So I use my Evo as my alarm clock. Often times when it goes off at 6am, I pick it up and hit snooze. Then it'll go off again in 10 mins or so, but when I pick it up, the alarm app is no longer showing to shut the damn thing off. I enter the clock app and there still isn't a place to shut it off.
I end up having to pop off the back and remove the battery...now so much for snoozing again, now I gotta get the hell up cause i'd oversleep due to no alarm set..Grrr!!!
What rom are you using? Is it Sense-based or AOSP? Are you using an AOSP alarm on a Sense-based rom?

This happened pretty often to me when I was running Myn's and Koni's rom. Only been on CM for a week so I'm not sure about an aosp rom yet.

Currently, I am running "Eternal Prophecy v5.8". Before that, I was running Myn RLS 5. It was happening there quite a bit. All Sense based
I felt your pain...
I had the same problem at first, but figured out that it was the lockscreen type that was causing the problem. The AOSP desk clock is only compatible with the Vanilla lockscreen, and the HTC World clock is only compatible with the HTC lockscreen. If you set your alarm in AOSP, but are using the HTC clock as your alarm (and vice versa), you will encounter this problem.
I personally love the HTC clock/alarm, because of all of the options available (stopwatch, timer, etc..) and am running Eternal Prophecy 5.9 which I love, so this is what I do: (Thanks to Dr. Ryder for guiding me through the process)
Before x-ferring the ROM to your SD, delete the Desk Clock apk from the ROM itself: "supersonic_signed_042711_090619.zip\system\app"
Then I add HtcLockScreen.apk, HtcClockWidget.apk, and WorldClock.apk (attached)to the same folder.
Once you flash the EP rom (or any other using the vanilla lockscreen as the default, really) you'll have only the HTC lock screen & Clock available.
On the other side, if you prefer the vanilla lockscreen, and desk clock, all you'd need to do is delete the WorldClock.apk from that very same folder, just to remove confusion.
This is all possible via RootExplorer, as well.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for this solution. I am reading this and first wondering how am I to do this via Root Explorer if you said do this before I transfer the rom zip to my SD card.
I still have the 5.8 zip on my SD card, so I just opened Root Explorer and browsed it. I find Deskclock.apk and when I long press it, all I get is a 'Extract' option.
I guess I am confused on how you delete and add to a zip file w/out extracting the whole thing and re-zipping.

Sorry, I wasn't clear.
Pre-ROM flash, you can delete/add apk's in the zip itself.
Post-ROM flash, you can use RootExplorer to delete the Desk Clock apk, and move the HTC apk's to the system/apps folder (I would assume a reboot would be in order, but I haven't tried it that way, only received instruction from Dr. Ryder). My understanding is that both methods will work the same, though again, I haven't tried the root explorer method myself.
Seeing as Dr. Ryder updates so often, I've made it a habit to delete/add before I flash.

ahh 2.1 thats why. 2.2 if you remove the lockscreen apk you just get a straight up vanilla lockscreen, no mod required. on 2.1 youre better off getting widgetlocker or something off the sort as a lockscreen replacement.
i have seen mentions of widgetlocker, i will get this app soon. thanks for the help
Wait. There is a file you need and then it'll work on 2.1 - I'll post as soon as I'm back at my computer.
Ok found it! Download this file and use recovery mode to apply it.

Although the above post will work to fix the lock screen, seeing as it's 2.1, the lock screen will have the option to unlock and science the phone, but not vibrate, as that is on the 2.2 only. Just an fyi

How do I remove the lockscreen apk? I am rooted using 2.5.2 skyraider. Can I delete the htc.lockscreen.apk from root explorer and if so where s it located? Will this work on skyraider?
Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk
I believe you can use root explorer, however I have not used that, I did it through adb. It is the htclockscreen.apk and .odex files. However, I would not remove them as you might want to put them back on at a later date. Use the mv command to either rename out something you will remember like htlockscreen.apk.bak, our move or to another directory. And it should be located under /system/apps.

has anyone got this working on froyo????? if so please help....i as well would kill for the rotary LS
Easy way is install unrevoked forever
Then use root explorer to rename
Htclockscreen.apk to .Bak.
Don't forget to reboot after you rename it.

A few things to note: this will not change the slider on the incoming call screen. Also, I've heard of issues silencing an alarm with the HTC lockscreen APK missing.
has anyone found a way to get this to work and NOT have problems with the alarm clock?
edit: i found my answer

This has been discussed many many times...but you will have to use the vanilla clock app to use the alarm. If you try to use wprldclock or setting worldclock through the sense widget you will have to do a battery pull to silence

I don't mean to bump this back up, but I'm running into an issue. I'm running SR 2.5.2 with s-off, and when I try to rename htclockscreen.apk to .bak it wont let because its read only. I can copy the fie elswhere but can delete the original. Using root explorer, thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks OP!
I'm running the new OTA Deodexed and for the life of me I can't get the vanilla clear lockscreen to work help por favor
Have you tried using Titanium Backup to uninstall HTC's lockscreen? Fresh Rom has a patch that deletes the HTC lockscreen and adds in the Android clock. Not sure how else you can do it on rooted OTA roms.
Coming from the Hero (I'm sure you remember what a pain it was to get the vanilla lock to render in portrait) I was astonished when, on my evo, I removed HtcLockScreen.apk from /system/app and rebooted and VOILA! Vanilla lock works natively on 2.2 on the EVO, you just need to get HTC's slide down lock out of the way first.
I made this real quick-like. It worked for me on 3.28. Flash through recovery. Always nandroid backup.
I did delete htc lockscreen .... Just gets stuck in a boot loop .... Should I delete lockscreen with the zip above?

The zip above deletes the HTCLockscreen.apk for you. It also adds in the Vanilla apps like Desk Clock, Music, and 3D Gallery. What ROM are you on?

For my stock-ROM Evo, I want to be able to disable the HTC slide-down lock and use the pattern lock.
Can I simply delete the .apk (presuming I need root for this) and the AOSP/Android screen lock will just show up?
Thanks.
Hey,
is there
any possibility to change bootanimation via root explorer? I wanted to put it in sysetem/media but there was a notice that I have no permissions for that.
I also wanted to use SDK Manager but when I installed it the Manager doesn't run. Just pops up the black window and immediately closes up.
Any suggestion for a dummy like me?
It's possible and very easy. You need to go into Root Manager's setting and allow it to have R/O access. Once that's done you can then navigate to /Data/local and place your bootanimation.zip in there.
Ok, thanks. I'll check it out.
And I was wondering with one more thing. If HTC app "People" can be used e.g. in CM7 ROM. I noticed several times that the answer was "no" in the forum. But, there is now possibility to backup it in Sense ROM with Titanium and then restore it on CM7 ROM?
Thanks
I have no idea about that. I've always known Sense based apps to need Sense UI to run.
Still no, no sense apps on aosp roms.

The reason why I ask is that I managed to backup News & Weather app from Sense and then restore it on CM7 and it works! but I do not have People app to try it out and I very miss this great app.
News and weather app is a android app not Sense. And it's included in CM7 anyway. Answer is still NO.
I am on the stock rom, rooted recently. I am using the stock alarm and when the alarm goes off, I see the default android unlock screen and once I unlock, there is no way to dismiss or snooze the alarm. I could do anything on the phone (e.g. turn it silent) but nothing short of a reboot would make the sound go. I have removed the HTC lock screen, could that be the cause of this or was it because of removing something else. I think I went according to one of the threads where while removing stuff, but I have certainly messed up somehow.

Yeah, that is your problem. Removing the lockscreen and still using HTC's clock app causes this issue. I'm not sure where it is, but there is a thread that has these mods in them that would remove the HTC Lock Screen and replace the clock to the AOSP clock. If you don't feel like doing that, just get a different alarm app from the Market. If you want something different, Gentle Alarm is pretty cool
I found the mod, but since I have already removed the Lockscreen (and now the HTC Clock as well), if someone can point me to the apk for the stock ASOP clock that works with EVO, that would be great. I've been trying to search it but haven't been able to find an apk that works with EVO. (I extracted the apk in that mod, but it did not install).

Moved it to the /system/apps folder, changed the file permission to 777 and restarted the phone. No luck.
Ignore that, another restart and it works. Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough or maybe it needed a reboot. Thanks guys.
Ok. So I have been reading a lot around many different Forums about the Voicemail Notifications and it also sending an SMS Notification. Seems the quick fix is the obvious which is installing another SMS Agent and deleting the Stock. Problem is is that to me that is like having the check engine light on in your car and just putting black tape over the light or pulling the bulb. yes it hides the notification but still leaves it broken. My question is What files handle the voicemail? Since all custom roms do not have this problem it seems there is a fix somewhere.
Another question is how can there be a rom with no SystemUI.apk? I flashed Elite Rom and I have searched through every file and folder with Root Explorer,Rom Toolbox,ESFile Explorer and Astro File Manager and yet to find the first thing that even as much as says systemUI.
What Rom are you running? Does the voicemail thing happen on Elite Rom? Just block the sms text that it sends you. As for systemui.apk its in system/app, and if its not there try looking in data/sysapp or something similar

At the moment I am running Energy Rom. No it doesn't happen on Stock whether odex or not. Doesn't happen on Elite or a few others either. It happens on nearly all ICS or JB Roms and anything with the newer versions of Sense built in.
As for the other I have looked those locations many, many times. What got me to looking is I do not like the Status Bar and it doesn't have screen capture. I tried to just flash both but no go so I decided to just change the systemui.apk file to one that does work. If your interest is now peeked I would say download and unzip the Rom and search for yourself. There isn't a file or folder I can find that I haven't checked. Also flashed it and checked via root to see if it was a file that I would only find once flashed. Haven't located it in 2 days looking but the Rom does work except I can't change the ui to something else.

SystemUI.apk is right here (see attachment)
Its in /system/app.
As for the ics thing, i cant help you there because i never run those.
Thanks for the screenie but it is Elite Rom with no SystemUI.apk but after much travel through Google Search the best I can figure is that the version used for the Rom doesn't have this file. I read somewhere that 2.1 and before didn't use the file which is what this Rom was based off.
As for the voicemail coming in SMS I found 2 different fixes but 1 doesn't work for me and the other I do not know how to do. First is an SMS to 9999 saying Block 9016. Got a reply saying blocked but the very next message also sent an SMS. Not sure if it is just my phone or no so......The other is to replace the Phone.apk in system/app with one from a rom which doesn't have this problem. I tried many different Roms using Root Explorer to copy/paste the file and recovery to fix permissions but always came up with stopping unexpectedly errors. I did do the wipe cache/davlik also. Is there another step to this process I am overlooking? This SMS 9016 is what is causing me to not use a ICS Rom that is really awesome otherwise. I really don't want to install the bloated GoSMS or HandscentSMS.
