I tested it out. It depends on what you are looking for. Would you pay 200 bucks to add a keyboard and screen to your phone? Other than firefox its just your phone with a big screen and keyboard. I have a xoom and keyboard so couldnt justify the purchase.
I will say though that the build quality is freaking amazing!

I've got the works, HDMI Dock, Laptop Dock, Car Dock, and Standard Dock... I use the laptop dock more than anything. Works better than any NetBook I had I use it mainly on WiFi, because otherwise it is a bit sluggish on the net. I also use remote desktop which works flawless on a WiFi signal.. I dont have any complaints and my wife likes the home dock for surfing the web on out HD TV... The cost is by far the only objection I have... However, I am glad I spent the money.
if it cost $150 or below then yes, at current price of 300+ NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I just got one from ATT.com for $299 with $100 VISA card rebate. Free 2 day shipping.
Total out the door, $220.

Except for the stuck pixel I have in the upper right corner, I agree completely.
Finally got mine (for 300+), and have to say it is worth it. It is razor thin, makes it great for traveling! Battery life is good, and build quality is fantastic. Performance is what I had hoped for - nothing earth shattering, but as good as any netbook.
On the downside, it is basically just a browser (Firefox 3.6) on a customized Ubuntu build, plus of course accessing the phone on a bigger screen as noted.
I keep thinking about it. Nice luxury extra that I would pay $ 100 for but not more. Instead I have the webtop hack and bought a $ 40 bluetooth keyboard. Works perfectly well. In fact its excellent especially BECAUSE it only cost me $ 40 and I beat the system!

It is definitely worth it! The only problem in my opinion would be getting 3g capabilities without the tethering plan. I took it with me on my trip to india last week, and got a bunch of things done while in airports and under a wifi connection. Other than that, it's a great media player for road trips.

It really is a very well made dock. I'm just wondering if it's smart to just leave it suctioned to the window or if I can remove it from time to time.
Once I found where I wanted it, I just leave mine up all the time. I haven't had it fall yet.

I used a hockey puck in the center dash cup holder. The dock sticks to the hockey puck perfectly...just a thought for those who want the dock without putting on the windshield of their car.
I got mine at new egg for 35 with the charger, at least 15 dollars less than verizon in the bundle.
Not sure if you need one with power, but for 20 bucks the slip grip for the X on ebay is damn sturdy if you ask me.
I would recommend it
If i didnt have to take off my case, it would be perfect...
I just got mine last night and so far I'm very impressed. I just wish it came with a charging cable so I don't have to buy yet another data cable

I just ordered one that slips into the cd slot of my car radio. I'll let you know how it works out...
Love this cd insert mount! Works really well and half the price of the verizon one.
Do you have a link to the cd insert mount? Sounds like it might be perfect for me.
Got mine on tuesday and it works like a charm. I use mine with my jabra sp700 to utilize the fm tuner because my car has a stock am/fm radio. It works flawlessly with google's voice app and still trying to get it to work with vlingo. But the dock is awesome!! By the way, its the verizon moto dock.

Hello Everyone - In my effort to somehow give back to the XDA Community somehow (since developing is outta my league) I figured I would try and do a review of an FM Transmitter I bought from Walmart. I made a thread about a week ago, and recieved some good options but this is what I decided to settle on.
Brand: Scosche FM Transmitter
Model: FMT4R
Price at Store: $12
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Scosche-FM-Transmitter/14666784
I will start off by saying WOW! I am quite surprised of how clear the sound was. You can easily choose from 14 different transmitting frequencies but upon installation using 88.3 FM worked great. I was warned about the clarity and told not to set my expectations to high, but this little unit sounds great. While searching another forum, a member recommended FM Transmitters that use batteries to power the unit and not the cig lighter. This transmitter uses 2 AAA batteries (not included of course) and I couldn't be happier.
If you are looking for an inexpensive way to play music through you're car speakers, this should work great for you
Overall Rating: 9 / 10
What phone mount are you using also?
Do you have some bigger pictures?
Scratch this sentence, missed the battery part. Not to be a downer, am only curious. I have yet to find a perfect one and people will suggest but others wont agree its crazy. Is this a Walmart only thing too? I should look around as you'd have to murder me and drag me in in order for me to "set foot" inside a Walmart. Less than 15 and that good? :suspiciouseyes
I need something that is as good as plugging in to the tape deck and have yet to find one. Gonna look but I've heard of battery powered ones that are no better. Maybe for 15 I can send someone out to hunt it down, but it'd still be a "contribution" to a cause I wish not contribute to. LOL Thanks though I need a more solid offering so some looking in order.

Just some cheap ebay mount I had laying around.
How long do the batteries last? Every one of these I've ever tried before had a lot of distortion. Not so with this one? i can't see why battery current would be superior to charger current?
Batteries haven't ran out and im going on 4 days of moderate use. Clearity is good. Its only 12 bucks, buy one and let me know what you think.
You'll never get as good a quality as a direct connection.. Sure, there's ways around the signal issue of FM transmitters.. Such as unplugging or removing your antenna all together, this cuts down on all the interference of outside sources, like normal FM signals, trying to overpower the FM transmitters signal.. I say if you've gone this long, without really needing to play your Evo through your radio, than save your money, and order an aftermarket cd player from Crutchfield.. They often have specials where you get everything you need to install a cd player, for free.. That includes wiring harnesses and the mounting kits.. I just got a Clarion CZ100 from them for $83, and that was with the 2-day shipping.. Really not a bad price..
I've bought it while on a trip from Indiana to North Carolina. It worked great. I got about 12 continuous hours straight of playback with little to no distortion.
On another note, I wonder if it's possible to mod it to run off a cigarette lighter adapter. I know that it would have to be changed from 12 volts to 3 volts. If I can find some plans on building it, I would.

All I have to say is WOW!!!! Thank u SO much for bringing this to my attention. This thing sounds amazing. It honestly sounds like im listening to a cd. Crystal clear, very loud. I've used other fm transmitters before, nothing top of the line but quite a bit more expensive than this one and this one tops them all. Best twelve dollars I've ever spent. I would recommend this to anyone. What do u have to loose. I promise, u wont be disappointed. Thanks again.

Also, for those that want one that plugs into the cigarette lighter outlet Wally World has it for $30. It comes with a remote as well.

By the way I bought this same transmitter for someone as a cheap christmas gift. Haven't heard back from them as to how they like it. I believe it was $11 at my local walmart. Also, its not in the electronics section, its in the car parts section, right next to the guns actually, haha.

I am using PowerAmp Media Player. It allow you to choose indiviual folders to play music from and is by far in my opinion the best player.
OK, maybe I am just too geeked about this phone, but I figured we should put a wish list up for those of us that cannot stop drooling over this device.
I know the Atrix has a decent size battery, but I am often without a charger and the more juice I have is the better. SO...
I wish Mophie would make a Juice Pack case for the Atrix 4G. They make some of the best extended battery cases for iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad I have ever used. The quality and extra battery life they have brought my iPhones has been unparalleled by anything else I have ever used. It would be sweet to have something like this for the Atrix.
A battery pack would be awesome; I can't really think of anything better though.

and a cheaper multimedia dock (aka just a $20 charging station /w USB hub and hdmi adapter).
Coming from an old Tilt with hardware keyboard, I'd also like to see a portable mini-keyboard to connect to the Atrix - wired or wireless. Something like the foldable iGo Stowaway Keyboard would be nice, but that one appears to be discontinued.
Really what would be ideal would be some sort of usb-like add-on that clips onto the phone and gives it an optional phone-sized keyboard for those times that it's useful - and can be left in a bag otherwise.
I sometimes take notes on my phone, and I don't see touch-screen tapping being as convenient as a physical keyboard (even if it's miniature). The laptop dock is a neat idea ... but even if it wasn't overpriced, all you really need is a tiny keyboard to take notes, which is a lot easier to carry around than a full-sized (pseudo) laptop for times you don't expect to need it.
I'd like to see a better battery an a Bluetooth keyboard case - similar to the Keyboard Buddy for the iPhone.
a game controller like the ones they have for the iphone
The accessory I am most looking forward to for the HTC Thunderbolt is the multimedia dock.
I love my desktop dock for the Nexus One and will definitely be getting the multimedia dock when it is released.
Does anyone know the timeline for release for the dock?
I will believe it exists when I see it. IIRC, there was supposed to be a dock for the incredible too. No links for sale at VZW, Amazon, or Best Buy. With the usb on the side, this is a much needed accessory and is keeping me on the sidelines. Oh, that and root/S-OFF. And it appears the battery life is still an issue. My incredible gets me through the day, but was about 4-6 hours when it was new/stock. Hopefully the thunderbolt will only get better.

Its listed in the accessories section of the Verizon website. Well, it was listed on my corporate discount page anyway.
Not seeing it on vzw.com in accessories or via search.
Search for: thunderbolt dock
No results found for your search.
Can anyone post a screen shot of it from their corporate purchasing site? This phone has been coming soon for months, so it really doesn't make much sense not to sell the dock on the release date.

when I got the og droid they had combo pack with car dock and mutimedia dock all for 50 bucks hope they do that with the thunderbolt
Doubt that will happen considering the price for the Dock by itself is more than $50.
I got the car dock for free along with one of those double cases, screen protectors and cleaning wipes, and a car charger when I got my TB..
bought a dock for my og droid and barely used it tho...never used the car mount either. wont be getting a dock for the TB..

I'm wondering about the connectivity options for this Multimedia Dock - can it provide a TV out connection for example?
It's not easy to find out and I have tried to search high and low to find something about the connectivity - the name Dock implies that it also offers the possibility to hook it up to an external stereo or TV set etc.
It would be greatly appreciated if someone has a link to more information about this product.
That would be great

So upon researching dock options, I see that the official dock is in the works, with a MSRP US of 50 dollars:

Also I think the new Nexus 7 doesn't have Pogo-pins? I don't have mine around me to confirm.
That's the old Nexus 7 dock
The date on that article is for July 31st, but back in 2012. It must be referring to the old Nexus 7.. the clue was the mention of a 3-pin connector on the side.
Right, so edited the OP to accommodate my terrible ability to read dates.
It looks like there are barely any options currently for a dock of sorts.
There is the incipio stand here:
http://www.shopandroid.com/incipio-fixie-universal-tablet-stand/6A39A12239.htm
There are a couple of Qi charging stands as well:
http://www.androidpolice.com/tags/qi-charging-stand/
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/qi-wireless-charging-pad-and-stand-p38173.htm
But again, this doesn't allow data transfer. It would be nice to place the N7 in a dock that is constantly connected to my desktop or by my bed for an alarm function.
The QI charging stand will take care of the second need, but data transfer would be nice as well. I'm very surprised we don't have docking pins.
I'm assuming being able to charge the device isn't a necessity, since you linked to the Incipio stand. I actually bought a black plastic stand at my local TJMaxx(or Ross, or Marshalls. One of those, lol) for only $4.99 or $5.99. I bought it for my Asus Infinity (10.1" tablet), and it works great in both landscape and portrait! Since getting my '13 N7 a few days ago, I've put it in the dock in both landscape and portrait as well. It also works great in either position! I've had my Note 2 in it, and even my Evo LTE before . Though, some of the display is blocked when either my Note 2 or Evo LTE is in this dock/stand. Just stating how versatile it is by being able to hold my 10.1" tablet, 7" tablet, 5.5" phone, and even 4.7" phone, all with perfect stability! If interested, you might want to check online for something similar. Knowing how well it works and how discreet it really is, I wish I would have bought at least 3 of these when the store had them in stock!
I'm gonna put some pics of the stand in the following post. Also pics of my Infinity an '13 N7 in both portrait and landscape position.

Microcenter has those for $6.99.
Another cheap option would be small photo easels. Foldable and prop your tablet up for useability anywhere in the house. They are often available at the dollar stores, so you really can't beat the price.
Microcenter has a nice-looking metal stand that raises the tablet if you want to use it as a secondary monitor.
None of these are docks, of course, but the design of the Cygnett stand would keep the charging cord out of the way.

I wonder if there will be an Official dock that lets you:
1. Charge
2. Expand TV HDMI out
3. USB port for Hard drive access
I really want the Nexus & FHD to be a Home entertainment player...may be a remote/ Or Kinect like gesture control app built in with the dock
Hope this comes true...it will be the best Combo for a home unit!

It is pretty lightweight! It's hollow inside though, so you could easily add some weight to it! It hasn't been an issue for me in the few months that I've had it. My Asus Infinity is a pretty big device, but this stand handles that tablet just fine. Here's a picture of the bottom of the stand showing that it's hollow, but still has plenty of unused space inside of it to add your own weights to it if you wanted.

I completely agree with you with an official Asus/N7 dock!! Charger is a must (obviously), an HDMI port would be great, at least 1 USB port, and a 3.5 auxiliary jack for audio!! If they would release an official dock with all of these features, then I would not think twice about buying it(assuming it's less than $100, should be around $50)!!!! Even without the HDMI port, as long as the other 3 are included then I would buy it! ChromeCast is going to be a pretty common household item for all Android users, especially given the low price point! That said, an HDMI port isn't a feature that I would choose over an auxiliary audio jack! Sure I could just stream music to my home theater system using ChromeCast, but I also have smaller speaker systems that I'd like to be able to use without connecting via bluetooth(Jawbone Big Jambox for example), and they won't be nearly as loud as my home theater for when I'm not trying to have everyone in the house listen to the same thing as I am!!
Also, my Asus Infinity has a mini HDMI port built in to the side of the tablet. I mainly use it for gaming anyway, but especially when I'm wanting to play on my flat screen TV!! Just so easy with the Sixaxis app, a PS3 controller, an having the HDMI port right on the tablet! I have an HDMI - mini HDMI cable hooked to my TV at all times. Basically, I said all of that just to say that this is probably the main reason that an HDMI port on the official dock isn't really that important to me, and why I'd prefer the 3.5mm jack over the HDMI port. That's IF I couldn't have both anyway!

have you seen the Tylt Vu? thats $100.
But this really isnt that pricy imo...I'd much rather pay $50 to have an elegant dock / stand that will charge in portrait AND landscape than buy a $30 pad that you have to lay the tablet down on and thus lose the functionality of it. Plus it wont slide off on this.
Putting a nice dock with a qi charger warrants another $20 to me.
