HI
I flashed CM7.0.2.1 the latest stable version. everything was going well.
I changed a setting on ADWex i was using. It forced close now everytime i reboot it force closes immediately so i cant even change the theme or switch back to launcher pro. I finally had everything set nice. so I backed it up and restored to skyraider 3.5 so i could use the phone. before i start guessing and bury myself deeper any suggestions I use ROM Manager and would like to not have to spend hours on this. any help would be great.
Thanks
What did you change on ADW?
Is ADW on your phone storage or SD?

questionable answer
the ADWx is where the rom goes to. honestly i am not sure i believe the sd storage. as far as the setting i believe it actually a change of theme. it was done on the ex version of ADW not the one that CM comes with if that is any help
fixed
I was able to get to settings, uninstalled adwex and all is well, until i get bored again and start playing around.
Thank you for the effort!!
Pretty sure ADW needs to be on your internal phone storage to work properly.

Agreed. I remember when I first started playing with Apps2Sd I put ADW on the SD and it was acting strange. I don't think launchers work well from the SD.

Are there any big differences between RC2 and RLS1? I have reviewed the changelog and don't see any major changes. I'm not having any issues with RC2 and wondering if I really need to update. Thanks

No not really, the only reason I would is because its a stable release. Not just a candidate anymore.

Agreed and for some reason, RLS-1 is a tad faster than RC-2. You can boot into recovery, wipe cache & dalvik and then create a nandroid backup of just your data & your sdext (if you have your apps stored on an ext3 partition). Afterwards, if you decide to flash RLS-1, all you have to do after booting to your new home screen is skip the sign-in process, remove the default widgets from all 7 screens and then reboot back into recovery and restore the nandroid you just made of your data & sdext. When you boot to your homescreen, you will find that all of your apps and data are present and your homescreens are as they were when you had RC-2 installed. DO NOT DO THIS if you're going to from RC-2 to RSL-1 G-mode.
Thanks for the info. I haven't partitioned my SD card yet. Why has this Rom gone to the partitioning.

You do NOT have to partition your card to use RLS-1, however, I do not know how many apps and games you will be installing on your device. The CM A2SD script is built-in to Synergy so that it auto-detects an ext3 partition and cause your apps to automatically be stored there upon installation. It's beneficial in freeing up internal storage.

Thanks, i went ahead and partitioned. It only makes sense to have the extra internal room. Thanks for ur help.

Hey guys, I had a quick question on the RC2 God Mode Synergy Rom.
Is there anyway to turn the landscape mode off or flash something to turn it off so it doesn't switch between vertical and horizontal when I'm at my main home screen?
I like to keep the landscape mode available when I use the web browser, games, and certain apps, but the auto rotation when I'm at the home screening is kind of a pain esp. if you are moving around.
How does A2sd work with the stock evo class 2 card? Saw some posts that apps are slow on the slower stock sd cards.

I'm not sure with RLS1+, but there is a flashable zip that disables landscape mode for RLS1.

I have a 16GB class 2 card and I'm very satisfied with it and the speed in which my stuff is accessed. Synergy RLS-1 along with the DTA2SD zip that is found in the Synergy Updater has my device operating smoothly & responsive.

Is there an App that saves me the trouble of re-setting up my homescreens everytime i flash a new rom/kernal? I feel I spend alot of time just re-doing everything.
+1 to this! Would like a simple app or process that does only this.
Titanium Backup does this, no? I just flashed AOKP and used TB to restore all apps and data and it put all my folders and widgets back in place.

From what I understood restoring all "data" can be dangerous because some things don't play nice with other roms. Also, back on my OG Droid, I would restore all apps & data and i would have to start putting everything back together for about 30 minutes before it would remember to place everything back. If i let it sit there it wouldn't restore it though.
It can be restored if you use a aftermarket launcher such as ADW Launcher EX, GO Launcher, LauncherPro, etc. If you use the stock launcher then no.
At most with these aftermarket ones, you'll just need to redo the widgets and that's it.
Mmmm people seem to be in love with nova launcher, maybe ill give it a try thanks!
You can with Titanium Backup. Just backup the home screen app manually before flash. Then restore the home screen app data only.

Hello forum, I just joined today mainly for the issue I'm going through right now. I have a Motorola Triumph from Virgin Mobile that runs Froyo 2.2. Lately, I've been getting low storage space notifications and it was driving me nuts. So I went on Playstore and downloaded Data2sd and to be honest, I really didn't know what I was doing. I launched the app, granted the superuser permission, and I created a 300mb partition onto my sd card. Then I selected data on the menu option and started selecting all the movable directories to move into my sd card. Everything seemed fine since I was keep getting the "moving succeeded" message, only until I rebooted my phone. That's where my problem is. I noticed my wallpaper was gone and the android launcher was keep crashing, not letting me do ANYTHING at all. I'm so frustrated and I really dont know what went wrong. Please help! I don't wanna reset my phone because I dont want to lose all of my important contacts! I apologize in advance if this has a simple solution, I'm still kinda a noob at modding android phones. Thanks.

If the contacts are the only problem, i believe you can backup them via ADB. Also, try uninstalling Data2sd. If you want a guide ask me

Nevermind, i got it fixed! all i did was somehow manage to open my browser and download home++ beta launcher. Through that, i was able to back up my contacts and whatever I needed, and did a factory reset. That fixed the problem! now I've found a better app than data2sd and that is links2sd. That works like a charm thanks for taking your time to help

So, I've been flashing roms since February, and I am starting to see several random issues all of a sudden.
On a fresh flash of a rom that I have used for a LONG time, I suddenly have force closers on the Weather Unlock animation. My phone reboots randomly (I posted about this issue in rigid detail a few months back). I tried a different Sense 3.5 rom, and I suddenly cannot change certain settings. So, what's going on?
I've also noticed this strange behavior. When I flash from rom to rom, occasionally it will either have the background of the rom before, or the background of the last time that I flashed the same rom. I wonder if "footprints" are being left behind somehow.
And of course, I triple wipe everything, sooo...any opinions/ideas/help?
Using Smelkus 4.3 recovery, by the way.

Remove everything from your SD and format or partion, then if your still having issues go to recovery - other - fix permission and see of that helps. What size and class is your SD?

Well the second thing about the wallpaper that is because you have it set to backup your settings. If you go to settings>privacy check backup then uncheck automatic restore then uncheck backup. So everytime you flash a rom skip through all the start up menus and do what I said above. Having that backup thing checked is linked to your gmail so whenever you signed in it would automatically restore your previous settings

It's a 32gb card, and I don't remember the class. I'll edit my post in a few with that info. But I had those problems before and after my recent format/partitioning of my card. It IS less frequent after the partition, though.

Wow...never thought about that. Strange how it was always checked, but NEVER worked up till recently. It also restores my installed apps, but at a slim chance of success. Usually, I flash, link my email initially, and nothing happens. I've only sren this implemented properly on JB roms, regardless of device.

Are you using a2sd? Anything above a class four and over a certain gig will cause issues. I'm assuming yours is a class ten and that could be some of your issue.

The class 10 shouldn't be a problem, but anything more than 16GB I think may be the problem. Wasn't the evo made only for a maximum of 4/8GB??
Also buy a recognised brand (e.g. Sandisk) to reduce any problems.
I have a Toshiba 16GB Class 10 and so far has played nicely. *touch wood*

I think that the Evo was made for a max of 16gb. But it certainly seems like my sd card is the problem. My original 8gb card became corrupted when my phone dropped (yes, it made me cringe, too...it fell pretty hard...), and I thought a 32gb card was the best idea I ever had. Apparently not. Sucks...but I'm not getting a new card.

I am using a2sd. However, my card wasn't always partitioned, and I had some rebooting issues before the card was ever modified. I am not disregarding what you are saying, but I think the problem goes beyond a2sd. I will confirm, however, that I have had more problems from the time I partitioned my card. But the benefits far outweigh the issues. For example, I LOVE the fact that I can flash a new rom and use Titanium Backup to Batch Install all of my apps without starting and stopping to move them to the sd card for more space.
I use an 32 gig class 4 SanDisk and have never had any problems with it. And on another note, if you're partitioned, when you flash a rom, and are on smelkus just do superwipe and clear temp. Files (aka cache, dalvik cache, and temp. Files) then when you flash your new rom all your apps will still be there as that partition hasn't been wiped. As long as the rom you use supports a2sd. All you have to get back is app data. a nice feature that I love, and have never had a problem with so far.

When you have more than one launcher, other than freezing one in titanium backup, how do you make your phone open 1 launcher all the time instead of popping up the choice of more than 1?
It keeps telling me to go into a different file etc... then go to all,...can't figure out what to do then
Please advise

If you want to keep them from appearing, you can use titanium back up to freeze the other launchers. This should also help free up resources.
