[Q] Vanilla Messenger not saving settings - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently installed vanilla messenger onto my CM7 and the settings keep reverting back to default settings when I change them. They would last one text then revert to the default settings. Does anyone know how to make the changes permanent?
The changes I want to make are unlimited threads (i.e. no deletion of old texts), always vibrate, enter is line break, and 12 pt font. These get reverted to limited threads, never vibrate, enter is send, and 18 pt font.

WM6.1 Text Messaging

In WM6, when I had several new text messages I could do the following:
1. Go into Text Messages
2. Read the first new message.
3. On the navigation buttons i could push the "left" button and the "right" button to go back and forth between messages.
The above steps no longer work with the ROM I downloaded from this forum (WM6.1 080408 Final For Excalibur WWE with English - By Kavana). I did download and install the eT9 fix already.
Thanks!
Threaded
Are you using threaded messaging or the old email style messaging? One of the best things about 6.1 is that you can use threaded messaging. To enable it, go to start - settings - accessibility - SMS Inbox threading and enable it. After that make sure to actually close the messaging app, or if you prefer restart the phone. Not exactly what you were looking for, but it makes texting so much better imo and makes switching between messages the old fashioned way irrelevant.
Yes, I am using threaded messaging. However sometimes I get messages from more than one person -- or I get alerts for work and I need to scroll through them all. It would be nice to be able to navigate to the next message with one button rather than three.
Then turn off threading messages.
Should work the old fashion way.

[Q] New ROM, won't announce new txt msgs

After upgrading to the new ATT Tilt2 ROM, I've lost the ability to have new text messages read out loud. I've got the option set to Announce New Messages, and it'll still read new emails coming in, but not text messages...anyone know of any menu or registry setting that might restore the reading of text messages???

Click to collapse
Start > Settings > Personal > Voice Command
Highlight Messaging, tap Options, and uncheck the box that says "High priority messages only."
Yep, I've already done all that...I did it when I first got the new ROM loaded.
I've enabled/disabled/enabled it a number of times since then, and one time, a message did come in and get 'announced'. After that, silence again
That's why I'm looking for a registry setting somewhere--I'm sure something's gotten messed up.

[Q] No option to set SMS conversation limit in Synergy

Hey everyone,
I'm running Synergy RLS1, and have a quick question regarding the SMS/MMS apk. I know on the stock ROM, there's a setting to set a conversation limit that will auto-delete old texts as new texts come in, but it's completely missing in the Synergy ROM.
Unless it's been moved to some obscure settings menu...? I'm thinking flashing a stock 3.0 mms.apk would bring the menu back, but I'm not sure.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Nate
Bump for some help!
Bump again...
Huge sms threads slow the whole ROM down. Where is this option?
delete SMS automaticaly
Did you ever find your answer, I am interested in the same option. Like you can't find it anywhere. I might have to flash a different ROM as well, I have a few threaded conversations that I restored that are several thousands messages. Not good for performance.
I really like the Synergy - Sense 3.0 interface, I have decided that I will just download an App from the market to delete the messages in batches. There are several that will batch delete text messages, based on several conditions. I like the simple 300 conversation limit, gives me good performance and since I automatically backup my text messages with another App, if I need to reference my messages, I can just log into my Gmail account.
This will allow me to use the Synergy ROM.

[Q] Question about The People's ROM GS3.14 sms

I was wondering on sms numbering as in when you hit the character limit and continued a long text and when i hit send it no longer numbers the pages of the long text any more since i updated The People's ROM GS3.14. Since my signal usually not that great. sometimes my texts overlap not making sense but the automatic numbering when you passed the limit helped. is there a way to get that back? or do i have to revert back to previous versions in order for my texts to start numbering longer texts? thanks in advance.
Go into the messaging app settings and uncheck auto combination

default stuff for SMS/Messaging/text

when I complete an SMS and close out or go back to home, the next time I open the app, it defaults to the last text.
Is there a way to get it to default to the list of all texts instead?
is there a way to sort text alpha instead chrono?
