Voicemail on salvage mod help!!! - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed salvage mod the other day and the only problem I have is that it does not have visual voicemail. Is there any way I can get the voicemail app from the stock sense rom? If so can anyone post a link to the apk. Thanks.

a way that I was able to get my VVM was by flashing a sense ROM of your choice, downloading Titanium Backup and back up the Sprint VVM - then when you flash any other ROM and re-download Titanium Backup, all you have to do is restore - Hope this helps!

I've never tried using the Sprint VVM app on SalvageMod, but I'm sure it's possible, as the other poster mentioned. If it can work on CM, surely it will also work on Salvage. There may be a specific version you need for it to work, however I'm not sure of that.
I honestly suggest using Google Voice as your voicemail. In my opinion, it's better than the Sprint VVM. There are various reasons why I think it's better, but I at least suggest you give it a shot. If you don't like it, back to sprint VVM for you.

Disable voicemail notification
I'm trying out the SalvageMod 1.3 stable rom on my HTC Evo 4G and it's working great so far. I'm trying to disable the stock voicemail notification but I haven't been able to find a way to do it. I tried the following:
Menu --> Settings --> Call Settings
I didn't find the option to uncheck the voicemail notification. Could it be somewhere else?
Thank you.

[Q] Sprint VM on CM6 - Sprint Updater FC Issue

I am currently running CM6 RC1 with LauncherPro Plus. Everything works fantastically well. I have applied the market fix and I love AOSP Android.
Pursuant to instructions in the CM6 nightly build thread, I installed sprintvm.apk and sprintupdater.apk. The latter force closes after the phone boots up.
Please advise if Sprint Voicemail will work properly without sprintupdater.apk installed.
Thanks in advance.
It FC's for everyone on boot. That's well known. And why not try it first? Really? Just take a Nandroid backup, then remove the updater, and see what happens.

I did try. I was getting mixed results and was looking for some additional insight on the matter.
Also, it's the Q&A section. I can ask if I please. No need to be rude.
Install Sprint Updater. Install Sprint VVM. Once things are squared away and the VVM is working properly, uninstall Sprint Updater.
Problem solved!

[Q] *2 causes com.android.phone to force close?

Anyone else having this issue?
I'm on Snacks 1.25. I've tried 20+ other numbers (including other * numbers). They all seem to work. I've cleared the data for 'Dialer' in applications.

Hey Jerry, I'm having this problem as well....I keep getting the force close message for "com.android.phone" and I managed to get my phone into airplane mode thinking that would solve it while I tried reinstalling TelephonyProvider.apk and the other app you had there and I can't get them to upload on Package Installer. Do I need to get my phone to reconnect with the internet and take it out of airpplane mode somehow?? I keep getting that message and I can't hardly do anything with my Evo right now and the phone dialing functions and MMS aren't working
Super frustrated.
Hello, i am a completel noob to this whole rooting thing. i followed a step by step guide and had a buddy help me root my Evo. i believe we used revolution or unrevoked maybe? after everything was rooted and the phone is working fine. sends texts, internet connect and everything. i cannot make a call to save my life. i open up the dial pad. type in a phone number. hit call and then bam. com.phone.android force closes... i enjoy having the rooted phone its much faster and the battery control is great but this isn't worth it. any suggestions. remember i'm pretty new to all this.
*EDIT
heres what i can tell you
Android version:2.3.3
HTC sense version:3.0
software number: kinged-shooter_RLS_2.3
PRI:2.15_003
PRL version:60681
i have tried wiping the dalvik cache doesn't work.

AOSP/Stock Android Messaging App on Evo

Hi,
Does anyone know if there is a way to install the stock Android messaging app on an Evo running the stock 2.2 OTA ROM?
I am waiting for root so I can remove this Sense UI toilet, but in the interim, I'm stuck with this horrific Sense messaging app, which has the infamous timestamp bug. I know I can use HandCent, but I don't like it.
I was wondering if I can get the Froyo Messaging.APK and install it on my Evo?
Also, is it possible to do it for contacts and the phone app too?

Unfortunately you cannot replace the app without root. It's a system app that cannot be altered out of the box.

Thanks.

Did you really just ask that directly after the previous post told you you couldn't? How odd.
ok, I could use a little help with this now
I have wiped all data/cache/delvik etc. reloaded the XxXViRuSXxX rom that was just release, was running the prior version before.
when installing this I am no longer able to send MMS messages. This goes for the just release version of this rom and the prior. Any suggestions or help on this would be great, really cant live without being able to send MMS and I much more enjoy this messaging system.

[Q] Voicemail not working on MikFroyo? Seriously Need Help!

So I am using the latest build of MikFroyo (4.5) and I am using the stock kernel that comes with it (stock htc kernel I believe). Well, I have had people call my phone and they say when it should go to voicemail it says that the "number is out of service." I have gone through my settings to make sure my phone number was right and it was. Then I tried using Google Voice and that didn't work either..apparently my area code for my phone number was not supported. I need help from someone quick, I use my voicemail for work. I know I am somewhat of a noob but I reallly need some help. Thanks in advance.
Do you have sprints visual voice mail.apk installed? I'm assuming it came with the rom. I would try to delete it and manually install the apk floating around here. Otherwise try to do a complete wipe and flash another rom.
I have done all of that. I even did the formatall.zip and then flashed MIUI and went back
Did you find a solution? I am having the same issue. It was saying that my number was disconnected. Now the person calling my phone hears my phone ringing, but my actual phone does not ring. I am having issues with my Sprint number as well as the one designated by Google.
Go to google voice. Like the website and call the number to deactivate your google voice accoujt
I had this same problem. Not sure how I fixed it, but after a bunch of trying stuff I'm now using google voice on cm7 nightlys.

strange issue for a sense rom? but try this..
2 questions: what recovery are you using? and did you nanroid backup the rom that the voicemail was working on? if so do a nanroid restore back to it and use titanium backup and back up the voicemail service apk, then do your wipes reflash mik4.5 redownload titanium backup from market go into manage all applications delete data and info for voicemail services then do a restore from titanium backup should work i use this method when i flash nonsense roms. hope this helps

Need help with Sprint Visual Voicemail in latest MIUI

I have the vvm.apk installed fine but I don't get any voicemails.
Im using an EVO with latest MIUI 1.8.19
How did u install the apk? Did u flash vvm fix found on decks thread? Did u go into settings and call settings and check the voicemail number. It gets set to something llike #87 instead of ur phone number
free the dirk
Flash this in recovery (gapps - vvm). Uninstall your voice mail, first.

I fought and fought with Sprint VVM on AOSP roms, until eventually I just decided to use Google Voice. I have never looked back.
You could use Gvoice until you get your VVM up and running.
Same here ppl
My vvm works fine on aosp roms, just restore a backup that has it and titanium backup vvm, restore your aosp Rom and titanium restore it, works for me every time. Only problem I have is the phantom voiceMail icon, that can be turned off in cm7, I can't get it off in miui tho.
