Hi guys.
I'm tryin to get ad-hoc networks to work with my Desire Z (Got a AR DRONE coming in in a few days)
Im using this guide,
http://exop.pro/blog/2010/08/15/ad-hoc-support-for-android/
I've ran this command in adb shell
wpa_supplicant -v
It returns wpa_supplicant v0.6.10
Is it safe to use the 6.00 files in the guide?
This is not a dev its a question. Please read the rules. Not to mention there is already an adhoc thread. This needs to be deleted
dont send me pm's crying about how i hurt your feelings in a thread

Hi
sorry for asking but i did not find anything fitting to my question here and on google within two days of research:
Is there any way to connect to a AdHoc-WIFI-Network with a desire using stock rom (unrooted)?
I have the following information:
SSID
Network-IP
Host-IP (of the other device)
Own IP (Or if possible use DHCP)
Subnetmask
Host-MAC
Thanks for any help!
I was going through the steps in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=962974
for installing debian into my defy with android 2.1
but when connecting to vnc using the vnc client mentioned in the post, it simply showing vnc connection error. by looking through the last 2 posts in that topic i think this same issue is there for many others also? And while searching, i didnt find any solutions for the same.
Somebody please help me!
If this post makes a violation to any of your rules. I am sorry! :/
Ive done everything possible but apparently my version is not the right one, Im on the Bell network and Im very excited about this. Any help whatsoever would be great. Thanks.

If you are not running a T-Mobile G2 with HTC kernel 2.6.32.17, you MUST also give the kernel some other configuration options too! Pull the file /proc/kallsyms and search for the address values of acpu_freq_tbl and perflock_notifier_call. When loading the module, specify these addresses along with any other parameters: insmod vision_oc.ko acpu_freq_tbl_addr=0xc055e1a0 perflock_notifier_call_addr=0xc006c974
This is what I need to do but what does it mean?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Hello,
My name is Mirek and I am new here, that is my first post on that forum so if I write something wrong please forgive me and suggest me the right answear.
BACKGROUND:
I would like to overclock my HTC Desire Z also and I have made temproot (confirmed with the help of "Root Checker"), because I do not want to have a perm root or make complicated and risky (can brick the phone) downgrades of Android version and I do not want to loose my guarantee from the seller.
PROBLEMS:
(1.) Later on I have uploaded special scripts to my sd card and with the help of Gscript I have tried to use those scripts (I know there is also possibility to upload scripts to "/data/local/" without of Gscript app) but when I do that some error occure which says: "insmod: init_module '/data/local/vision_oc.ko' failed (Exec format error)".
(2.) From my later investigation and read post from different forums I know that is because file which I have uploaded to sd card "vision_oc.ko" has not actual addresses related to my current kernel version.
I have downloaded addresses from my Desire Z and I am enclosing that to this post (“kallsyms.zip”). I can find there address of “perflock_notifier_call”, but I can not find there „acpu_freq_tbl” address…
QUESTIONS:
(1.) Is it possible that the „acpu_freq_tbl” address is hiding on some another designation?
(2.) Maybe someone has already properly modified "vision_oc.ko" file for version of kernel "2.6.35.10-g7b95729" and can send me that so I can try?
(3.) I am enclosing to that post “kallsyms.zip” file with addresses from my Desire Z, maybe someone experienced can prepare new "vision_oc.ko" with the right addresses from the file which I enclose “kallsyms.zip” or at least can suggest how can I modify that "vision_oc.ko" by myself?
Can someone help me with that?
My kernel version is:
2.6.35.10-g7b95729
[email protected] #1
Android version:
2.3.3
Compilation no.:
2.42.405.2
Link to vision_oc.ko made in past by Michael Huang (coolbho3k) but for Kernel 2.6.32.17:
ww w.github.com/coolbho3k/vision_oc
I have googled and googled. . I haven't blinked in hours. .I digress
I built AOSP from source with CM7 vendor script. Compilation was successful and I used dsixda's kitchen to mod the .img files. I flashed and logcat is getting.
Code:
I/logwrapper( 77): /system/xbin/busybox terminated by exit(0)
I/Netd ( 239): Netd 1.0 starting
E/Netd ( 239): Unable to start DnsProxyListener (No such file or directory)
I'm pretty much stuck here. Suggestions?
HTC EVO. AOSP boot.img (Salvage-Zen Kernel)
everything else is AOSP
EDIT: This is 2.3.3 via master.git

Only 4-hours to the first troll alert. Let's break it down...compiling code...hmm, sounds kind of like a task performed in a developing environment...probably use the Android SDK (software Development kit). Now, where would one ask a question related to compiling for an Evo 4G using the Android software Development kit? Maybe under Evo 4G Android Development...where the developers (that's they guys that know the answers to such questions) hang out?
I can understand if he posted a lame question such as, "What kernel should I use?" or, "How do I get the wifi to work?" when its been asked and answered twenty times in each of a hundred threads when someone is too lazy to search. But do we need the forum Nazis to leap in with the same lame crap every time it looks like it might be possible to interpret a post as such 'n' such?
Used to be that everything Android what here on xda. Now, many devs have created their own forums and web sites, and will no longer post here because they're tired of dealing with crap exactly like this. Gee, I wonder why.
Thank you for your time.

I am a troll that can read and I read through the forum for the answer that I need before posting random questions in the "development" thread. Here goes 2 relevant threads that this question should of been posted in: 1.) Link Here
or 2.) Link Here these are both in development section.
So for future reference, you need to learn to read or keep out of things you are not familiar with.

I want to change my mac address of my fire tv stick 4k (Fire os 6.2.6.5) to a specific one, but how can I achieve that?
Short story: I have 2 Amazon fire Tv sticks 4k and the one has a license for an app. I want to use this app on both devices without having 2 licences. But how could I change the mac adress of the 2nd one to the adress of the 1st one
Has anyone an idea?

You can use your router to spoof a MAC address
But this isn't going to work to install an app

MAC adresses and all this stuff are located in the mmcblk0boot1. To modify them you can use the binary that Amazon implements in /system/bin (vendor/bin) if mantis has vendor partition. Basically in a root shell use the tool "idme".
Regards.

To change your WiFi MAC:
Root device.
Connect to pc, open command prompt & type:
Code:
adb shell
su
idme mac_addr <[B]NEW MAC ADDRESS WITH NO ::: [/B])
reboot
After the device reboots your WiFi MAC address will be whatever you set it to.
Edit: I just read your first post, this this also means one won't connect to your WiFi as two devices on the same network can't have the same MAC addresses. It's also against XDA's rules to discuss piracy, so I recommend you just purchase the app again for your other device.

thanks for the answer I tried it through the ADB. Idme returns that I have no Permissions for that folder. So I probably need to root my device first. But how is it possible the access a root shell with the Fire tv stick 4k?

Thanks for your reply too Its not about piracy, I have contacted the vendor regarding my issue and he said that he is not able to give me a 2nd license. If I want to do it on the MAC-Way - its up to myself. So no worries ^^
All in all the question is: How can I root the 4k Stick without to dismantle it I would really appreciate help

I don't think you can root without unlocking the bootloader & to do that, you need to open the device: https://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-tv/orig-development/unlock-fire-tv-stick-4k-mantis-t3978459
As I said before though, if your devices have the same MAC addr, one won't connect to the router.
