I need to take my phone back today and have flashed back to DI18 in order to OTA EC05. However when I try to update it I get "No software update is available at this time. Your current software is up to date." I have downloaded DI18 from two reliable sources so I assume that "I am doing it wrong" Under Firmware version it says 2.1 -update1, Kernel is 2.6.29 & its on Eclair.DI18
edit: I should have posted this in the Flash Back To Stock thread but for the sake of not cross posting I could use some help here.
edit 2: Just tried to send a text message and my phone told me I had an update available. Thanks for the help everybody! lol

Yeah, it takes a while to download the update.zip and then you get the update message.

Hi all,
I've been disconnected from the Epic community recently. Just the other day I found out about the official Froyo update but my phone has never notified me about this. Also, when I go into settings to check for updates, it tells me there is none.
Every tells me they are up to date; profile, firmware, and Android, but when I try to update the PRL it tells me I need to reset the radio. I have no idea what that means or if it's even relevant to why I cannot upgrade to 2.2.
How do I get my phone to update? I haven't been able to find anything in a search.
If it helps, my PRL version is 60676 and my firmware is 2.1-update 1.
Thanks for any help.
Go under development.. Everything is there. Sprint pulled the official update after people were having issues upgrading from ota. If u odin, root, and install the optimized custom roms, you won't regret it.

To be honest, after what I read today, I suggest just going this route:

After reading about Carrier IQ, I refuse to ever use anything official again.
Hi XDA,
As i'm reverting back to Stock, I decided to download the earliest release of the DHD rom I could find. I ended up downloading the '1.24.405.1' version of the software, and on flashing the RRU, rather than a picture of the phone appearing a message said 'For Testing Purposes Only, Not For Shipping' or something along those lines. After flashing I went to the OTA Update however there are no updates available for my device, which is odd as the ROM is from October 10, and there have been many OTA's since then? This is the file I downloaded.
RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.24.405.1_Radio_12.27.60.14b_26.02.00.29_M4_release_151852_signed
I got it from Shipped-Roms, all help is appreciated.
Because it's a test rom, you should have chosen the 1.32... version from this thread

Thanks, solved.
Regarding http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27987936&postcount=1
I received a popup about an upgrade, I accepted it, and it failed, because I'm rooted. I'm also getting Code 3 errors constantly and can not receive text messages post OTA upgrade attempt. I'm assuming they're related.
Are the files and methods in that post at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27987936&postcount=1 compatable with the upgrade my phone just downloaded, but couldn't install? I see the release and build dates are from May. Is Sprint only just now rolling out that code or is the post out of date and I'm SOL?
OTA updates will usually never work if they do, you'll loose root. If you download that factory rom, I think you'll loose root also. When you goto settings, about phone, whats under baseband and build number? How large a file was the OTA update? Code 3 error, call Sprint, SMS issue. Call them BEFORE you flash a new rom, as dialer codes don't always work on aftermarket roms.
this message brought to you by my GalaxyS3 running Phantom's Blazer
All u have to do is re flash the stock Android recovery and accept the updates and then reroot

Regarding the error, call Sprint and continue to do some research. I've had to fix issues like this on my own as CSR only knows so much. As for the new updates, I'm sure the thread you linked to works.
I am rooted and wanted to update, so I downloaded a CWM zip from Zedomax and flashed it. Instructions are on there if you need them. Link below. This may fix the issues with your ROM, it may not. If you have CWM installed you could try doing a factory reset from CWM and then booting up to see if that fixes your issue. Good Luck.

If your rooted download a updated rom and your problems should go away! lust my experience.
Cant one just temporarily un-root using Voodoo OTA root keeper, accept the update then re-root using Voodoo?
I updated to JB yesterday with the OTA on T-mobile. I am rooted and used OTA root keeper to restore root. I went to change my build.prop file to change the display density. What I didn't do was use the new build.prop from JB. So I softbricked my phone. I restored to UVALH2 and was going to get the OTA's to go back to JB. When I click on "Software Update" it says I am up to date. I noticed that my baseband is still JB's.
The question here is, does software update go off of what is listed for the Baseband or the Build Number?
Solved
Haven't made too many posts where I need to update afterwards. I decided to reflash UVLH2 modem. Once back in phone I went to about device and tried to do the SW update. It prompted me for download.
So, from what I can tell here, OTA are based upon your radio version, to answer my own question. Good day!
Glad you got it figured out. All of that is covered in the Official Jelly Bean thread.
This one is closed. If anyone uses search (ya right jk) and this thread comes up, just go to the above thread.
Had 4.1.1 rooted with CWM. Phone downloaded a 600MB update file. Got some sort of error part way through. Flashed stock recovery back. Let phone download OTA update. Stopped half way through the flash and aborted. No error, rebooted before I could see one - just said that it was interrupted or something after rebooting. Go to check for updates and it says the phone is up to date, however about shows 4.1.1! Kernel though is showing SMP Preempt Nov 20 date so that's go to be something new.
I noticed on Kies it says 4.1.1 is the latest version! I know 4.3 had a lot of bugs initially. Is AT&T still chickening out on this for now and all the msgs I see about 4.3 OTA update are before AT&T stopped it? Or somet issue with my phone.
I'm about to just do back to CWM, move to CM11 nightly and roll the dice on having to deal with bugs and other funky stuff. But then stability is my #1 priority so maybe just stay on 4.1.1. Can't be right as I thought there was a 4.1.2 even?? (I had the update app frozen via TI so I never bothered with the OTA updates.)
*** shoots straight into your head ***
Dead, yet ?
There's a flashable zip of the official 4.3 update in the development thread. I would recommend the no knox prerooted version though because the other version is apparently "unrootable" right now.

Jazee, I read your posts on why you chose to try 4.3. I did what jukiewalsh recommends & have 4.3 as a stable DD.
This only works if your bootloader remains on 4.1.2 or less!

I took a quick look and qasn't sure what thread you are referring to?
I'm guessing this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2498233
But aside from having a pre-root pre-no knox version how does this one compare to this one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2387423
Are both of these buggy and that's why AT&T stopped pushing out the update?

I'm pretty sure that is the difference, that it's pre-rooted and insecure. As the second one's title says it's a "one way road". If you have any plans on rooting or installing a custom rom in the future I wouldn't do the second one because currently I think it's hard to root. The other one is essentially like flashing a custom rom so you can still switch between other ones or flash a kernel if you ever decide to. And I haven't tried the 4.3 TW yet so I can't attest to the bugginess
