do you keep the unlock after the nodo update? - Windows Phone 7 General

Sorry newbie question ehre and search is not giving me relevant results.
If the phone is unlocked and I update to NoDo, will it still be unlocked?

It will remain unlocked IF you do the prevent relock before upping to nodo.
Once on nodo, a hard reset will relock it and you'll have to revert back to 7008 unlock, prevent relock and then update to nodo again

Is there a way to roll Zune back if that's what's blocking Chevron from relocking?

So, I've been trying to unlock my phone again since getting the update to 7008 and not having the prevent relock xap installed at the time. However, here is my dilemma and was wondering if anyone could help. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12542855&postcount=960

[Q] Should I give up the Chevron unlock?

Before the NoDo update I unlocked my phone (Omnia 7) with the Chevron unlock. I encountered some terrible bug(s) so I applied the NoDo update to see if that'd help. It didn't. The phone still stayed unlocked even with the update, so I was wondering if it's worth it to reset my phone and (maybe) lose the unlock for good (since it won't work with phones with NoDo installed and I think that's what I'll get if I reset the phone). So, anyone think it's worth it?

I think you don't need to "Re-Lock" your phone before getting NoDo update.

You don't need to. What I'm wondering is if the phone will re-lock itself if I reset it. I'm thinking it'll use the NoDo version to reset itself, which doesn't work with the Chevron unlock, and I won't be able to unlock the phone again. I wonder if it's worth it to reset the phone and probably lose the unlock I applied to the phone. I'm experiencing bugs where i can't use the marketplace on the phone to buy or update anything, and apps that didn't come with the phone crash after ~15 minutes.
Sounds like reset time... I would say better to have the device working properly without unlock than not at all with it...

[Q] Can anyone spare me moment to get me up to date re: ROM development?

Hi. I've been off the Arc ROM development scene for quite a few months but I'm back now and have been trying to read threads to get some idea of where we are up to now.
When I left, the boot-loader had been successfully unlocked and the phone rooted, Woohoo! Then we discovered that the SEUS threw its toys out of the pram if it met an unlocked handset, Bummer!
I see the situation re: SEUS and unlocked phones hasn't changed but I also see that someone has worked out a way to re-lock the bootloader.
Can we have a re-locked phone that is also rooted now? I would like to be able to use the SEUS updater but I want to keep my apps that require root access.
So if anyone can let me know what the current state of affairs is I'd be very grateful and have less headaches from reading miles and miles of posts!
Phil :-D
The namaste guide should help.

I know that you don't have to have an unlocked bootloader just to have root but what I would like to know is if I could unlock it to run some custom kernels for overclocking and then relock it for S E. updates ?
You can relock it and use SEUS.
But FlashTool will do it too without relocking it.

because i want to try some ROM`s But the problem is when i want to sell !! so please if anyone know tell me ..
noo, everybody who knows develop android like roming and other things, are needed to bootloader unlock, and who dont know that, will dont know about bootloader too
thats defo untrue. unlocking the bootloader will void the warranty and people who dont know about it will notice that they cannot update via SEUS or PCC..

And how would the person you were selling it to know that the bootloader was unlocked unless you told them or they were clued up? I think it would be good form to re-lock it but there is NO way that the loss of the DRM keys would effect the value. For me I would pay more for an unlocked boot loader.
So if i relock the bootloader, could i get then the pgrade ota or through seus or pc companion? Does it worth the effort?

Lol, why don't you just pay less for a locked bootloader and then unlock officially for free using official SE bootloader unlocking?

Unlocking bootloader

If I unlock the bootloader on my new N7 and leave it stock, just unlock the bootloader so in the future if I choose to root, will this prevent new and future updates? I just want to unlock the bootloader right away and just use it stock. I know if you unlock the bootloader it erases all personal data & filed. just ordered my new tablet, N7 with LTE. My first Nexus Tablet, very excited.
Thank You, Vinny

Thanks for reply. First thing I do will be unlocking bootloader so if I choose to root down the road I won't loose all my data.
Thanks again, Vinny
