I have an Evo 4g running CM 7 final, and i noticed that boot times literally take 1 minute and 56 seconds. I looked up a video that showed a stock Evo starting up and it took 45 seconds, any advice to speed up the boot time? Hibernation/fastboot for CM7?
Did you ever find a fix for the slow boot on your evo? would love to learn if you did.
The first boot up will take a bit longer, due to the fact of rebuilding the cache; or your can try flashing a different boot animation.
Doesn't have a problem with the boot animation. Problem seems to be the splash screen. When phone is unrooted it boots in about 35-45 secs. When rooted the splash screen alone takes about 1-2 minutes before it switches to the boot animation. Any ideas how to speed up the splash screen/ find out what is causing it to hang on the splash screen? Thanks
Thats because CM7 is so full of win, it takes a little longer to load it all into such a small package.
I had long boot up times,i was using burnt droid and nets kernel, I also have a custom splash screen I photo shopped, then when I went to cm7 I did factory reset now boot times are really quick, just back up apks and contacts and do fact, reset, you should keep your splash as I did but should help with boot speed

I want to know if anyone knows what the problem/solution of this is. I have a 0003 Evo, the panel that only supports 3 pt touch, ROM doesnt matter, on the ENG HBOOT for CM, AMON RA 2.3
That sums up my phone, the problem is I'm always stuck at the splash screen for 3-4 minutes when booting up. If im booting to Bootloader or Recovery it's quick, hot reboot never reaches the splash screen so thats whatever, but reboot, or powering down then turning on my evo gets me stuck at the splash screen for quite some time. This is my second evo, and continues to do this despite the ROM I use and despite the splash screen image I use. Whats the problem/fix because so far it's only this specific evo.. I've tried google, everyone is complaining about erasing boot, that isnt my problem since everything else of the phone works just fine.

huh?
Anyway, are you wiping data/cache/dalvik everytime you flash a new rom?

What exactly is the problem? It takes a long time to boot? You said it boots up eventually, or I assumed that since you said everything else on the phone works fine.

when i boot up, it is stuck on the splash screen for 3-4 minutes, and then boots up normally. I'm wondering if all that time on the splash screen is normal or if i screwed something up since it takes so long to get to the boot animation
mine takes that long

That's not abnormal. My phone takes anywhere between 30 seconds and 4 minutes to get past the splash screen. This is especially apparent if you've just flashed something. Don't worry, it's just your phone loading

really? I was messing with my friends evo and his screen was there for only 10 seconds, he was unrooted. Is this a side effect of being rooted?

You can by staying on a rom (Of course only to a certain point)
I don't know if I'd say mine stays at the white htc screen for 3-4 min, but close to a good min for sure. Have you actually timed it at 3-4 min?
Once it reaches the boot animation, it's typically ~30 seconds before the UI comes up.

yeah I have timed it, came out to 230 on avg with peaks at 3 minutes but generally around 230. I unrooted, then re-rooted my phone to get the latest hboot 2.1 and see if i screwed something up when rooting and after i unrooted i got past the splash screen quickly, and after rooting it still got past quickly. could it have been my hboot? i was on 0.76, gonna flash 0.93 if i cant keep the current hboot and have Salvage GB at the same time

I suppose it could be the hboot ver, but am not familiar enough with it to say for sure. It's been over a month since I had hboot 2.10, and I don't reboot the phone THAT often to pay much attention to it. FWIW, I've compared mine (hw ver 0003) to a launch day 100% stock evo. Both go through the splash and animation in roughly equal time.
Yours might be delayed because you're running GB?
Does anyone elses DInc 2 take forever to boot up after hitting restart. I swear mine takes like 5 minutes at least. Also the boot animation doesnt last for the whole boot up time. The droid eye moves back and forth twice then just sits there and doesnt move. Seems like a oversite on HTC. Thoughts?
it does take a little bit of time, but 5 minutes?? wow.. you could always go into settings and change to quick boot.
Here's what I'm wondering. If quick boot is available, why would any of us ever use regular boot? Is there some advantage to long boot?
Same problem here. Five minutes may be an exaggeration, but it takes at least two minutes or so. And it seems to make no difference whether I have Quick Boot checked or not. Could this have something to do with running Launcher Pro instead of Sense?
yeah i'm not sure either. but the description says that some market applications/services are disabled if you use quick boot.
When I select restart it does take about 2 minuets to fully boot, but when I just turn it on with its booted in under 20 seconds, quick boot enabled.

Mine sort of freezes on the Droid eye as well. Mainly with the eye and two black dots to the right of it. It doesn't sit there for long though, but definitely noticeable. I have quick boot on as well.

Argh. HTC Desire, has been running Cyanogen 7.0 for months now.
This morning I get up and the phone won't switch on, just sitting there with the green light indicating charge must have finished over night.
Pull the battery and reboot, stuck on white screen with HTC in the middle.
Pull the battery and reboot, comes up to the lock screen but is then frozen and won't unlock.
Pull the battery and reboot the rest of the times (mostly) and it won't get any further than the main HTC screen.
Pull the battery and try to get to the boot loader (vol -) and it works, clear storage, reboot, and it comes up asking me to set it up again, so far so good. During setting this up the screen goes black and I have to pull the battery. Now i'm back to stuck at the white HTC screen.
NO changes were made to the phone, it's been solid and completely dependable since the cyanogen mod went on months ago, until this morning.
next step i'm going to leave the battery out for a few hours before putting it back in but in the mean time I thought i'd post here and see if any of you clever folks have any ideas.
I do still have insurance so I guess the next step after this is to call it in.
Thanks in advance.
Matt.
Have you got another sd card that you could install a rom onto and then flash from that ?
stuck the htc after install a new rom or update? ... i had the same prob and must perform a full wipe
Hello,
Ever since I rooted my phone I've been having this issue...the first image on boot, the clock work mod splash screen takes an awfully long time...like 20-25 seconds before it goes to the boot screen animation where it takes another 20 -25 seconds, is there any way to speed things upand get the phone to boot up as fast as a non rooted device? I'm using AIO Runny 4.01
Thanks
any one knows a way to solve this??
Maybe nobody (me also) gets why this is a problem for you?

well just my opinion buddy......I don't see the need to fix your issue...as I find it normal....I myself takes 30sec or so before I managed to get into CWM Recovery....
You just need to be patient......unless there is a "real" issue behind it.
Hey
Thanks for the replies. I guess I wasn't clear...
It stays on the first screen - the one with the Joker for 20 - 25 seconds before switching to boot animation where it takes another 20 seconds....thats like almost 45 secs of booting time.
I don't remember it taking that long before rooting? Is it normal??
Thanks
If it is under 1 minute you have got to suck it up my friend...as it is fairly typical. Mine seems to roughly to take up to 50 seconds.
However there are apps available such as rescan media root from the android market. Run the app and select the option to disable media scanner. It basically stops media scan to run on boot, therefore theoretically should save a lot of boot time and make the phone boot faster.
Thanks alot mate!
Hey all,
I've got my wife's galaxy note 2 here, and its doing something I've never seen in all the time I've been rooting and custom roming Android devices. Her battery is at 0%. When you plug it in, it will show the charging status while the device is powered off like normal, however, after about 5 seconds it will show the boot animation. No splash screen or anything. When it boots into system, the lock screen shows charging 0%. You can unlock, do anything, only it powers off after around 15 seconds, and starts the process all over again.
She has a missed text message, and everytime it boots, the OS thinks its a new message. So it shows 64 missed text messages, however when you open messaging, its the same one over and over. I can't boot into safe mode, nor can I boot into recovery. Usually you do the button combo, and when you see the splash screen you release power. There is no splash screen, it skips straight to boot animation. I've tried everything I know how, no download mode, no recovery, no safe mode.
Now you should know that this phone is no longer rooted or running a custom rom. It is running the latest OTA from AT&T. Knox re-enabled. Its been running smoothly for about 2 months now, and it just started about 2 hours ago. Tried 4 different chargers. What should I do? Is it time for a new device? My wife doesn't mind change, however she would prefer not to. She LOVES her note 2. Bought her a new phone, and we had to return it because she missed the Note.
