Loudspeaker battle, DHD,N1 or Desire? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok here are some rounds, tell me which one wins, oh and we are talking about the ringtones loudspeaker:
1- DHD no volume boost VS N1 no volume boost VS Desire no volume boost?
2- DHD kernel V boost VS N1 no volume boost VS Desire no volume boost?
3- DHD with Volume+ app (gb rom needed) VS N1 no volume boost VS Desire no volume boost?
4- DHD with any volume boost trick vs N1 with any volume boost VS Desire no volume boost?

Youhou nobody wana give the results?

Please don't bump threads within 24 hours.
I'm sure as soon as someone sees your post that has either got access to all three phones and has done or is willing to do all of the comparisons then they will comment.
But you're expecting a lot so be patient.

okay... mmmmmmm.... i beggin....
1-no one wins, the true is that any device has a supersound"", because the three devices are maded with htc components... they are to the same level.
2-DHD wins... Certainly there´s a vol. boost path for DHD with that we don´t must to change a kernel..
3- DHD wins for a few...
4- no one wins... i repeat: are 3 devices with a low sound speaker..
it is my opinion under my experience...

Thank you!
I hope the Sensation will have an upgraded speaker, the reviews of the IS look like it's still at the same level as N1 and DHD.
HTC speakers are more treble oriented even too much, making ringtones with bass distorted
I wonder which will win between HTC DHD and samsung galaxy S?

mmmm.... htc sensation seems awesome no????? dual core.... and one thing that i miss... an OLED display... **** yeah!!! hahaha
you have reason... htc have so trebble sound and the function of ""SRS WOW" produces distortions in the bass... (using music player of course, not ringtones xd)
i am going to receive two GALAXY S the next month....Till then I will not know anything of this terminal.... only can say that the SAMSUNG GALAXY SPICA (his little little little brother has the best speaker that i was haved.... i was boosted 20% with FROZEN ECLAIR ROM and works great!!! betTer the DHD.
i hope that the soundspeaker of SGS is going to be better than DHD
WHAT´S YOUR OPINION BOY¿?¿?¿??
THECNICAL NAME OF SAMSUNG GALAXY SPICA: SAMSUNG GT-I 5700
and sorry for my bad english. xd

As I understood the loudspeaker of the SGS is not loud either, but it can handles better bass, SGS2 will have the same fate!
My actual Arc has the loudest speaker since years on my phones, it's like a nokia loudspeaker and it can handles easily boosting via volume+ app.
It's 3x louder than my old N1 and has very good bass

Don't worry. As far as implemented functionality from Samsung and Android, they should be similar and infact I believe the loudspeaker amplifier seems more powerful in the new chipset (I am inferring through SGS3 specs as I believe its the same for Note 2). More importantly, it should be WAY superior to SGS2 and Note 1 as I find them absolutely useless with my powered headphones.

EDIT:
Wolfson Micro WM1811 http://www.wolfsonmicro.com/products/audio_hubs/WM1811/
100dB SNR Class W Heapdhone amp output, ReTune DSP, 3x digital interface.
Like WM8994 in Galaxy S / Nexus S, except:
1x stereo DAC instead of 2x.
2x 2W Speaker amp instead of 2x 1W
Smaller and probably cheaper, same sound quality expected.

Yup, thats what I meant. Thanks for getting the numbers. Unfortunately the stereo speaker output may not help as I believe Note 2 may have a mono speaker like the rest, pity!
Supercurio - Eagerly awaiting an update on this. Hope its coming soon as you tweeted.
People do overestimate the difference in sound quality between the sgs and other phones.
Yes, the chip in the sgs really shines with voodoo sound's amazing mechanics, but this isn't something you'll hear or can take advantage of with stock earbuds, dre or skullcandy headsets. You need at least an entry level hi fi setup or a decent set of headphones. Until you get to that point, you might as well just be using an eq.
I'm not trying to be condescending, but I think many people use a turbo and stuff it into their vw beetle and expect to go 300 kmh
Just ordered a note 2, and will be looking forward to test it beside my sgs!

I have an sgs as well as the note2 now....
I own sony extra bass earphones they sound really awesome in the samsung galaxy S , just a little less in the Note2 but all the difference I see is of the bass ..the galaxy s pumps those beats quite well unlike the note2
And just fyi just throw the stock samsung earphones in the dustbin..they are worst like made in china nit china is to blame but its cheapass ! ( Sony made in Philippines)

The chip in the SGS really did shine with a bit of Voodoo:
Youtube: watch?v=-c5XOTP77qs
It's really rare for a smartphone to be able to record in extreme environments like that. The Nokia Lumia 920 is another phone with similar capabilities, here's a comparison of that one with the HTC 8x at the same event:
Youtube: watch?v=svM5g_9539Y
Phones in general get the result of the HTC, including the SGS without the Voodoo fix. I Haven't really tried the new gen Samsung's in a location like this, but I know that the SGS3 sounds basically like the HTC above, because the microphone doesn't enable recording for loud environments in the software.
Sure, recording in loud environments isn't something you normally do, but, it's still nice to have the ability to do it.
Sorry for the "broken" youtube links, apparently I'm not old enough to post links...

Awesome! Now we finally have voodoo like sound on our Note 2.
Couple of things missing in Siyah's implementation:
1. No volume slider hack so to keep digital volume max and tweaking analog one needs to be done through Stweaks app and the change happens after we change and hit "Apply" against realtime hack in voodoo sound app. This means, dynamic range is low in lower volume and noise floor high. Also means we wont get extended volume levels (0-63) instead of only 15 levels in default digital volume slider
2. No video recording DRC hack as in voodoo sound app (haven't tested, may be hidden but atleast no tweaking of DRC possible)
I prefer using voodoo sound app which is not yet detecting these kernels to be compatible with it to enjoy the above features.
Also I prefer the below kernel for this for CPU and GPU overclocking options in Stweaks app:
forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927852
Hope Supercurio adds support for these kernels atleast in his paid app.
so.......
I'm a n00b with all this, so can someone boil it down to a yes/no: Voodoo for Note 2? Sound quality on par with Galaxy 1?
I have Westones, not the usual earbuds, and the S1 is literally the best FLAC player I've ever owned. It's certainly a bit long in the tooth at this point, however, so I'm interested in upgrading but not willing to give up the Wolfson + Voodoo. I'm in the states, but I've got no problem buying an unlocked model from elsewhere if necessary.
Edit: Forgot to mention I'm tied to USCC (job pays for phone), not sure if that matters

[Q] HTC One X AQ Related Query

Hi,
I was recently going through a review of HTC One X+ (Plus) & I noticed one strange thing. This is what GsmArena mentioned about the SQ,"Excellently clean audio output: One of our greatest disappointments when reviewing the HTC One X was its audio output. The One X+ predecessor had high distortion levels and a general performance that didn't suit a flagship device. Luckily, HTC has managed to solve whatever issues it had this time and the One X+ really managed to ace our test. The new HTC top dog delivered some of the cleanest audio output we have seen both with an active external equalizer and with headphones. There are no weak points to its performance whatsoever and if its volume levels weren't only average we'd be recommending it to every audiophile out there. Don't get us wrong - the One X+ is still a great choice for anyone who finds audio quality important - it's just that it's not alone at the top".
If I am not wrong then OX+ is just an overclocked version of OX so I highly doubt that HTC used a different DAC & that additional amplifier thingy is to boost external speaker volume only. So, is it possible that HTC might included a tweaked/better audio drivers with JB rom? I am sure many users here have already update OX with official JB so did you notice any improvement/change in audio quality via 3.5mm jack?
Regards.

Poor in-call volume-planing change HTC One V Ear Speaker-good decision?

Hello.I have in this thread a post about my problem with poor in call volume. Is not to bad but not enough for me,and I think there is no any kernel with tweak for increase the in call volume,we can find a lot of apps for boost volume for speaker but no for ear speaker, only what I found and paid a dollar was option for steps when changing the in call volume.
I have also in home HTC Desire C and Samsung Wave and both with my sim giffgaff netowork in UK have a perfect, very loud in call sound. In HTC One V is a lot silencer, also my wife(she always say Iam deaf)confirm that.
I have a question for users with HTC One V did somebody have the same issue and did somebody test with other phone.
Because I thinking about replace the ear speaker,is cheap on ebay, but mayby this is a normal "bug"on htc one v and this will not give me any better solution.
HTC One V is perfect phone for me,only that in call volume need to be increased for me at all.
Regards.
Hello,
I have the same problem with my HTC One V - low volume speaker and I`m planning to replace new speaker - It will something improve? I tried to brush holes yet...
I think its not hardware problem, i have poor volume too, try to change network connection from gsm to wcdma only, it worked for me, but battery drains faster.

SOUND QUALITY (when compared with devices equipped with the Wolfson DAC )

Just curiuous about the sound quality of the Oppo find 7 compared with those devices carrying the Wolfson DAC .
Regardin headset output
Anyone?
I don't know about headphones but all i know is this phone has the loudest and clearest speakers i have ever seen on a smartphone. I have owned all of the galaxy models, droid dna, xperia z2, optimus g pro, nexus 4, huawei mate; to name a few. Besides the HTC Boom sound i don't think many others come close. Most of the time it is literally too loud for general use at full volume.
Thanks
But I am really interested on the headset sound quality.
No external speaker can match my JBL portable ( for phones) ..
.
Actually, it would be interesting to know what is the it's the impact (if any)of the cooperation between Waves and Wolfson ( http://www.analog-eetimes.com/en/mo...-technologies.html?cmp_id=7&news_id=222905459 ) on the find 7, since the Snapdragon processor got its own DAC...

This is my second device with Snapdragon DAC(first was a Xiaomi Mi-2) and both has a very good sound output with well balance equalizer and 0 distortion. MaxxAudio and DiracHD(in ColorOS) it's DSP and as well they put they signature efects and equalizer, this things I don't like. Comparing to Wolfson DAC in my Galaxy devices ,my iPhone 1st gen and my iPod I can't complain about quality and power output, of course they have diferent signatures of sound but every DAC and headphone has too.

I am also not that impressed with this "award winning" maxxaudio thing and I wonder if it's any better than Viper4Android as a DSP manager.
I guess I just have to take my headsets to a showroom and run some tests on another device carrying probably the same Qualcomm built-in DAC such as the HTC 1 M8.
However it could be that the HTC got another amp implementation ......

As a DSP manager MaxxAudio has a good performance and serve for his purpose that is general public and even Viper has a profile that's similar to it. Equalizers and DSP are fairly wrong because they aren't correct anything but adding something that they don't need used and makes even a great DAC like Wolfson sounds bad.
I'll be able to give you subjective views soon enough
I own the SGS3 (with Boeffla sound) and have the Oppo Find 7 coming to me within a week.

Hey there!
Here's my impressions - I just got the phone today and have been playing around with it.
It's almost 3am here and I've got work tomorrow at 9 lol!
Sound impressions: extremely positive, it sounds great!
If I had to compare, I would say (and this is being EXTREMELY analytical of the sound, A/Bing and trying to listen out to certain parts of songs - difference isn't that obvious):
-S3 has a more meatier sound, little more bass emphasis
-S3 and Find 7 have the same output volume (or very close to it)
-Oppo Find 7 is more mid centric
-S3's soundstage is slightly wider/deeper
-Highs seem very similar
Notes:
-Tests conducted un-amped with my heavily modded D2Ks
-This was tested with the S3 using DeltaROM that has Boeflla kernel, but I made sure to disable Boeffla sound in the configurator, before stating the above results. (With Boeflla enabled, the S3 wins in every way, hands down)
-Oppo Find 7 is running stock ROM Colour OS 1.2.6i.
-Both are running Poweramp (unlocked) with flat EQs
-Both phones are on Android 4.3
End of the day, there's an extremely slight difference between the two. It isn't something like the S2's (yes numero dos) horrible chipset (as far as I'm, aware subjectively speaking), but nor is it better sounding than the S3 nor the beast the S1.
It lies between the S2 and S3's sound. Great but not as good I guess.
I listen to music a heck of a lot on my phone and I think I'll cope with with this initial listen - in other words, it's not something that will make me put it down, it's something I'll stick to and happily listen to
On a separate note: the Oppo Find 7 is an amazing phone, blistering fast, charging was ridiculously good, the camera is decent (especially the front facing one) and the Colour OS skin is the best Android skin I've ever come across (ie HTC's Sense and Samsung's TW).
However, I'm a little disappointed by its overall brightness levels , lack of pull-down notification customisation and little washed out colours.
other than those three points (which can all potentially be sorted out via a custom rom), the phone is so far flawless

[Q] Sound volume of HTC One M9

Hi everybody, i will soon buy HTC One M9 so i am interested in one thing:
How loud speakers are on the M9?
Because loudness is very important to me because me and my team like to listen alot of music while out.
Are they louder than my friends Galaxy S3? i know they are more quality but i want them to be alot of louder than Galaxy s3 becasue he always tells he has loudest speaker of all of us, so i want to blow him away

M9 seems to have the loudest speakers on commerce, and not only loud. Check video comparison on internet. (Definitely more powerful than your s3).

If your phone is rooted
Go to play store and search for viper4android. In the playstore the app will have a ton of Chinese in it. But when you download it, it is in English. This will make your phone a whole lot louder and it will sound cleaner!
Sent from my HTC One M9 using XDA Free mobile app
I find the quality and loudness of the M9 speaker is far superior to ANY of the Galaxy S series. My mate has the s6 and i had the s4 and my sister has the s5, and it's much better. Louder, better sound quality. It's great, and having it at high volumes doesnt make you feel like the speaker is going to rattle itself to death either.
What about ringtones? they do not seem as loud as all the other phones owned by my co-workers. We always have to listen for our phones since we are on call and when their phones ring they seem much louder than my M9.
I'm gonna be the "odd man out" here.
I've had the M7, M8 and now the M9.... I think the M9 has the best sound, but the quietest of the 3. My step son's iPhone 5s is louder, but sounds really bad.
To me, everything needs to come up a few db.... But then I think you'd lose the sound quality.
Just my $.02 wroth.

I am a new fan of this app... If you are rooted this can bring you quite a few db and you can improve sound quality in the advanced features.. I've never had a cell phone that could sound better than my mp3 player until I learned of this app. The developer should charge for it. IMO it's that good. Let me know what you think and don't worry it is in English.

Edit-- The best improvements are in headphones and bluetooth. But does bring up the ext speakers quite a bit.

What about ringtones? they do not seem as loud as all the other phones owned by my co-workers. We always have to listen for our phones since we are on call and when their phones ring they seem much louder than my M9.

I have a hard time hearing ringtones too.. Honestly I go to zedge and find the most loud ringtones I can find and that helps. If it's something like being on call I'd look for a loud alarm tone and set that ringtone for my work number. I did that at a baseball game and I could hear it... barely but I heard it as where the stock tones I couldn't hear anything.

On a side note, but still related: I have V4A installed on my current ROM, but it doesn't work for some reason? I've used it on previous phones and know how to get it working, but for some reason it's just not working with my current ROM (Eragon 8.6). I've updated and tried all 3 "driver" installations... I reboot it and check the driver status and it shows it's not working and I hear no difference with any changes I make.
You can use on PC a free program call Audacity to boost the loudness of ringtones. Just load it, use the boost/amplify feature (I forget what it is called), and then export as a new file. You will have to download an additional file called lamemp3 and direct the program to it in order to save as a mp3. This works really well. You can also load a full song and trim out the portion of the song you want as a ringtone.

I haven't had any issues with it. I'm using ViperOne 3.0 on the 2.8 firmware
But I ran across this the other day that might help.

I am using this version of it
