I'm likely to answer your ROMs questions - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI everybody, I found my self a bit experienced in issues which can appear with GB ROMs for DHD (not so experienced to develop) so I can answer your questions in this thread or PM as you like.
For now I don't answer questions about CM* and MIUI* and not likely to answer questions about FroYo ROMS.

What's the wifi scan interval in ARHD 5.1.1?

It seems for me you know the answer?
EDIT: only now understand your question, as i remebmer it didn't change since FroYo, but I can test if you really need to know it..=)

45 Seconds, I honestly didn't know. Had to check myself.

I've got an easy question. how exactly(!) did you get MDJ's V8 kernel on your phone.
step by step, pls
greets and thanks

Thanks for info, honestly never thought about it because used wi-fi only in home/restraunts... so I used it when I need and then turn of..

Thank you so much! I bet, it will be same procedure with everything around here, where everyone simply says "flash it with cwm"?

When you boot into recovery you'll find 'wipe' choose it and follow steps proposed is easy understandable

Would this be a similar process if I wanted to flash a MOD onto my ROM? So if I wanted to flash the Sense 3 lock screen or the CRT effect, would I do it in this way..? So boot phone into recovery and then select the *.zip file?
Cheers.

Nice one! Id flashed to 5.1.1 and then the additional MODs caught my eye and I was just unsure how to flash them.

me too
I'm still on 5.1.0 and checking the possibilities. by now, I'm not keen on flashing the mods, 'cause mike just announced 5.1.2 and i wonder, how long it will take him to make it final. the way he works, it shouldn't be long, so i will be prepared, when he reaches this point and untill that, there's no need for me, to do nothing but flashing my device

Yeah I've just seen this announcement too and now I'm thinking about putting the MOD flashing on hold.
But I have another question, with v5.1.2, because I already have v5.1.1, I wont need to do a full wipe. So does this mean I'll just need to use ROM Manager and install the new ROM from *.zip over the top of the old one?
OR do I use EASY-UPGRADE-WIPE-1.3.zip (instead of FULL-WIPE-1.3.zip) and then flash the ROM.
Also with this method am I right in thinking that I won't lose my contacts/messages/call history etc?

Same here.

YES, you only must to flash the new rom _(5.1.2) over the 5.1.1 without wipes.
note: the fullwipe.zip is better for people than flash a lot of times, also you can do full wipe from CWM recovery manually.

What's Oxygen?
(snippet from AdamG frontpage):
Oxygen ROM is an AOSP source built ROM (ie. not a mod of any sense based ROM), it's minimal, it's superfast and 99.9% bugfree.
After OpenDesire, I wanted to create something unique, as a fellow developer said to me there is no point there being 3 ROMs based around the same code (CM/OD/DF), I grew bored and lost interest in OD because it no longer felt special and it just felt like a race to release the latest CM code against DF, which was 1 pretty lame and 2 damn right depressing. When I initially started OD it was unique and it's popularity grew exponentially as it was the first Froyo AOSP ROM available for the HTC Desire at the time and a real alternative to the dull, dark and nasty HTC bloatware.
Oxygen is not a mod/port of any HTC/CyanogenMod or any other ROM and may not be to everyones liking, it's minimalistic and basic but I'm open to ideas and suggestions for improving the ROM.

Good news to all pvt4 (different NAND security version of desire) with erasesize 40000 and 20000:
PVT4 can now be S-OFF'd

How to S-OFF your Desire using the reflash utility - By AndroidGX

custom HBOOT for erasesize 40000 and 20000 now available.
To Check erasesize use the adb command below
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/mtd
Output should look like this.

mtd1: 00480000 00040000 "recovery"

mtd4: 02800000 00040000 "cache"
mtd5: 096c0000 00040000 "userdata"
All models can now be S-OFF'd
What's S-OFF?
Quoated from the alpharev
HTC implemented security on their newer generation phones. This flag, called @secuflag, controls whether your phone has
it's NAND or flash unlocked. Most noticeably, S-ON (security on) will read-lock your /system and /recovery partition, to name a few. Also, secuflag controls whether zip files being flashed through recovery or fastboot, are signed by HTC.
The now notorious S-OFF (security off) will disable this NAND security.
Since we are unable to access the Radio NVRAM itself (where secuflag is stored), we turned our attention to HBOOT.

Detailed S-OFF instructions by AndroidGX
Once you have S-OFF'ed you can flash a different partition table Ie: data++, Sense, Stock 1.5 and N1Table.
For Oxygen it is recommended to flash OxygeN HBOOT, Although you can flash data++ and N1table with no problems.
OxygeN HBOOT
Their is now a specific Oxygen HBOOT provided by alpharev.nl.
AdamG: I would like to recommend that people who intend
to use Oxygen as their main ROM use the AlphaRev Oxygen HBOOT,
this is a customized HBOOT specifically for Oxygen and features a
massive /data partition, allowing you to install even more apps
than previously possible.

To install:
Ubuntu :
1) Nandroid backup in recovery. (on your phone)
2) Verify the MD5SUM of the file you downloaded against the one in the table.
Code:
md5sum bravo_alphaspl-oxygen.img
3) Flash Oxygen HBOOT with your phone in fastboot mode (fastboot is a command line program used in the android sdk)
To enter fastboot press = (Back+POWER) -> open up a termon ubuntu or on windows, a CMD shell, then enter the below
Code:
fastboot flash hboot bravo_alphaspl-oxygen.img
(change into the correct filename for the HBOOT you downloaded)
4)Then
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
5)Then
Code:
fastboot erase cache
6)Boot into recovery, flash oxygen-rom, wipe all and Reboot.
Fastboot and ADB Setup Instructions

Windows Instructions by mazodude - Even tho this is for Nexus, The process is exactly the same
Ext3 partition removal
With the new OxygeN HBOOT their is no longer a need for ext3 (in fact its slower), So to remove it you will need to download something like Gparted to manage the partition tables on your sdcard.
Delete the ext3 partition and completely reformat the card to fat32
Then install the new Oxygen HBOOT,
Then wipe cache's /all,
Then install OxygeN.
Radio
If your using the Oxygen Hboot you WILL need to flash any radios via fastboot!
Using ADB from either a terminal or command line, enter the below...
Code:
fastboot flash radio radio.img
Remember to extract the radio.img from the .zip before hand!
TIP! = Having the radio.img in the tools folder of the SDK, or wherever your adb program is makes life easy..

Q: [COLOR="green"]How can I change the stock Launcher[/COLOR]
A: Go to Settings > Apps > Permissions > Clear data for Zeam. Press home, choose Launcher and highlight "use as default" **remember to download another launcher from the market first**
Q: [COLOR='green']Do I need to do a full wipe? [/COLOR]
A: You shouldn't have to if coming from RC7 or DevNull, however if you have any issues with stability or features not working you will be asked to perform a full wipe + reinstall before we can help you.
Q: [COLOR='green']What A2SD does this support? [/COLOR]
A: Oxygen 2.0 supports "froyo style" apps2sd, it also supports A2SD with an EXT3 or EXT4 partition. By default the dalvik cache is not moved to SD for performance reasons - [URL="http://*******/2GapT"]see here[/URL]. D2SD/D2W scripts will work - but please take this up in their respective threads if you have questions to ask.
Q: [COLOR='green']My battery is draining too fast - what the?[/COLOR]
A: This is a peculiarity of GB rom's at this point. Change your wifi settings to never sleep and problem solved - seems a little back to front but it works! (thanks earanor)
Q: [COLOR='green']Why don't some apps show in market - they did before?[/COLOR]
A: In the final release of this ROM the market fingerprint was updated to reflect that you're now running 2.3.3. If an app does not show it means it may not be compatible with Gingerbread - you should contact the App dev regarding this. [URL="http://*******/2Gaq3"]See here[/URL]
Q: [COLOR='green']Why is this missing? [/COLOR]
A: OJ Wake/Track Change/Quiet Hours Google changed alot of the underlying code in the 2.3.3 update which broke a few things. These features are being actively worked on but are currently not functioning - an update will be released at some point to restore these features, but there is no ETA currently. UPDATE - FM Radio is back in 2.0.1 - thanks AdamG
Q: [COLOR='green']Does HTC Sync/ x sense app work with this?[/COLOR]
A: No, and they never will. This is not a HTC ROM - therefore HTC features are not here. Sense apps require massive amounts of framework changes to run and at this point in time it's simply not worth the effort. If you MUST have your sense app - run a sense rom.
Q: [COLOR='green'] My USB transfers are slow/VPN doesn't work? [/COLOR]
A: This is an issue in the latest .37 kernels. Thalamus has kindly updated a .35 kernel to be compatible and is available [URL="http://thalamus.ineige.org/kernels/2.6.35/"]here[/URL]. 2.35.11r5 currently recommended. 2.35.11 build will also fix your VPN - .37 VPN implementation is currently incompatible with Android (thanks _thalamus!)
Q: [COLOR='green']Why can't I see my wireless network?[/COLOR]
A: It's a minor bug in the 2.37.2 kernel launched with Oxygen 2.0.1 - simply update to the latest .37 build[URL="http://thalamus.ineige.org/kernels/2.6.37/"] here[/URL] and all will be resolved. Later releases of Oxygen will include the fixed kernel. (thanks _thalamus).
Q: [COLOR='green']Automatic backlight is too dark - how can i fix?[/COLOR]
A: AdamG posted his fix [URL="http://*******/2Gaqy"]here[/URL] - UPDATE from 2.0.1 auto backlight should be fine so long as you full wipe before install.
Q: [COLOR='green']Where did 720P recording go?[/COLOR]
A: Google did not include 720P recording in the Nexus One 2.3.3 update that AdamG needed to pull video recording from - therefore it's not in here either. Unlike other roms which employ hacks to enable 720P recording, Oxygen is kept clean and hack free to keep your user experience as good as possible. Video quality however IS STILL GOOD! You can't watch 720P back on a Desire screen anyway.
Q: [COLOR='green']Do i need to be S-off or have Oxygen hboot?[/COLOR]
A: No, the rom will work S-on and with any hboot layout. However the recommender set-up is S-off and Oxygen hboot (thanks TheGhost1233)

I have no idea if this will work but worth a go! LINK
But better be safe and Nandroid first!
Also if successful let us know
weird thing about the new market posted above is that if i upgrade it without deleting the old data, it would work fine but if i delete the data of the market, it will begin to fc. it does not happen in the old market. so full wipe + using the new market will certainly fc on me with "requires com.google.android.providers.settings.permission.WRITE_GSETTINGS" in the logcat. this will happen after i accepted the terms and conditions.
Thanks but unfortunately it isn't working, I have allready read the whole forum, all the other post to, and I compared the related files from line to line, caracter to caracter, it is 1:1 like in other roms with working d-pad unlock... but it does not work in 2.3 oxygene:/

The new market is clearly marked under Extras, Its a flashable zip, I actually tested it myself earlier and can confirm its working as intended.
Just boot into recovery, your clockwork mod, and flash just like a rom update!
Hope that helps

Go back into recovery and re-flash the RC2 but make sure you Wipe all caches!
Its needed as a new signed test key is used in this build
Is there to be openvpn client for this Rom?
Thanks.
Do you know if it is possible to get the old 2D Gallery that was in the earlier versions of Oxygen on RC2?
I searched through the main oxygen thread and couldn't find anything.

Just added try it out and let me know
Hi guys,
I'm having a problem:
When I flashed this rom, the homescreen comes and I can login with my gmail account but after that, the phone keeps rebooting. I don't know why. I use a 8gb sd card with 2gb ext4. I only have this problem with Oxygen roms, not with any HD or MIUI roms, but only with the oxygen roms. The oxygen roms are the fastest and best roms, but it keeps rebooting.
Sorry for the bad english.

Thanks I removed Gallery3D and installed the one in the first post and worked fine. The only annoying thing that I've just noticed is that say in launcher pro and you select change icon it puts all the images together instead of showing it in the different folders like it does when you open it up on it's own.
Thanks for uploading it
Thanks for this thread. It would be great if you could add some comments on what each add-on is (e.g gennie widget and black market ??) A link to this post should also be added to main oxygen thread.
Great job!

Additional Information:
This will wipe winmo off your phone. To get it back just flash a stock winmo rom. Also, magldr takes the place of the SECOND bootscreen (there are three stages). So you can flash a first stage bootscreen no problem (I have done this), but do NOT flash a second stage one.

[ROM] [AOSP](8/9/14) Shiny ROM: OTA-Like, Stock Android [4.4.4] [KTU84P]

Shiny ROM: Android 4.4.4, KTU84P for Galaxy Nexus (Maguro)
Skip right to the downloads (if you dare )
Hello there XDA GNex community! I'll admit this is a pretty spontaneous post; I've been building ROMs from the Android Open Source (Project) for awhile now, but I've never "published" any of them. I myself used to own a Verizon Galaxy Nexus, so I've always built from AOSP to make sure I'm as up to date as possible. Well, that's a little background so let's get going with the overview of the ROM itself:
Overview
This ROM is Android KitKat 4.4.4, build KTU84P. The ROM is built directly from source, that is, the Android source code published by Google available for download to all of us developers. The reason I say the ROM is "OTA-like" is because I make VERY few modifications to it, aside from the things that it takes to get the ROM working. I'll go into detail about those things below, but basically I just want the ROM to make your phone feel stable and shiny and new as if it has just received a new OTA update. That being said, it's clear that the landscape of Nexus devices is changing as new ones are released. Therefore, the other primary goal of this ROM is to keep our Galaxy Nexus as close to the modern Nexus design as possible. This means that I will also add in features that will still be stock, but will also make our phones as close to a current Nexus as possible.
As for how I handle the forum side of things, I'm always open to comments, questions, suggestions, requests, etc. I know that most of those things will often be in the form of criticism, but it's okay, I think I can handle it That being said, I do also have a life and am a college student, so I may not get to come on here ALL the time. I will check back as frequently as possible, and I'm hoping that you guys will help each other out as much as possible! Keep it friendly! So now for the details...
Features
Stock Android 4.4.4, build KTU84P
Source (AOSP) built kernel (boot.img)
Easily rootable (see information below)
G-Apps (GMail, Play Store, etc.) included in build along with Nexus apps
Stock browser replaced with Google Chrome
Shiny restart options - access them by holding down the power button and then long pressing on "Power Off"
All the crazy Google proprietary app stuff has been taken care off
Updated frequently
Everything works!
So what do I mean when I say "Everything works!"?
I'm sure by now you all know that when someone says that, it usually ends up not being true. This ROM is not an exception to that rule, but I can say that I've tested most of the things that would be expected to work in stock Android, such as...
WiFi Tethering (no subscription check)
Bluetooth streaming
Google account sign-in and auto-restore of apps and settings
Google Wallet
Location Services (pretty fast GPS lock in my area also)
Photosphere
Android beam
Photo editing with the new filters
Email
Exchange support
Like I said, the normal stuff (data, voice, hardware acceleration, etc.)
More things that aren't important enough to mention here - check out the changelog for a more comprehensive list
Possible Bugs
It's impossible for me to test for and notice EVERY single possible bug in the operating system, so as of right now I can't say that there are any, although I'm sure you will find some. If you do, report them here!
Other IMPORTANT Information
Root
But wait, nothing in this post said anything about root!!!11!!1!1!!! That's right, my ROM does NOT have root built in! (I don't use any root apps, and it's important to the whole "OTA-like" theme). That being said, the ROM is easily rootable; I made sure of this because I know that many, many of you will use root for many useful purposes. If you want to root the ROM, it's as easy as installing Chainfire's new superuser control app/su with this ZIP file. More detailed information can be found in the "Installation Instructions" section. **NOTE** If you are rooted and upgrading to a new build, you should not have to reflash the rooting flashable ZIP because the ROM will keep root for you.
Updates
Now that the ROM has gotten to this stage, the update policy needs a bit of editing Based on the stats I have access to from the website host and data that I collect myself, it seems like Shiny ROM is currently (as of May 27, 2014) stable for at least 80% of the users who have downloaded it. Based on this, and because the ROM is stock, Nexus-like, it doesn't really make sense to update the ROM as frequently as before. The ROM will still be updated as soon as possible after new versions of Android are released. In between Android versions, I will work on making things 100% stable, although that goal isn't always attainable with older devices and aging hardware support. If we decide to explore other paths for the ROM, you will see many more updates If/when the time comes for me to stop updating Shiny ROM, I will let everyone know in a clear way.
Radios
This ROM will (most likely) work with any maguro radios (so long as you have the appropriate ones for your device/area; however, I of course recommend using the most recent radios doe your device. You can find flashable ZIPs of all radio versions in the download post.
Bootloader
Once again, I'm assuming that this ROM will work with all tuna bootloaders; BUT for optimal experience and performance, use the newest Google-approved bootloader, PRIMEMD04. My ZIP installation package for that bootloader can be downloaded here.
ClockworkMod Recovery
I personally recommend using ClockworkMod Recovery as it has always worked well for me with no quirks. Android 4.2 messed up a few aspects of recoveries because of its multi-user system. ClockworkMod Recovery has been updated to correct some of these issues, and I recommend updating to the most recent version, 6.0.4.7. You can flash either the touch recovery or non-touch recovery image through fastboot OR you can download my flashable recovery update ZIP (touch/non-touch) and flash it in recovery. Check out the installation instructions for more details on this.
Some Other Not-so-important Information
Naming Conventions
All of my ROM ZIP files are automatically generated by my build computer. All builds begin with the prefix ShinyROM_maguro_aosp. That prefix is always followed by the date in mmddyy format (e.g. 112212), a hyphen ("-"), and the time in 24-hour, hhmmss format (e.g. 153945). Finally, all builds end with the "signed" suffix - it just helps me know which packages have finished building and which have not. Hopefully this helps everyone to know which update is newest; I stay away from version numbers because I let Google do all of the version control.
Source
In keeping with the spirit of open-source, all relevant Shiny ROM code can be viewed on Github. I'm not extremely experienced with Github, so bear with me as I learn! Thank you!
File Hosting
I've switched over from using Dev-host to a privately hosted site, graciously and generously given to me by user Goofball. Dev-host is still an amazing service, but it's much more convenient for me to use a privately hosted site, plus I get my own suburl and FTP access! HUGE thanks to Goofball! The private hosting will definitely help me deliver a better experience to you guys as far as downloading goes. You can view all of my uploaded, public files here: http://shinyrom.goofball.org/
Also, if anyone ever wants to mirror for me, please feel free so long as you keep the file name and the file itself intact. As for everyone who downloads from a posted mirror: BE CAREFUL! Always use a virus scanner and be careful with what you are putting on your device!
Installation Instructions (VERY IMPORTANT - Note: You can flash all of these ZIPs in CWM or TWRP*)
*Android 4.4 KitKat builds must be installed using the latest version of your preferred recovery!
ROM
1. Download the latest version of the ROM from the download post. (Also download any other files you will need to install, such as Chainfire's SuperSU Root ZIP, radio installation ZIPs, the bootloader installation ZIP, etc.)
2. Put the file(s) you downloaded in step 1 on your phone's internal storage (sdcard).
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Boot into the bootloader of the phone by holding down both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously until you feel a vibration and see a large arrow that says "Start".
5. Use the volume keys to change the arrow until it says "Recovery," then press the power button to boot into recovery.
6. Because of differences in recovery types, I will make the following steps rather generic.
7. Wipe cache.
8. Wipe dalvik cache.
9. If you want to be 100% sure there are no problems, wipe data. If you are coming from another ROM or Android version, wipe data. If you do not wipe data and something goes wrong, repeat this process but wipe data - this step is not necessary if you are simply upgrading.
10. If you are updating your radios, flash the radio ZIP
11. If you are updating your bootloader, flash PRIMEMD04-signed.zip
12. Flash the ROM (ShinyROM_maguro_aosp...signed.zip)
13. If you are rooting, flash Chainfire's SuperSU ZIP file - this step is not necessary if you were rooted on the previous build and are simply upgrading.
14. Reboot your phone, and enjoy!
**Note: If you are simply upgrading to a new version of the ROM and want to keep root, follow the exact instructions above, and do not format /system. It really is not necessary to format /system at any time (unless specifically noted), as the ROM installer has this function built in.
Mods
1. Download the latest version of the mod(s) you wish to install from the download post.
9. Install the mod(s) you downloaded in step 1.
10. Fix permissions (not really necessary)
11. Reboot and enjoy!
**Note: You can remove all mods you've installed by dirty flashing the latest version of the ROM.
ClockworkMod Recovery (Fastboot method - must have an unlocked bootloader and fastboot in your path)
1. Download either the CWM touch recovery image or non-touch recovery image to your computer and rename it to "recovery.img".
2. Power off your phone.
3. Boot into the bootloader of the phone by holding down both volume buttons and the power button simultaneously until you feel a vibration and see a large arrow that says "Start".
4. Plug your phone into your computer using the standard USB cable.
5. Open the command prompt/terminal and navigate to the folder where your "recovery.img" is saved.
6. Type "fastboot devices" to make sure your phone is recognized; a serial number should show up on the screen.
7. Type "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img" and wait for the process to complete (should be quick).
8. You're done! Use the volume keys to select "Recovery" and boot into your new recovery!
ClockworkMod Recovery (Flashable ZIP method - easier)
If you are updating your recovery before flashing a ROM, these steps should ALL be completed PRIOR to flashing the ROM.
1. Download either the touch recovery flashable ZIP or the non-touch recovery flashable ZIP.
2. Place the ZIP file downloaded in step 1 on your internal storage/sdcard.
6. Choose "Install update from sdcard"
7. Select "Choose file from sdcard"
8. Find the flashable recovery ZIP file you downloaded and install it
9. Back up to the root menu of recovery
10. Select "advanced"
11. Select "reboot recovery"
12. The phone should boot up into your new recovery!
Credits
As with most ROMs, I only did a small part to get everything together. Also, a note that should be made here is that when I am using someone else's file, I ALWAYS host files on the Shiny ROM server to ensure that I don't put any unnecessary stress on their servers. Any file, however, still belongs to and is accredited to its original creator as listed below:
Willyjay - For providing us with lots of amazing and innovative mods for the ROM!
Inmanster - Another great modder who we are fortunate to have here in the thread. He works in collaboration with Willyjay and his mods for many things, but also does some of his own unique mods!
Chainfire - For their SuperSU app and su binary, as well as the convenient ZIP update package, which was previously used and recommended. Check out their website, http://www.chainfire.eu/
Groupers - My new buddy who helped me out with a GPS issue that popped up in 4.2.
Google - Without their amazing staff and willingness to share the source code of their operating system, I wouldn't have been able to build this ROM! Of course, all of the Google apps are theirs, along with the Play Store and system apps. They really are the true owners of all of this.
Samsung - We all may have some mixed feelings about them, but in the end they gave us the amazing, hackable phone that is the Galaxy Nexus.
XDA - By providing such a great Android community, ROMs like this one are able to easily connect with users and get their work out there
Dev-Host - The file-sharing service with virtually no limits on sharing - kudos to them and their hard work. d-h.st
Koush and the ClockworkMod/ROM Manager Team - They make the best recovery that's been around for longest, and their constant updates allow us to keep making ROMs! Also, Koush's recently released open source Superuser control app is the best available and the one linked to in the thread. Thanks Koush! clockworkmod.com
Kevdliu - Huge thanks to this dev and their amazing quick settings mod!
The CyanogenMod Team - For a working implementation of DSPManager on Android which can be ported to any AOSP-based ROM! Without them and Bigwavedave25, the DSP manager mod would not be available! Be sure to thank them and to check out the CyanogenMod website! Also, for their feature-filled version of the stock Messaging app which is available as a mod for my ROM!
bouchigo - a user who has helped to make the CM10 Messaging app available as a mod for my ROM in conjunction with Willyjay for bringing it to my attention.
Schoat333 - A user who helped out Willyjay with the bubble styled MMS mods. The credit for the screenshots to go along with the mods goes to him!
Yarly - The most experienced admin I've ever had the pleasure of talking with, who taught me some new debugging tricks and answered some of my questions.
Razorloves - Another admin who helped me out with a few problems and answered a lot of my questions!
Tiny4579 - A kernel dev who also took the time to talk with me and answer a few of my questions.
Thanks to everyone for their hard work and sharing that work with others!
DISCLAIMER
Come on guys, it's a Galaxy Nexus, to what extent could it really get messed up? Nonetheless, in case someone flashes this then puts their phone in the microwave or something and tries to blame it on me, I am not directly responsible for anything that occurs, either negative or positive, from flashing this ROM to your phone. Despite that, I am posting in the spirit of the Android community, a community that I have embraced and belonged to for several years, and I would never try to hurt any of your innocent, beautiful phones. Also, none of the original source for Android belongs to me, nor do any of Google's apps. All preinstalled applications are property of Google, Inc. and I make no claim of ownership to them.

Mods
Before installing any of the packages below, please be sure to check out the mod installation instructions in the OP!
Key
To make mod installation more convenient, all mod links will now be color-coded based on the files they change. The key shows what each color corresponds with:
Red - SystemUI.apk
Blue - framework-res.apk
Purple - SystemUI.apk & framework-res.apk
Green - Other
If you install mods that are in the same color group, it is likely that they will overwrite each other. It is OK to overwrite a previously installed mod, but please note that the originally installed mod will no longer be there. If you want to completely revert to stock, flash the "Back to Stock ZIP" mod under the baldwinguy77 mod section. This mod replaces your SystemUI.apk and framework-res.apk files with ones from the stock ROM.
Developer-specific Mods
All of these mods have been provided by some really awesome mod developers who take the time to continue to make updated mods for my newest ROM builds. That being said, they have lives and can't always get the mods out right away, so make sure the date next to their name matches the build you're running! They usually are around the thread and are open to doing custom mods if you ask Be sure to thank them and check out the credits section for more info!
Baldwinguy77 (Updated for 8/9/14 build)
Back to Stock ZIP - Returns you to the stock version of the ROM by removing SystemUI and framework-res mods.
Stock kernel flashable ZIP - Overwrites any custom kernel you have installed with the stock kernel normally packaged with the ROM.
Inmanster (Updated for 3/9/14 build)
36 DPI Nav. Bar - Replaces the stock navigation bar with a smaller (height-wise), 36 DPI version.
Black Dash-style Softkeys - Replaces the stock navigation bar buttons with black, dash-style ones.
Blue Stock Softkeys - Replaces the stock navigation bar buttons with blue-colored ones.
Carrier Text Replacement - Replaces the carrier text on the lockscreen and pulldown notification shade with "Galaxy Nexus".
Extended Battery Framework Mods - Improve accuracy of battery level reporting for those using extended batteries.
2100 mAh (with Carrier Text Replacement mod)
3050 mAh
3800 mAh
5900 mAh (with No CRT-off Animation mod)
Grey Battery Percentage - Enables display of the current battery percentage in the status bar with grey-colored font.
InmanMod - A combination of the 2100 mAh battery, no CRT-off animation, carrier text, 36 DPI nav. bar, and white zenyth softkeys mods.
No CRT-off Animation - Removes the stock, default CRT-like screen off animation.
White Zenyth-style Softkeys - Replaces the stock navigation bar buttons with white, zenyth-style ones.
Universal Mods & Downloads
These mods have been compiled by myself, sometimes in conjunction with the modders above, to always work with any version of the ROM (but not necessarily any device). Therefore, you don't have to worry so much about these being up-to-date because they should always work. If that is ever not the case, simply PM me and we'll get it fixed This section also includes some other Verizon Galaxy Nexus related downloads such as the latest radios and bootloader. You can use these according to the installation instructions in the OP.
Universal Mods
AOSP Web Browser (for Android 4.4) - Installs the AOSP web browser with Chrome bookmark syncing for Android 4.4.
DSP Manager (for Android 4.4) - Installs the DSP Manager app along with the audio libs and configs important to running the service, allowing you to customize the audio equalizer of your device. At the moment, certain apps on Android 4.4 do not work with the modular DSP service.

No GApps "Add-on" Zip
Some people don't like the way ShinyROM includes its own GApps. Flash this zip directly after the ROM and it will strip out most of the included GApps so that you may use the preferred GApps of your choosing. This will leave the core GApps (Store, Services, etc.) as well as any others required for basic functionality (Keyboard, Camera, Launcher, Dialer, etc.) since there are none of the AOSP counterparts included.
This is particularly handy for GApps packages that try to measure the free space and may fail to install if it feels there isn't enough room.
Enjoy!
Finally! Boom!

No worries! I actually love having the GApps included, but a lot of people were fussing about it in Sesme's port thread so I thought I'd help out.
Also if you're interested, on xda here we've got a complete maguro radio thread and CWM thread I maintain:
[REF] [RADIO] [GSM] Galaxy Nexus GT-i9250 Baseband Collection & Discussion
[RECOVERY] [GN] [GSM] ClockworkMod Recovery Official + Nightlies [Flashable Zip]
:good:
Is this rom lagging for anyone? Right after I flash it I can't even pass the Setup Wizard ..
Just awesome man! The port was already the best ROM. Pure stock, and I can tell you, it's blazing fast!

Awesome! Exactly what we need.
Giving this ROM a go.
Nice to see its official now. But on post #1 there are some reference to rootzwiki as xda and I know its probably a copy+paste thing that's why. Just pointing it out

Are those battery Extended Battery Framework zips compatible with maguro? I downloaded them from toro's RootzWiki thread a while ago and they were giving me a bootloop
Also, can I use them with other ROMs?

I've read that it's not possibile to flash ROM over a stock 4.3 rom.
Someone can confirm this? Also if I wipe /cache partition and Dalvik cache?
Investigating it seems that zip file contains an update script which only overwrites the entire /system mount point.
So, what are the consequences of updating ROM over a stock 4.3 rom?

Hi, latest Sony 14.4.A.0.108 rom for you!
Features is inside screenshoots. Rom is rooted, have superuser, su, busybox...etc, just simple install propertly and enjoy rom! Bye!
Download old stable rom (update 5 is required after installing this rom!):
Download new stable rom - final rom (03.jul.2015) (do not install any update with this rom!!!):
- https://mega.co.nz/#!AcxllSZa!dO-qrrgWuXeDrU4p_jmpkawZwz5fI83lWiHfD-KrjWQ MD5: 6a5e5de79ad7120db63fc9eb57974450
This final rom is one which I am runing daily, I have removed some boatwares but not all, removed only some which iritating me. So if you need some apks which is missing, just download from here -> https://github.com/munjeni/D5503_14.4.A.0.108/tree/master/system and add to the zip byself! This rom have some optimisations and fixes, dual recovery, cwm munjeni and twrp, to enter cwm hold volume down when blue light start blinking, or hold volume up for twrp when blu start blinking. I recomend linheart+row and my favorite theme aka black theme munjeni which is included only in final rom aka this one. This rom contain kernel from 157 with kernel modules and firmwares from 157... etc, in short my favorite rom dumped directly from my phone using romgen tool, so its tested and definitely stable, just install it right and carefully and enjoy!
* If you have root problems or problems remounting system rw, install this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61696951&postcount=531
* If your choice was "debloat rom" trought aroma installer, I have marked google contact & calendar sync in removal list as bloatware, but if you realy want to debloat your rom but kiping google contact & calendar sync you must install folowing zip package -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=61894795&postcount=573
How to install:
- first of all you must have your phone updated oficialy to the bootloader, baseband... etc and it must be from 108 rom (your choice how you can do it, but thats needed!) before you gona install our rom! You no need to be rooted since rom is for booth locked and unlocked bootloader!
- wipe data factory reset
- format system partition
- install rom
- install update.1 -> (this fix portrait retouch and give you China Photo editor) NOT REQUIRED ANYMORE !
- install update.2 -> https://mega.co.nz/#!NI4UkAgD!XPGU4WhDsfRXquzaL1wmQDaees-PrtF8SBpIOZgdn_Y (this revert dialog and toast style to stock one ;; fix for timeshift video) NOT REQUIRED ANYMORE !
- install update.3 -> https://mega.co.nz/#!lAZSUISa!09ca_GvuDHh8r9-5M3aAhc3TiDOePj26n79aa7VkTds (unhiden daydream option in settings menu) NOT REQUIRED ANYMORE
- install update.4 -> https://mega.co.nz/#!4JJFTYjZ!IjQsoCdJhSFBZFs_hyQrEHudBkaCZZfiyhG4-wHm7sc (usb serial support and ftdi sio ; new task killer) NOT REQUIRED ANYMORE
- install update.5 -> https://mega.co.nz/#!1FoUkLZB!SEpBPmiV7GC6D0CeXdej-neqwOsfMelrFTxY5teKFp8 (ntfs support) INSTALL ONLY IF YOU HAVE old stable rom, do not use with final rom!!!
- do not replace default busybox which comming with this rom since you will broke root!
For best experience I have compiled Lionheart cpu governor, you can use them in combination with row iosched to get very smooth ui and very good baterery life for daily usage! I have runing rom 13 hours + 1 hour with phone usage and have almost 88 percent batery power remain
4k is not working and allso I not going to get them working!(I have removed 4k from camera widget). I sugest you to not use any external camera mod since our one is totaly stock based and I have not replaced anything related to stock camera, every camera part is carefully patched, so if you want any camera mod than do not go here to report something which probably will not work after your replace or you get battery drain fast after replace! Allso if you have installed something which not comming from our rom than allso please do not report anything! Everything is tested and everything working very good!
If somebody have problems installing rom (error 7 during installation):
- Remove first 2 lines (ASERT) from updater-script than try again
Hoorraaayy, you are back.
Thanks for the update man, will download and try ASAP,
Also I was looking for an update for multiboot, that would be amazing.
Thanks for your great work, and looking forward to seeing more of you
Probably not since my microphone is broken and probably I must get new model soon (z3 mini)...soon. In any way I am sharing the best rom to all
Thanks for sharing this ROM, looks very promising!! Is it based on the brand new Sony firmware 14.4.A.0.108 from August, or on the one that is available since June?
With best regards, maris
Yes, D5503_14.4.A.0.108_latest one from august
Nice to have you back, keep cool

FAQ
Q: "What home launcher does this ROM use?" - @DrNO[PL]
A: It uses the ReLaunch launcher.
Q: "Where are the downloadable files?" - @kwyrt
A: Since this thread is a DevDB project, the downloads are in a separate page, which is accessible through a link in the ribbon above the OP.
Q: "Does this project use Android 2.3?" - @dorfd1
A: No, it doesn't - the only reason the 1st OP says it does is because 2.3.x is the lowest Android version allowed in the DevDB system. This ROM uses Android 2.1.
Q: "Will multiple languages be added to this ROM?" - @DrNO[PL]
A: No, they won't, because, believe it or not, it's already a stock feature - you just need root to access it! Here's how:
1. Install the app Termimal Emulator from the Market.
2. Open it, and enter the command
Code:
su
The line should now have a "#" on the far left.
3. Enter the command
Code:
am start -n com.android.settings/.DevelopmentSettings
...which launches a hidden settings menu.
4. Tap "Locale Picker[English (United States)]".
5. Choose your language, and enjoy!
Q: "Is this ROM rooted?" - @youxiaojie
A: Yes, it is.
Q: "Are you guys working on an updated ROM that uses 2.3?" - @frap129
A: No, because as of now nobody has been able to update the Android version on the Nook Touch device. 2.1 is the version we are developing for. UPDATE - It's looking like Gingerbread and beyond may be possible for the NST, so the new answer to your question is YES.
Can you post some screenshots?
Which homeapp is used? I'm asking as the one in [NST/NSTG][ROM] Tweaked Modded ROM [Feb16] is restarting / falling into refresh loop with some of my books, which is a bit annoying

No, it's not - the DevDB options just don't allow any Android version below 2.3.x. It's really Android 2.1, just like every other Nook thing.

Just flashed and already like it from the start. New, nice pre-boot and shutdown screens and boot animation. Home is just what I searched for. Let me test it for a day or two. I'll let you know about ups and downs, pros and cons... Review comes afterwards
1st question, is there a way to make app drawer to just display icons in 4 columns (with labels or not) instead of 2-column short-list?
2nd are you going to include additional languages similar to HERE?

Would be nice, but that's not a show stopper.
Rom still did not crash, launcher resterted only once, but it can be my fault. Works smooth and fast. Good job!
Yet I have not opened even one book :silly: lol
In the mean time I've added some, in my opinion, bugs.

I might look into swapping the settings.apk and merging the functionality in framework-res.apk in that mod you posted. You might be able to flash that mod straight over this, but you'll lose a lot of the theming that @thenookieforlife3 originally added, notably the status bar.
does it be rooted , support init.d and app2sd?

It is rooted.
It does not support init.d yet, but we're working on it.
If App2SD works on any other regular rooted Nook, it works just fine for this ROM, too.
By the way, next time, please don't quote the OP, and save all of us from ESD (Excessive Scrolling Disorder). Also, please edit your post and delete the [quote][/quote] tags and everything in between them.

Are you guys working on compiling an updated ROM? I noticed all the changed files are included in the source other than the device tree, so I may try compiling 2.3, and if that works, higher.
