DL appropriate mod that you desire. Flash .zip from CWM, unless directed otherwise. Done ......
You can google UOT Kitchen (dont have enough posts to link you)
It is also good for lots of battery indicator mods.
As always make sure you nandroid backup before you try anything.

I got my phn flashed to cricket wireless and its using the jiminy IV rom,
idk what kernal that includes
but my current is i only get about 8 hours.
what kernal should i use or would a kernal change help my battery life?
I dont wnat to switch roms though,
8 hours isn't TERRIBLE, depending on use. I would try this:
Charge for 8 hours, unplug, turn off, charge for 1 hour, unplug, turn on for 2 min, turn off, charge for another hour, then boot to recovery and wipe battery stats, or use the battery calibration app from the market.
Once you do that, try juice defender.
If that doesn't work, I'm assuming the cricket ROM is Sense? Try Netarchy's kernel or Ziggy's (ziggy471.com). You can also dl kernel manager from the market and try that way. I would just start with the newest and work your way back if you're not liking it.
It's important to do calibrate the battery first though, b/c if you don't get the battery setup right, every kernel will blow.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY SENSE?
AS IN HOW WOULD I KNOW IF IM USING SENSE ROM OR WHAT IS IT ?
NEW To the HTC evo / scene.
Sense is the UI that HTC lays on top of the Android OS (AOSP, Android Open Source Project).
I just looked at the ROM thread, it is sense. So the kernels I listed should work, just try calibrating the battery first.

And what are the kernals i can flash ? for more battery life?
Some people like it some people don't, if you didn't know you were using it, you're probably fine. I don't know that there is a 100% Cricket ROM without it.
Check my first post for kernels you can use. Once you get 10 posts I would recommend posting in the Jimminy V thread to see what people like (DO NOT start a new thread in the dev section, just post your ? in the existing Jiminy thread).
Netarchy's kernels or Ziggy's kernels should both work.
Edit: I don't feel like I'm getting my point across though. Don't bother trying any kernels until you're sure your battery is calibrated. Please try that first. It WILL help you.
Flashing new kernal will it mess with my flash settings such as since im flashed to a different carrier?

I'm not positive but when I searched throught the Jiminy thread, seemed like they were using all the same kernels.

Read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894880
and this:
noobgui.de/wiki
Kernel is how the Software and hardware talk to each other. ROMs contain kernels, so if you flash a ROM, it will change your kernel to whatever one is built into that particular ROM.
Also, it would help me and others if you spell checked. Takes me twice as long to read what you're saying, although I understand that typing on the phone is a PITA.
Lol im in class. Srry about tht
So it wont change my backuped roms if i flash a kernal on another rom? True false
sent from my htc evo 4g using prem app
No, it won't change anything there. In fact it's always a good idea to do a backup before you flash a new kernel in case you don't like it or something goes wrong.
Ok ilk try tht cal thing. Were tut? Also how do I make a correct backup. I've just been backing up through Rom manager premises but then I here about android backup to, how do I do tht

If you're using ROM Manager to back up your ROM, that is what I'm talking about. Just called a nandroid backup.
Hi just wondering when I download a battery icon for example of the kitchen do I have to wipe before I flash it? Also if I decide I won't different font for example do I just flash that over again and the battery will stay?
Thanks
No you don't news to wipe. And yes the battery will stay. The fonts are just normal font files that get put in /system/fonts. The battery gets built into the framework and the framework gets replaced. Just to be safe I would backup first because I have had it where the flash has messed up.

Ok thanks for the reply mate. How come every time a flash something the battery goes back to the standard 1 so I have to flash it again?
Thanks
Also is there any way of changing the email envelope you get when you get a email? I can't seem to find anything.
Anyone any idea why when I flash some icons my modified battery goes back to standard?
why don't you ask those questions in the right place => http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=990829
uot kitchen thread by mendozina.
you shpould considere what your are flashing and how... each time you flash new icons, if it's system icon then framework is replace. you should use (copy) the mod bat framework from you system to flash new icon and keep the already mod you had done.
but this is a though since you don t give a lot explaination.

Are you using the ROM files provided by UOT each time? If so, each time you make new items in the kitchen you're only over-writing those specific files when you flash it. Therefore if you choose not to change the battery mod in the kitchen when you flash new icons, you're flashing standard battery settings over the previously flashed customer battery settings.
i have similar problem,
today i have cooked my first mod, just new battery icons for status bar, status bar icons and new font. rom gets cooked w/o problems, also flashing goes as smooth as should be. the thing is, when i boot the phone no change is visible.
i didn't upload framework and system apk-s, i used IC 1.1.0. from kitchen, which is the rom i use. i did use edify script (for CM 3.x) and uncheck ThemeChooser.
i must be missing something but can't figure out what it is...any help appreciated. thx!
ok, i figured it out...flashing zip doesn't work for some reason, but adb push solved it... everything works now! for me, at least...hope it helps someone...;-)
the rom's (Stock+) framework removed it, but after applying a UOT update
that used that framework, its back again .
All I used from UOT is the circle battery mod?
1st, to recover, if I just put back what came with the rom,
(the three files I uploaded to UOT) will that put things back
as they were?
Is there a way to get the circle battery mod without restoring
the dumb recticle?
Thanks.

I believe you would have to use uot to get the battery mod, and then manually remove the recticle.
I was wondering what the systemui.apk does?

It provides the status bar that you see at the top of the screen and the notification pulldown curtain.. among other things.
will it affect the framework or any tweaks that are in a rom if i change it?
If you are just wanting to change the hue of images (pngs).. then the answer is no.. you can do that all you want.

I pulled the system ui from another rom that i liked more. if i were to replace the one that is being used with the one i like would it effect like the battery tweaks? os is that completely seperate? thanks.... noob questions
It is very common for ROM devs to tweak that file for their respective projects. I have done basic changes like swapping out images and such without harm. (changing battery images usually)
On the other hand I have also tried mixing the systemui.apk from one ROM to another and many times it breaks the status bar. Whenever I am going to play with modding that file I keep a flashable zip containing the original ready to go to put it back in case something goes wrong.
Thanks

Also, systemui depends on framework-res.apk to run correctly. Framework editing will also make changes to the notification bar. You may have to change them as a pair. Like the other user stated, either keep a stock flashable of what you're replacing on SD or a nandroid backup prior to changing any system files because the phone may not boot after you make changes.
Well, it's always a good idea to have a current backup anyway.
OK I changed it after I backed up and it seems to be running fine

Hi
I installed a custom rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1223996). It shows the battery percentage indicator, which I would like not to see. Is there any easy way to turn it off (like change setting etc)? Or do I need to mod rom?
UOT kitchen
one way is under battery option, go to "SCB with %", and you can pick a battery without percentage
you can change other stuff if you like as well :victory:
so you mean that i need to cook the rom?
is there any other ways to turn it off for example to modify some property list?
no it's not cooking a whole new rom, read the instructions i linked again.
it's just changing a few system files, then you flash a zip. once you get the hang of it you'll find it's not difficult at all
the option to turn battery % off is available in roms like cyanogen and oxygen. if it's built into the sense rom don't think it's possible unless you flash a zip.
Thank you very much
