Hello,
I'm trying to fill a table useful to understand how much RAM is really available to the user in Android Phones.
Please try "Free Memory" by coconuts on the market or the "free" command in Terminal to let me know the total RAM of your device so that I can understand how much is reserved for hardware operations.
Please also say which ROM are you using.
Thanks

hi guys...i'm a newbie at flashing rom and I was wondering if someone can give me somehelp with these questions:
1. what's the best rom...i refer to speed, signal strainght and a bit of futures..
2. I've seen this rom "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400452" that sais "45mb total storage memory/ 25mb free program memory"...what does that mean, wich memory it refers to??I ask this because when I look into my Artemis under settings\device info\hardware it sais flash size: 128mb, but storage size:37.63mb..
3. what's the difference between flash mem and storage mem??
thank you in advance to everyone who answers

Right ...
As I have said on other threads this is down to personal preference. If you are looking for a fast wm6.5 you probably want to look at Shadys Rom. Not sure about 6.1 but there are plenty of lite roms out there to try. Signal strength is determined by the Radio Rom this is separate to the Phone Rom. There is a thread floating about already but in short it varies from person to person.
If you go to start -> settings -> system -> memory (under the main tab) you will see some numbers. Essentially most people are bothered about the program free memory as it allows you to run more/more demanding apps.
I think (I am sure someone will correct me) the flash size of your memory card and the storage is how much is free?
Hope that helps
hi a_lai82..thank you for the answers, really thank you...
the thing about those memory questions is that I didn't have any memory card in the phone at that time, so all that it showed me is what's in the phone, that's why I wanted a clarification...
Dear all,
I just got the "Desire" & I found that I am pretty much easy to get it "out of space".
For example if I want to install a prog / game which the "apk" is 12MB, I would need to have about 40MB free spaces in order to install it. Otherwise, it just keep asking me to uninstall something firstly...
Anything I could do about that? Please kindly advise.
Thank you!

hi all,
i am very new in android OS.
i have bought the epad Superpad II Flytouch 3
spec shown on ads is: (main)
10.2" SuperPad II flytouch3
Android 2.2
GPS WIFI Camera 3G
RAM 512MB
CPU 1GHz Infortm X220
Flashplayer
option: 4G/8G/16GB built in memory.
and so i buy the 16GB build in memory.
What i need to know is:
i only seen with Android System Information:
Internal Memory : 3.38GB available space
RAM : 327mb and 228mb Free
CPU : ARMv6 Compatible (v6l)
but in MyPad Shortcut : there are 10.33GB Free (i don't know what it is)
My question is :
1. Is the ads exactly tells the truth or fraud?
2. What is the different between Internal Memory with Memory shown at MyPad
3. How can i use the 16GB build-in memory as promised?
Thanks for attentions.

Do you have adb shell access? The best way to settle this "dispute" with the device is to run
df -h
from adb shell, and it will tell you the size of each partition. Add the sizes up (if it ends M, it's Megabytes, if G it's Gigabytes). See if it adds up to 16 GB... Regarding RAM, post the output of the command
free
from adb shell and we can see how much RAM exists.
hi thank you for the answer.
where can i get this adb shell access?
i use terminal emulator but the command doesn't work.
If terminal emulator doesn't work please try Better Terminal Emulator.
Make sure you run:
SU ----> to run as superuser
For CPU information, is there anyway to check it?
This might help us ease the frustration while we wait for a software s-off...

sorry man, created new thread, found the tool also by myself, but thanks anyway.
Thank you.
And a bit more clarification: It's taking space from the internal memory but not the ram of the mob, and it can disable sense among other things to free up ram.
Bump.
Added proper file for WFS, see second post.
Hey frnds,
I have two dbts.;
1.It has 512MB ram.But task manager total is only 366MB.
ie.,Total(366MB)=used(139MB)+free(227MB). even though i am not running any app, it showing 139MB used ???and where is the remaining 146MB??
2.It has 4GB internal memory.I am accessible only 0.94GB.Where is the remaining 3.06GB ??
1st question - it has nly 350 mb ram that means only that much is available for apps and other is required for Android os
2nd- same thing 1gb is available for apps installation and other remaining space is for the rom
if u wld have taken a little trouble u might have found ur answer urslf many threads+ post regarding this
