Hey all,
Zune on my PC - and accordingly even on my device - shows several dupes of images. When I check those files via Windows Explorer the filenames are the same as in Zune, but the images are definitely different ones. Removing the folders from the library and re-adding them again didn't work, since they seem to be cached somehow. Does anybody have an idea where the Zune cache is located or how I can clean so the folders will be refreshed correctly?

1) where are the Palringo settings stored (userid/password in particular)?
2) Where are the SmartLock settings stored?
3) I am not getting my email and attachments to load to my SD card. I am using the technique (I believe) that has been well documented. I update my registry (via Sashimi) with the entries (below) and the reboot, and then do the XML provision for the email accounts (also Sashimi). The emails are getting stored on my main Storage, so I'm not downloading attachments. The folders are present on the SD card, but not getting populated.
email registry settings:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Inbox\Mail Settings]
"AttachPath"="\\Storage Card\\Mail\\Attach"
"PropertyPath"="\\Storage Card\\Mail"
thanks
Theres an app out there called CeRegEditor, it allows you to backup and compare your registry.
I've used this app many times to find out where a program saves login info and other settings.
you simply back up your registry onto your computer before you log on, or do whatever changes you want to find.
Then log in to palringo, and once you've dont that, in CeRegEditor, you compare your phones registry to the one backedup
It will point out to you the differences in the two registries allowing you to find a lot of useful info.
or you could just open a reg editor on your device and search for "palringo" and go through to see if you spot your logon info.
best of luck

that worked very well for Palringo. I knew that and was apparently just being lazay. Smartlock appears to be saving settings from flash to flash now, not sure why (I started installing it to the SD card, so it must have settings stored there somewhere).
Still confused about why my email isn't saving to the SD card. I'm sure those settings used to work, but maybe that was for an earlier Windows or Manila.
I searched as best I could, but couldn't find a match to this particular issue.
I do have a rather weird issue with Gallery3D, that I've noticed after switching to OpenDesire, in 4.0.10 and 4.0.15.
Until recently I have been using various Sense based ROMs, where photos taken with the phone are stored in DCIM/100MEDIA and I always just used HTC's gallery app.
Now I'm on OpenDesire 4.0.15, which stores phone photos in DCIM/Camera, and uses Gallery3D to display them.
The thing is, when I try to display photos from DCIM/100MEDIA, taken earlier on various sense ROMs, Gallery3D shows some completely random photos instead. The thumbnails in 100MEDIA display correctly, but when I tap any thumbnail, it expands to the grainy fullscreen version, and is then replaced with a sharp and refined version of *another* picture.
It shows photos that I have taken with this same handset, but imported to my computer and deleted from the phone long ago. That is, photos that aren't even *on* the SD card anymore.
I have tried the following:
1. settings > apps > manage > Gallery3D > force stop + wipe data and settings
reboot
no luck
2. rename 100MEDIA to something else.
repeat 1.
no luck
3. Create new folder DCIM/Test
Copy files from DCIM/100MEDIA to DCIM/Test
The copies in DCIM/Test work well.
Hm.
4. factory reset, wipe cache + dalvik
reflash OpenDesire (4.0.15)
no luck
5. Made a flashable zip with most recent Gallery3D.apk from this thread and flashed it over the one included in OpenDesire 4.0.15
No luck (yes the update succeded, different file size )
Ok, fine, so I kind of solved the problem in attempt number 3, right? Well, yeah, except that I'm uncomfortable about my phone magically raising photos from the dead that I've deleted long ago.
Have you guys got any ideas or input?
Well, your deleted pictures aren't exactly "dead", they just aren't in the master file table of your SD once you hit delete, but they can definetly read. But to avoid going offtopic, you can simply back up your files, format the SD card and restore the files. Everything should be ok.
As to why this happened, it's possible that your Master File Table got corrupted somehow (or Android's MediaManager isn't reading it correctly). But I can't really say much since it's difficult to tell what the real cause is (perhaps you didn't "safely remove"?).
Either way, reformatting should help. And keep using Gallery3D from that post, it's one of the best around
Reason
Even i experienced the same issue,,but couldn't find the solution,,,,but i figured out why it is happening..!!
My gallery 3d app was showing the images i took long back which are no more in the SDcard..!!!how can it be possible..??
The reason is,,
>When we delete the file in the sd card,,the operating system will just mark that that memory location with some special character ,,in fact the data will appears to be deleted but truly i won't ...!!
>when we add new files to the file system that space will be overwritten ,,,by the new file...!!
>So in our case the file which appears as the thumbnail is in exact same memory lactation as the old deleted image....so the thumbnails will be stored in different location as the cache,,,,,
>this is the reason why it show the thumbnail but when we click on that,,, it shows the original data resides there....!!
> its just a bug in the Gallery app
>And it will happen only when we delete the files inside the gallery app...
>Next time try to delete the files in Some file managers like Astro
Hi all,
I have found a way to remove the main Windows Live account associated with the phone and insert another one without having to Hard-Reset the device.
Removing the main WL account might be indicated in the following conditions:
Improper Region Selected with Your Account
Switching between 2 Windows Live accounts
Problem with Contact Sync through Windows Live
Problem with Contacts stored locally on phone
Requirement:
Dev-Unlocked Windows Phone
WP7 Root Tools
Procedure:
Goto WP7 Root Tools or any other file explorer on the device
Navigate to \Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Stores\DeviceStore\
Rename store.vol to store.vol.txt (or anything else) - can be used as a backup
Restart the phone
WP might indicate that there was a problem with updating and all your messages, contacts and accounts data have been removed.
Now you can manually add them again.
Please note that, all your stored emails, messages, locally stored contacts and other data associated with your setup accounts will be erased from the device (can backup by restoring store.vol.txt to store.vol). Make sure you sync your contacts before proceeding with this.
Were you able to use the existing installed apps and update them without any issues ?
Also note that it's possible to open the contact and messaging database (store.vol) with software an merge it into the new one. That's what the SMS backup app does when restoring, for example.
My Lumia 900's primary computer was my work laptop(say SYS1). One day my work laptop crashed.
The IT team had the OS re-installed on a new Hard disk and gave it with the restored backup, how ever the zune sync profile located in appdata folder wasn't. I tried manually copying from the old drive (that crashed), but no luck. Now that old drive is gone.
Now i synced with the new system (say SYS2), and edited the sync relationship to make it primary computer.
The songs, media i had synced with the SYS1, is not visible any more in neither phone nor Zune. But it is still there in my Lumia 900.
I'm not able to see the songs i had in Zune from SYS1, only a handful of songs that i synced from SYS2. It is occupying about 5GB of space.
Please help me solve this.
The solutions i'm trying/tried are:
Going through this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2361350) to get to mass storage mode and delete the files. Will post update if there is any progress.
Format my phone
Please let me know if there are alternate solutions, whether i'm going in the right direction?
Please let me know if you need more information.
thanks
Q
With google photos free unlimited storage going away, I figure it is time to resurrect my old Pixel phone.
What's a good workflow/setup to be able to send photos to the phone to get uploaded?
I figure I can leave it plugged in and connected to WIFI. Have a samba share available that I can just dump photos into and then have it auto upload.
Did you ever end up setting up some workflow? I'm looking as well
Hi, I am running Syncthing on PC, Pixel and my primary phone.
On my primary phone the camera folder is marked as read only. So after I take a photo on my primary phone it uploads to Pixel -> and uploads to Google Photos. From time to time I run storage cleanup on the Pixel that deletes all uploaded photos from local storage but because of the syncthing settings won't delete photos on primary phone.
Btw it works nice in a way that Google Photos on my primary phone notice these files are uploaded on the servers so I can write comments, move into folders etc etc like it was uploaded from my primary phone.
I also have another folder "upload" that is synced between Pixel and PC that I use to upload photos from other sources (DSLR). This one is configured as two way sync so after it uploads and I run cleanup on Pixel it also deletes files in the folder in PC.
Did you figure out how to get it to backup all folders without asking if you want to add new folders?
I worked around this - in Total Commander I run command to show all files from subfolders (control+B) and then I copied all those files to one folder. Majority of files were copied OK but I had some files with already existing filename. For them Total Commander asked what to do (skip/rewrite..) under advanced was one option to automatically rename to filename(2...3...)....so i did this
