[Q] Reboots when connected to 3G/4G - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone.
I have a problem, and it is most annoying.
My G2 has been rebooting since about 4:30, the cause I have found out to be, is when connected to 3G/4G.
It does not reboot when it's connected to Edge.
It happened running the Doubleshot Sense 3.0 rom, and I wiped and flashed Cyanogenmod 7.0.2, and the problem persisted. Does anyone know the cause? And how I might be able to fix it? Or if I have to take it in to T-Mobile.
Thanks in advance.

So full wipe doesn't help? Maybe the radio? Try to flash a diffrent radio from Joemm radio thread. If you keep getting that issue try to go back to stock and see if the problem is still there. Most of time flashing back to stock fixes most problems.

You most likely have a radio issue and should considering updating to a Gingerbread radio. You can do so by going here. Once you update the radio it would be wise to reinstall the ROM or go to a more stable ROM.

[Q] Cant get GPS to work on nightly

hey guys
any fix for gps in nightly builds?
i cant get it to work at alll
any help?
I've been using stock radio all throughout CM and the last time it worked for me was with build 4. I'm on build 28 or 29 now, but read somewhere in the thread that reflashing the stock radio worked for them, so I tried it. I am on a G2, whose stock radio is the 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M. I flashed the nightly, then reflashed the radio. I can't get a GPS lock in my house (I've been able to do it before), but I tried it a few miles away while at an In-And Out drive-thru and I got a lock within seconds and was able to use navigation just fine with voice.
G2 stock radio download link (verify this is your current radio if you're on stock)
Radio thread (instructions too - fastboot with the radio renamed on the root of sd card)
I'm not sure how this plays out in the past two nightlies, but this worked for me. You'd probably have to reflash the radio every nightly.
If you're on a Desire Z, I'd recommend checking what radio you're on and looking for it in that radio thread and trying to flash your current radio after the nightly.
cheers ill try it i have the europe htc desire z so ill have to find the stock radio
thanks!!!
Or you can use RC2....
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
nah the rc2 doesnt work for me either ive tried all the nightly builds and cyanogen mod rc1 and rc2 and they dont work shame, the only trouble i have is with gps.
i have a question, my radio is this one:
Vision_RADIO_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26
MD5 Check Sum: CB45ED9CB543E433E49B8022FC17ACB9
from OTA Update Tmobile rom 1.22
however my phone is the desire z straight from htc, does it matter if the radio i flash is from the tmobile rom
thanks
When I did mess with my radios, the GPS started working but my phone stopped recognizing HSDPA, even after going back to the stock radio. I went back to 6.1.1 then restored my previous 7 nightly. The "H" symbol came back but my GPS vanished. I did try the RIL auto-matching install, but that came up with nothing.
I'll do more searching, but this is a weird situation.
Are you talking about cm7 nightlys? Cuz they fixed it on #29 I think. Well I have #30 nd it is working
Sent from my SilverBullet "HTCDesireZ running CM7"
okay ill try and flash again lol
and i know its weired lol i tried using the gps status and tools but it just keeps showing the loading circle lol
ah well, its not that much of a big deal, i spose roms are developing every day so hopefully there will be a fix soon lol
thanks

[Q] HELP: my HTC Desire reboot/freeze/hangs when I use a cooked ROM

Hi guys:
I am really desperate now... my phone only seems to work with the official ROM, everytime I rooted, and installaed a Cooked ROM (GB ROM) very soon (in a minutes of using it) it will hang or freeze or reboot.
I explain all backround:
1. firstable I have my desire working for awhile with many cooked ROM (Froyo), after months, the phone started to reboot everytime, so I have sent it to the SAT, and they changed the motherboard. and give it back to me.
- The new motherboard is
PVT4
HBOOT 0.93
MicroO 0,51d
2. I rooted it OK (using unrevoke methos)
3. Flashed a cooked ROM => then is when the problem starts, everything after falshing is OK, but after a few time of usage with the cooked ROM, then the phones starts to freezes randomly.
some further info:
- tried with Neophyte ROMs Reflez 2.0.9,2.1.0...2.1.6 => same issue
- tried with LeeDrOiD V2.5.0 FINAL | 28th May l Official => same issue
- tried with LeeDrOiD GB 3.0.6 => same issue
if I go back into the offical ROM (by unrroting method) using the "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_Vodafone_UK_2.33.161.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_157522_signed" => Issue is NOT reproduced!
- In all cases, I did try to keep ONLY apps coming from the flasehd ROMs, to make sure any app is causing the issue.
- I have tried using another miniSDcard (8GB class 4) => same issue!
Is it anything wrong with the new motherboard?
Is there anyway to check logs or trace why is freezing?
Any clue?
Thanks for your advise!
best
SCesarin
(please don't advise me to keep using the official bored ROM)
No body give me a clue or help on this?
Please

I have the same problem. I have noticed that most times my desire freezes when I download something over mobile network. So maybe the problem is in A2SD? I'm going to try with Cool Kingdom Rom, because I already have EXT4 Partition.

Thanks a lot Deivino for your comments.
Please keep me posted about what happens with your "Cool K. ROM"
hope your issue is gone then.
Mine still present, I can use ONLY the official ROM.

So I had no luck with Cool Rom. It still freezes, but much less now. Also these freezes are very random now, mostly when screen is off. I haven't flashed jet the newest radio and ril, but I don't think it would fix it either. I was thinking about unrooting, but when I did, I got less than 30% battery error with full battery. So I have no idea how to fix it or what is even causing this freezing.
Hi Deivino
Since I've unsuccesfully tried with many cooked ROMs, finally I have decided to take the phone to SAT, which fortunately still on guarantiee.
Let's see what do they find...
good luck with your phone,
best
I managed to unroot my desire and now running official android 2.2 what htc provides and the problem still occurs for me. I don't see no other way but to send it to warranty.
Hi Deivino
I did the same, actually many things unsuccesfully as you see in my first post.
Finally, I sent it to warranty, and they gave me back already a new device!
Now, it works OK.
So, unfortunately, the issue was not fixed at all, either I don't know what caused the issue.
regards
SCésar
Try cyanogenmod.. it's THE singlemost stable ROM you can install on your phone. Never fails.
I agree.. never had an issue with CyanogenMod ROMs

Hi Guys,
thanks, finally I sent my desire to SAT, and they gave me back a complete new one!
So, with the old one I did all in my hands unsuccesfully as I explained in my first post, so I didn't try CyanogenMod ROMs therefore I will never know if it would works!
Anyway, thanks a lot guy for all your suggestions.

Couple of issues with Wifi/Radio updates

So I recently installed MIUI, and as soon as I did my Wifi radio stopped working. Every time I try to switch it, it turns back off and says "error."
I figured this was a problem with my radio (26.02.01.15_M2) when I found another irksome problem. When I go to flash PC10IMG.zip the bootloader gets to "Checking PC10IMG.zip) and then quits and refuses to attempt the update.
Any ideas?
I apologize if this question has been asked, but I couldn't find anything similar in the short search I did.
Thanks in advance!
Could be a bad download? Which Radio are you trying to flash?
Download the radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
Dont know what ROM you are running but Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 seems to be a good one, download the attached file for wiping the EFS(Important when flashing radios)
The link has further instructions and information, hope that helps
Hey, thanks for your response! I actually tried three different Radios from that thread (the first three), and none of them worked. I ran an efs wipe yesterday because I was having GPS problems, and these problems persisted after that...
FWIW, when I flash other kernels/ROMs, things work fine (CM7, PyroMod, Stock) but on MIUI these problems crop up.

Do you mean you can update the radio with other ROMs or do you mean that the wifi problem is only on MIUI?If your problem is only with MIUI cant help as I dont use that ROM but still doesnt explain your problem with flashing a radio as the bootloader is independent of the ROM
I think the wifi radio and the cellular radio are different and when you flash the radio firmware, it only updates the cellular radio firmware. Someone more knowledgable than me will probably correct me. It's probably something screwy with the MIUI roms which is effecting you. If you want to use MIUI then try one of the other MIUI roms that are out there and also notify the developer of the MIUI rom your using about your issue.
I hate the recent radios for G2 latest one from Bell sucks. Signal drops every few seconds, data connection is just OK. Very disappointed. I did the efs wipe and auto ril matcher V6 and all this other bs and I hate it.

[Q] Radio issue, flashing does not help

Hi xda community, this is my first post here, although im am following the forums for a while now. I have also read similar threads, and googled for about 3 hours now, and still couldnt fix the following issue:
I installed CM7.1.0.1 on the standard HTC Wildfire, and the GPS doesnt work. the radio version was 3.35.20.10, and I downgraded it to 3.35.19.25 but still nothing. problem is i cant get the signal, and there is no satellite icon on the status bar. like nothing is happening. I reverted the radio to 3.35.20.10 but still nothing. what do you recommend? are there any special methods to fix the issue? I did it by downgrading the recovery to 2.0.5 or something and then istalled the zip from the sd card.
edit1: downloaded GPS Test (i am not advertising, some1 might find it useful) and got the icon on the status bar. ill go and test it, and will update the post.
edit2: seems to work, found 7 satellites in 3 seconds with GPS Test. turned off wi-fi, started a popular navi app, locked signal after few seconds. maybe ill set it to solved?
Long story short:
Downgraded Radio
Upgraded Radio
Downloaded and started GPS Test, outside
Found satellites, icon is also there
started a navi app, locked signal
Same problem, still no solution though...
I had, still have the same issue. And I have already tried all that you have done in vain...
Any one else had that issue?
Thanks
Flash a sense based rom, turn on GPS, open Google maps and leave it to get a good fix. Without changing anything pop out the battery and then reboot to recovery and either restore a Cm7 backup or flash the rom again.

Thanks. Trying that now...will edit after.
EDIT: Can't find a proper Sense based ROM. Tried REMPuzzzle but phone stuck on HTC Screen. Downloading DK CustomROM now... If anyone knows whether there is a safe flash Stock ROM around, please do tell. The link in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275680 is dead.
FINAL EDIT
@saadislam and @LucidSomnia: I know, but when I said it takes time, I meant like over 2.5 hours, I think there might have been something wrong in the zip file.
Anyways thank you for all of you there in XDA Community for your support. I finally managed to sort it out by using Scratch0805's advice above and it works fine now.
**The only issue I got was to find a Sense-based ROM. Everything I tried either had an error, could not install, corrupted or took TOOOO LOOOONG to load. So here are the steps I have taken:
1. I used RUU to start over with a Stock ROM. [ available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275680&highlight=rom ]
2. Re-root [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035 and/or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365159&highlight=rooting+guide ]
3. Flash new Radio (20.10) since rooting goes back to 19.25 or 15.35.
4. Install and run GPS Test (on the Stock ROM)
5. Allow it to lock on couple of satellites.
6. Pop the battery out.
7. Boot into Recovery.
8. Use a Nandroid backup (or you could install a fresh one)
9. Enjoy GPS Working again!!!
Thank you again XDA Community!
Are you sure the radio was reflashed... I am saying this because when I tried to flash radio via recovery, it completed and I reboot.. but Gps wasn't fixed.. I rechecked the radio version but it was the older one so basically radio wasn't flashed...
So I went on to flash via flashboot.. this time all process was completed and Gps worked fine afterwards...
Radio version 20.10 is the one which has always worked for me...
And one thing more.. Rempuzzle Rom takes time to load first time...

That happens to all roms because dalvik cache has to be rebuild.

Freezing on almost any ROM

Hi,
I have little problem, my Desire freezes in only one room in house, where signal is little bit unstable, and it freezes with almost every ROM I tried - Cyanogenmod 7.2.0.1, Runnymede, RunnyROM, Alex 1.8 sense rom.. the only ROM that doesn't freeze in that room is spazedog (BCM) .. anyone has idea what might be the problem? in every other rooms in the house it's working fine, but in that room I have to pull the battery and go somewhere else immediately after boot it freezes again..
Maybe it is a connection issue. Try reading bortak's guide in the changing preferred network section. Dunno if it will help or not, if not try changing radio.

Are you on the latest radio? Try and flash the recommended radio with each of those ROMs. Also, try and fix permissions from recovery and uninstall any apps that may interfere with the signal reception (if you have any)
Thanks, I have to check radio version, but I tried fixing permisions without success..moreover, freezing occurs right after flashing ROM, so it's not application-related

I flashed latest radio, it caused even more freezes on runnyrom and alex 1.8 gingerbread sense rom, at least I have no freezes on cyanogenmod thank you for your advice
