[Q] Fast Boot on Leaked gingerbread - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
Basically wondering if there are any stock leaked GB roms that have fast boot? And as a part of this inquiry, I was wondering what it is that makes them fast boot, is it the ROM itself, the kernel, the recovery etc?
Rory

I believe all Sense ROMs have fast boot (you mean the thing similar to hibernate, yes?) since it is a part of the ROM.

I know the LeeDroid has a hot reboot, which boots faster than the normal reboot, however I don't think it's as fast as the fast reboot from stock rom.

Hot reboot is not quite the same thing as fast boot. Fast boot is kinda like hibernate, it saves the current state and puts the phone in a sleep mode.
Hot reboot on the other side just makes the phone reboot faster, since it doesn't shut it down but merely restart the OS.

Almost always need to remove battery when doing reboot

Hey,
When I want to reboot my G. Nexus phone, almost always, it completely freezes on me. Often the screen even acts up weird.
Removing the battery and waiting for 10 sec's before booting the phone again makes the phone boot normally again.
It's very annoying though.
If I want to flash CWM, same thing, sometimes I need to boot several times into recovery before CWM appears.
I'm running stock jellybean 4.1.1 (rooted and unlocked), and on standard recovery, not CWM.
Anyone with similar issues ?

Reboot or Hot reboot?

I've always been curious about this, So I figured I'd ask. I know 'Hot Reboot' restarts the framework so then what does a normal 'Reboot' do?
Which would you prefer? Which have u seen better results with???
Hot reboot is a faster version of a reboot
they do pretty much the same thing
tho i believe a reboot completely shuts off first.
I would say a hot reboot is plenty good.
Hot reboot reboots only the android shell. I.e. software only. Reboot reboots software and hardware.

[Q] Carbon ROM + lightning kernel kill my phone

I have installed this ROM (CARBON-KK-UNOFFICIAL_odin_build35.zip) then I installed lightning kernel stock .283 Version 5. The phone work fine for many hours, but it overheat, and the battery drain too fast. I put it to charge, I turned on my phone, so far so good, I made I video call and the phone overheat too much and turned off by itself. Now when I try to turned on it, the phone turned off automatic, I can connect it in Fastboot and Flashmode, I could install the stock ROM via flashtool, but the phone turn off after show the logo. I can flash a recovery and I can get in, and re-flash other roms but after the logo the phone turned off. What can I do? put it on the trash? :crying:

help someone the same thing happened with me was using the beta4 paranoid and did the flash of lightning to cm11 kernel and now my zl only works plugged into the charger .
already tried going to stock by flashtools have not solved the unlocked bootloader
someone help please
did anyone find a solution ??
thnx
Very interesting. I had also Carbon ROM and then installed lightning kernel and had the same issues as you mentioned. Phone reboots suddenly when using too much processor power for example navigation.
Then I was only able to use the phone when it was plugged in the charger. I thought it has nothing to do with the lightning kernel because many others have also the same problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zl/general/phone-starts-connected-to-charger-t2864009
or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2534327
And now you say it happened after flashing the lightning kernel, its weird.
Mine is being repaired right now. I managed to lock bootloader back and restore original firmware.
Hope it gets the defect parts replaced.
the problem where phone will only run while plugged into charger, seems almost certainly due to heat.
lightning kernel, when installed is set at overclocked values for cpu/gpu, which naturally will generate more heat.
5-10 minutes after installing lightning kernel, my phone will start randomly rebooting on its own even if i am doing nothing at all with it. also feels extremely warm to the touch.
so the first thing i do after installing lightning kernel is lower the cpu/gpu values to thier default settings. problem solved. i do not use the kernel for overclocking....only need it for the DT2W/S2W features, and a few other tweaks. works perfectly fine for my needs. :good:
keeping fingers crossed that i do not run into this issue :fingers-crossed:
Your battery is dead!
Replace it and works fine!!
Also happened to me.

[Solved] Android is Upgrading... Starting apps on EVERY BOOT (CM12 Lollipop)

I recently flashed the official CM12 build using recovery to my YU Yureka device.
There's a new issue that I've encountered. Everytime I boot my device , just after boot animation, "Android is upgrading... Starting apps" shows up. It does its animation for about 10 seconds to resume the boot afterwards. First of all, I don't think that is normal at all. It is expected on first boot but not on every boot. Is there any solution to this?
In general the performance has suffered a lot. The AnTuTu Benchmark scores have dropped from ~29000 in KitKat to about ~21000 for Lollipop. The interface is laggy and unresponsive at times.
I've tried cleaning the cache partition from the stock recovery menu too with no effect or change whatsoever.
(Been using the CM12 for about 8hrs + now)
EDIT: Issue resolved by factory reset from the recovery. Do make sure to take backup of all the apps and contacts before doing a factory reset. The dialog box at boot up screen is now gone.
Even though new AnTuTu scores are not as high as other users have been reporting (~32000) but around ~29000. Also, device feels more smooth and responsive.
It happened with me also!
Its normal
In the start it lags!
But after it gets settled it just a treat
If it dosent dissapear den factory reset it!

For how long have you been using this? And approximately, after how long your system was normal again?
As i finished rooting and resroring all my apps!
About 2 hours later!
Antutu score 34000+

Phone won't shut down; only reboot

I was running a custom KitKat ROM on my Note II, but lately it has been acting up. For example, it would randomly restart on me. And when I would go to shut it down, it wouldn't shut down. Only reboot. And if I take the battery out, as soon as I put the battery back in it would start booting up (I wouldn't even press any buttons).
So I decided to flash Cyanide Android's custom ROM 6.0.1 (Cyanide-v5.0-t0lte-Detoxified-20160828.zip). It is running wonderfully. So far, no random reboots. However, the problem still remains with when I go to shut it down, it reboots. And if I put the battery back in (after taking it out), it starts booting up.
Any ideas on where to start to pinpoint the problem?
Does the same thing happen on a stock ROM? If it does, at least you know if probably isn't a software problem.
I don't know. It started happening loooong after I started putting custom ROM's on. I didn't bother going back to stock. I doubt it's a custom ROM problem.
You'll never really know until you try a stock ROM.

Ok. Yes. It does it with stock ROM as well. Now what?
Strange that the problem still exists. Maybe one of custom ROMs changed something in the phone's behaviour? I'm really not sure. Sorry.
It happened randomly after having a custom ROM for at least a year. And it also does weird things like, it's on, and I go to turn the screen on, and it just won't turn on (even though the phone is on). So I have to hold in the power button to hard boot it.
