Hi all,
I have just Flash my HTC desire Z with Cyanogen ROM.
I want to know what i need to do to make it work "Unlock" on my Telus SIM card.
It was previously with T-Mobile. I was thinking that flashing it with a new rom was unlocking it.
Do i need to flash a new radio ?
Tanks a lot for my newby question

You need to get S-Off by using gfree. What method did you use too root?
I have follow the Cyanogen procedure.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=TMobile_G2:_Rooting
And when booting with "power" and "Vol up" the boot tell me that i am s-off

When you followed the procedure there and used gfree -f it also removed the sim.lock.
So you are good to use any SIM you like.
have fun - Guhl
I am doing that for my friend.
The t-Mobile G2 is Flashed, and work. But if i put my "Telus" sim card (from my htc desire hd) it's not locked. But i don't have a network.
He will use it on "Rogers" network but i don't have his card yet. (since he have a iphone4 and we are waiting for an adaptor from micro sim)

I'm with Telus at the moment with a Bell DZ.
Unfortunately, I'll have to say that T-Mobile devices will not work with Telus as the radio bands are incompatible. Per GSMArena, the T-Mobile G2 supports GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and HSDPA 1700 / 2100. Telus does not operate a GSM network, albeit they do have an HSPA network running on 850/1900.
Your options are to:
1) trade your G2 for a Bell DZ
2) change carriers and go with Wind or Mobilicity (which do operate HSPA on 1700/2100)

That sounds good. Rogers does have a GSM network (explains why the G2 can see their network). However, your data speeds will be limited to 2G.

I have recently acquired a T-Mobile branded G2 Touch (also called HTC Hero I believe)....and the only problem is it sim locked to the T-Mobile network.
I have followed this guide to first temporary root, and then permanent root (and sim unlock) the phone....but it doesn't work.
At least I get an error "cannot cycle eMMC" whether I use v0.04 or v0.02 in the guide.
If I follow the guide here, is this more likely to work and would it unlock the sim?
The only other option is to pay T-Mobile £15+ for a Sim Network Unlock code....but I would rather only do that as a last resort....

Sim lock is something completly different then rooting the phone.
If you want a sim unlocked phone you need to so it trough the network unlock or go to some tele shop.
Yup, rooting your phone does not unlock it. You need an unlock code. Google hero unlock or some similar combination and you will find lots of people selling unlock codes for the hero.
Also, it's not called the Hero. It's the HTC Vision.

Seeing as he/she posted in the g2 touch/hero forum, i would assume they know it is a hero. The vision is known as the g2 or desire z.
Just incase you are unsure, the "vision" has a slide out keyboard. If the phone you have has a rather sizeable chin and a trackball, it is a hero.
the phone has a definate chin and trackball.....

Alright, then it's a Hero. Sorry, it's just that you put G2 in the title, which is a different phone.

Hi,
I bought brand new inactivated sprint htc one m8 harman kardon. I managed to get it bootloader unlocked, S-Off, rooted, and TRWP 2.7.0.2. I'm trying to get the SIM unlocked but I couldn't. I used the following method to unlock the sim but I couldn't pass step 4 as I reach to hit "start" but nothing happens. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2718150&page=5)
I also tried to install roms but when the mobile boot after I get successful installation, it reboots on bootloader screen only.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks.
you do realize that post you linked to right at the top it says 100% works from GSM unlocks. nowhere does it say anything about CDMA phones...? which your sprint model is...
and yes i know what your going to say it has a GSM sim card slot but it doesnt matter.
when people say compatible with GSM models it mostly means international GSM and US(ATT/TMOBILE) phones. CDMA phones are a bit more complicated. cause theres the extra CDMA radio partition.

I did unlock the bootloader in addition to S-Off. However, I'm not able to install any rom. After I try to install the rom (zip file) and I get the message to rebbot after I get successful installation, it boots back to bootloader screen!

Greetings friends, I consulted the following information.
I have a LG G3 D850 but does not work on 3G or LTE with my carrier frequencies (GSM 850 - 3G UMTS / HSDPA 1900 Mhz - Band 4 LTE).
I change the Stock ROM 4.4.2 for CloudyG3 2.5, however I think these bands are blocked in the phone because the information indicates that this model is compatible.
Is there any way to remove this blockade of these bands?

Most likely your modem is gone, go to settings...about the phone....software information and if on baseband version says unknown ,then your modem is gone and you have to flash the proper modem for your model.
See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-lg-g3/general/modems-collection-d850-21r-20f-10d-t3213856
Look in software version for your version, mine is v10m

Work only in edge (850)...
Did you tried to see your carrier
The carrier and the APN configuration its ok.
The problem in the device, is that it seems that the frequencies were blocked. I bought this device because according to the same information, it is compatible with my carrier frequencies.

Did you try to do a factory reset but before that remove your sim card and APN setting and but it back in and reenter the APN setting. Also try to check if your network precedents is set to the first one. If you did all that and it stills doesn't work, try a factory reset

Hey,
I bought an LG G7 ThinQ (LMG710TM) in the USA, and i does not connect to the LTE/4G mobile data network here in Hungary. Since it's a T-mobile version i thought if i could unlock it, it may work (i can use my Telekom SIM since the beggining to call/send msg), but i can't get the unlock bin trough LG site, because it says it's an LMG710TMP version which is unlockable, but the phone itself says it just te TM version withouth the P on the end.
Anyways should I even bother to try to unlock it, because i didn't really find any infos which frequencies are supported by my own device, so it maybe just blocked by the software or not.
Thanks!!

It's not rooted right?
Enter the service menu and check the bands. If it says "SUCCESS" then that band is supported. If it says "FAIL" it's not.
Bands 2, 4 and 12 are the ones usually used with GSM LTE in America.

And yes, it's not rooted.
I checked the service menu, the listed(pic1,pic2) bands are all working, at least it said "SUCCESS" when i clicked on them, and in Hungary they use band 3,7 and 20.
I set it on 3, tried to reinsert simcard and restart phone, and airplane mode etc,etc little tricks to get it work, but still no mobile data.
The weird thing i found is the LTE Carrier Aggregation(pic3,pic4). It says what is says on the picture and i can't change it, because it tells me i need to restart my phone. I did it but no changes, so it just stuck at those options. I suspect the problem is there for some reasons that i don't know.
On pic5/pic6 those are some infos about the LTE stuff, sometimes it said Not Supported Mode at the Mode Pref, sometimes it said Automatic. Sadly i don't really know what that means, maybe it will provide some infos to you.

Did you contact the mobile provider and ask them to add your phone's IMEI to their service?
In USA, some people who bought the LG unlocked international phones did not have mobile data until they called the carrier and had them register the IMEI number.
You'll most likely need to setup your APN manually. Go to settings-network and add APN info for your provider there!

Your welcome. Glad to help ?
I have a model S20 SM-G981U that is carrier locked to SPR. But it was flashed to the latest Metro rom with Odin accidently. My ultimate goal is to carrier unlock the phone.
Now with the Metro rom, it doesn't come with any carrier unlock app to unlock the phone. I tried flashing the phone back to Sprint using the following ROM:
Download SM-G981U / Galaxy S20 5G SM-G981U SPR in Samfw - Samsung firmware download
SM-G981U / Galaxy S20 5G SM-G981U SPR samsung firmware download all model, lastest, fast update, completely free and fast speed in Samfw.com ✅
samfw.com
Odin shows that the flashing was successful, and the phone was successfully factory reset after the flash.

The phone detects the CSC to use from the SIM. Do you have Metro SIM?
Oh that was a brilliant suggestion, ShaDis. I had hoped that it was the case. I just removed the Sim card that was in it, a Cricket Wireless sim, and tried reflashing the phone and the same thing happened It's still showing the Metro logo when the phone starts and the same "TMK/TMK/SPR" as the provider software in the Software info screen.
Did you ever get a solution to this issue? I have the same problem with an accidental metro pcs flahs. Thanks

There's no such thing as an "accidental metro pcs flash". The Metro model has the exact same model number as the Sprint model, and the firmware is also identical.
Since T-Mobile bought Sprint, Sprint's devices have automatically been made compatible with T-Mobile. That means that when you insert a T-Mobile SIM into a Sprint device (even if it's still SIM locked), it's gonna give you the popup prompt to "reboot to apply new carrier settings" (as if it were SIM unlocked). That's because it no longer needs to be unlocked in order to be used on T-Mobile.
And, since T-Mobile owns Metro, the same thing probably goes for a Metro SIM.

I found out that they all use the same flash firmware files. When the phone detects a sim card in it, it would show the appropriate carrier's logo. My phone was locked to Sprint previously, so I couldn't get it unlocked by calling T-mobile. So I'm stuck with a phone that will only work with T-Mobile
