Ok so I just unrooted my phone and camera still don't work damn!!! What else can I do?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

You need to get a replacement brother. So it was your actual camera. Sprint will probably give you one at no cost if you have insurance. Hmmmm

Yea I think it is man that's what I'm gonna do
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

I'm willing to bet you $100 bucks if you walk in a corporate store and let the tech look at it you'll walk out the store with another device at no cost. Just don't tell them you EVER rooted or tampered with the device in anyway. I would would say "the camera just all of a sudden went out when taking a picture". Sprint reps are usually idiots (no offense to xda sprint reps) but these techs will bite on anything you tell them.

Like which corporate store? And yea Sprint reps are so stupid man

Even if you don't have insurance you get a one year warranty anyways, I'd just walk in there anyways and make them swap it out. Just handle the situation good man, I've had about 2 evos lol (not my fault). Just go in there and at least act like you know what you're talking about; conversation rules the nation!

Did you unroot and flash a stock rom or did you merely unroot keeping a custom rom & kernel in check? If it is the latter, I would have suggested that you flash a different kernel. The ONLY time I had problems with the camera was with kernels that my device didn't play well with. If it is the former, then take your device to the Sprint store and attempt to get a replacement device.

Ohhh hell yea I'm going tomorrow

I was under the impression that when you unrooted you ran the ruu lol. If you haven't ran the official htc 3.70 ruu you should do that man. You will need to already have htc sync on your computer. If you do this and still have cameras problems I'd get a replacement.
Here's the link to the official ruu, it will bring your phones completely back to stock.
http://goo-inside.me/supersonic/sto...15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe

But how ima do that if I'm unrooted already? I unrooted my phone using the Unrevoked method
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App

The unrevoked just put you S-ON, it didnt unroot you. You need to run a RUU, either via your PC or through the bootloader, the bootloader would be easiest for you. Search for unroot thread, should be able to find the ZIP right away.

I'd run the ruu anyways just for peace of mind. It can't hurt anything at all its just a windows exe program you run to update your rom to factory image.
Just rename this file to PC36IMG.zip and flash in hboot like cordell said.
http://goo-inside.me/supersonic/sto...15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip

Can you post the link of the method you used, if I'm not mistaken as cordell stated above I will only put s-on. You still need to ruu. What rom are you on? Can you go into settings and check what kernel you have?

In the Unrevoked method I have another file named PC36IMG.zip so what I'm gonna do, download that one anyways?

Oh yeah lol. Well Delete that one you already have, then you will have to download the one I posted, rename it, then put on root of sdcard and flash in hboot? Before you do all that do you mind telling me what kernel you have? Don't list all the letters just tell me what # and what's at the end.

Come on HTC.. messing with our hboot is like messing with our emotions..
I would advise anyone against trying to root a device with the new 2.02 hboot until a method is confirmed safe.

Yes they will because securities are off. Check out the development threads and download the stock (e.sprint) image zip. Youll need the PC36.IMG and stock unrooted rom. There is a helpful guide that will help you as well. Good luck!
Probably depends on whose checking it. How would they find out? Do they plug it in to something and it tells them?
Perfect thanks. I have the s-on tool and the ruu zip. Hopefully goes smooth

Returning for warranty, full stock?

What is the best way to unroot? I have to send my phone back for warranty, I'm 16 so ill have to use my moms credit card and ill never hear the end of it if they charge her cause they know my phone is rooted. I need S-ON stock hboot stock radio(if it matters) and stock ROM, I read the guide on the unlocker.com but there's massive amount of comments saying they had problems or it didn't work. Any suggestions?

EVO 4G Beginner Questions

Thanks for reading.
I'm new to all this I paid a guy to root my phone. He seems to have done it right it's sff, and I have superuser, and opengarden wifi tether. Most rooted apps require busybox, do I need it? And if so how do I get it?
Please help and thanks again!
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
to get busybox, use busybox installer from the android market
Thank you I didn't think it was that simple.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Do I have to open it it's not in my app drawer?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yes. It should be in your app drawer. On your phone open the market and search for the app again. Check to see if it is installed. If it is installed, you should be given the option to either open the app or uninstall it. In that case select open.
Sent from my LG-P509 using xda premium
I downloaded tha installer it opened told me to choose my version chose v1.9 it said succesfully download but busybox itself is not in the drawer just the installer
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
oh then in that case, you are done. busybox installer is the app that you will see in the app drawer. busybox itself is a file (so it will not be in the app drawer).
in case you were wondering where it is located, it is located in either /system/bin or /system/xbin, depending on where you installed it (which can be found when you open up the busybox installer app)
Ok another question my evo is rooted but I have no custom rom or kernal is it juss me or does rooting alone basically kill battery life?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
rooting only gives you superuser and so should not affect battery life at all

Suggestion: save your money. It's not hard to do at all, just scary the first time. And you don't want to have to pay someone every time you want a new rom, need to update, need to unroot, have a problem, etc.
If you need help, send me a pm and I'll link you to some good resources and help you if you have any problems. And it won't cost you a dime. You root your phone to gain control over it, not to lose control and money.
There's a plethora of information and folks willing to help on this forum. Use the resources that are available for free and earn a hobby that you can be involved in, the outcome will be much better than paying this guy to do everything for you.

If you don't mind throwing away $35 then throw it to someone worth throwing it to.....like donating to developers. There are a ton of step by step instructions on how to flash custom roms to your phone. And 99% of these guides are designed specifically for noobs and first time rooters. Look at the stickies here in the Q&A section. They are packed full of information to know before you root as well as clear and noobproof step by step instructions. You can even find videos on youtube. Rooting and flashing custom roms the first time are always nerve racking because you are full of fear that you'll be "that guy" that bricks his phone. But once you've done the whole process from start to finish the first time you realize just how easy it is and then you laugh at yourself for being so worried in the first place. Save your money. Put it toward gas, beer, or donating to developers. There are plenty of people on here willing to do something like a video chat to walk you through it step by step for free.
You can not brick your phone by flashing ROMs.
The only way to brick thr EVO is by doing a battery pull while updating radios. That is it!
Read sticky's on these pages, pick a rom to try, download it to the main directory of your phone, reboot into recovery. Nand backup your phone, then flash the zip file you downloaded, enjoy! All free.
Donate to the Dev that created the Rom you like as they are the ones that make rooting fun and keep new ones coming.
Everyone on this site, started out just like you, only most did not pay to have a phone rooted.

This is the bone stock file that. Ame loaded on the phone. These will fix most problems people run in to. They have the modem, system, bootloader, and cache.
So odin files is to Samsung as ruu is to htc? Any hope for multi task screen Or should I not count on it?

Yup, just like an RUU. It won't really have anything to do with multiview, but with the files available, devs can get a little more creative and try new things without worrying about having no way to bring the phone back if they mess up. So that could potentially get people working on multiview.
