[Solved]Weather unable to detect my current location - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
My weather widget is unable to turn into current location. I have shared my current location with Google but still shows only "My Location" and not "Current Location" on the clock widget(with weather widget). I am using LeeDrOid v2.2.3. Previously I do not have problem in this. But now not sure why the problem arose.
Thanks.

I saw this problem appeared for someone. Try to turn on your GPS. Please post if it helps

Ive got the same issue with android revs hd 5.1.1 ROM.
GPS and WIfi enabled and working.

Hi Va_Alexander and fatr1ch1e
Erm.. I have turned on GPS but still no luck. By the way turn on WiFi? I guess I must be connected into a WiFi server first before I can conclude anything. I do not have any WiFi at my house currently. So I will update you all soonest after I managed to fix them(hopefully. lol). If still can't be fix guess I should consider reflash the ROM again. Thanks ya. =)

I rebooted ,mine with gps off and then switched it back on. Weather now back to normal

Hi to all again.
Ok, I've tried to use WiFi(with GPS off). It works great and it is back to normal once again. Thx.

Rooted 2.2= no weather update?

So I rooted over the weekend and tried several roms but noticed a problem that drives me nuts. After the downgrade my weather works with the clock\weather widget but after rooting the weather cant find my location. It doesnt seem to matter what rom I load the weather widget does not work. I tired beatiful widgets and it only works if I manually enter my location none will automatically detect my location. I did multiple wipes of data and delvic with no help. I even ran the sprint 2.2 ruu and it didn't work. The only way to get it back was run the ruu and then downgrade back to 2.1 and it works then 2.2 ota upgrade and it works but not when I root. I searched and tried all the ideas to no avail. Is anyone else having this problem? By the way the 2 roms I was wanting to use were CM6 and Fresh just want it to automatically find my location for weather.
So am I to assume that nobody has had this issue or has any ideas?

I turned GPS off, enable the use wireless networks in location settings. Then turned GPS back on.............and now mine works.
What setting did you turn the gps off and back on in.
I tried that and I still have the Current location issue.
I just turned on wifi, I got my correct city showing again.
I think it's an issue with 3g that I posted another thread about.
So now my issue with 3g is that I can't get google to sync contacts, calander, email well, google talk times out, market can't pull open pages and now my current location city name.

[Q] weather apps not finding location, network error??

i have had this issue for sometime, i thought it was app specific...
until i loaded up 2 other weather apps.
go weather 1.5.1 and animated weather.
both tell me network error when trying to look up my location.
the stock weather app works fine, everything is enabled, location, gps, all that stuff...
using mikfroyo 4.5.. but this issue has been happening on other roms as well.
any ideas on what the deal is?

Genie Widget Network issue ?

Does anyone else have a network issue with news and weather ?
I'm running Bugless Beast JB with Trinity Kernel.
It won't refresh and says there's a network issue.
The Google says this could be a server side issue, but just wanted to see if anyone else has the same issue ?
Had the same issue since last night.
UK.
Regards.
i'm having the same issue, i think/hope it's just a temporary server problem
here is another thread about it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786370
Same issue here in France, ever since this morning...
Not just me then... wouldn't be the first time it went down for several hours. Time to find a replacement, I think.
Yeah, same here. And I deleted and reinstalled widget, looked trough different settings and so on...
My logcat says:
07-21 19:51:35.822 2657 2657 W Genie : Cache file not found: java.io.FileNotFoundException: /data/data/com.google.android.apps.genie.geniewidget/files/genie_iconcache (No such file or directory)
Not sure if it is related, but I deleted all app caches recently
Why is it always the good apps that quit working? Why can't the BlockBuster bloatware app quit working?

Seems to have been fixed, news and weather displaying and refreshing properly now.
same problem here with LG-P500 - always get network error...
sometimes it work if i enable "use wireless networks" for getting location but most of the time it doesn´t work.
searching manually for a location never works!
it stopped working since google introduced this:

Weather widget location error

Hi everybody,
I'm having a problem with the HTC weather locations. It is displaying the country's name instead of the weather in the specific location. This happens in both Wi-Fi and 3G connections and it wasn't like this in the first days of use.
I have the HTC One X stock unbranded rom 2.17.401.2 with Android 4.0.4 and Sense 4.1. This also happened in the previous update.
Any solution for that?

Just a shot in the dark here, but check your timezone settings in your clock (??)
Could you try selecting or adding a location manually? This is done from within the weather app.
Also, I can't remember now if the option is still there, but I remember a while ago seeing a setting to change the weather provider from google to accuweather or vice versa (might have been on a CM rom? not sure, sorry).
One other thing, are you using something like Autostarts or a start up manager? It's possible you've disabled the location service by mistake.
It's a problem with htc/sense happens now and then, make sure all your location settings are turned on. Open like maps and location and get location restart a couple of times. I've seen this error loads over the years with stock roms

Problems with weather widget and detecting location since update?

I have not had much success in getting replies from folks in the thread regarding the latest update from T-Mobile so thought I would post it here.
Ever since the 4.1.2 OTA update from T-Mobile, the weather widget no longer is able to detect my location and get updates on it. I can manually set my location, and that will update, but if I try to add a location and click the "Detect" button, it hangs for a moment trying to update then simply quits, without detecting my location.
Someone suggested I delete data from the weather widget app in settings, which I have and still the same problem exists. Anyone else have this issue?

Have you had any other issues with any other apps that use the GPS?
The most I can advise is a Factory Reset otherwise. Unless anyone else has any better ideas regarding this issue.
Look in the GPS fix thread stickied here. It may have a few things to try.
Do any other gps utilities work?

I should have mentioned this, but I have no problems with location settings in any other app, whether it be using 4g connection, wifi, or GPS. But to my original question, are you guys not experiencing this problem? I simply want anyone else to confirm that with the new update, their weather widget detects their location without issue...?
I am not experiencing this issue, with any weather widget/app, nor with any other GPS dependent app. Granted a week after I updated my phone I bought Nova Launcher and switched to using the Weather Channel instead of Accuweather, and since then I rooted my phone, but I still do not experience the issues you are having.
Check the GPS Sticky Thread, it may help you.
Sorry to dig up a old thread, but this problem was resolved with the latest OTA update.
after updating to stock 4.3 rooted ...first i had same problem...
bt now fixed..
i flashed again...clear cache...thn reboot phn ...and everything back to ok...... :cyclops::cyclops::cyclops::cyclops::cyclops:
