Hi guys,
I can't seem to be able to flash my radio. My phone is Radio S-OFF and Eng S-OFF, rooted, etc.
It doesn't give a specific error message, just does this:
In bootloader, running command line from Radio flash folder, radio.img is in its place, "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
Sending... -> doesn't finish sending:
I disconnected it -> error message
reconnected it and started the same command again, same result, sending
disconnected it -> error message as below
I have HTC sync installed, windows7.
Any ideas?

I´M NOT AN EXPERT IN WINDOZE, because i use ubuntu
but you was tried to use FASTBOOT COMMANDER? is an useful tool for flashing radios etc... download it and start your device into bootloader,
then put a image file of your prefered radio in the "radio.img" paragraph in fastboot commander, press FLASH IT! and enjoy
try an post if you want of course LOL
IS THE THE MOST HARMLESS METHOD FOR YOUR DEVICE..
i recommend use adb shell ONLY when you tried all the rest methods..
I'm not an expert, but when I flash any radio the phone must be in H-Boot engineering AND fastboot waiting. You need to press the first option in the menu (fastboot mode) in order to start listening commands through usb.
You can check that your phone is ready by using "fastboot devices".
If all is OK you will get a response with your Device ID.
Just noticed we already have a thread about this subject (well, we have a lot but there's one that's live):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13469330
Please, let's search before starting a new thread and maybe just stick to the the thread above from this point forward.

HAVE YOU GOT RADIO s-off? it´s necessary for flash different radio than the stock..
if you have radio s-off and you checked if you have CID-1111111
if via adb don´t works...
i recommend to you use fastBOOT COMANDER FOR TO FLASH RADIOS.
step by step:
1- download fastbootcommander (browse for it in developement forum)
2- download your needed radio
3- put it in the paragraph that says "RADIO" in the fastbootcommander application
4-press "flash radio" button and enjoy
remember that you must to put your device in the bootloader for flash any radio with this app.
fastbootcommander is an useful tool and the most important: its totally harmless

Thanks for the help, I've confirmed that i have eng s off and radio off by the CID-1111111 in the info tab, and have tried using the fastboot commander however when im trying to flash the radio it says radio flash failure, any ideas?
Im going to go to another custom rom should i try again after i flash to that?
Has nothing to do with the ROM so that won't help.
Are you definitely using a radio.img designed for fastboot?
Did you confirm the MD5 Hash (if you didn't then you have risked bricking your phone. This step (md5sum) is an absolute must.
Do you have HTC Sync installed? If yes, reinstall it. If not, get it

Hello, I have like eight hours of continuous searching for solve this problem.
I installed like two months ago the Android Revolutionary HD 6.1.5 ROM, i did S-off, Radio-off, Root, etc, following the tutorials of XDA. But i installed the actualization of ARHD 6.2.0 and it works very nice but one day later when i was talking by the phone it stopped, then sense was not responding, and it finally restarted alone.
The big problem is it was only showing the HTC logo and then the screen puts black.
I get into HBoot and it searches for PD98IMG.zip
i putted the PD98IMG.zip in the card and it says this:
- Sd checking...
Loading...[PD98DIAG.zip]
No image!
Loading...[PD98DIAG.nhb]
No image or wrong image!
Loading...[PD98img.zip]
I say yes and it shows:
- Image unzipping fail!
Update Fail!
Press <POWER> to reboot
I tried a lot of RUU`s, like 13 and i can´t find one who works, the only who was acepted was ono withe the recovery only. With USB it does not work either.
I sent it to the company who sold me it and they have no idea about...
I hope you can help me, i am a little dissapointed, because i tried all the RUU`s what i founded in the web.
Thank you very much, Freesoft.

Try to go into recovery mode. What exactly is the problem. If it is not booting in...go to recovery and select fix permissions... this will solve any problems. If not try to install a rom with full wipe and reboot. If you flash a PD98IMG.zip then once again you need to root, S OFF, etc etc....
Stop what you are doing before you brick your phone.
The PD98 error you are getting happens to all rooted DHD's, and is nothing to worry about (delete it from your sd card). RUU's are for stock devices, or for returning to stock.
Check to make sure you haven't screwed up your root access, and flash a ROM .zip file from the developers thread (in recovery, from your sd card). And always check the checksum before flashing.

Well, actualy, i can`t get into Recovery, it reboots and the screen turns black, the only thing what the phone admits is PD98IMG.zip.
Thank you very much for responding!
Delete that file from your SD card, and check if you can get into recovery. If yes, download superWIPE for ARHD, and ARHD rom and install it ( it's different base i think, so you have to superWipe it )
PD98IMG.zip is the radio, if that's what you need they can all be found here:

Might be worth flashing the latest and seeing if your phone behaves enough afterwards to let you get into recovery.
I take it you are trying from bootloader?
Also does your computer recognize the phone on usb?

Sounds to me your Recovery has an error.
Download and extract Android Flasher http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=794638
Boot into Bootloader & select fastboot
Use AndroidFlasher to install a new Recovery image.
Link to my copy of of the previous 4ext Touch recovery, so it should work.
Extract the image to wherever you extracted AndroidFlasher and make sure you select 'already in fastboot' prior to flashing.
Then you should be able to get into Recovery. Full wipe, install ROM, etc.
Hope this solves your problem.

I am trying all this and i think it will work, the problem is my phone is "SHIP S-OFF"
But i don`t know hot to change from Ship to ENG...
Thank you very much for the answer, from now in one week i think my DHD will work again
If memory serves, you only need Eng to change the radio.
But don't quote me on that

I have tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396253
The PD98IMG.zip worked, so i am glad my desire is not bricked yet.
I still not having access to recovery, my phone is SHIP S-OFF not ENG S-OFF and i can`t change the Recovery, i can`t install the SDK drivers for bootloader.
I tried too with Android Flasher, and there doesn`t work because my phone is not ENG S-OFF.
My questions are this: how i can change now to ENG S-OFF?
What else i can do for revive the Desire HD?
Thank a lot for responding this post, i don`t know what i`ll do without all of you!
Personally I see no reason to Eng soff. You can still flash radios and recoveries with just regular soff. Just its done in a different way.
In that thread you posted their is a link for cwr in a pd98img. Just follow the directions I wrote.(its the first section)
But if you are set on getting Eng soff in the dev section you can use jkoljo tool.
Your second question confuses me. You said your phone is now working so what do you mean by reviving your phone?
Well, i tried ADB, the problem now is when i installed the drivers, in the command prompt i cant find my phone.
I was trying with this:
C:\adb devices
List of devices attached
In Device Manager it appairs like: Android Phone>Android ADB Interface
What i can do now?
I know I'm a little annoying, but I will really appreciate your help if we make it work!
Anyone can help with ADB with desire hd?
Well to be able to use command prompt on your computers first off would be to add the adb path which is normally C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools or in C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\tools
Then you'll be able to use adb commands.
if not while in command prompt, just use the cd command to get in that directory so you can use the adb.exe
per exemple;
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\tools
then you'll be able to use commands has
adb push [the file which should be in the same place] /data/local/tmp
Then if you just want to run command on your cell interface just write
adb shell
if you're in root you should start to write beside a #
it would look
<C:\[path]>adb shell
# [here you'll run command on your cellphone]
because if you run in command prompt right away
<C:\>adb device
without having the file to get the adb.exe
But as for using adb shell, if your device is connected and activated in debugged mode you'll be fine.

I did that, it doesn`t work because it says "error: device not found" i tried reinstalling many times the ADB drivers and another few with the path file, no results. With "adb devices" it says "list of devices attached" then, nothing.
I am really gratefull with all your answers, i hope we can made it work
I have a question more, it`s posible to put it in "debugging mode" from HBOOT?
Thanks a lot!
So, nobody can help me? that who help me will be rewarded!
You said only the recovery pd98 works. Reflash it. After it reboot and hangs take out battery and SD card. Reinsert battery and enter boot. Wait for it to scan, then reinsert sdcard and enter recovery. Wipe and reflash a rom or backup
Edit - still confused, from your pm you suggested that your dhd doesn't work? I need a simple yes it boots or doesn't, before we can go anywhere

So, I followed the instructions and relocked my bootloader while on fastboot, then it went downhill from there. Phone automatically rebooted into HBOOT and it said that my bootloader was re-locked and below it "Security Warning". Everytime I reboot it always takes me to Fastboot. The weird thing is whenever I try to flash something in fastboot mode the CMD Window just says "Waiting for Device". When I check my phone, I can not move the volume rocker up and down in Fastboot mode while having my phone connected to my PC, but when I disconnect the USB plug, I can move it up and down. When I try to go through the RUU process, it says ERROR 170 and can't find my phone. I am lost as what to do, since I don't know how to get Fastboot to work properly and out of ideas. Please help. I had the same problem when I first tried to flash leedroid 10.4.5. Try installing DroidExplorer.
Worked great for me! let me know if it worked for you:good:
You need to add the ADB paths to your actual windows path.
Right click "Computer" click "Properties" then Click "Advanced System Properties" then go to Envioronment variables and add the paths to adb folders into that, using a ";" to separate each path.
Hope that makes sense, a little hard to textually explain

Unplug your phone
Turn off your phone
turn on your phone
choose fastboot
connect usb[
use fastboot commands /B]
(it's very important that you do it in this order because otherwise the bootloader will think your pc is a storage device and will lag because it will attempt to search for update.zip nowhere)
Use fastboot commands not adb (adb commands almost never work on bootloader)
If that still doesnt work then either the drivers aren't installed properly, otherwise you have to check with repair centers(i dont think its this one)
Hello,
First of all, it has been a while since i've done tweaking my old one X, but my dad uses the phone now, and he asked me to update it, since the old rom crashed sometimes.
now i found out the was android 4.2 roms available for the one x, and wanted to flash them.
although, i figured out, i needed a higher Hboot, since mine was at 0.95, i needed 1.29+.
tried to figure out how this worked, and i thought i finally knew it, but than the last step wouldn't want to complete, while in RUU, it didn't want to do what it had to do..
so after some hours shouting at my pc and phone, i decided it had enough of it, and would just flash another rom, which didnt need the higher Hboot.
but now comes the crap...
i downloaded one_X_sfied rom, and i though hey its finally working, i saw the bars going green, and all the stuff..
but while rebooting the phone, it wouldnt go past HTC - quietly briliant - logo. so i decided to install it once more via recovery.
again all bars go green.. but this time it wouldnt start the phone either..
so i wanted to go back to recovery, but now it wont load recovery either! when i click on my recovery, it boots the phone again, and keeps rebooting at HTC logo..
i found out i made a mistake, and didnt flash the new kernel for this rom, i was little bit hurried.. so i guess overlooked it... stupid me, i know....
anyway, only thing i can access now is the fastboot and hboot, my bootloader is unlocked, and hboot is 0.95.
my cidnumber is: HTC E___11
there was another number, i thought RUU number, but i don't know the command to get it anymore, don't know if i need it..
anyway, now my question..
how do i ever get this phone working again, if it's even possible...?
any ideas?
thanks alot for reading and applying.
(sorry for grammar mistakes )
- edit -
now it somehow restarted the bootloader, and stops at ''checking sd card update...''
which means. i cant even get into fastboot either.. guess im screwed up now ... ----------lucky me, it shows the fastboot again.. sweat for nothing
what is your version?
what version do you mean?
RUU?
Have you flashed the right RUU for sure ? Try flashing again and remember that you have to relock the bootloader before !

yep. maybe 5-10 mins.
For the last two days I tried to revert my HTC One V back to stock android. As in, the way I got it when I first booted it up. I experienced that this progress was pretty difficult. Maybe this was because I was used to the AOSP niceness of Google's LG NExus 4 or because HTC made it very hard to say the least to downgrade/upgrade to their own stock ROM.
I may not have the original sources for all files because I deleted some original .zip files and only have the extracted files.
First off, I wouldn't do any of this if you have important files on your device, I wiped everything from my phone a dozen of times in the process and it didn't care because I didn't had any important files on their.
Alright, so what we want to achieve is to get to the latest version of HTC's RUU version "2.22.401.7". The RUU I could find was "2.22.401.1" so we're gonna have to d/l some OTA's later on via our device if everything is set up.
So obviously everyone who is trying to revert back has somewhere unlocked their bootloader by doing
fastboot oem get_identifier_token
and
fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
Please remember this: ANY RUU will fail every single time if your device is LOCKED. It will ONLY work if it's unlocked or relocked.
So first off what we gonna have to do is relock/unlock our device. You can relock your device by going into fastboot[1] mode and running the following command:
fastboot oem lock
Myself have expierenced an error that told me it "FAILED". Please reboot your bootload:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
And check the locked status at the top. If it says "RELOCKED", succes! If it didn't, retry the command above.
Next, we're relocked so we can run the RUU. Please look at the text file at the RUU source [2] for the download links. In this .zip file are the files inside the RUU wizard. You can run the wizard by executing "ARUWizard.exe" and you can view the contents of the actual ROM in "rom.zip extracted" and you can find the original ROM in "rom.zip". Since these are the files the wizard will be using (except rom.zip extracted folder) please do not touch them.
Alright, so we've got the extracted files of the RUU and we're ready to update. Please boot your phone in fastboot mode and connect it to your computer via USB. Now run the "ARUWizard.exe" file and let it update. I couldn't think of a situation where this could go wrong, so please ask below if you face any problems.
The wizard will flash stock radio, recovery andsystem.img (the actual ROM you all know) so by doing this you lose your custom revovery.
When your phone boots up you've gotta go through 3-4 updates till it's on "2.22.401.7".
I recommend not flashing a custom recovery right away because when you install/download OTA updates it isn't able to flash it right. In the meantime if you want root[3] use this command:
adb install -s supersu.apk
When you're on the latest version you have to unlock your bootloader, otherwise you cannot flash a custom recovery or kernel or whatever. You can do this via HTC[4]. I think there are enough guides on how to do this, but in short:
- create an account with an legitimate email address
- Select "all other supported devices" from the list
- follow on screen instructions.
Seriously everything is on there, HTC made it really easy.
If you want to install a custom recovery I recommend using TWRP[5]. Please flash TWRP by booting into fastboot and running the following command:
fastboot flash recovery twrp_recovery.img
Troubleshooting
There isn't really a lot that can go wrong if you do this. But when you're stuck on a screen or you think your device is "bricked" or stuck in a bootloop do these things:
- First off, hold the power and volume down button till the device goes down. If it's down, release the buttons and then hold the same buttons again till you're in bootloader
If that doesn't work do either of these commands (make sure your device is connected via USB, hehe)
Make sure fastboot and/or adb is working first:
fastboot devices
adb devices
If fastboot is working:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
If ADB is working:
adb reboot bootloader
adb reboot recovery
If you have any questions, please ask me. I did a dozen of things these two days, I may forgotten something because I did a crapload of things all at once.
Cheers!
