Hey all,
I have a new HTC Evo that I installed Unrevoked 3 root program....no problems installing it.....So I downloaded and installer ROM manager and then ROM manger premium.....no problem there either, backed up the phone and everything seems to be good......tried to add Rom's in zip file from SD card and keep coming up with Abort errors.....clockwork is running fine to my knowledge...
read a few threads and add in Unrevoked forever....Installed with no problems....but I still can't get any Rom's to run properly with the abort errors.....
does the SD card file have to be a certain type of file name???? and thing would be a huge help.....I am pretty sure all the software is working good.......I just can't get this to work.....I have been test it with a few different ROM'S......AND STILL NO LUCK
Thanks in advance..........
i would check to see if the file didnt accidentaly got renamed with double .zip.zip at the end. also make sure there are no spaces in the name, redownload the rom with pc not rom manager, put it in the root of sd card, go into recovery manuallly, wipe and try to flash
so root of the SD card meaning not in another file.....just drag it over to the card itself in its own file??? I downloaded the ROM originally from this website....a few different ones and no luck....
yes all you do download then drag and drop to the sd card not inside any folder, do the wipes(if using clockwork recovery wipe data, cache and the go to advance and wipe dalvik cache also) then go to flash zip from sd card, look for your zip and select it wait then reboot, first time will take a while 5 to 10 minutes is reasonable, then once booted let it settle for a couple of minutes, go thru the setup process and reboot again to finish settling everything. make sure you have a full battery in case you run into any issues you dont want your phone dying while flashing anything
Do yourself a favor and get Amon Ra recovery and stop using ROM Manager.
Get amon RA 2.3 recovery and then start flashing roms via recovery instead of rom manager. To get to recovery u can one...power off phone and hold down volume down button and press power, two...after installing a custom rom and then hold power down and select reboot alot of the roms have the option to reboot into recovery, or three...download quickboot from market and use that to reboot into recovery. Once there u can wipe parts of ur phone and also flash roms and mods and u can put the roms or mods anywhere on ur SD card. Also don't forget to make a new nandroid and a single nandroid of ur wimax keys
Ok,
So I installed amon RA 2.3 recovery ....everything went fine, Now my screens are green instead of the orange like they were....my super user icon went from ninja to skull and crossbones....and I also downloaded quickboot from the market................ and made a nandroid backup
So I went in to recovery, selected the option for zip on SD card, selected file and looks like it went with no errors.....rebooted my phone and nothing.....the rom was for a green clock app......the phone just looks stock trim

Those mods can be tricky. Open the modded zip up on ur computer and see the name of the app. U can do the same thing with ur phone if u dl astro or file exployer or root exployer from the market. Go to system then apps and find that app and delete it. The try reflashing the mod via recovery. Uve done everything right its just some apps don't change for some reason
Also don't forget to wipe dalvik cache and cache before and after flashing something
The other thing is that some user made mods use the original framework.res which will change the way your phone is themed or how it "looks"
Golden rules:
1. Always do a nandroid backup before making big changes to your device.
2. Always wipe cache & dalvik manually from within recovery BEFORE flashing any mods.
3. Make sure the mod you are flashing is designed to be used with the particular rom you have installed. All mods are NOT compatible with all roms.
4. If you've screwed up and had not made a nandroid backup before screwing up, go into recovery, wipe EVERYTHING in the wipe menu EXCEPT the SD card and start over.

I rooted my EVO running stock Froyo last night with Unrevoked 3.2. It worked flawlessly and phone is experiencing no problems. Now i'm all excited to run the custom ROMS but kind of confused as how the flashing of the custom ROMS works. Do I have to wipe out the entire contents of my SD card everytime I want to run a custom ROM? I only have the 8gig card. I was under the assumption that I could save my current stock setup and download and flash into a custom ROM and revert back to the stock rooted setup when I wanted. I downloaded a program called ROM Manager v2.0.2.6 but unsure how to use it. Looks like a 1-click solution to loading custom ROMs but I dont want it to wipe out my phone. Can someone please help me to understand the steps to take to load a custom ROM? I was thinking of trying out Fresh or something similar which still has HTC Sense in it. Feel free to message me on here. Thanks in advance.....

No.
I'm not sure about using ROM manager, perhaps somebody else can help with that.
The process is simple...
Connect your EVO to your PC and enable disk drive.
Transfer the ROM zip to the root of your sd card (if your computer mounts as drive F: ... just transfer to F:\)
Eject/disable disk drive
Boot into recovery (turn device off, hold volume down and power button at same time until you see your hboot screen, choose recovery)
Perform a nandroid backup (just in case you need to get back to where you are)
Perform wipe
Use recovery option to flash zip from sdcard
Select the ROM zip
Those are the quick and dirty instructions, I'm a newb with this stuff, I've had my EVO for 2 weeks and I've not had a single problem. I had CM6 on it and I just flashed Fresh 3.2 to test that out and test 4G this weekend.
I would advise doing a Nandroid backup of your current setup. Then go the development section and choose a rom that suits you. Each developer normally will tell you how to go about flashing there rom.
Basically you would need to go into recovery and choose the flash from zip...
ok first no you dont have to erase your sd card every time you flash a rom.
you should however do a factory dalvik and cache wipe. this will erase all settings yuo previously had and will uninstall all apps.
to combat this you can use programs like Titanium back up to back up all your apps. (system settings are not recommended to be blind restored as they can cause issues between roms)
You can also make a back up of your stock rom you have now to do this through rom manager simply make sure you have the latest clockwork recovery flashed (very top button in rom manager) then go down to where it says back up rom click it and it will do the rest. This is recommended before you do anything.
once you ahve your nand back up (the back up through rom manager) and have your apps backed up through something like titanium back up. place the rom yuo want to flash on your sd card and follow these steps.
boot into recovery (either through rom manager or by powering down the phone and then holding vol down and power until it launches the boot loader and select recovery)
select wipe data/factory reset
select wipe cache partition
Select install zip from sd
select choose zip rom sd
scroll to and select the rom you moved to the sd card
select yes and let it do its thing once done select reboot phone.
It will take a little extra time the first time it boots up vs normal jsut let it sit and it should after a while boot into the custom rom.

Thanks everyone! I'm running titanium backup at the moment and backing up the entire system. I had ROM Manager do a backup of my stock ROM last night, so I think i'm good. ROM Manager also downloads ROMs for me and sets them to load at boot up. Most of the ROMS suggest doing a full wipe?
a full wipe jsut means factory/data cache and dalvik which is basically wiping all info on the phone itself. the sd card however doesnt need to be wiped
i installed baked1.7 and all loaded smoothly. I'm assuming I now have to re-download titanium backup to restore my apps and all?
Also, i'm finding no info on how to load the wimax update and the htc radio update files and the custom kernels for baked1.7

Load those updates onto the root of your sd card. Get quickboot from the market to easily boot into recovery mode. Or you can power off, then hold vol down while powering on to get into bootloader and select recovery. Flash zip file and select those files. Reboot and your wimax/radio should be updated.
Kinda noob question but can someone post screens on how to backup and restore a nadroid backup??
Thanks
Title meant to say: Backup not back
If you're not rooted then you can't do a Nandroid. When you use a custom recovery image like Clockwork Mod you have the option to do a backup (refered to as a 'Nandroid').
yea i know i am planning on rooting tonight just want to know how just incase anything goes wrong
Ah right!!
Once you've run unrEVOked it will install Clockwork Mod as your recovery image. In there is the backup and restore menu which is where you perform a 'nandroid'. It basically copies your system onto your SD card so you can revert back to it should a new ROM flash go wrong/not be to your liking...it's easy really!
Getting to Clockwork Mod is the same as getting into normal recovery - turn the phone on whilst holding down the volume down button, select 'Recovery' from the menu and there you go!
Or after getting clockwork mod on your phone you cab download an app called Rom manager this has a menu with options one is back up or restore your Rom.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Thanks, got another question, i would like to flash opendesire how would i now go about doing this ?? i am rooted now
Boot into Clockwork Mod, select 'install update from SD card' and choose to select from the SD card and select the OpenDesire ZIP file. You'll also have flash a radio that's compatible with the ROM (which is done the same way)
do i need to wipe data/factory reset??
Thanks
I'd say yes as you're going from a Sense ROM to non-Sense - better to be safe than sorry
and do i now click apply sdcard:update.zip or install zip from sdcard
Thanks!
Install zip from sdcard.
Highlight and select the zip containing whatever you want to flash (the ROM or the Radio)
I did do this a while back...

WoW!! All done now on OpenDesire Thanks guys When i partition my SD card to ext or whatever, does the cache and stuff go to my SD card automatically?
Thanks
help, stuck in bootloader/recovery

stock 2.2 3.29 rooted w/unrevolked.
any help is appreciated.
So I was looking into roms and I downloaded ROM manager 3.0.1.1. Thats when my trouble started. I did a back up with the rom manager and it wiped my old nandroid back ups and I was stuck in bootloader/recovery and couldn't restore my back up. I do an nandroid back up about once a month and they were all gone. I did back up my sd card in december and I had an old back up on it and I flashed it and it worked.
Tonight I tired to flash an older version of clockwork (like I had before) and I'm stuck at the bootloader/recovery again. I tried to restore an old nandroid and nothing seems to work.
I'm open to suggestions.
Should I try to flash a new rom and start over ?
any way to get my old customized rom back ? (I have the clockwork back ups)
thanks
are you able to boot a rom at all?
I haven't tried a different rom, but I cannot boot my current or older.
It can't load PM36IMG.zip, I tried loading one onto my card but it just aborts the installation. Is there a more current or older one one I need ?
that might be a problem. you sayed you were trying to put a PM36IMG.ZIP on but you need a PC36IMG.ZIP i believe if your on an evo. use amon-ra and and flash a new rom and see if it works. copy and paste this link into your url and it will start a download for amon-ra recovery. hope this works
http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=amon_ra/RECOVERY/&file=PC36IMG.zip
also don't try to flash a clockwork nandroid backup with amon-ra or vise versa. it will mess up your phone from what ive heard
I wonder if it does not like your sd. I am thinking try a different sd or see if you can format yours.
I also do not like ROM managers. They always seem to want an upgrade and then when you do the upgrade your old backups may or may not be compatible any more. To get your old file back you would probably have to run an unerase or some type of debug program on the sd card. erased files are not really erased they just have an F5 in front of them to tell the computer that the space is availible. If you have a backup on your compter or old SD I think you should be able to that.
I did check for errors on my SD card, nothing bad there.
I put a PC36IMG.zip on my SD and when I try to install the zip from my sd it says operation aborted.
I think my entire problem is the fact that I have clockworkMod recovery v3.0.0.5. I've read (after) that anything after 2.6 is not going to play nice with my evo.
I tried downloading a stock rooted rom and I cannot flash it. Anytime I boot the phone it stays on the HTC EVO white screen, I can hold down the - and power and I can go into HBOOT/fastboot/bootloader/recovery, then it cannot find the PC36DIAG.zip, and PC36ING, and a few others.
I really appreciate the help, keep it coming
edit: I'll try pulling everything off my card and formatting it...
card is fine.
I loaded a older clockwork recovery then tried to flash a different rom...
it started opening, installing, formatting, deleting, copying, then...
E: can't symlink/system/xbin/su
E:failure at line 76:
synlink/system/bin/su SYSTEM:xbin/su
installation aborted.
and when I restore a previous nand backup it appears to work then when I reboot the screen looks scrambled and freezes.
I'm tired
I'm starting to think a hard reset and starting over might be my only way out.
Your system can not root since it can not find /system/xbin/su su is not in bin
ln -T /system/xbin/su /system/bin/su would probably be the approach if you were running. Not sure if you could edit line 76 to change bin to xbin, copy a proper symbolic link or?
I looked in bin and there were many links to the tool box that appeared to be associated with error logging. With this in mind it seems to me that this link is part of the recovery/installation process.
I would try to correct the permissions.
I was able to do a hard reset and my phone booted up rooted still..so I restored my apps from Titanium Back up.
Right now I can shut my phone off, restart it, no problem. If I go into recovery, problem.
I need to get rid of clockwork asap, I've read about Amon_ra's recovery but I don't think I have enough knowledge yet on how to install. I've tried installing from a zip but I'm just not doing it right. I can go into folders on my phone (root explorer), should I just delete clockwork anywhere I find it ? I just don't want to go blindly deleting files, that would be dumb.
I need recovery back...this is scary
suggestions ?
I have been into Android modding since My G1 from day ONE, I bricked a friends G1 and had to swap internal stuff and fixed it so I have never had a problem I could not solve till now, Like the guy above I cannot boot into my ROM. I have running Myn's Roms since his(their) first release with ZERO problems until RLS5. I started getting random reboots so like any other time when this happened with anyone elses ROM I did the Recovery, Wipe Dalvic Cache, Wipe Cache reboot and that was that, However today my Evo would not stop rebooting every 5-10 minutes so I wiped from scratch even my sd card was wiped, then reflashed Myn's RLS5 got it to boot once and after finishing SETUP it was on for like 2 maybe 3 minutes and again REBOOT!!! this time staying on the white screen, So I pulled the battery and went to recovery and wiped dalvic and cache rebooted and from then on It does not get past the white screen, I can still get into Fastboot and Recovery but it DOES NOT boot into the ROM, I am now Flashing MYN'S Z 2.2 and praying it boots. Do you guys think VIRUSES are now affecting OUR EVO's????
I just need to get rid of clockwork and I'm still stuck on that...

ok, I just want to be clear.
First, I'm sorry if I'm noobish
next, I'm gonna put that PC36IMG on my SD card (just anywhere on the card) then go into the bootloader, choose apply update, then boot into recovery, then done, correct ?
side note, I've read around that it should be put on the root of the card, I don't have a root folder on the card, but there is one in the internal system file (found it in root explorer).
just want to clarify before I loose everything again.
You are correct, and the "root" of the sdcard means to just be on the sdcard, not inside any folders. Also don't extract the zip file.
solved.
you sir, are my hero.
you have solved my problem, I'm speechless and so freakin excited right now.
I sincerely thank you and owe you.

I'm confused a little by your post. Why not just restore from your nandroid backup? Or flash a different rom?
Are you saying that Titanium Backup failed to restore your apps? Cyanogenmod is not Sense, which came with your phone. TB cannot restore apps from Sense.
If you want Sense, use a Sense ROM like Myn's... or Sprint Lovers if you like stock.

Make sure you are rooted with S-OFF displayed in the bootloader. To do this, turn off your EVO. Now press the down volume button while also pressing the power button until your device starts. You will enter the bootloader screen. You should see either S-ON or S-OFF at the top. If it is S-ON, you need to re-root your device. if it is S-ON, you *should* be good to go. I suggest you start over and follow the below instructions to the letter.
I would redo EVERYTHING from scratch. EVERYTHING meaning the following:
1. Copy the contents of your SD card and place them on your PC/Mac or independent external hard drive.
2. (DISREGARD) Format and re-partition your SD card (Disregard)
3. Place only a newly downloaded rom zip that you plan to flash, amon RA recovery (zip or img), Radio, Wimax, PRI & NV updates on the root of your SD card. The files can be downloaded from the links below:
Odexed Stock Rom -- http://goo.gl/uFdtB
amon RA -- http://goo.gl/cgh5e
Radio Update -- http://goo.gl/PmfKu
PRI Update -- http://goo.gl/A3NE3
NV Update -- http://goo.gl/h8JYf
WiMax Update -- http://goo.gl/qFwCt
4. Shut down your EVO and then press & hold the volume down button while pressing the power button. When your EVO starts, you will be directed to the Hboot screen where amon RA zip file will be automatically detected and you will be prompted to install it. Follow the prompts to install. Installation will take less than 10 seconds to complete. Afterwards, reboot into recovery.
5. Go to the WIPE menu and wipe EVERYTHING except the SD card.
6. Go to the FLASH menu and flash rom but DO NOT REBOOT!
7. Flash the Radio update. You will see a screen with a device & green arrows. Be patient because you will appear to stall. BE PATIENT and DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY!!!!!!!!!!!After some time has passed, you will automatically be reboot into the recovery screen.
8. Flash the PRI. What I stated in #7 applies here, as well
9. Flash the NV. What I stated in #7 applies here, too.
10. Flash the WiMax. #7 applies here also.
11. Reboot. you WILL APPEAR TO HANG at the white HTC screen. Do not be alarmed. Be patient and DO NOT PULL THE BATTERY. After some time has passed, you will then see the rom's splash screen and appear to hang and afterwards, you will see your home screen.
12. After you've signed in with your Google credentials, go to menu-settings-System Updates and then select Update profile.
You should be good to go afterwards. Enjoy!...

Sorry for the absence. I had errands to run. Anyway, displaying S-OFF is a good thing. Now let's see if you can get into recovery. You mentioned Unrevoked, so I'm assuming Clockworkmod is your recovery. You also mentioned that you can't pull anything off the card. Can you get into recovery? If so, there should be a mount menu or MS-USB or something to that effect. Select it and your computer *should* recognize your SD Card. Give it a try.

No. Can you boot into either recovery or your homescreen? If so, you *should* be able to mount and format your SD card using your EVO 4G.

It is possible. I'm not a fan of ROM Manager. It is far too easy to do it manually from within recovery. Menu with the hat? I'm assuming that's Clockworkmod recovery. I highly recommend that you flash amon RA recovery. It'll only take mere seconds to flash and it will not interfere with your system. Try this...Turn off your device and take out the SD card briefly and then reinsert it. Boot up all the way to your homescreen. Afterwards, go to your file manager and see if you can see the contents of your card. If so, that is a good thing.

ive tried that 3 times and i got nothing...
I really recommend that you start over from scratch.
1. Flash amon RA recovery v2.3
2. After the recovery has been flashed, reboot into recovery, go to the WIPE menu and wipe EVERYTHING including the SD card.
3. Attach the device to your computer via USB, then from within recovery, go to the MS-USB menu and select it. A drive should appear on your computer's desktop or explorer window.
4. Copy the rom zip file you used to install the rom you were using to the SD card.
5. If you were using CyanogenMod, also copy the latest gapps zip to the SD card.
6. Unmount the SD card first from your computer and then from within recovery by clicking the power button on your device.
7. Go into the Flash menu and flash the rom. Do not reboot afterwards if you're going to also flash the gapps zip.
8. Aftervyoure done flashing your rom and gapps, if necessary, reboot your device.

It is possible thar your SD card is fried. Do you have a spare? Do you have a card reader or another device capable of reading the card? Anyway, if you deem the card to be ruined then purchase another one and then start over with a fresh install per the instructions from my recent reply.
Anyway, I've gotta go. I'll check back on you a little later.

I have Full Root to my phone and am trying to flash new roms. I have tried Rom Manager App and Recovery Boot Process and neither works. I get an error than zip file is bad. I have android Version 2.2
Software #3.70.651.1
When I use ROM Manager and Flash Clockwork Mod, It's says HTC Evo (CDMA). Does the CDMA version stop me from flashing Mods?
PLEASE HELP...
Don't use Rom Manager to flash. If you've tried flashing manually through recovery and you still get errors, try Amon Ra. You can flash it through Rom Manager. Go into Amon Ra, go ahead and do a nandroid backup as backups made with ClockworkMod won't work with Ra, then wipe and flash.
Also, what is the exact error you're getting? And no, CDMA has nothing to do with it.

I did a ROM Backup on ROM Manager. How do I do a Nandroid Backup? and How do I use Amon Ra? Sorry for being totally ignorant to these facts, but I am a complete newbie at this.
The new clockword can't flash certain roms because the scripting has changed. The best way to do it is going to be this way. Open up rom manager, scroll down to the bottom where it says "flash alternate recovery" then click the flash button for amon ra 2.3.. After the has completed reboot into recovery. (turn phone off then hold power and volume down, then select recovery) that will take you to amons recovery. Go to to the backup/restore menu (using the volume keys to navigate, and power button to press "enter" then click then perform a nandroid backup. I would select everything but android secure and sd-card ext. (they take up tons of space) then you will have succesfuly performed a backup of your current setup. I would get used to doing all your flashing through recovery, its much more stable. (recovery is the menu u were just in to perform the backup) Put the zip file of your rom you want to flash on the root of your sd card (not in a folder) Go back into recovery, enter the wipe menu, at least wipe data/factory reset, cache, and dalvik cache. Then go to install zip from sd card, select your rom zip, and click flash, it will then flash the rom for you. hope this helps

Before starting, try to have at least 50% battery and have the rom on the root of your SD card - not in any folders.
The backup you did in Rom Manager is the same as a nandroid backup. If you've already "flashed alternate recovery" in Rom Manager, then power the phone down. Hold down the volume down button and power button at the same time until the phone turns on to a white screen with skating Androids. This is the bootloader/hboot. Check the top and make sure it says ship s-off at the top (if it says s-on then you aren't fully rooted). Assuming you're s-off, use the volume buttons to move up/down the menu. Highlight the option that says "recovery", then press the power button to choose it. Your phone will show the white HTC Evo screen then boot to recovery. From there (using the volume and power buttons like you did before), choose backup/restore, then nandroid backup. Leave the first three options checked then do your backup. When that finishes, go ahead and backup your wimax. Go to the nandroid backup screen, uncheck the first three options with the power button, then check only wimax. Do the backup again. Then go to the wipe menu. Wipe everything in the list except the SD card. When that's finished, go back, then install zip from SD card. Choose zip from SD card, then use the volume up button to go all the way to the bottom. Highlight the rom you want to flash and press the power button. Confirm with the power button, then let it flash. Then reboot.

I really appreciate the help plainjane & jeffm922? Two last questions, hopefully. I am trying this just after rooting my phone about a week ago. I keep seeing things about radios and wimax and kernels, and gingerbread, and other stuff I never heard of...LOL. 1st Question, do I need to download a certain type of radio or wimax or kernels for certain roms??? and 2nd Question, with me only having Version 2.2,which I gues is Froyo, do I only have the capabilities to download Roms for Froyo or doest that change depending on what Rom I install? SORRY AGAIN FOR MY IGNORANCE ON THE MATTER, BUT I'll NEVER KNOW UNLESS I ASK.
THANKS In ADVANCE

Certain roms do require the latest radios, etc. If it does, there will be info in the directions for the rom (usually in the first couple posts). If you do need to flash a radio update, when you reboot from recovery you will see a black screen with an Android in a box or a phone with a down arrow... don't freak out and pull the battery - this screen is part of the radio update. Let it run and it will take you back to recovery when it's finished. If you do pull the battery, you will most likely brick your phone.
There are Gingerbread roms and Froyo roms - you can flash either. Just be sure to read all of the information given on the first page of the thread so you don't miss any info & always do a backup and you'll be fine.

OK tried flashing SNS v1.3.zip the exact way the instructions you gave me tell me to. It says same thing as it did when I used ROM Manager.
1. Finding update package...
2. Opening Update Package...
and then here it goes
3. Can't open /sdcard/SNS v1.3.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
What am I doing wrong or not doing at all? I downloaded this Rom off of the following thread [ROM]UPDATE!(4/28/11) SmoothnSexy V1.3, Gingerbread-ish looking Froyo/SENSE
from this site.
Also noticed this when doing fastboot PC36DIAG.zip
Is this correct?

Do you have Amon RA Recovery. Did you install it and when you hold the power and vol- button together, you get a white screen. At the top does it say S-OFF?
If so, then proceed to go to the recovery. If it is Amon RA, it will be green. If it is the latest version of clockwork (which you don't want to use), then, it's orange.
If it's green, then wipe cache, data, boot, system, dalvik cache, sd-ext (if you have it) and then flash your ROM.
ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP FIRST from whatever Recovery you are using. Clockword(orange lettering), does not support Edify scripting, only Amend. If you have Amon RA(green lettering), it supports both edify and amend scripting.
I did this but it says skipping Wipe od SDEXT...
Could this be the problem?
says skipping Wipe of SDEXT...
not
skipping Wipe od SDEXT...
Something else to take into consideration, your SD card may need to be re-formatted as well. Try this:
Once you have Amon-RA installed, and you are booted into it, then connect the phone to your computer via the USB cable. Navigate to USB-MS Toggle and activate it, you should now be able to copy everything from the card to your computer (re-partitioning will erase everything on the card).
After you have backed up, you can use the partition SDCard menu to repartition and reformat your card. Or you can use the Wipe menu to just format the SDCard - though I would re-partition it just to ensure the file system on the card is truly reset. If you do re-partition, use 0 for a swap (most ROMs don't use it), use anywhere from 0-500MB for the ext (this will be mostly used by app2sd, and not a requirement of the ROM, so it is optional), and the rest of your card size for the remainder (this will be partitioned as FAT32, I believe).
Once that process is complete, you can copy your ROM back over to the card (USB-MS toggle) and try again.
I had similar issues with MY Evo (using the SD card that came with it), re-partitioning it worked like a charm in clearing out all of the problems I had been experiencing. Good Luck!

That's not the problem. You are s-off correct? I've never heard of that rom, you got it from the Evo Development forums, right? Make sure it's compatible with your phone.
I've seen this problem before, so do a search and see what the solution was.
EDIT: Do what Big John said, that sounds like a likely culprit.

SDEXT is just the EXT partition on the SD card (if there is one, see my previous post). What you are seeing is recovery just telling you that this partition doesn't exist.
BigJohn
Get aman ra for sure then do it all thru recovery

I've had the same problem you are having and I'm about to try what everyone has suggested on your post. Question though... when you partition your SD does it delete everything on the SD card? And did you partition the SD before or after what everyone suggested? Thanks!
