So I don't know if it is my area or what but I am running bonsai 4.0.1 and for some reason as of late my 4g download speeds will be super fast at about 6.5mbps but my uploads are super slow at about 256kbps. I have changed the wimax settings to allow me to pick up a weaker signal but it shows 2 bars, and I have removed the sprint proxies. Has anyone been having this problem as well? tried searching but didn't really find anything.

Customer service told me there is a nationwide outtage on 4G so there will be problems for awhile.
Do you BONSAI?
I'm under the belief that they are attempting to expand their 4G network at the moment, which may be contributing to the outage. Boston's 4G was ridiculously slow or inaccessible at the end of last week, which apparently led to everyone flooding the 3G network instead, slowing that down too.
You're not alone, and it's not your phone. I thought the same thing of my ACS and already tried fixing it . To be fair, I had other motives to re-flash I was justifying...

Are the sprint proxies removed in Bonsai 4.0.1? If not, how do you remove them?

Hi guys,
I can't seem to get a stable 4G connection on my Epic 4G for some reason. When I toggle the "4G" to "ON", it would connect for a split second and immediately Disconnects and tries to connect again and again. My friend tested his phone (Nexus S 4G) and he connects just fine with data speed of 3,000kbps on Speedtest compared to my miserable 600-700kbps. I've also tried testing this in several different areas including major cities that supposedly cover "4G" and it does the same
I'm currently running SRF 1.2 ROM on Genocide 2.0 Kernel but I believe this issue was present even before rooting my phone. I also tried using different modems (EB13, EC05, EE03, EF02, EG22, EH17) but it made almost no difference to my 4G connection.
Does anyone have any suggestion on this??? I would really like to experience my 4G connection on my supposed 4G phone.
I have the same set up as you, and the same spotty 4g. Sometimes it's very hard to keep a stable 4g connection even in areas where I know 4g has been strong. It disconnects, or it pretends that it is connected but data really isn't going through.
Though, 4g is kinda new to my area and there are rumors that it's still in testing phases. Also, I don't have any input from other 4g users here. So in the end I'm not sure if its just my epic, or if there are wider issues.

Strong 4g signal
I am also running SFR 1.2 and I get very strong/stable 4g speeds. I live in Chicago (Sprint 4g has been here for a while), and I get 3-4Mbps in my apartment on 4g. This is enough to do things like play Xbox Live or Skype using my 4g. I have noticed that while traveling on trains in the area the connection tends to go on and off, but I would say that overall, I usually have a great connection.
This may just be in your area, where are you located?

I have the same issues, even though the Sprint coverage map shows I should be able to get 4G inside my house.
After researching, what I have found is you must find the nearest Sprint tower that has 4G, hold your left hand directly on the control board of the tower, and while placing your right big toe directly on the battery of your phone (must be the right big toe, the left big toe will not carry current correctly), you must complete the following key sequence on the dialer (###WTF***4G###***). Only then will you receive a 4G signal. Now be aware this will only enable the signal to last for 15 seconds. If you need more time that that, you must repeat the process. Oh...and By the way...This will only get you 1 bar of 4G service. I will be working on a detailed guide for 2 bars. There is no known method to actually get 3 bars of 4G service!!
Sorry, but this is a good of an explanation as anyone from Sprint has given me.
You may now return to your normally weak 3G Sprint signal.

Im currently on the latest Miui 109090 and savaged-zen 2.0.2 cfs havs gb+ kernel. I noticed my 3g was horrible so decided to do a speed test and Im averaging around 250 ping, 150kbs upload and about 200kbs download. Why is my 3g so incredibly bad? is it sprint or my rom/kernel?

Pretty sure its Sprint. My speeds have abysmal in the past few weeks. Never had these issues before. They dont seem ROM related

It's Sprint. My 3G has gotten worse but my 4G has taken an even bigger hit. I've also noticed more that I'll lose 3G and drop to 1X in an area I KNOW has 3G coverage, and sometimes it won't switch back unless I toggle the mobile data on and off.
My 3G tests have ranged from 175 kbps (5:30 PM) to 860 kbps (11 AM). While I used to be able to hit up to 8 mpbs on 4G, my last two tests showed me at 1860 kbps and 1740 kbps. That is slower than any other carriers 3G, like really Sprint? Wimax is a ****ing joke (probably more due to the spectrum used but still)

Yep, way better than mine. I havent gotten above 100kbps since last November.
ok.. thats "good" i guess.. I was this close to wiping everything and starting from scratch, but I guess this horrible service is normal.
What dbm are you guys getting? im at -99
Pretty sure it's Sprint as others have already said. In north NJ and my speeds have been horrible for the last 6 months. Just getting worse and worse.
I signed up with Sprint cause of unlimited data but what's the point of having it when it's so slow as to be nearly useless? I have wifi everywhere at work so not an issue but I used to be able to stream music while driving and that's no longer possible.
I've tried just about every speed tweak out there, including the 3G script, resetting data, changing proxy settings and different radio combinations but all have ended up yielding 0 results. My speeds max out at 0.20 Mbps at best.

How do u force roam?.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
To Force roaming.
There is an app called roam control that will do it for you or there is a new rom called Evo Classic v0.0.3 that has it baked in the rom.
I've got roam control already but it doesn't seem to do anything. And yes I am rooted
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
Roam Control will only let you roam for voice. For data, you will be on 1x only. (although 1x is usually faster than what I get on sprint's 3g).
To fully roam on verizon with 3g you will need to flash the verizon prl here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=696073
Be sure to fully read, and understand that until you unflash the prl, you will be CONSTANTLY roaming on verizon, for both voice and data. Your phone won't show you are roaming, so be careful and dont forget and leave it on verizon for too long. Sprint will catch you if you go over about 3gb of data, and they could kick you off their service.
How do u get back to sprint after you flash the Verizon prl?
Edit: nvm, just figured it out

I have a rooted EVO 4G with the stock Rom and I have been experiencing slow speeds lately. I've tried searching the net and have found numerous articles that contradict one another at times. Most pages sujjest to change the prl so I've tried that and have had no luck thus far. I do not want to do the prl hack where I would use verizons towers because ay the moment I do not want to get terminated from Sprint. I just do not like the speeds I've been getting lately. Had anyone had any luck with some type of modification to their phone that has helped speed their data up??
I live in new York city and almost always have 3 to 4 bars of reception. So I don't think that's the problem.I'm attaching 2 screenshots of my speed results. Obviously the faster one is where I was using 4G. I have tried multiple prl files and the speed is around the same with each. Any help would be greatly appreciated

PRL has nothing to do with sprint. The prl update just updates the towers you connect to when roaming.

There is no mod you can do, Sprint's speeds just suck right now. I personally got the evo in June of last year on launch day. For a few months, I got perfectly normal speeds, around 2mbps. In November of last year, my speeds went to about 100kbps, and I haven't gotten above 150kbps on sprint's network since then. Nothing you can do about it, Sprint just needs to majorly update their network, and we all know that isnt going to happen anytime soon.

You can try the 3G Turbocharger, it's in the V6 Supercharger thread. I'm pretty sure it just makes some changes to your build.prop to help with your connection.
I honestly didn't see much of a difference using it, but I rarely use 3g. A lot of people claimed that it helped, so it may be worth a shot.
The bottom line is that Sprint's service sucks. With the new influx of heavy data users, there's even more strain on the network. I'm lucky, I still get usable speeds, but some people get just awful speeds. If Sprint doesn't step it up and do something, they're going to lose customers.

What option are you talking about? What modifications are you suggesting to make?
your posted speeds are faster than mine lol
Those speeds are better than my 3g, and I don't even have 4g to compare.
My 3G used to be good until earlier this month. I could sometimes snag 1000kbps but now I pull dismal numbers. It seems that the bad 3g speeds are because of heavy network traffic. When I speedtest at around 1am, my speeds go back up to the 1000kbps range.
I suspect the iPhone 4S had something to do with this, and also the S2 was released fairly recently.
Is there a way to find out if 4G coverage has been removed from an area? I came in to work today and no 4G connection....I barely get 3G as it is in this particular area, so I called sprint and they said that there was in fact an issue with the zip I provided, but the problem had been resolved.
We went through the usual update this and that, and still no signal. She concluded saying there was a possibility that 4G coverage may have been removed from that area. I would just like to know if there's a way of digging deeper in order to get a solid answer to whether it's been removed or not.
The best thing I could think of is sprint.com/coverage,I believe they also have a clearwire wimax app in the marketplace search clearwire

The thing is if they've really removed 4g from the only place I did get 4g, that would suck considering that 3g is slower than tmobile's edge. Hopefully it's temporary...
What modem are you using? I recently updated to EL26 from E13. I only get 3g in my house and spotty service so when I updated my modem my dl/ul speed increased.

I am having a trouble with 4G LTE connetion on my Sprint Galaxy Nexus running MIUI 2.9.21. I flashed the rom and must say. Everything seems to be working except when I went to the play store and downloaded speedtest.net (A necessity) and I noticed it was moving very slow to search and download. So It finished downloading and I start it up. I look at the speeds and they were so horrible I have to post them. 713kbps down, 566kbps up, ping 142ms. This is bad considering that I live in a well lit 4 bars all the time and rarely dips into 3 bars, 4g area and with other roms Like codename Android and stock I easily get 20,000kbps down, 15,000kbps up, and ping 7ms. *Note that for me to enable 4G on those roms I will have to settings, and update my profile* I do not see any thing like that in MIUI. So i'm asking Is there a way to update my profile in MIUI.
I love MIUI for the customizability <---- If that's a word| and speed on all my previous phone: HTC HD2, T-mobile G2, and T-Mo G2X. Now that I have this phone I would like to continue the trend of having MIUI Freedom on this phone.
I fixed the 4G speed numbers it was actually supposed to say 20,000kbps down/15,000kbps up and ping 7ms
I noticed it had views but no replies. This is probably why

I have the same issue. I see I can change Network Mode to "LTE/CDMA" in Mobile Network Settings, but I have yet to see my phone show me any "4G" speed, even though I realize Sprint's 4G availability is spotty in San Jose, CA area. I'm wondering if this ROM supports 4G LTE on Sprint?

Same here. But ppl seem like they aren't having a problem with it to be such a big feature like 4G or there will be alot of problems
