[Q] How to install the leaked Gingerbread /. - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got an Orange branded phone. Unlocked, de-branded and with a gold card now. Currently running android 2.2 with software version: 2.29.405.2
I came to know about this official android 2.3 leak from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1035402
I downloaded Bravo_Gingerbread_hTC_Asia_WWE_3.06.707.0_Radio_32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08_test_183945 .zip
I do not wish to root my phone. I would prefer the HTC ROM only.
How do I install on my phone the update i downloaded on my PC ?

You have to ROOT to install that version.

Root or wait for proper Official version.

Your must root your phone to install the HTC Gingerbread Asia Rom. You should really root your phone :
- Root it with Unrevoked
- Put the zip of the rom on your memory card
- Install Rom Manager
- Flash the clockwork recovery with Rom Manager
- Install the zip
- Enjoy
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App

Signature Verification error
I get Signature Verification Failed.
I rooted with unrevoked.
What do i do now '?

Download a custom version based on that ROM as that is the untouched test ROM. Try mine if you wanna taster

[Q] Trying to install Froyo FOTA to my Unrevoked Evo and it's giving me an error help

I have my HTC EVO Unrevoked on Version 2.1 I only to use Wifi-Tether, now an update came FOTA and when I try to install it starts but hang out need some help plezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Unrevoked gives problems with the latest OTA update. Search for OTA_Supersonic_3.26.651.6-1.47.651.1_releasem24cfnusi9dsrr6i.zip . Rename it to update.zip and put it in your EVO's SD card. Turn off the phone and boot into recovery, install the update.zip and that will do the job. Warning: It eliminates root privileges.
I rooted through Unrevoked and had the same problem. I just installed the stock rom from shipped-roms.com and did the OTA that way. I really wish I just flashed to a custom ROM instead.
If you want to keep root (if you even have it fully) you will need to install one of these ROMs in the dev section. You may want to try another root method and then update to 2.2 with one of these ROMs. You will lose your WiFi tether (free of course) if you update to the FOTA update... for now.

[Q] Anyone help: Cannot install OTA ROM after root

I have rooted my Desire in 2.1. In fact, I wanna to unroot it and install the OTA 2.2. However, I can't find the RUU of CHT HK version of 2.1 but I found the CHT HK version of zip ROM. So, I can only flash the zip file of CHT HK version, and then apply the OTA 2.2 update in the phone by wifi. After downloading the OTA 2.2 ROM and reboot, the phone can't update due to invalid signature of the file. Then, I tried to install the downloaded zip file in the sdcard:/download directory of the OTA 2.2. The error assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko") is prompted, and the installation is aborted.
Anyone can help.

Issue with boot loop trying to reroot 2.3 with S-OFF

Here is what I did
Started with 2.2 rooted S-OFF
1. Applied stock recovery
2. Took OTA
3. Booted into 2.3
4. Flashed clockwork
6. Flashed superuser
7. Stuck in boot loop
The only thing I can think messed it up is the superuser app I flashed. It says it is for 2.2 I though it would work. I am going to flash a Rooted 2.3 ROM.
Is their an updated 2.3 gingerbread compatible superuser app that I can flash onto a stock rom????

Just flash a rooted Rom. It will already have the SU app. No need to flash it. I suggest against taking OTA in the future though. Just flash a rooted version of it and save a bunch of risks.

[Q] Installing new official rom will unroot?

Will installing the new 2.3.3 ROM for Desire from HTC (http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads) remove my root/S-OFF? Or should I go with something like this instead of the official one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1040121
you don't install the update 2.3.3 because this rom is for developers, and remove root because the hboot change to 1.02.001. If you want to have root install rom
Just use this one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1200261
It's as close to stock as you can get and it's rooted and still allows S-OFF

choosing the correct RUU for my device

Good morning Developers and community
As i'm completely new to HTC devices, flashing, rooting, and so on ... i've got a short question for you all
Actually i'm on an Austrian (A1) branded and simlocked HTC Desire HD with a Vodafone_fr branding (yes the provider uses that *** branding)
Android Version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense: 2.1
Baseband: 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M
Kernel: 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb
Build: 2.50.163.3 CL123205 release-keys
Software: 2.50.163.3
As i want to get rid of al these annoying pre-installed trial apps and as i want to recieve OTA updates in time and not when the provider is ready to send them (if they do ...) i decided to root the device by using the
new aahk tool to try to get 2.3.4 or higher for my DHD somehow
This aahk worked perfect for my device, no problems at all and i could get rid of all these apps, freeing some memory in my device
As this tool roots, Radio s-off, sets super cid, removes the simlock on this phone
i'm currently not able to get ota updates from anywhere (if i got that right from all the threads i read)
Now i was thinking about flashing the device with a htc rom and found this one on shipped-roms:
RUU_Ace_Gingerbread_S_HTC_WWE_2.50.405.2_Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2_release_199042_signed.exe
The questions i have to you all are:
- is this the correct RUU for my device
- if i flash the device with an RUU, i'm i able to get OTA updates or do i have to set it to Radio S-ON manually again.
- if so - how ?
- is the simlock still removed with an RUU flash ?
i don't care if i have root access or not as i only want to have a clean installation without any provider c**p on my device
Thank you all in advance for your answers
Greetings from Austria

- yes 2.50.405.2 is the latest official RUU
- You don't need to be S-ON to get OTA
- This RUU doesn't contain anything for Simlock (as it is operator specific)
Have you flashed a custom recovery like 4EXT or CMW? If not then flashing it will help you to flash between different custom ROMs..

Wow thank you so much for your quick reply!
Hm good question. I just used the aahk tool to get rid of the sim lock and to get root access.
I did not install any rom so far.
The tool also set a SuperCID. Don't know if i matters or not.
According to the tool, the clockworkmod is installed and i can see it in the bootloader and i already did a backup of my rom to the SD card.
(go to recovery -> ClockworkMod v5.0.2.0)
But will the CWM still remain after the RUU flash !?
Thought, that it will be overwritten and the phone un-rooted
thx again !
Good news, if u already have clockwork recovery installed than no need to flash the ruu as it will overwrite recovery. You can either try my GB Sense 3.0 or i can give u an optimized / rooted 2.50.x build if u want

Trying to summarize:
- OTA does not work with both of them if i got it right
- if I flash with 2.50.x RUU build from HTC i can re-root this build again using the aahk tool (should work with 2.50) and i have an unbranded rootet DHD without any provider apps again.
- if I take your optimized build i don't need to re-root it (what's the "optimized" part in your build? )
- if I take GB Sense 3.0 then I have a "brand new" rooted? DHD and I can go back to the rom i currently have.
any recommendations?
If u flash 2.50 via ruu it'll remove custom recovery & rooting. U'll still get OTA with it.
If u flash a pre-rooted / optimized 2.50 build, ur custom recovery will remain & u'll get OTA..
If u flash GB Sense 3.0 since it is a leaked version so i don't think any chances of OTA, however u can flash any rom u want..
