Hi there!
I recently flashed the new 1.1.14 miui rom ( first time, used leedroid before ) and all works just fine despite the auto brightness.
If I enable it, the display will just use minimum light output and sometimes begins to flicker!
This is really a bummer because miui in general is actually pretty awesome.
So, is there any way I can fix this?
I would be really thankful if you could help me out!
regards
EDIT: Is it possible that is has something to do with the radio/ baseband version?
I use 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Is this one up to date or would recommend a different one?
Up.
Which is the recommended Radio for miui?

I have tried a couple of the ROMs based on the Gingerbread/Sense leak and I'm one of those poor souls that has the 100% brightness problem. Is there one that has this fixed? Or do we just have to wait for a working leak?
I'm not willing to sacrifice the camera for the working brightness (kernel flash workaround).
I am in the same boat you are in. You can try programs like screen filter (puts a dark shade over everything, doesn't increase battery life or dim backlight) or the latest beta of Juice Defender Ultimate (which seems to actually dim the backlight, but is sporadic as it uses the light sensor to determine when to dim, which doesn't seem to work on my hw0004 Evo)
I need my camera for work (I'm in retail and use barcode scanner and the Best Buy app with almost every customer) so I can't use the kernel flash method either. I used Juice Defender for a while, but then eventually went back to using other roms. I like the Virus Inspire port because it uses sense 2.1, but is based off from froyo.
I actually just installed CM 7.0.2 stable last night and have been enjoying that as well.
Hi,
I'm running the Virtuous Unity 2.3.9.0 ROM on my Desire HD. So appreciate this question would be better placed in that ROM's own thread but the forum won't let me post there yet.
Please can someone tell me why when I use any app or widget (with exactly two exceptions) to lower (decrease) the brightness, the brightness dims slowly, taking a few seconds to be lowered to the requested value?
Those two exceptions are:
The built in Power Control widget (not HTC's brightness widget(s) which are affected by the issue); and
- The Quick Settings brightness slider.
The problem doesn't occur when increasing the brightness.
I want to use my preferred apps and widgets to be able to alter the brightness without having to wait. I don't like auto-brightness.
So unless I use those two exceptions, which aren't convenient for me, I have to wait a few seconds to see if the amount I've lowered the brightness to is okay or still too low or high. This is annoying. For example, this problem occurs using any other brightness widget, such as the HTC Sense one or third party ones; or using an app with user-adjustable brightness control built in, such as the e-reader Moon+ Reader.
I've worked out this happens whether I use the Sense launcher or my preferred launcher, Launcher Pro. I've tried reinstalling the ROM from a full system and cache wipe too but to no avail. The problem seems to occur whether auto-brightness is on or off.
Will be sure to thank any responses. And thanks in advance too!
I use an app called MySettings to control brightness. Works well on ARHD and LeeDrOiD although never tried Virtuous.

Thanks CitizenLee, but unfortunately it has the same issue. So it does appear to be either a bug or 'feature' with this version of the ROM. I wonder if anyone knows of a way to patch it somehow?
Hi folks,
Hope it's okay to bump this as the issue in my initial post is driving me nuts. Please can someone help?
The issue was solved by me by moving from the Virtuous Unity ROM to the Android Revolution HD 6 ROM.
However, I have the issue with my girlfriend's HTC Desire S. It seems that whatever customer ROM we flash (we've tried several) the issue remains. The fact the issue was resolved for my HTC Desire HD by switching ROMS suggests this is something to do with kernels, not phones or widgets.
I've Googled like you wouldn't believe, and can't believe we're the only people that find it annoying and unproductive that you get slow brightness reaction when using a brightness widget or in an app.
Any thoughts? I'm happy to pay a fiver (pounds!) to anyone who can solve this for her Desire S in a way that means she can continue to use a good customer ROM!
Regards
Bump away As long as they are 24 hours apart I have no problem with it.
I've never come across this before. I don't use Sense based ROMs so I'm probably not best suited to answer this, but....
Have you tried the app Tasker? I'm pretty sure that you can change the brightness and assign that to a widget. Not sure it that will still be "delayed" as such.
EDIT: Yes you can make a widget that instantly changes the brightness, there is a toggle under "Display Brightness" called "Immediate Effect" and with this on there isn't the 1-2 second delay. This is on CM7 so your use may vary on HTC Sense.
Also if you buy Tasker direct from the devs, not from the Market you get a 7 day trial. Give it a shot! -->http://tasker.dinglisch.net/
I sometimes need to use my flashlight for hours. When I was on Gummy 4.4.2, the flashlight toggle in the notification panel (I guess it used the torch app?) would work great and not eat up my batter quickly. It actually lasted the hours I needed it to. So now I flashed a TW 4.3 ROM and I tried the torch app and tiny flash light app but both of them killed my battery wayy to quick. I'm talking about in less than an hour compared to the 3~4 hours I was getting on 4.4.
Anyone have any suggetions? I doubt anyone uses the flashlight as much as I do to have tested it enough but maybe someone has a tip or trick for lowering battery consumption while using the flash?

Hi, I'm the developer of Tiny Flashlight.
There are different ways to start the light on different android devices / OS versions. For example, the standard way on most new devices is to initialize the camera hardware in torch mode. This causes a lot of overhead and your battery drains faster.
Also, there are other non-standard ways to start the light, but they work only on a specific device (if possible at all). On HTC (non-google-play edition) Tiny Flashlight uses a private API, which doesn't involve the camera hardware. This way your device will run for longer.
The problem with most private APIs is that they require root and my change / get removed with software updates or ROM installations. This makes it very hard to support them. Right now I'm running the beta test of Tiny Flashlight v5.0, which is rewritten from scratch. Probably, this is the most optimized flashlight app you will find. If you are interested you can test it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2560625

Google Now
Is Google Now working? I tried to use it and didn't work. My GNex starts to go on a "loop" with the error in google search.

Now i'm having problem with the process "com.android.systemui" it´s always showing that was interrupted
Backlight occasionally off
Sometimes, when I wake the device, the backlight is off. Changing the brightness setting will get the backlight to turn on, but this is only really possible to do in a well lit area so I can see the screen without the backlight being on. If this a bug or am I being stupid with something.
Using standard kernel and haven't played with the brightness meter settings.
Came here from LiquidSmooth
I'm using LS 3.1 with the Dirty-V kernel and 1350 MHz overclocked CPU, it's a very fast/smooth ROM but it takes too much RAM... GNL is often killed and I've a max of 4 average sized apps at once.
What do you advice me ? Is the Beta stable enough as a daily setup ?
Also I had lot of issues with PA GApps by the past, I'd like to know if it's OK to use Slim GApps with this ROM
Thanks in advance
Just wanted to say that the beta version on my vzw galaxy nexus has been running great since Saturday! Only one freeze, but everything I've tried (except stock camera, as noted) works great! Had to install the older Netflix apk and zoom fx but WiFi tether, gmail, NFL mobile streaming live games and red zone yesterday works with no problems. Its very smooth too!! Data and cache on f2f and dalvick, not art as suggested.....
Quandrant standard was a 3965. I don't really pay much attention to benchmarks but I thought I would run it and post results but I can't seem to load the screenshot? Ha
Certainly planning to run this as my daily and really happy too!!
Thank you for your hard work guys!!
Edit: has anyone running the beta version messed with force GPU rendering and/or disable HW overlays to see how the GPU drivers respond?
No baseband
I can also confirm that after upgrade to 15.10.2014 there is no network.
Baseband version: Unknown
mobile data not enable
i flashedd this rom..but my mobile data is no service..sorry my bad english..
It works with flashing the older boot.img from 08.10.2014
After flashing the boot.img from the 08.10.2014 rom image, now I have mobile network on 15.10.2014 image.
No service
I have installed just the rom and i dont have service, did i do something wrong ..
can you say me what i have to do "step-by-step"

The only problem that I have encountered with omnirom is the inability to use a USB stick with the otg dongle. I believe I read somewhere that it is an unresolved issue with the ROM. Does anyone have any additional info on this? Also, has anyone found a workaround solution to this issue? Thanks.
LCD density?
I'm taking the "stable" version of this ROM for a spin now, and I like it very much. The only thing I miss is the LCD density setting that some ROMs have (slimkat, c-rom). Did I miss this somewhere in the settings? Setting the font to small is the closest thing I found.
thanks for that
Google Camera
Google Camera 2.4.023 appears to fix the camera crash on 20141015 beta. It seem to be working just fine, for me at least. Is it the same for everyone else?
Installed FML yesterday, the only problem I have is this:
pictures will not load. neither on gallery, nor on wallpaper selection or third party apps like QuickPic. The image files are definetily there (can see them through my pc) but the phone cannot load them. Tried clearing the data on Media manager, cleared cache/dalvik cache but nothing yet. What's the issue here?
volume wake
Hello
thanks for the rom and can you put volume to wake device because my power botton is broken.
thanks
Thanks for the fast and smooth ROM. I'd like to put a request for a kernel update that allows color settings (color balance, gamma and contrast) to be changed, as the Galaxy Nexus screen is notoriously poorly calibrated. Trickster mod and other kernel tweakers expose these settings with most kernels but not here.
I read at the main thread. I've bootloop to. I did the right instructions, but it doesn't work. TWRP 2.8.1.0, latest version of bootloader
Beta KitKat
Is the KitKat ROM Beta stable enough ?
I've read about too many issues (screenshot, camera, ...)
Thanks
