The title says it all really - I stumbled across a thread which said how to stop the voice files appearing as music files, but I have searched all over and cannot find the post that gave the easy answer - Gaaaah!!
So, can someone please tell me how to do this? I remember it's something to do with putting a line into the satnav files to stop this happening, but I just can't find the post in question. Help!!
you can either set a . in front of the foldername ( Sounds -> .Sounds for example) or place a file named .nomedia in the folder. the content of the file could be anything
Thanks, I'll try that

Can someone tell me if you can put the ringtones out of the windows directory? This probably is a repost, but I can't find the right thread...Thanks
Just create a folder on your storage cards My Docs called My ringtones and drop you files in there.
Your phone should see them without a problem and you should be able to use them
Thanks
Dave
Hello
You purpose is "My Docs/My ringtones" Right ?
On my phone I have "My Documents/Mes sonneries" (did you guess I'm french ?)
The "phone sound manager" find this folder and I can use it.
But the others "sound managers" (for instance alarmclock, sounds & notifications, etc) don't find the folder
So What's the problem ?
Thanks
Hello people,
I have a HTC Desire, a friend of mine is interesting in getting one for himself, he has aksed me a question but I don't know the answer so I thought I would ask here.
Basically what we want to know is it possible to hide files on the HTC Desire. Can this be done with or without using an app, if it can be done without an app howso. If I need an app, which one. Not sure if he wants to lock/hide or files to show under a fake name, can this be done.
His concern is that becuase of the way Android is all files would show up if someone was to look up the stuff on the phone/SD card.
Not sure if this makes sense
Thanks in advance for any help.
download filebro lite
Thanks for the prompt reply. Does this hide files. I think my friend wants to be able to hide any file. Also prevent certain media files from showing open when you open the image viewer/music player/video player etc
What I do to keep Gallery from listing my pornstars photos from it is:
With file manager (any, there are a bunch in the market) I created a hidden directory (any file/folder starting with period is hidden, so I named the folder .porn) and the gallery cannot see it. If I want to see the content of that dir, I start the file manager and browse in that directory.

This is a guide/ suggestion I done for another forum. It may work on winamp too but I'm not sure
Occasionally I like to listen to music on my phone however there is so many songs I like and I was sick of manually creating play lists on my phone every time I flashed over to a new ROM. I had a quick squint on the web and found a neat little program that creates play lists for you so when you transfer the album or song folder onto your Galaxy S your music player automatically builds the play lists for you!
Here’s my quick guide
1. Download the Playlist Creator program here http://www.oddgravity.de/app-opc.php and install
2. Create a folder on your pc and name it anything you like. I call mine “Galaxy Music”
3. Drop the albums you want on your Galaxy into this folder
4. Open the album you want to create the playlist for then open your playlist creator program
5. Drag the folder into the playlist creator and then all your songs from that album will appear.
6. Choose the file path to save the new playlist
7. Enter the name of the album where it says “name and type” then use the drop arrow to select .m3u
8. Click “Create Playlist” Now your saved playlist will be in the same folder as your songs for that album
9. Once you have created all your playlists for the music your putting on your phone you can drag the complete folder together with the sub folders on to your external sd card
To drag the files on to your sd card
1. Touch Settings – Wireless and network – USB Settings – then put a dot in either 2Mass storage or Ask on connection”
2. Plug your USB cable into your phone and then touch “Mass Storage” then “Connect USB”
3. Locate your external sd card and then simply drag your files on to it and load up. Once loaded up your all done!
Now when you go in to your music player you can instantly touch “playlists” and then choose what album you want to listen to so there’s no need to scroll down your music list to find your favourite song anymore!

On At&t sgs3 running 4.01 still i have some crappy music in my unknown artist and unknown song title. If i could find the location of these files on the phone i would like to delete them or correct them on my pc. I have searched google and followed other forms instructions and found nothing under these locations in the way of numbered mps files
/mnt/sdcard/android/data/com.google.music/files/music <-- no music folder on phone
Android\data\com.google.android.music.files.music <-- No folder named Android at root
/data/data/com.google.android.music/cache/music/ <-- no folder named music many sub folders
Has subfolder cache\files\music no files underneath that
sdcard-->Android-->data-->com.google.android.music-->cache-->music <-- no folder named music sub foler \.music\files
nothing under sub folder either
/sdcard/Android/data/ com.google.android.music /cache/music <-- same as above no folder named music
sd/data/data/com.google.android.music/files/music <-- no sd folder at root checked sdcard and no data folder
so yea i googled and searched and im looking for the location of the downloaded songs from google play music to my sgs3 from att with 4.01
please help im sick and tired of these songs being on my device as unknown artist

ok ,
im not sure if this is the solution to the sgs3 downloaded music prob but this is what i did. while looking in the previously mentioned folders i did eventually find some files that were marked with numbers and . mp3 file extensions. i do not remember which folder sorry ! but i erased them and then checked the play music and the files were still vi sable. i used the tools/settings and refreshed and they were still there. so i perceived that i had missed them. only after i rebooted the phone and looked again did these songs show as finally no media in libary. this leads me to believe that once you find the *.mp3 files and delete or whatever you choose to do , rename and edit id3 data , that you need to warm boot the phone.
For now my problem has been solved and this q can be closed , i hope this helps anyone in the future

did that, add the file and restarted the phone but it didnt work, try with the app, same result
EDIT: Solved by clearing data/cache from album app.
I'm signing on late here, but the app File Copy will hide those kind of files if you don't want to delete them. (The name is deliberately misleading.) It's in the Play Store.

I just keep a .nomedia file handy somewhere where it is not in the way, and copypaste it when- and whereever necessary. No need for PC, no need for anything. Some file explorers also let you create files on the go.
But I would very much like to get rid of the flikr, play-memories and other integrated crap folders. any ideas?
