I know xda has some gamers out there so I have a question. I'm trying to share media from my phone to my 360. This used to be possible on sense roms before Xbox received that last dashboard update that messed with the usb settings. In the past you could use your phone mount it and your Xbox would let you share music and photos via USB. I haven't been on a sense rom in a long time so I don't know if it still works. When I mount my phone (USB) the Xbox picks it up as "portable drive" and lets me scroll the contents but choosing music just hangs. I tried this app called "Twonky Media server" which lets you wirelessly stream music to your Xbox it works perfect but I'm trying to do it via usb because it lags my game sometimes. Can someone on a sense rom with an Xbox let me know if you share music via usb? Anyone try this with cm7 because I can't get it to work!
Anyone lol?

Does anyone know how to use the G2 to sync up the my xbox to play video/music/see pictures? I plug in my Samsung Vibrant and I have 3 options:
Mass Storage
Media Player
Samsung Kies
If I select "Mass Storage", I cannot see the files of the phone on the xbox. If I select "Media Player" I can see the files of the phone on the my xbox.
When I try to connect the G2, I only get the option to Sync, or not to Sync. Syncing does not allow me to see the files of the phone, and therefore does not allow me to play the movies/pictures from the phone. I have a basic USB stick that will show my pictures on the xbox, so why won't my smartphone? I'd also like to be able to plug directly into my TV if that's possible too.
Your best bet is mass storage. The xbox can read any data storage device through a USB connection.
I think mass storage is the only option you get with the G2...
Cmon, no one has tried to sync their G2 and XBOX??????
The G2/DZ has DLNA support. HTC are selling a DLNA adapter which lets devices which don't have built-in DLNA support see it - so that could be a solution to connect your TV.
I tried connecting my G2 to my 360 last week and didn't work..Just saw this thread..And im wondering the same thing..Why can't I play my music on my G2 thru the xbox..I used to do it with my crapberry without a problem. All i get is "mass storage" I connect but still can't view any files..Anyone know how to fix?

In the PS3, the files have to be in a certain directory.
For example, videos had to be placed in /VIDEO/what_ver_movei_youhave.avi
Does this apply to the Xbox?
Hey all, just read about this on Gizmodo. As of yesterday, AirSync can sync music to your Xbox or Ps3 to play over wifi. This is very exciting news to me because now I dont have to have a crappy usb plugged in all the time. It warns that it might not be compatable with some htc devices but it works on my g2 so im not complaining. Not sure about the Ps3 but on the Xbox all you have to do is go to music library and it should show up as something to play on besides the HDD. Very useful. Enjoy

Edit: Forgot to mention you can view photos and videos(if their in the right format) too!!
Very nice, I should try it now. Thanks for the post!

I just spent 10 minutes trying to get my G2 ps3 doubletwist connection working without success. Let me know if there is any special step I might be missing. I searched for media server with no success. Also my auto sync with my desktop doesn't seem to work all the way. It only copied a few videos but no pictures. I only have it set up to sync from my phone to pc.
Mine has sometimes stopped working too. Since I have no ps3 I can't tell you what to do there but just try restarting everything. Did you make sure airtwist is on? Open doubletwist music player > settings > airtwist. If it is checked try toggling it off then on
how to for ps3
Hey im doing this on a note 2 but to connect it to the ps3 turn on airtwist and go to your ps3, search for a media server and just connect to it
OK Peeps,
Someone in Coolexe’s rom thread asked me what DLNA was and how to use it. As I couldn’t point them straight to a guide I thought I’d better write one. Plus I’m sure some of you don’t even know what it is!
From Wikipedia:
DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) is a standard used by manufacturers of consumer electronics to allow entertainment devices within the home to share their content with each other across a home network.
So what can I use my Desire for in the world of DLNA?
1. Stream movies you have stored on your phone wirelessly to a DLNA compatible TV/device
2. Stream music you have stored on your phone wirelessly to a DLNA compatible TV/device
3. Show pictures you’ve taken on your phone wirelessly to a DLNA compatible TV/device
4. Stream movies/music/pictures wirelessly from a DLNA compatible device to you phone
Before I go into details about using DLNA I’ll give you a quick overview of what kit I’ve got that makes it all possible. Firstly, I’ve got a Synology NAS which is DLNA compatible (other brands exist!) and stores all my media files. Secondly I’ve got a Windows Media Centre 7 PC hooked up to my main TV. And thirdly a HTC Desire, this must be running a Gingerbread rom with Sense. I mostly use Robo’s roms which have been working a treat but have been trying out some others recently but with mixed results, hopefully we can get these issues ironed out though.
So to be able to send media to my TV the first thing I need to do is turn on media streaming in Media Player. Hit the Stream button and choose Turn On Media Streaming. The default settings are fine so you can keep them. Next hit the Stream button again and choose Allow Remote Control Of My Player. Now you need to grab you Desire, make sure it’s connected to you WLAN and from the Apps menu click on Connected Media and choose the type of media you want to send. You should then be prompted to select the player, choose the player you’ve just setup in Windows. If you’re not prompted there’s a little button in the bottom right, just above the full volume icon, click it. Bingo, your chosen media will then be streamed to the computer and in my case the TV that’s connected to it.
Next up the more exciting bit, and the bit I use the most, streaming from my NAS to my Desire. Different NAS boxes will have different ways to enable DLNA but on my Synology it was just a matter of clicking on the box that turns that feature on and storing media in the shares it created. On your phone in the Apps menu choose the Video app. Click the button in the bottom left, the one with 3 parallel lines, you should end up at the Albums menu. Scroll along the strip at the bottom to Connected Media where it should search you network a DLAN devices. Select the device you want to stream from and you’ll be present with the DLNA folders on you NAS. Drill in through the folders to the movie or music you want played on your Desire, kick back and enjoy!
Over the weekend I’ll try and get some screen shots added, pictures say a millions words, and see if I can reword the guide to make it simpler to follow. Just wanted to get something up quick to help a fellow member out.

nicely explaned, thanks for the tuto,
i've just checked my tv, i think i might need an RS lead or something to connect it to my laptop, problem is tv is too far from where the lapy is, but i got another solution , my satellite box (spiderbox) can be setup as a home stream server, did it from this guide http://cccam-exchange.com/viewtopic.php?f=211&t=509 it has got that feature cos i've set it up and connected already to an external server to watch the europeen leagues footie it's plugged to BT Hub, i think all i need is a wifi bridge to the sat box to save me putting the laptop by the tv, as i'm using it,don't want a long lead, gets in the way , i'll do bit of reading on that, to set it up and see when get time.
however i did plug the phone to sat box via usb (mounted), (satbox is PVR ready) , accesed the whole sd card content.using the satbox remote ,never knew that before till when this DLNA subject popped up, opened up a new feature for me.
cheers.

Robos latest test rom. Its got to be running gingerbread and sense.
Sent from my HTC Desire
Video resolution is low. And i guess VLC stream & convert is more suited to me. So i'll mainly use this for audio. Thanks for the solution. Easiest method that I found to stream music from my computer to my phone.
Do you think it could be possible to use a GN as a portable device on an Xbox.. I connected via USB and it shows as a media device on the gn but nothing on the Xbox. Xbox is supposed to recognize mtp devices..
I dl a torrent and wanted to try it.. I prob will get a mhl cable but for the moment I was just wondering
Thanks
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Same question. I wasn't able to get my XBOX to see photos or videos on my GN.
This did work on my Droid Charge.
If you download Twonky Server then you can stream over wifi as long as the Xbox and the phone are connected to your home internet it will stream over dlna I do it all the time it works great. The app is only 2.99 but you can get a trial mode to make sure it works
according to details on MTP, the xbox 360 and PS3 can both read MTP devices, but i haven't gotten either of them to read the GN. Safe to say they're not going to work.
but as angelino said, you can use streaming apps and those will work just fine.
Literally yesterday I tried an iPhone gnex and a W7 phone with an Xbox on the new dashboard and none of them worked I think it currently is a problem with the new dashboard as it only in the end recognized a standard USB stick with songs on it

Is there a way to transfer files in mass via WIFI Direct to desktop? I don't want to use AirDroid that has some relation to someone else network...
I like the 1080p video and pics...and want to transfer them via wifi direct. I can't seem to find anything out there for it. Is hardwire the only way?

This is a good one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smarterdroid.wififiletransfer
I prefer this one though. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dooblou.WiFiFileExplorerPRO
I use AndFTP
I use this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.theolivetree.ftpserver&hl=en
Bluetooth is another option. A Bluetooth adapter can be had for a USB port cheap. I have a USB 4.0 adapter I got from a local office supply store for my desktop at work. This also allows me to stream Pandora through the speakers on the desktop PC, among other helpful things.
At home I have a NAS drive that is connected via FTP using ES file explorer. Works fine. Also, DLNA is an option, that works for me too. I can enable DLNA on the phone and copy to and from the device using my PS3 and laptop, or play music off my phone through my PS3, do photo slide shows, etc.
