[Q] Nexus Torch app and DHD - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I used to have this very good app on my N1 for using the LED flash as torch light, what it does have more than any other torch app is the ''brighter'' LED option that double the light intensity of the LED.
I want to know if it works with DHD and specially this option with the 2 leds

The DHD comes with a stock Flashlight app that uses both LEDs.
It's called "Flashlight"

There is a "high brightness" setting in the CM7 torch app, which is can blind you in daylight (Very fun to do ).
It is not for long term use and is to be used at a risk of burning the LEDs.
This guy provides the app as a addon in ARHD ROM. It can only be used through pulldown menu though.
Hope this helps.

Can you please try the high brightness of the nexus torch app please?
I want to decide between Desire and DHD, and those small details can make the difference

[Request] Lower brightness from led flash

Since froyo we have had the flashlight app that has 3 levels of brightness. Is there anyway to change the brightness of the flash when taking a picture?

found this a while back and I've been using it with no issues

I remeber a while ago I had an app that could turn off one of the flash LEDs. I can't seem to find it now and don't remeber the name. Any help??? I think it would help in night picture taking and avoid washed out pictures.
That's a great app, or at least a great idea for an app if the creator took it down, I would love to have that, and have the option of choosing which led to turn off, one for better lighting and two not to wear one out faster than the other, and the best of all make the flash less as bright.

[Q] Screen Brightness

hi, i'm using HTC Desire HD with leedroid rom and kernel.
i read that to save more battery, i must turn down the screen brightness to a low level. but i want to use the auto brightness function but sometimes it isnt accurate to the environment(sorry for bad english). uhm any tweaks or mods that has customized auto brightness? thanks in advance guys
I found that the best thing to do is to do it manualy by using the brightness level app on the market which has a slider on it.
I use Tasker to set the screen brightness to levels defined by me in response to ambient light levels. Takes some experimentation to get it working right, but it's worth it.
Or then you can switch to CM7 as it has all screen adjustments built in the settings i.e automatic screen dimming level adjustments, different levels etc etc.

[Q] [APP] CM7 Torch on Sense?

I was wondering if any of you amazing devs out there are able to port the Torch app from CM7 to function with Sense ROMs?
I love the high brightness option from Torch, unfortunately I can't get it to run on the Gingersense leak. I extracted the Torch.apk file from the CM7.0.3 zip file, and it installs and runs fine, but it FCs when I try to turn it on.
EDIT:
Perhaps it's because I'm using the stock Gingersense kernel... What do you guys think?
Sense Flashlight has 3 settings, the third being very close to High Power on CM7's Torch, remember the High Power will damage your LEDS and can actually burn the plastic if used for too long!
I think the torch app is actually an app from the Market that Cyanogen "ported?" and added in, I would double check the about settings in the Torch app to see if it leads you anywhere.
The Sense flashlight's 3rd setting is nowhere even close to the high brightness setting in the CM7 Torch. It MAY be the same level as normal brightness in Torch.
The Nexus Torch app in the market runs and works just fine except high brightness does not. It seems to, but it doesn't turn on the LEDs.
I can only assume its because the stock HTC kernel doesn't have the coding in it to elevate the brightness of the LEDs.
Besides, it's not like I'm using it for 5 minutes at a clip or anything, I'm talking a couple seconds max. I'm not worried about damaging the LEDs at all with using high brightness.
I want to revive this thread to ask if anyone knows how to edit the app perhaps or if a separate kernel could be used to make the CM7 torch work on sense. I want to include the torch app on my ROM instead of the stock flashlight app because of the brightness and the fact that the flashlight app included with stock doesn't have a widget. This fall I will be taking my first Java class so I will hopefully be more equipped to work on things like this but for now I am completely in the dark... any suggestions??
Torch has hooks into the framework meaning it's not going to work on other rom without that code. The flashlight app from the market worked for me when I'm not on cm.

[Q] DHD Flashlight as a reading light.

Hey peeps!
Question First: Has anyone else found a LED flashlight app that works well on the DHD or Inspire that can dim the LED right down?
I want to use the LED on the back as a reading light so I don't have to drain the battery by using the screen but its simply too bright.
I am running an Inspire 4G on Revo HD 6.3.1. The stock flashlight app works well with the 3 levels avaliable and I don't want to kill the LEDs by over running them.
There are tonnes of flashlight apps out there, some using the led and some not. The ones I have researched either don't have a brightness adjustment on the LED or attempt to burn a hole in a sheet of paper.
The only app that I have found which relates to this is call "Reading Light" and is just an adjustable brightness grey screen.
If this has been discussed before please let me know and i'll request this thread be closed. I couldn't find anything regarding this aspect of the topic.
Regards,
Akida
I don't think this has come up before. Its a good request. I'd be interested in something like this.
Bump
Bump for confirmation of possibility please!
Btw .. how often am I allowed to bump? I couldn't find it in the forum rules.
CM 7.1 has a application called Torch which has two light levels. The dim one seems like it would be perfect for reading (it only uses 1 of the 2 flash LEDs). The bright level is insanely bright (much brighter than the Sense flashlight app).
There is an app on the market called Torch, but I don't think its the same one that comes with CM 7.1.

Hey that sounds like its worth a shot. Has anyone extracted the app from CM 7.1? I'm going to ask them for permission anyway.
Thanks for the info.

Well there is a flashlight app built into the stock touchwiz rom called assistive light. Go to Widgets and it should be in there.

He is looking for one that has "Different Levels" of brightness the Assistive Light is just on or off.
HTC had some nice stuff.. Flash Light etc..
I have a modded htc flash light app I made for phones with larger screens. All I need to do is port it for the s3. I'll work on it.

While it doesn't have brightness (Which I think only worked because of the dual LEDs on my OG evo) there is a great flashlight app in the market called "TeslaLED".
Not only is it a standard on/off flashlight, but it has several other modes:
Strobe Light with adjustable timing
Hold to Light option (Hold the screen to turn on light, let go to turn off)
Send Morse Code (with or without sound). Just type a message and the light will flash correctly.
Non-LED flashlight (uses screen itself to illuminate)
Police-mode (fun little red/blue flashing screen to mimic police lights).
and a few other modes...
It also integrates well with many other apps (WidgetLocker, Notification Toggle, etc..)
Again, it doesn't have a brightness setting, but it has EVERYTHING else you might need
Motorola Droid light also works in GS3

Thanks guys...like Rick_v said looking for one with different levels...
