Hello,
just installed CM7-2.3.3, I saw that all downloaded apps are installed on internal memory witch is quite small.
Is this a normal behavior for the Wildfire? Is there a way to get around it using settings (I didn't find any).
I heard of apps like App2SD, is this the only way right now?
Jacob.

under cyanogenmod settings you should follow this way:application > allow application moving (ticked) and you should choose where to install too there by ticking external.(after this you can transfer your apps yourself under the menu of application management or you can use s2e to transfer them to sd-ext...it is a script that does it for you.

Hi,I just discovered that when I go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications and then selecting "All" option,,the inbuilt android/HTC Sense apps tend to display 0.00B as size for each of these apps. For example, "Accounts&sync","Adobe Flash Player","Android Live Wallpapers","Android System","App sharing" and many more like that. Is there something i can do to rectify this so as to display the correct memory size alloocated to these apps? There are no problems with apps downloaded from market or installed manually, sizes are displayed correctly.Though I remember downloading "Dolphin Browser HD" and then moving it to SDCard beacuse the option to do so was given under Applications, though i've uninstalled it.Does this have anything to do with the current issue?I haven't done the adb shell thing that allow apps to be moved to SDCards.

Help anyone?just need an answer so as to know what step to take. Thanks
If this is such a problem that you need to ask then you must have a pretty happy life!
I understand that even though these are apps, they are not using the storage memory, they are built in and part if the Rom memory

Whilst I agree that it doesn't matter, I *do* get the app sizes for all my apps, regardless of which partition they are installed on.

hi everyone
finally thinking about rooting i have a htc desire 2.2 but internal memory is becoming a problem
but i need to know the benefits?
will i able to remove some stock apps?so that internal memory is freeed up?
will apps2d able to move all apps to sd card?
what else will i able to do?
can i install a stock froyo rom without sense for my desire?im sure that would free up some space?
Yes, yes, yes and yes If you want all of the above, you can get it by rooting.

thanks alot
how much memory free do you have on your desire?
does apps2sd move the entire application to sdcard or just the data?
This should not be in the Development forum, should've gone in Q&A
I have 100 mbs left after installing about 20 apps and a couple of games. Apps2sd will still use a bit of internal memory, but most of it goes to the sd.
EDIT: This is with ~30mb taken up from adobe flash and air on internal.

so it wont work even if i root my stock rom?i'l have to load a rom?
one thing im wondering
how come you guys are getting 140mb +- free with apps installed?
where did the space come from?
If you root your stock ROM then yes you can then use adb to remove system apps. The issue is they're not part of the internal storage but on a seperate system partition. This means removing them won't add space to downloaded apps
If you want to install hundreds of pointless, needless apps** then you're going to need a custom ROM which uses A2SD+ - LeeDroid is one example but I personally prefer either an MCR ROM from MoDaCo or the Desire HD port (RCMixHD). Both also extremely good ROMs
** This is my personal opinion, I don't use my Desire as a replacement for every other device I own so have no need to use excessive ammounts of apps

Tks
I don't have alot of apps
Maybe 20
Problem is copilot, flash, air, google maps etc
They take up alot of space, I'm not trying all apps
S-OFF then remove using root explorer
I have 69MB free with the following updates/apps installed:
1. Facebook (Update)
2. Twitter
3. Angry Birds (on SD Card)
4. Adobe Flash (Update)
5. Google Maps (Update)
6. Gmail (Update)
7. eBay
8. XDA App
9. Street View (Update)
10. App Manager
11. Dolphin HD Browser (on SD Card)
12. YouTube (Update)
13. EStrongs File Explorer (on SD Card)
So, for me, I don't NEED to root. I still do to try a new ROM if it's something that appeals but I love Sense - stock Android is so fugly
Hi,
If you're using Android (Froyo) you can I believe move, some, of the apps an data to the SD card using your existing ROM.
Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications.
Look at the downloaded apps and highlight one, it may or may not give you the option to move to SD card. The ability to move to SD is dependent on the Application developer in question. Hence, this doesn't work for all applications and data.
There are also some Market Apps that can scan the list for you, I tried "App 2 SD" by Sam Lu which seemed to work for me.
Regards.

I'm guessing for removing system apps...if you don't know what it is then don't even think about it at this stage

so most new apps go to sd
all apps with widgets are on the internal memory
i cant understand why i have so little memory left?
Because you don't have a lot of space in the first place. If you want more then you have no option other than to go with a custom ROM which uses A2SD+
hello all, i used to run the stock rom froyo, now i installed Android Revolution HD 3.5 wich is froyo also, and i'm making all the settings and app install, but i'm trying to move apps using app2sd or the stock application manager, the system give me computing for all apps without finish the computing, and i cant move apps.
since i know that customized roms are better with moving apps to sd than stock and support better this feature, what is going here, did i missed anything?
i did a full wipe before i installed the rom, but nothing else.
i installed all my apps, and all went to sd, but i have to move some of them to the internal just as how i used to manage on the stock, but i cant, anything to help please?
did you missed out to "allow" the superuser for apps2sd apps ?
apptosd never asked for permission, not before and not now, i think it's something related to the sd card repartition or ext4, i'm not sure just speculations.
and one more issue i have now with the new rom, in the dialer i used to enter numbers and the smart feature filter the phone numbers by contact names and numbers, now it's just do the filter by contact by default, and in order to make the filter by phone numbers i have to long press the 0 first and then enter the number, and my phone usage is based on searching the call history or dialed numbers by phone number filter. is there a way to fix this also?
thanks for any help
any other suggestion and help please? i'm stuck with the app installation i cant install anything now before i move apps

you can try with any apk from the market to move the apps to sd-card.. if it it isnĀ“t effective i recomend flash an other rom and test if persists...
i finally root my HTC DESIRE but still i can't install install app from maket to memory card, any solution?
You mean sdcard, don't you?
After you download an app you can go to settings -> applications, where you can see a list of your apps. Click on each one of them and a dialogue appears which lets you move them to sdcard.
The above is the basic variant. You can do that even without rooting.
Or maybe you are talking about sd-ext. That would be a hack that changes mounting points. If you want to do that it would be good to know which ROM you have installed.
Do some search about A2SD.
I use HTC Desire and recently rooted and flashed CM7 on it. But I have found out that most of the widgets available in the market is being read by the phone. Is this because something is wrong with my device?
Check where the widgets are saved. Moving an app to the sdcard breaks the widgets.
They are saved and they are in the application list. But when I try and add them the don't appear on the widget list.
Make sure they are on the internal memory - CM 7.2 tested and working
are you running a script that tells the phone to automatically instal apps to sd card?

These kinds of scripts usually called A2SD/DATA2SD/DATA2EXT don't "prevent" one from using widgets, because by using this scripts Android / the installed apps still "think" they are installed in internal memory so one can use widgets without any problem.
I also consider the OP moved some apps to SD card by using the option in application-settings. This option makes it impossible to use widgets, as already mentioned.
The phone was on external storage. Changed that and now everything works fine. Thanks

Yes I realise that. However, I recall using something when I used the stock rom that would automatically move downloaded apps to the sd card and I thought I recalled seeing a similar setting in CM7 that did the same thing.
That is what I thought the OP may have done.
