ROM. But dont give up hope on my account.
Hopefully someone else more knowledgeable on your setup then me will chime in and correct me.
Thank you for your reply bro. I hope my hardware can be overclocked. Maybe I will try a different kernel / ROM and see if I notice a difference.

Same issue. Running ire z 1.1, ziggy's, try to oc to 1.075.... and will randomly fc, 3 or 4 times a day. Went back to 998... and do not have a problem ever. Sometimes things just are what they are.

Overclock

Can u overclock the dinc and if u can how do u do it. Thanks in advance
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
There are a couple of ways to overclock the dInc, but it depends on which kernel you use and what ROM you have. For froyo, Ziggy's are probably the best. Tiamat is very nice for AOSP gingerbread. An app called SetCPU can be found for free to XDA members on here. Just Google it. There's also a couple free apps on the market. If you're still using froyo, I suggest only Ziggy's because his will allow you to use scripts to change the speed and the voltage at every step and he lays it all out very nicely, including samples that you can just edit and mix together. The benefit of the script is it doesn't use system resources like an app would.
Pushing it to 1.153 should be hard with most kernels so long as they aren't undervolted. Some devices are stable at 1.19 and some even higher. Few will exceed 1.19 though. Overclocking and tweaking kernels can be an interesting thing. Most kernels with a sysfs or ramdisk will allow some kind of scripting. Definitely check out Chad's IncrediControl.
Another good kernel for ASOP Roms (both gingerbread and Froyo) is Incredikernel. Always check and see if the Rom you want to overclockable and if it doesn't say in the OP ask the creator of the Rom, they'd be happy to help you out. Also, make sure you know the correct way to flash a kernel. It's the same way you flash a Rom, so it shouldn't give you any trouble. Happy Flashing and Overclocking!
Thank-you guys. I'm using kingdom rewind 3d so ill ask joelz if it overclockable and if not...so be it. Once again thanks for the replies

None of the gingersense ROM's will be overclockable until HTC releases the kernel source. Which will happen sometime after we get the OTA. So it's either Froyo Sense or AOSP Gingerbread if you have to overclock.

Not sure that's true. I'm overclocking the kernel on this Tbolt and there's no source released for it either.

It's not available on XDA anymore. I'm actually running Ziggy's kernel on it now. I'm gonna change my sig in a second.
I have found if the ROM is developed well enough, overclocking is not needed. You wont see too many benefits.

On 3G, not really. On fast WiFi or LTE, yes. That's when you're looking at situations where the device isn't waiting for data. That's where you'll see the bigger benefits of overclocking.

Kind of off topic, but what benchmarks (apps) are you guys using to determine the effectiveness of your overclock?

Doesn't really matter. Quadrant, linpack... you're comparing same setup to same setup. An overclock on one isn't going to yield comparatively different results when compared to any other... at least it SHOULDN'T.
This may be a stupid question...I am having trouble with all the kernels and ROMs determining what is a safe OC for my DInc. I am flashing CM7.0.3 now and I read that it's got OC built-in. I just wanted to OC to whatever is definitely safe. Is that 1.113 GHz or 1.153 GHz as indicated earlier in the thread?
Or is it something I'm going to have test on my device to see if it exhibits a specific symptom?

Your milage may vary, but usually when things become unstable you can't really naviagte to anything and you get a bunch of reboots, or so it has been in my case, but again YMMV.

Every kernel dev has his own choices for kernel voltage and that's usually the single biggest variable in what stable will be. 1.113 should be stable for most devices though.
Thanks for the responses. I tried 1.113 on CM7 (7.0.3) on my Incredible and I started getting constant reboots. I put it back to 998. Maybe I'll try another setting later.

im a noob to root stuff soooo idk.. i do know what a kernel is now but im not sure what one im running or anything like that.. still hard for me to understand all this
If you haven't flashed a custom kernel then you still have the stock one which doesn't underclock or overclock
We're comin from a pure power source.
well im using team nocturnal sense 3.0 rom so idk if that would have it built in? sorry so new
