Is anyone else having this problem? Every time I wake my phone up, it freezes then about 30 seconds later, Sense force closes on me. I thought it was the phone so I took it back. But even my new phone is having the same problem. Could it be an issue with the kernal?
saw somewhere to clear the cache. did that. worked for about an hour. then went back to freezing. i know a lot of you use warm. i need some help. because it is my absolute favorite ROM, but this problem is quite irritating
Try a different kernel.
what would be a recommended kernal for this ROM?
happened to me and i did calkulins format all
The recommended kernels are right on Myn's thread. I use the Net SBC kernel and its awesome! Fast, consistent and great battery!
If just changing the kernel doesn't do it, as one of the other guys said, flash calks format all, then reflash the rom and start fresh. That should handle it for you.

damn. I was hoping you wouldnt say I had to reflash. but ill give it a shot. thanks guys.

Did changing the kernel not work? If not, you could try just wiping cache and davlik, then reflash rls5 without wiping data or flashing calks format all. See if that fixes it. If Not, then do the full wipe, flash calks formatall.zip, then reflash rom. Good luck.

I haven't tried just switching kernels. I'll do that now. And if that doesn't work, time to pull out the ole dusty titanium backup.
okay. so i flashed a new kernal. the net sbc one. and cleared the cache and dalvik. and when i rebooted it, the screen was a greenish tint for about 5 minutes. its gone away since then. but is this normal?

I have never noticed anything of the such. Did it happen just that once, or does it persist after a reboot? If it's okay, I would say it was a fluke thing. I didn't have good luck with the SBC kernels, and the controversey on them was enough for me to stop using it. I like the kernel in my sig.

Flash myn and don't change the kernel. the default kernel works great. make sure you have updated your radio/pri/wimax before u flash the rom.
Also, are you undervolting? I had a problem where i undervoltd too much and it would freeze for a bit after i unlocked. as soon as i got rid of undervolt, everything was fine.
the stock rom (minus any apps you dont want) is very solid....i use the **** out of my phone and myn's RLS5 is one of the most fast and stable sense roms i've used.
I don't thinck so.
Sent from my evil evo!!
tried a couple different kernals (including the stock that is included with warm) and im still having the freezing problem.
as far as undervolting goes, i dont mess with the cpu. i dont see a need to. so i know thats not the problem.
so is my only choice now to format all and reflash the ROM?
and also, since i flashed a new kernal, my adobe flash hasnt been working. every time i go to a website that uses flash, the internet app just force closes. is this an issue with the kernal? or something else?
Undervolting is built into many custom kernels.
I personally use netarchy-toastmod cfs havs more aggressive no sbc on Myns RLS 5. I don't seem to have the freeze on unlock but my phone had the Adobe flash problem until I updated it through the market.
At first I thought it was the kernel, but I've used the stock HTC, ziggys, and netarchy and still it would close the browser with no indication, when there was flash content. Maybe its a memory issue? It still closes every once in a while, but not as much as it did before the update.
I also downloaded adfree from the market as Myns RLS 5 has an outdated hosts file slowing down the internet in general until updated. Just download, hit revert, then update.
I occasionally get a freeze in sense tho, maybe once or twice a day, lasts about 3 seconds. Doesn't bother me, this kernels gets me 14+ hours as a medium user and is quite snappy otherwise.
Im using the same kernal as you. And I uses Calkulins format all. And I'm still getting the freeze at unlock. It only seems to happen when my phone sleeps for a long period of time (45 min+). But it is really annoying. I dont know if this could affect it at all, but I'm using the old version of Clockwork to flash everything. I'm not familiar with edify and all that. Its really irritating because Myns rom is the only one I like enough to consider rooting my phone worth it. Is there anything else I can try?
ive been looking over the forums and havent found anything pertaining to this. does anyone know anything else to try?

Stop using Clockwork. That's the first suggestion. Then use the format all and flash the rom again. don't change anything on the rom. use that for a day or 2. if you still have problems, go back to the stock sprint rom. if you STILL have an issue, unroot and take your device back.
Ive already taken it back once. So, I know its not the phone. But I tried switching ROM's and they all freeze. So its not just a problem with Warm. I clear the cache, dalvik, full wipe and format all before every flash. But, as I said, every ROM I flash still freezes. I tried Fresh, MIUI, Warm, Sprint Lovers, and Elite. I switched to Amon Ra as well to see if maybe the problem was the recovery I was using, but still, the same problem. I dont download many apps. So, I'm pretty sure its not something I'm downloading from the market or anything. I've tried everything. So, at this point, I'm considering unrooting and going back to stock. Any last chance efforts I should try?
Hi
So since yesterday I have been having bootloops problems after installing cm7 nightly 23/25 and was wondering if anyone had insight on it.
Basically after moving apps to sd the phone would get stuck at the boot screen with the circling android guy. at other times it would be stuck at the screen before that and this only happens when I reboot with wifi on.
So far i've tried reformatting the sd card, factory reset, calk's zip to reflash everything.
I use amon ra 2.2.1 and the nandroid restore doesn't work either.
I'm not exactly sure if apps2sd is the problem but after testing doing different things to the phone, I only get this problem after moving apps to sd.
any suggestions on what I can do to get cm7 running again?
edit: oh and the kernels I've tried were sz 2.1 bfs or 2.0 bfs
2.0 worked fine for me on the other nightlies
First I would recommend you do a clean install, then flash the latest gapps.

that's what i did
formatted my sdcard
factory reset, flash calk
then flashed the nightly and gapps from 3-07
it boots up fine first time around. only get bootloops when i move apps to sd or reboot with wifi on. the boot loops are at different screens as well so it's kind of weird
That's pretty awkward. You have enough space, ect to move them. You're not moving any like system files are you?
Are you using the native (Gingerbread/Froyo-style) A2SD, or something like a2ext?
I've got all of my emulators and games on my SD card, no problems whatsoever. :/
yeah i'm not sure what the a2sd style is. just the normal kind that is apart of the cm7? i've never done any extra settings with the external because i just use the stock one.
it's working for now i think but im afraid to add more programs haha. so far moving a few items on nightly 25 with sz 2.0bfs is working with wifi.
we'll see how it goes.
i think i reflashed like 15+ times from 3am till now ugh
Wait, are you having issues when you DON'T use a different kernel?
Well its hard to tell what was causing the bootloops. I don't feel like its a kernel problem.
On my ride from socal back up to norcal today i moved apps individually from internal to SD and rebooted to see effects. I realized it may be because I put the launcher on the SD. I've done it in the past though so I'm not sure why its not working now.
The other change I made was from 2.1 bfs to 2.0 bfs.
It's working for now so ill just be more careful with moving apps to sd

I flashed to the newest SyndicateFrozen and it worked great until I started using the Browser. It locked up and I had to pull the battery. Same results with Dolphin Mini, DolphinHD, and the new Firefox. Anybody know if I missed something on the Syndicate page? Right now I'm going back to the Samsung distributed EB13 until I can find more information about this.

Have you tried clearing your cache, sometimes doing this helps. If not redoing the odin to EC05 has worked for me with other issues like force close.

I ended up using Samsung's EB13 update to get back to stock Froyo. Then installed CWM 2.5 with oneclick and restored my backup from after I had installed Syndicate Frozen (it's been a very slow day at work, I have time to mess around) and it seems to work with all browsers now. Essentially the only difference is I kept it from upgrading to EXT4.
I ran some benchmarks, which were quite underwhelming (seeing as when I was running DK28 they were well over this)
Quadrant: 1032
Linpack: 13.92
Smartbench 2010: 1093/2462 (also well under the 1ghz for stock Epic 4g 2.2)
If you get freezes regularly in anything at all, read the message that has been posted many times about using an alternate kernel. You can also try VisionKernel in lieu of the one linked clearly throughout the thread and in the second post under Changelog.
I should have included in the original post that I did a lot of searching throughout the thread and tried loading the Twilight_Zone kernel as recommended. After that my phone wouldn't load. I tried reloading the original modem with ODIN and nothing. I tried restoring to various backup points and just decided a fresh start was fine with me.
I hadn't seen anything about Visor Kernal. I'll give that a shot another day, but for today I'm wiped out on monkeying with this thing. I'm just glad I have a stable phone at the end of the day.
I should also note what I've done since.
I used Samsung's tool to get back to stock Froyo. Then used one click root to get CWM 2.5 back on there and restored the backup that I had made AFTER installing the Syndicate Frozen ROM. That was on accident, I had a lot of backups on there and wasn't sure which one was which. It loaded up perfectly fine. So I'm running Syndicate Frozen, but without CWM3 (and I suppose without EXT4 filesystem). And it works fine right now.

That's not a recommended configuration in the slightest.
I had the same problems even with the other kernel. I finally went to Bonsai 4.0 with EC05 and I have not had my phone freeze.
Its nice.
for me it happened in dolphin hd hasnt yet in stock browser

So.. A eb13 modem and a ext4 backup running on stock file system...
I predict big problems on the horizon

Everything worked perfectly until I tried to pair Bluetooth. Then she froze. I couldn't get it to fail any other way than with bluetooth. Fun experiment, though. I though I had a backup from before using CWM to convert to EXT4, but that isn't the case. I'm now running EB13 on CWM3 (which converted to EXT4, but no problems in the 12 hours I've given it).
My main reason for starting this Q&A post was to point out that I had tried the ROM and its recommend fixes that I could find in what I consider a reasonable amount of time/searching so that the developer might catch it and look into it if he/she so desired.
I want to note that I don't feel entitled to anyone's hard work other than my own. I'm perfectly happy following all instructions and finding that for me it didn't work. I might get a little miffed if I brick the phone but Samsung has made a product that remains quite resilient after all the modding real developers do, and the torture we tinkerers do. So to k0nane especially, thanks for the hard work. I'll keep reading through the forum and maybe try what Badbeats suggested with Bonsai 4.0 some time next week when I'm not so busy at work.
Seriously, you developers are amazing.
I had flashed SRF 1.1.0 and was running it with no issues. I tried the Vision kernel and got random lockups mostly after being plugged in and unused for awhile (maybe an hour or so). I flashed back to the Twighlight Kernel and it's been solid as a rock.
Being that I've only owned the phone a few weeks and have flashed/restored it at least a dozen times, I feel confident that it's running stable at this point. Once you mess it up a few times, you'll learn pretty quickly
So I'm loving my EVO running CM 7.1. It runs really well and I love using the sd card partitioned for s2e, but sometimes I receive texts up to 3 days late. That's unacceptable.
Is it worth switching to another sense based rom? If so, I'd like to use one with God Mode for the increase in speeds, so any suggestions would be great.
On a side note, I was able to install Synergy with God Mode once, but wasn't able to have it boot again. I'm not a noob at rom switching, but I have no idea what the heck went wrong. I wiped everything, tried re-flashing, nothing. I gave up and went back to CM7.
Any responses are greatly appreciated, so thank you in advance.

Honestly with godmode the only thing I notice different is higher quadrant scores and that's about it it feels the same as the regular version. Also if you do choose godmode make sure your using amon RA recovery since only compatible with it. Also check out some of the roms in my sig I recommended those to everyone

Solutions for Late Texts?
Thanks so much for the quick responses. Would switching to a Sense based rom for PRL updates and such fix the delayed text issue? Is there anything I can do with CM7 to fix it? It occurs randomly when I send and receive texts, but mainly receive.

I've tried those, but I just switched to Tiamat today, so I should give it a few more days to see if that hasn't solved it.
Godmode tends to be wacky, works for some, not for others. It worked on my phone for about a week, then went to FC city I tried to re-flash to fix it but then it bootlooped, kept doing that over and over til I finally figured I was one it won't work for and moved to non godmode. That ran fine til I switched to The Classic, the only difference I saw in godmode was benchmarks which IMO are worthless, the non godmode and godmode both performed the same in real life conditions. For your text issues try flashing up to date radios, then flash a stock sense Rom and update PRL and profile and flash back to cm7 see if they work better with everything updated. Otherwise you could use a sense Rom like The Classic v 0.0.4 very fast and very stable I've been running it since release from v 0.0.1 to v 0.0.4 which I am currently running with no issues thus far other than if u set autobrightness it is very sensitive in this release, so it adjusts very easily to small light changes. But it is one of the fastest sense roms I've tried and I've tried a lot cuz something about my evo hates AOSP, runs for a short time then random bootloops on all roms I've tried, cm7.1, miui, salvage mod, decks 1.3. So I stick to sense which I run senseless, I like my HTC apps anyways they look and feel more polished than most stock AOSP alternatives to me. But that's just personal preference. I've had text issues and updating PRL and profile always seemed to fix it for me so you could try just flashing a stock sense Rom update those and flash back to cm 7.1, hope that helps.

First off are you undervolting? Secondly if you have an issue like this it can be the cause of a few things. Did you restore data with Titanium Backup?
Also, even though it may not be specific to this rom if you do a search on here or google for random reboots you may find solutions that others have had. I understand the rom may not be the same but quite honestly this is a semi-common issue with custom roms and this question has been asked quite often.
Good luck and when in doubt wipe/format all and just load the rom and run it for a few hours without any apps
Did you put that theme over a stock rom?
odexed?
I put it over the blazer rom which it was made for. I cleared delvic cache and cache partition and it hasnt rebooted since and that was hours ago. Is that something you should do every once in a while to keep it running good?

Also no I am not undervolting or overclocking or anything like that. All system settings are default.
Well I thought everything was ok with the phone but it is restarting again! I am getting really frustrated I love this phone but I dont know how much more of its bull**** I can take! I am getting ready to throw the ****ing thing out the window! How would I know if I am undervoltin or anything like that? I did not mess with any system settings when I installed the rom.

I did not do a full factory wipe because in the directions he said to just flash the blazer rom 2.0 then a modified calkulins wipe then flash the 3.2 He said no data wipe was required.
Hey I was just wondering could this be caused by a faulty sd card? I noticed yesterday that when I went to access my sd card it was unavailable. Could the sd card bieng faulty cause a system crash that would lead to a reboot? I do have some apps installed on the sd card.

If you really want to fix your issue you have to troubleshoot to death. Do it all, format sdcard, do a clean install and anything else you can think of. Thats the best way to troubleshoot. Just nandroid your setup now and use TB to save data and go for it....
