Hi,
After flashing MIUI XJ 1.4.22 A2SD ROM I am having problem with "Low on Space" notification. I did standard procedure: cleared data/cache/factory reset, flashed rom, terminal emulator(zipalign, cachesd), recover apps from backup..... and notification appear. Funny thing is that after that I checked ext3 partition only dalvik-cache folder is there but no app, app-private or data. Did flashing several time and always the same thing..
Now i'm back to 1.4.15 and every thing is working fine (internal cache 93mb with over than 40 apps on).
If someone has some clue how to solve this, it would be appreciated.
Problem solved...
and how? plz?
well this worked for me...
I installed 1.4.15 back (after wiping cache, factory reset.....). Did zipalign, cachesd, and restored my apps and settings from miui backup. At this point everything is working as it should. Then rebooted and went in clockworkmod recovery. Cleared only cache (not dalvik cache) and flashed 1.4.22. Rebooted phone and after quite a long booting(than usual).... voala everything is working.
The only difference that i can see when flashing first time 1.4.22 and previous version is that i tried first install 1.4.22 ota update and it stoped with error when flashing. After i tried classical full install of rom and it installed with a2sd problems. Dalvik cache was on ext3 partition but i suspect that it was also in data/....
I tried also moving dalvik cache with a2sdgui but it didn't help.
I hope this helps you.
I installed terminal app and did:
Code:
$ su
# a2sd reinstall
Now it seems to work just fine. Hope this helps.
hi
a few months ago i used Starburst FROYO ROM and it had the most stable a2sd implemented i ever used. recently i switched to MIUI XJ 1.4.x but my a2sd isn't working properly...
if i look into settings>sd card settings it tells me that i have
sd card: total space xGB and available space xGB
a2sd+: total space - 509MB available space - 404MB
but if i look with app2sd app it tels me that i have 147MB of internal mem and only 15MB left free
and i starting to get "low space" warning
i've tryied to do $ su # a2sd reinstall but it doesn't changed anything
i am on MIUI 1.4.29
thanks
When I reflashed, what I did is the following:
# su
# a2sd check
# a2sd cachesd
Click to collapse
That worked for me.

I'd appreciate any help.
Not sure when it started, but I flashed LeeDroid 1.4b after a wipe, as usual. But since then, I noticed that a2sd wasn't working. Installed Quick System Info and it said a2sd storage information was unavailable.
Since then, I've repartitioned my SD via recovery, and it still isn't working.
Ideas?
Sent from my DeVillain using XDA App
I have since tried Pays, OpenDesire & DeVillian again. Still nothing. I entered a2sd cachesd into the terminal, but it said 'a2sd permission denied'
a2sd has completely died now
Get a2sd working w/ an ext3. However, I can't clear it. At all.
Using ClockworkMod recovery and it wipes data and cache fine, but sdext always fails.
Also can't update Rom Manager. Flashed the 2.06 a2sd fix, bit it always fails on installation?
Help?

i would use a linux-live-cd with gparted (google for it) and a cardreader, so you can repartition and reformat your sd-card with it.
I am very confused by the current situation with having additional space for apps on Cyanogen 6.1 RC1
I was previously running 6.0.2 and used the DarkTremors A2SD with a 512Mb partition and all worked well without issue.
When I attempted to upgrade to 6.1 RC1 my Desire hung at the operator screen and wouldn't move any further.
After doing some reading I was led to believe that this was due to EXT3 partitons not being supported on 6.1 and that the 'prefered' method of gaining additional space was to use CustomMDT.
I followed the instructions on
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/...nd-installing-cyanogenmod6-gapps-cmtd-dta2sd/
Where I
blew away the 512Mb partition (now all FAT32),
Copied the mtdpartmap.txt (for firerats)
flashed the MTD recovery,
wiped cache, system and boot
Rebooted
Flashed 6.1 RC1
Flashed google apps
Flashed the MTD boot
Rebooted
When I restart however I only have 90mb of internal phone storage available.
I even tried using Daedelus82's but that made no difference.
I must be going wrong somewhere....
Can anyone help????
DarkTremors app2sd script posted in the nightly CM thread worked just fine for me. Only thing you have to do manually is putting dalvik cache to SD afterwards and you get full 144MB free space.

Can you tell me how you do this please?
You need an ext3 partition like before and flash this DT script after ROM install :
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12542/dtapps2sd-2.7.5-rc1-cm6-bravo-signed.zip
then when booted, in Terminal emulator type:
su
a2sd cachesd (move dalvik to sd card)
Phone will reboot after and there should be more space available after (144mb on Desire stock mtd partitions). Works perfectly for me.
really strange. It worked no problem at all when I wiped and reinstalled everything.
Wonder why it wouldn't allow me to upgrade.....
Thanks the help! Back up and running
So yesterday i followed ALL the instructions perfectly from the NOOB proof tutorial to putting on a custom ROM. Only difference i made was i have a FAT32, EXT3, and an Unallocated space because i heard thats what was needed for running XJ MIUI ROMs
Then I wiped system data, wiped cache, wiped dalvik cache, installed custom zip from my sd (Tried ALL three versions (Ap2sd+,D2W,D2EXT)) and it would just stay at the S-OFF boot screen.. Tried waiting 10-15 minutes but NOTHING. Then i had to take my battery out and do a restore of my backup to keep my phone alive.
Can someone PLEASE help me, i really want MIUI 1.4.15.. What is going on with my desire?!

Format it again but only with Fat32 and Ext3 (or Ext4). The go for the Ap2sd+ version.
From the rom thread:
INSTALLATION:
- Full Wipe + Wipe Dalvik Cache if coming from a non MIUI Rom
- Install zip from sdcard
- Reboot, see wintimer log for waiting time, as if it's accurate, ha ha
- Choose English locale in Settings if you get Chinese, it should be EN by default
ACTIVATING A2SD+:
- get terminal from market
- Type su
- Type a2sd zipalign
- Type a2sd cachesd
I'm running the a2sd+ version of the latest Miui XJ rom.
In the beginning there were no issues but today I tried installing/upgrading a few apps and I'm getting the "not enough space to install this application" error.
Even though I have:
+300MB of 2,73GB left on my SD card,
A2SD: 880MB of 940MB left
Internal Memory: 210MB of 291MB left
System Storage: 14,59 of 145MB left
System cache 3,46 of 5MB left
Memory 196MB of 406MB left.
I had to manually move the installed applications to the SD disk.
I was under the impression that when using the A2SD+ rom that it did all of this automaticly.
What is wrong with this rom or a2sd+?
I also tried the following (from the Miui-XJ thread)
- Type su
- Type a2sd zipalign
- Type a2sd cachesd
- You may even need to do a2sd reinstall
Click to collapse
And what happens?
Did you do "a2sd reinstall" ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
yes I did an a2sd reinstall as well. I'm still getting the disk full error.
How many apps you have installed?
I don't know the solution but I have/had the same issues.
Until now a simple reboot fixed it all the time for me...
Would be nice to know what's causing it though.

I have 23 apps installed.
Wipe, reflash, reinstall, cachesd, try again?

Try a2sd reinstall, reboot to recovery, wipe dalvik cache and boot.
I installed the X-PART version now and everything seems to be ok now, Apps wise.
Hey guys,
First my compliments for the beautiful ROM of WoH! I've upgraded my old Desire from Cyanogen 7 to WoH's PA 4.2.2 for my girlfriend and I am jealous.. it looks better than CM 10 on my HTC One!
Problem
But unfortunately, I am running into problems. The problem is that after installing the ROM and switching on a2sd, any download from the play store greets me with 'error 491'.
What I have tried
Usual solutions from Google and this forum are:
- Remove google account (Accounts, google account remove), reboot, readd
- Clear data of Play store, reboot readd, reboot
- Clear user data / factory reset, ad2sd install
- Tried both YourZgapps XS Normal and Multi DPI versions
I have tried these to no avail, the error persists.
What I exactly have done
- Formatted the 4 GB SD into 2 primary partitions, 3073 MB FAT32 and 1023 MB ext4, in windows using MiniTool
- Put the ROM, and GAPPS on the FAT32 partition by SD cardreader
- Boot into recovery, twice performed 'wipe data/factory reset' and 'wipe cache'
- Install from zip, installed ROM and GAPPS
- Reboot, open terminal, did:
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
a2sd install, choose Y -> N -> Y
Click to collapse
- Reboot
Error when trying to install any app from the Play Store, exact error is '<Appname> “could not be downloaded due to an error 491.”'
Did I make an obvious mistake which I ma failing to see? Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for your quick answer, mister WoH! The link points at the MediaProvider package for Android 4.3.2., while the ROM I installed is Android 4.2.2., is this alright? I'll give it a try anyway :good:
Would you say 4.3.2. is better (more stable or so) than 4.2.2.?
Didn't realize you were at 4.2, sorry.
I'd go for 4.3
Edit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2402514 might help you for 4.2.2
So apparently I installed 4.3 as 4.2.2. ROM (in that thread, the link points to the 4.3! ), so no surprise that GApps didnt work properly.
So, 4.3.. I didn't find instructions in the OP, so I gave it a go:
- Full Wipe
- From Recovery, installed in sequence:
- pa_bravo-3.99-RC2-20131011.zip
- pa_bravo-3.99-RC2-20131011-fix-s.zip
- pa_gapps-full-4.3-20131010-signed.zip
- Reboot
After reboot, internal memory is completely full, even though during the installation PA GApps says it moved GApps to sd-ext.
Terminal su / a2sd tells me:
a2sd=apps dc2sd=dalvik-cache a2sd=appdata
so I guess a2sd should work.
What did I do wrong?
Aaaand btw: Happy Birthday!
I believe this is your problem:

Do not use windows software to make linux partitions. It only works on very rare occasions.
My bet is that your partitions are not properly aligned, hence why A2SD doesn't work.
Backup your sd card (just copy the visible FAT32 contents to PC) and repartition with gparted or 4EXT recovery only, nothing else.
Copy stuff back to sd, then full wipe and reinstall ROM again to be on the safe side.
Nice tutorial, will use next time!
So far I just had to execute su | mount -o,rw /system | a2sd install Y N Y, and it works.
Now everything seems to be working, ie. downloading from Play store and the extended memory.
WoH and eddiehk6, thank you for your time!
I have two small and short remaining questions:
- How much memory should be indicated at Settings, Storage, Internal Memory?
Currently it shows something like 170 MB used / 110 MB free, and that with a sd-ext of 1 GB.
- Is 4EXT recovery much better than CWM recovery? Worth the upgrade?
Thanks again!

If you are still on stock hboot (which I'm assuming you are) you should have 148mb of internal storage. If you ran the "y,n,y" a2sd configuration, your only your app data will be left on the internal memory. The apks and dalvik will be moved to the ext partition.
And yes 4ext is worth the upgrade from cwm. It does everything that cwm can do and includes some other useful features, plus its touch based so you no longer have to mash your hardware keys.
