EVO Q&A forum tries to push a download - About xda-developers.com

This happens when I'm reading in the Evo 4G Q&A forum. I'll read a topic/thread, then hit the back button on my browser (Opera 11.01), and a file download window will pop up, reading a different file name every time, but always from view.atdmt.com. I'm able to cancel it each time, but it happens nearly every time I try to "back out" of a thread. If I'm not mistaken (which I very well may be,) atdmt is related to ads? Maybe an ad not loading properly or something?
I've searched the forums, but didn't see anyone else with this problem. Like I said, I can cancel the DL, so I'm not too worried, but I was wondering if anyone has had this happen, and just thought the mods might want to know about it.
(By the by, my machine isn't infected with anything. I've run a full virus scan since it first started happening a couple of weeks back.)
Thanks, all.

A quick Google search shows it's probably malware on your PC. Have you scanned your PC for malware using something like Malwarebytes?

I've run all-out Norton 360 a few times, but I'm downloading & running Malwarebytes right now. I'll report back with results. Thanks for the suggestion.

Well, I ran Malwarebytes, and it found one problem in the registry (which I had it fix). Rebooted, opened the forum back up, and for the first couple of threads, everything was fine, then boom, another file download. Only difference this time is it says it's from ad.doubleclick.net. Again, I can cancel it, so I'm not too worried. Guess it's something I'm going to have to live with.
Thanks again for the advice, anyway.

These domains are safe but shouldn't be trying to download anything.
Does it affect you in another browser?

After futzing with the forum in Firefox, I can't seem to recreate the problem. Must be Opera having the problem with something. I just thought it was kinda weird that it only happens in that particular forum.
Soooo, yeah. I'm too much of an Opera junkie to flip around browsers when I want to read that, so it's something I'm going to have to deal with. Maybe it'll be fixed the next time Opera does a little update (fingers crossed).

Google Navigation and other crashes/freezing apps (CDMA, Sprint)

I clean installed (RAR file) the Blazn build w/ sound a couple of days ago. Now I having a lot more stability issues and Navigation freezes up every time I open it. I have searched through google and on here, and I see people with the same problems with the new build but no solutions or acknowledgement that multiple users are having issues like this. Here is what I did.
I go into google maps to insure I have a GPS fix. It finds me within 2 meters or so. I then go into navigation. It doesn't give me the location error because I have a GPS lock. I then type in the address I want to go to. I have the bar at the bottoms saying "Getting GPS" or something like that. In the middle of the screen it has the "getting directions" or whatever it says, but the little spinning circle animation freezes up. If I click to try to get to the menu. Android tells me it is not responding and I can Force Close or Wait. I force close. Of course Android opens it back up. I then hear the first voice prompt of where to go on my directions. When I click on Navigation to get back into it. It shows me the next turn, but freezes up again. This will go on forever until I force maps and navigation to close manually for good by going into settings and force stopping the processes.
I thought maybe it was the Blazn build, so I renamed the boot directory to something else and clean installed (using the RAR file) the stock build. While it is more stable and I don't get as many random crashes of apps and processes, I still get the same problem with Navigation.
I also have tried to format and attempted to clean install both builds and still have the same problem.
Is there any Sprint customer able to get navigation to work and not crash? I am thinking this is a CDMA/Sprint problem only, and it has something to do with the app accessing the sound, or at least that is my hypothesis, because it was working in all prior builds up to this one.
Any suggestions or thoughts?

I love you guys... I have lurked here for months and xda-developers for years. I love how you post toward people that don't post all the time. You treat them like idiots, crazy people or whiners.
I am not freaking out. I am not a newb. Is this not the place to post problems with the xandroid project? I am posting a problem that I have not seen posted on here before. I am not complaining about the usual stuff that still isn't working. I understand it is a work in progress. I was just posting a new problem that has come up since the sound started working. I did this so that potential programmers will see it, and to also see and get feedback on whether other Sprint users or other carrier's users are having the same problem, or if theirs is working fine.

Thats what we are known for .. but think about this.. where would the dev process be without us ? lol ..So sorry for treating you like one of the crazies ..
My advice is to hit up PPC geeks since most of the cdma community is there. Fyi, im not involved with xdandroid. Just with the kernel development and Those have really nothing to do with one another. However we do cross paths from time to time. Also dont be afraid to joint the irc chat for xdandroid. People there will be able to give you a better idea of whats up.

Pages on the website are stuck in a constant reload loop.

Ever since the big website update most pages on here are not constantly reloading over and over. I have to hurry and click a link to view a thread or make a post before the pages reloads again. Anyone else having this issue, and is their a solution for it?
Using Firefox 13.0.1 + ABP + NoScript.
Sounds like a buggy plug in or extension in your browser. Disable them all and then add back one by one until you find the culprit.
Doesn't seem to be doing it anymore.
I've heard of this issue when members are using the NoScript plugin. If you allow xda-developers.com it should load the page without issue. I've been trying to track why it will reload when using NoScript but haven't figured it out yet. Let me know anyone determines why that happens and I'll fix it.

I think the main culprit is the googletagservices.com ... allowing only that one in NoScript stopped the constant reloading of the pages at xda Forums ... for me at least.

I do believe you're right. Earlier today the problem returned, probably because I have been viewing direct thread urls/bookmarks rather than navigating the forum lately. I kept trying to temp-allow scripts between page reloads one at a time but none worked...up to and including everything being allowed which I would imagine rules out NoScript. Just now I blocked everything but the main page script and the one you mentioned and that seems to have worked.
Edit: Nope, no dice. I went to the Captivate section and saw no sub-sections so I allowed and disallowed scripts until I found the one that displayed those sub-sections which is the Googleapis.com script. The second I allowed that(with googletagservices and main site script still allowed) the page went in to the infinite reload loop again. I tried to revoke the permissions of googletagservices and it made no difference.
When I revoke googleapis permission to run the page instantly stops reloading, but as mentioned above it delivers content necessary to the forum. In order to navigate the forum I need that script permitted and I have to race to click links before the page reloads.
I'm only an occasional visitor to XDA, and hit this problem today. I'm using Firefox with noscript. Allowing skimresources.com with noscript stopped the reload problem for me. I already had googleapis.com allowed.
Cheers,
Simon.
I just finished temporarily allowing 30+ scripts and the reload loop seems to have stopped. This website has more scripts than any website I have EVER seen in my time of having noscript installed.
Still can't figure out what script needs to be disabled so googleapis can stay enabled. With this ridiculous amount of scripts it'll take me an hour to figure it out. -_-
ETA: With all scripts running the pages are now constantly loading. Right now it's loading something to do with the liftdna script. My advice? Cut the scripts down to 5 or less because 30+ is unacceptable and problematic.
ETA2: Results from WebPageTest when I ran forum.xda-developers.com in it. Not sure if this has anything worthwhile in it.

If you allow *.xda-developers.com this should allow the proper scripts to run. The issue is that NoScript will allow forum.xda-developers.com to run, but not the CDN files hosted on another hostname.

The only script like that I'm seeing in the list is xda-developers.com with no prefix.
I'm not sure what I did yesterday but it has been stuck in a reload loop since then. The last time it did this it randomly started up again.
Reloading Issue Resolved
After reading this thread I had an idea. I figured that the constant reloading was definitely due to a script-like extension. Although, I'm on Chrome. The culprit for me was AutoPager. Disabled that and everything loads no problem. Hope this helps some people.
Still stuck in a re-load loop for me both in Firefox 16 and 17 while using no script. Haven't been able to find a working combination yet without disabling the plug-in completely.

Same here. Googleapis has to be loaded for full forum functionality, but it's what causes the reboot loop for me.
I've just gotten really good at hitting the stop button. Oddly enough, I'm not running no-script.
........
...........................................
This happens to me in Chrome (24.0.1312.14 beta-m) from time to time. A refresh / change of page usually makes it go away, but still annoying.
All extensions disabled and it still happens.
annoying
really annoying these constant reloads that are bugging me.
what an irony that a developer forum is not able to solve this :cyclops:
Still happening to me after disabling ABP and whitelisting XDA in noscript.
Same here...
Haven't been here for some time, but now that I upgraded FF to 17 (& have NS installed) the reloading problem happened to me too.
Use "Quick Theme Chooser" at the bottom of the page and change to "---- XDA 2013 Beta - 1024" theme.

Very weird bug on my phone

Hi everyone,
I'm new here, nice to meet you all. Last night I finally bought the LG G3, switched from an iPhone 5S.
Right away I flashed the phone to Lollipop that I found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/kdz-poland-lollipop-lg-g3-20a00-t2938255
And the phone really works flawlessly except for one weird (and pretty annoying) bug.
When I'm surfing using Chrome or the generic browser that comes with the phone, after visiting a few websites (music forums, basketball websites, etc., nothing out of the ordinary that I usually visit), for some reason the browser gets redirected to an app called "Porn Factory" and wants me to download it to my phone.
Now, I'm pretty sure this isn't normal behaviour. And I've read that people have experienced a similar issue with their phones, but I still haven't found a solution to stop this from happening.
I tried a fresh install of Chrome, deleted all data/cache and it still happens from time to time. My phone isn't loaded with a lot of apps, just a few social media apps basically as it's brand new. Also tried scanning it with a few of the anti-virus apps on Google Play and nothing.
So yeah, if anybody could give a tip or two on how to solve this I would be very greatful. This is my last resort. :-\
Other than this, I'm really enjoying the G3!
p.s. I do apologize if the thread isn't in the right section, I'm new here.
Try to do factory reset (wipe data)
Next time use G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum as it belongs to this section.
sounds like it is trying to tell you something
but seriously it doesn't sound like anyone else has that issue (or they think it's a good thing, who knows)
could it be an SD card issue?
Can you boot into safe mode by pressing+holding the reboot button?
So the only thing I can do is a complete factory reset? How certain are you guys this could work? I mean I could do it, but I just want to try everything else before wiping everything and starting again from scratch.
Really appreciate the help guys!

Yeah, I logged in with my google account the first time I launched it. I could clear all settings and re-install the app and not sign in when I launch it for the first time. If that's a viable solution?
The thing is this is also happening on the stock browser which came with the phone and I'm not signed into anything on there.
* Try other browsers.
*Try some free antivirus solution.
* Is this happening on the same connection (WiFI / Data)? Maybe it's something in the network / dns proxy, etc.
* Check your internet settings (ip, dns, etc.)
What you have there is either mallware or some other type of bad "virus". This can't be considered a but by a long shot.

Same thing is happening on my home Wifi, my friend's house wifi and my cellular data. On Chrome and the stock browser.
Well I've done a factory reset a few moments ago, will see if anything changes.
My best guess is either some bad configuration (with a mallware dns or whatever) or some mallware that does that intercepting / redirect. Bugs are crashes, things not working etc not porn redirection , that's what mallware does.

I get what you're saying, but how is it possible the phone got infected out of the box? I basically used it for a couple of hours before this started happening. Didn't surf any "bad" websites and installed only a couple of social apps.
there are lots of "ways" these get pushed and lots of crappy ads that you press and install things or reconfigure things that you wouldn't know. I don't know, I would start analyzing the apps looking at what's going on ...
don't want to be the devil's advocate but maybe one of your friends played a practical joke on you ... don't know these things tend to happen ...

Nobody has touched the phone except me since I got it.... and just finished the factory reset thing and set up a totally new device, opened chrome, surfed a few pages and it happens again.
This makes no sense.
try this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bitdefender.antivirus
don't know, out of ideas really
One thing you guys may not have considered also, is that the guy you got the kdz from might have tampered with it and put adware or malware into the file...
Now, I'm in no way saying he has (Everyone on here is very trustworthy), but from all the solutions that look to have failed in this thread, that could be the only option. You can always try a factory reset, as stated above and if it's just something on the ROM then it might fix it, but if it's in the KDZ itself, the only way to get rid of it would be to flash a different file.

Is there another 5.0 Lollipop KDZ file except the one I used? (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/kdz-poland-lollipop-lg-g3-20a00-t2938255)
At this point I'm willing to try everything as reseting the phone to factory settings also didn't help.
Id consider flashing the stock kdz again. But get it from here from someone known and start fresh.

Could you please point me to the file I need to download? I'm new to all this and really don't have an idea which file I need. I have the D855 version of the phone.
Thank you!
See if this is the what you're looking for.
Or here?
Or here?
Its not a bug, just webpage redirecting. Some website does that, some on both desktop and mobile version, some just one of them. One of the web page i visit lg-phone-firmware.com is one of them. In mobile version it always redirect to ads.
Viable solution is to try desktop view. Else try browser that support adblock.
Well it appears I got rid of this problem. Downgraded to KitKat, rooted my device and installed a custom ROM that I found here.
Thanks for the help guys!

[Q] NEED HELP!!! apache has ruined me

I recently read a post, I don't know where now, but it had to do with a hidden Trojan/malware. That was started in 2013... After reading, thinking back to when this really started affecting me Feb,26, 2015. I noticed some strange things mentioned in my service log from around that date. The post mentioned how it places a high tracker in some obscure app. Unfortunately I got the bug, BAD!!! So not knowing about this until I made it worse by plugging my phone into my computer... I'm sure you can figure out the rest. My everything is screwed now. My HTC one m7, is the only device I can use period, now. I tried to root, and couldn't. Then downloaded another root checker, and it said my device was already rooted. Is there anything I can do(on my knees begging). This has to be the worst inter-web experience ever. Any and all ideas, advice, similar problems, links, and time are greatly appreciated. Thank you

My phone is the only thing I can use... I have to install Windows again on my lap top... I have a new disc and what not. I'm just worried that he'll just take that over as well.. so phone, but I could use some tips in how to do it for the pc as well and if I'll ever be able to get my email. With my last ten years if web activity, Xbox one and everything else I had.... So pissed
for the phone, i recommend an ruu. in case that bug is somewhere on the phone waiting for another PC victim. It sucks that you will lose everything but its hard to figure out what file is infected and if you restore any file after format you run the chance of it happening again
as for the pc. if you can reboot to safe mode you can use a tool called Combofix. it will sometimes fix problems due to worms or viruses. I've used it many of times i cant fix it manually.

Your connection is not private

My GS6 grew into this error about 6 months ago so I stopped using the phone. It is showing up in all apps, on WiFi and cell service, not just chrome from the screenshots. Ie a lot of apps have problems because they always thing that I have an unsecured connection. If I refresh, I can usually get in to work, but it takes time on each website I visit. I am confident it's the phone, but have no idea beyond that.
Since the error has started, I have hard reset, re-rooted and re-flashed and gone back to stock again. Nothing seems to fix it. I've even followed a few websites which seem to try and fix this.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any idea for a fix? I'm willing to re-root and flash, but that might have been what got me into this mess in the first place. I am really out of ideas and am about to sell for parts because it's been so frustrating to deal with.
Thanks in advance!
There are several possible solutions, all listed here: https://www.thesslstore.com/blog/fix-ssl-connection-errors-android-phones/
The easiest is to check that the date/time is correct on your phone. If that is out of sync, it can cause these problems.
One other possible cause is to check the accounts on your phone. Maybe an old work account of something that is no longer active? Even if you only have one account on your phone, delete it and then add it back.
