and more!!
jsut try it
Myt4g runs at 4-5mb In orlando FL, with latest radio
hope it helped

so what happens when you leave the 3g/4g area or go to an area where there is only edge? do you just lose data all together? i would rather have edge than have no data at all

it will connect to edge and G etc.

Beat me to it. +1

What's our latest radio?

My phone was set to this when I tried to change it. I get 5-6mb. Good tip nonetheless.

Nice! Make sure to hit the back button instead of home or it won't save the changes.

Isn't this just setting 3g only from the power widgets menu in cm7? I Dont even bother with 2g anymore since I live in the city. i barely run out 3g signal where I live so it's not that bad

I can not select WCDMA Only, it will not select it. I can select WCDMA Preferred. Is that just as good?
Also, when I do select WCDMA Preferred, if I hit the back key it sets back to GSM only. If I hit the home button after I select WCDMA only it is still on WCDMA only if I check again, but when I reboot and check once again it is on GSM only. I can not seem to get this to stick.

Thanks for the tip, will give it a try

It won't work if your on WiFi. Gotta be on t-mobile network.

u using a rom?

Just wondering, does this do anything different than selecting wcdma only in under networks in settings?

It my area with the radio ending in. 30 I get 7.6 down and 2.226 up on the speedtest

yeah just an FYI...all this is doing is only allowing your device to stay locked to wCDMA...thats it its not in any way enhancing your speeds or signal. Your phones does this automatically anyway except if you do this, now you wont have signal anywhere there is no wCDMA signal, but there is GSM. So technically this isnt any type of signal enhancement, if anything its actually worse for signal and youll have more dropped calls because your device wont be able to toggle to GSM if it needs to

so what should we have it set on?

4G force app

Icant seem to find a way to force my g2 to stay in "4g"
Ihave full conection it just keeps bouncing back and fourth
Between 3g and 4g .. any help?
I dont know but all the roms do that and it does that to save battery, if it stays in 3G it means its just saving battery but when you go to an app that requires the web it goes to 4G for fasters speed.
So basicly devs made it like that to make your phone save battery.
My guess, dont quote me on that.

It switches whilst iam using the browser
And ialways get page load fails
Its switching as itype this
And when iuse my tether it still switches ..its rather annoying
What I did was download the app any cut and make a shortcut to the phone info setting. Once in there just switch from wcdma perferred to wcdma only and that should do it

it will work until you negotiate a new tower, iirc.
Same

That happened fo me too. But I was getting the speed without the icon...it was only when it switchdd that it would f up. I just switchdd radios and downloaded the 4g app pack and it helpdd but didnt fix (only happendd with a couple roms) and on other roms it will say 4g but its a 3g speed...and that ciuld just be the nature of the beast...
Can't believe no one else in the know has commented on this. You c ant force it. PERIOD. That is not how hspa works. The phone plays a small part in the switch but MOST of it is up to the towers discretion. The tower switches you to hspa when the data throughput warrants it. This is a fact not just some crackpot theory. Save your time!
Lol to the person who said devs made it that way. Not making fun just laughing

making the 3G work on att

I am not sure if this is the right place to have this but I have a tmob s3 that I am trying to get the 3G on att to work. I know the lte won't work but the hspa should thou since it has the proper bands for it.
I have been able to get the 3G to work by manual setting it by the dialer but it won't make calls until I set to it back to automatic it. It won't go back to 3G until I manual set it back
I have tried every apn settings and nothing doing...
I am not sure but maybe I need to try a different radio? I am currently on the latest jb radio.
Any ideas?

I think you need to make sure your phone sim is unlocked. You can do it by some method on these boards or you can call your tmobile and ask them for the unlock code.

If its unlocked you should only need to pop the att sim card in and it shoudl automaticly set the att apns(on CM10 or any aosp rom, rebuild TW rom), and get hspa+, tho if your on stock rom you need to add the apns manually since the apn.xml inside framework-res.jar dosnt have them.
Yea its already unlocked and it gets service it just doesn't make the switch to hspa+ unless I manual force it to do so and it doesn't always work sometimes it will show now service

Phone stuck on 4G. Can't make calls.

After restoring a Nandroid of cm10.1 my phone is now stuck on 4G. Data and texts work fine but I can't make or receive calls. If I toggle LTE off in mobile network settings it automatically puts it back on. Same thing if I toggle only use 2G networks.
I imagine this has something to do with me going into the radio dialer settings (the settings page you get on touchwiz by dialing *#2263#) but am unsure.
Is there a way to access that screen or one that has similar function on cm10.1 so I can test? Or do I need to flash a TW ROM and change it back? And to what, automatic?

*#*#4636#*#* gets you into the testing menu on CM10.1 where you can then go to phone info and change the preferred network type.
Ya I tried apns, sim resets, really anything I could think of that's connected to the radios. *#*#4636#*#* had the same results as the toggles in settings. It would automatically just switch back to lte.
In the end I just reflashed a touchwiz ROM, went into *#2263#, the LTE band had an * beside it. Hit automatic and Nandroided back to cm. Everything working fine now.
I guess those settings are on a hardware level nandroids can't get at. Live and learn.

Any way to disable EDGE/GPRS

I've never had an issue with T-Mobile until the last month, and I thought maybe my Note 2 was going wonky but the Note 3 does the same thing. Basically it likes to mostly switch from LTE to EDGE or even GPRS sometimes, and it's driving me insane. If you do *#2263# in the dialer it brings up the network settings and you can force LTE/WCDMA only, but then it never drops down to the battery saving UMTS, which I want to do. There has to be a way to just plain disable EDGE/GPRS completely, or at least change the priority to where it doesn't ever go to those unless it has zero signal of either HSPA, UMTS or LTE. Any ideas?
/sadface. Bump just in case no one saw this.
WCDMA=UMTS
*#*#4636#*#*
Choose phone info
Set to WCDMA only
You won't connect to lte this way but it'll disable the fallback to edge/gprs.
Also, I'd change your apn settings to use the epc.tmobile.com apn instead of the fast.tmobile.com if
you're going to force wcdma.

Mobile networks not working

I have a rooted, s-off Verizon htc one m8 that has its noble networks very messed up. I often go into Pimp My Rom to access the phones hidden settings and force 4G when my 3G is too slow. But for some reason about half of the network options immediately switch to a different option. When LTE is selected and I try to switch to EvDo it flashes EvDo for a fraction of a second and then switches to LTE. When auto it on (which includes EvDo) it never switches to 3G. I fear I will never be able to use 3G which is the only service available at my house. I was also playing around with the three radio bands, another setting in that menu. Nothing seemed to change and I don't even know what those are.
On a side note, is there any way to check the status of htc security (s-on/off)?

Boot into bootloader, and it will say either s-on or s-off in one of the top few lines.
What ROM? If a custom ROM, you sure its one that supports Verizon?
Its stock
