OK, I know this sounds crazy, but...
I rooted my Desire late last year and I have tried several different ROMs on it. Most recently I was using Oxygen 2.0.3 and it was fine. I should have left it alone, but no I had to try something else. I installed MS_signed_CM_RC4 and although all seemed OK during the install, on re-boot, it would not go past the splash screen.
Then I saw LeeDroid v3, so I have been concentrating on getting that running. Unfortunately now it seems that regardless of the ROM, I cannot get past the splash screen.

I have been using CWM 2.5.0.7 for a long time now and it's been just fine. I just tried to update this to 3.0.0.5-bravo, but again, it seemed to install, but I presume that because the phone will not complete a full boot sequence, it reverts back to 2.5.0.7.
I am totally frustrated with the phone and am willing to try anything to get it operational again. I would even consider going back to the original RUU, but I cannot see how I can do that from Recovery, which is the only thing that seems to be currently working.
Any ideas would be welcome.

have you tried to reinstall the Oxygen ROM (seeing that one worked for you in the past)? copy the rom down to your SD card, boot the phone into recovery and see how that goes.
Yes, thanks that was the first thing I tried! No luck - it just gets to that splash screen and hangs.
Do it again but now with a full wipe (data/factory reset and cache) you can try other roms as well but make sure you read some of the rom thread because I believe some other people also have boot issues with leedroid v3.

If you had a backup.. just restore via recovery
Well, now I am embarrassed. I had a backup and didn't think about using it. I have just done so and all is well with the world again - Oxygen is restored. Call me stupid!!!!
and thanks, so much!!
Cheers

if you still want to go to LeeDrOiD 3.0.2 you'll need to S-off using alpharev for newest HBoot before anything else
but people do need to realise it is beta though so expect problems

Hoping somebody can help me, as I am lost as to what to do next.
Background
I have a unlocked Desire, which I have rooted and flashed a MoDaCo rom (r9-bravo-desire-modacocustomrom-withadditions-a2sd-signed), which has been working with no problems for last couple of months.
Not sure if this is relevant, but installed Regina 3D launcher a few days ago, but again this seemed to be working fine. However 2 days ago the phone frooze on on of the launcher's screens. I took the battery out and have been unable to get the phone working again since.
Most of the time the phone refuses to switch on at all, but occasionally will boot up. If I just switch on as normal the phone gets stuck on the initial HTC white screen. If I boot into Fastboot it appears to be working showing usual options. When I go to recovery the screen changes to 3 droids on skateboards and then after a while it goes back to fastboot screen with no options to update from zip, etc.
At the top of the screen at the fastboot screen it says

MI Corp-031d
Touch Panel - synt0101
Radio - 5.14.05.17

when the system does a check on the hboot screen the lines says no image found, and the last line says no image or wrong image found.
I have an Nandroid backup, a clockworkMod folder and the rom zip on the sd card but can't access any of them.
The phone is only 6 months old and I do not want to send it back in it's current state as the rooting and rom flashing has invalidated the warranty.
Can anyone suggest what to do next to get the phone working again. I feel that the rom may have been corrupted in some way and that it needs reflashing, but I can't access anything from the phone.
If I connect to pc if says it is an unrecognisable device
Last thing, which seems very odd, I don't seem to be able to switch the phone on until after 4pm!
If you can boot the phone into recovery you're not bricked. If the phone is not recognise by your computer when you plug it in, you are likely to have usb-brick which is easily corrected. Theres a thread in the dev forum somewhere. Also, if you can access recovery, whats stopping you from reflashing the same rom you were running?
I can see the recovery option, but it doesn't do anything. Three droids on skateboards appear and after a few minutes it goes back to the boot screen. I'll have a look at the usb brick thread.
Hmm so your recovery isnt working eh.. I'm not sure what would be the correct way to proceed right now, but you could try running the unrevoked rooting utility again. I think thats the easiest way to reflash your recovery, wouldn't hurt to try that
unrevoked won't work if your computers not picking up your Desire. Flash a recovery from fastboot would be the easiest way to get some functionality, i'd suggest CWM 2.5.1.8, in a addition you may have the USB Brick which is easy fixed if you can find the thread. Either way once you have CWM running again, restore your ROM from nandroid.
are you using ROM Manager and did you install CWM that way? If so you may have USB Brick but can't access the fake flash recovery. Maybe............
and for the future, consider using alpharev to S-Off your phone, makes mucking around with it a lot easier.

Currently trying to flash a rom from my pc to the desire, but my pc has been stuck on 'downloading 'boot.img'' for nearly 2 hrs now. I am loath to unplug it as I have had a lot of trouble connecting the phone to the pc and getting it recognised. Device manager still shows the phone as being connected.
The phone itself is unresponsive, stuck on the fastboot screen.
How long should it take to flash a rom from the pc to the phone? Also should it give some sort of progress info?
Cheers for the help.
My Desire Z stopped working the other day when trying to update angry birds rio, my phone would just freeze everytime it tried to resume the download (stopped at 92%)
The only way I could use my phone was battery pulls, and disabling all data connections.
After a fair few battery pulls (trying to cancel the download and what not) my phone would stop booting up (stayed at splash screen for ages)
Clockworkmod recovery can't find/mount cache, and won't let me either restore a backup or flash a new rom (I used superwipe).
I've tried everything I can think of, installing different versions of clockworkmod, using RUU's, flashing RUU's via PC10IMG and nothing works.
I can't boot into android to use adb, and I don't think I have an eng hboot so all fastboot commands I've tried have failed.

Do you have a warranty on your phone? If so we can all the way brick it using adb, and get it replaced.

If you can get into recovery you can do adb in there, there is something bout that error in recovery that can fix the error, I jus don't remember where, and purposly bricking phone nor gonna do much, try to fix it you can still get into hboot and recovery which is good, what you could do is downgrade phone and reroot, but that's another option after you try fixing recovery

1 no such thing as semi-brick
2 flash it ?
3 enjoy ?
I see you posted in the other thread that was started about the cache errors, so your best bet is to stick to that thread since it is directly about your issue. Random people coming into this thread will just throw suggestions out that won't work. Or hit the irc chat and see if someone is online that can help right away.

Firstly, I do apologise if this is a repeat question, so if you could redirect me to where the relavent information is, I'd be most grateful.
I am a newbie to all this flashing and hboots etc... but I would love to flash this rom as it would give me a taste of the gingerbread version as HTC seems to be taking ages to release the new version for the HTC Desire.
These are some specifications:-

I am currently running Froyo stock rom and my hboot was a stock hboot as well. (I think)
Having read your post, I decided to install the SGBS v1.7 rom to my phone. I may have mis-read or something, but I have failed misserably and would be most grateful if you could help.
I have tried to upgrade my hboot to cm7r2 using a dowload from the AlphaRev site, and flashed it using FastbootCommander. The flash goes through without a problem, and when I restart the phone in fastboot mode, the letters CM7 r2 have been added next to the name AlphaRev (in pink).
Following this, I erased all the memories, and installed the ROM in question. Upon reset however the phone hangs at the splash screen. Have I done something wrong?
I have also tried the Data++ ROM and this gets installed (with a stock hboot only) however it comes to a place where it says "Please wait loading...." and after about 15 mins, force closes.
From a recently made recovery backup, System - 250MB, Data - 56.5MB, cache 2MB. Is this the issue because AlphaRev states that hboot cm7r2 is System - 145MB, data - 287MB, cache 5M.
What would be your recommendation in order to install the sgbs rom.
Many thanks, your help is much appreciated.
Regards,
A.
Did you remember,go into recovery and turn off signatur verfication (till now its not signed)
[Q] "succesfully" Flashed phone hangs up and gets stuck at HTC splash screen
Hi,
I've got an odd issue with my GF's phone.
Specs:
Revolutionary rooted
Buzz PVT Ship S-off
H-Boot 6.01.1002
microp-0622
touch panel - Atmelc03-16ac
Radio: 3.35.20.10
Rom: KWBR Rom android 2.2.1
Kernel: 2.6.32.21-g0f9e9b5 htc [email protected]#1
After I flashed the KWBR rom it ran fine for a week or so untill it hung up. Manually switching off wasn't possible so had to take out the batt.
After restarting it hangs at the white HTC screen (without quietly brilliant) and stays there like forever.
Also resettting it in recovery to factory settings doesn't work out.
Ultimately re-flashed KWBR again but y'day it hung up again and everything described above happened again.
However on a normal restart/reboot/power off-power on it does what it's supposed to do.
Has Anyone experienced this before? and moreover anyone a solution? (because GF's get cranky when phones are messed up)
Have you tried flashing another ROM?
(Don't forget to do a nandroid backup )

What about other Sense ROMs, like RemPuzzle?
Will do when it hangs up again. however it looks that for Rempuzzle I have to partition my SD Card first before flashing.
if I understand correctly
Partition SD card, Swap 0
Then flash REMpuzzle and I'm good to go?
Can I instantly flash 2.43 or should I first flash 2.40 and then 2.43 ?
Back up your SD card first.
And yes, first flash 2.4.0 then 2.43.
HI all, Ive got a desire z and have been running mimicry 1.5.0 for the last month, its all been great, no major porblems and seemed stable. Yesterday voice search stopped working (wasnt picking up anything from the microphone), so I rebooted and it got stuck in a boot loop. It would get just past the animation then reboot back to the HTC screen. This morning I tried deleting caches and user data but that didnt help, so I re-installed mimicry and google apps.
That seemed to work, Id got apps installed again, it had been running for a couple of hours, then the gps stopped working - no satellites found. I did a reset again then it got stuck in another boot loop. Its now in a state where wiping data and re-installing wont fix it. Strangely after reinstalling the first boot will work for a few seconds, enough to select a country, then it just resets and then gets into a loop again, but now it wont get past the end of the animation.Ive just tried 'CM9.1-vision-3.0-Final' and that does the same. I guess this is about the time that its turning wifi on, so maybe its a radio problem?

Ive been trying a few things:
It doesnt matter if Ive got a SIM and/or microSD card in
Running off power or battery makes no difference
Ive flashed it back to mimicry 1.5.0 (its never rebooted in power+vol down or clockwork recovery) but there is some odd stuff:
Now even wiping everything and then installing mimicry, then google apps, I dont actually get maps etc.
It doesnt seem to want to power down, it says powering down, then reboots instead..
So Ive manged to get it back to a point where it will stay up for a minute or so, but trying to use the GPS / wifi seems to make it go back into a boot loop, although I did have it running for about an hour with wifi on without problems...
Ive captured some logs but none of them have anything that looks like major errors before they finish - none of them finish with similar entries anyway..
Any ideas what I can try to fix this?
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/w7im7e9v23tvm8y/IiSLtQmgF1
Copy the dz one to sdcard, rename PC10IMG.zip and flash through bootloader.
Remove image from SD and boot to recovery. Reformat all and flash ROM of choice (do a fresh download or check md5sum for match)
If it still has issues post a log cat so we can get an idea of issue better

Thank you so much for the reply and advice. Ive just followed your instructions and it seems to be working!!!!
Im going to give it a good test for the rest of the day, so far it hasnt rebooted unexpectedly at all - thanks
Whats in that zip file thats had an effect? I notice its the 4ext recovery now, was it just that it needed a reformat?
My assumption is that you needed to do a cleaner wipe, usually a good idea between flashes, either a fastboot wipe, superwipe script or the aio tool. At the very least the format option in 4ext is good
But it could have been the radio as well, being you tried a bunch already I figure a start fresh scenario was best or at least simple

The help that I needed!
Thank you so much!
I have a HTC Desire Z since two years. After I read a lot about it the last months i finaly tried to root it and flash CyanogenMod 7.2
A little bit of work, but 6 days ago I did it. But after that I had several Bootloops, again and again. I tried everything, superwipe, different ROMs, searched every possible combination of words with google, asked for help at our german Android-Help site, nothing worked permanently! I could do superwipe and then restore a nandroid backup or flash a differen ROM. It worked only for a short time.
Then, after the last bootloop, I was in the Bootloader and looked at the information on the top.
I gave it a try and searched for "vision pvt eng s-off hboot-0.84.2000 (PC1011000) Microp-0425 RAdio-26.03.02.18_m3 emmc-boot sep 8 2010, 15:56:38"; I got 3 links, the first was this one.
All that I had to do was to flash the zip file you provided, restart and: NO BOOTLOOP!
I hope it works permanently and again:
Thank You!
Heiner
